This review is long over due but THIS is the shop to come to. I have an older 87 Pontiac which had a rotten exhaust from the CAT to the exhaust tips. Every piece of piping was rotted out and needed replacement. The only thing in usable condition was the Y pipe from the engine to the CAT. Since I plan to have this car for as long as possible, I wanted to make sure it sounded nice and looked good. I spent months finding what muffler i wanted and which CAT to go with as well. I decided on specific Magnaflow units, but needed the connecting pipes and tail pipes fabricated to fit the units into place and weld them up. These are things I can't do personally and my options for pre made units are limited / shipping costs are, for what few units are available for this model, were prohibitively high / not very feasible. I came here before to get an estiamte on my truck. I never was able to finish the estimate as COVID then took place shortly after etc etc... but I remember interacting with Roland and liked how he had originally explained things. to me in great detail..... It was like getting a nice mini consultation of all your options and choices. I've been to every other ESH on the island for other various vehicles and what not since my college years back in 2002, but this is the only one I haven't had work done at. In order to pass my safety to get my car out of storage, i needed to replace my CAT so I did that my self loosely as I did not want to install it fully in case I did something that would impede the rest of the work needed since there were some issues with the elngth of the CAT when attached to the Y pipe. I called ESH and Roland gave me a time to come in, so all I had to do was get the car there along with my muffler. They did a fantastic job. Rolad went over everything they did and showed me their excellent workmanship. Although this was done a while ago the exhaust is holding up fine and i could not be happier. Roland called me around noon, to ask if he could push it back to 3pm'ish as he was running behind. Talk about superior service before I even stepped foot on his business! I am WFH, so I really appreciated his call. Once Roland had my car lifted, he got the light and walked me through the exhaust system, patiently answering my questions. The conclusion was I do not need to fix anything. Then he pulled my car out of the garage and even maneuvered it facing Hamakua so it was super easy to pull out of the driveway. First off...this Exhaust Systems HAWAII is NOT affiliated with the other ESHs. Each one is managed and run independently. I have to point this out because this Kailua shop is low key and doesn't have a social media presence, very old school. I have a Harley that was hit on the pipe and my under body connector pipe needed straightening to a 90 degree angle. Roland explained the entire process, pros and cons. Thankfully he allowed me to straighten the pipe, as I know exactly the angle, he didn't want to over bend or not do it as I specified. This was the best part because he allowed me to assume responsibility for the final outcome. This was exactly like doing business back in the 80s when there was NO worries of liability and you were allowed in the shop to see for yourself or assist hands on with the job you were requesting. Bottom line Roland was very informative and patient with all my questions. I highly recommend Exhaust Systems Hawaii Kailua. I just wanted to say a big MAHALO NUI LOA to Roland and his team for helping me get a completely new exhaust system! Yes it is super late for this review but better late than never. If you need any exhaust work done to your vehicle, hit braddah Roland up! He does not B.S. and sugar coat nothing, he will tell you straight up what it is but he will take your opinion into account as well. Roland is the kine of guy that will joke around witchu alot and makes you feel comfortable in his environment which is something some autoshops lack. Yes all businesses are here to make money but to him QUALITY is better than quantity. I went in to get my exhaust on my 95' Nissan Hardbody re-done because I lowered my truck just a tad bit more and the tail pipes were hitting my axle. I purchased a muffler from O'riellys hoping to cut cost but braddah Roland pointed out that when he does a complete system that everything from mufflers to exhaust tips come with a warranty when installed. The muffler I purchased through O'riellys did not come with that. So I went with his route and added a Flowmaster Super 10 single in/dual out and run the tips to the back before the rear bumper. Welds are super clean, not some of this crappy blobs of welds but nicely uniformed welds. Bends are bends but they bend nicely around the axle and are angled straight. Had to do some modification (cutting) on my bed for the pipes to fit but he ASKED me if I was ok with the mod before he even did it which I was grateful for because some shops will do some mod and not even tell you that they did it. I have this new exhaust for 8 months and she is still running strong and loud! Should've went straight pipe instead hahaha All in all, Roland and his team are TOP NOTCH! If you need any type of exhaust work, take the drive down to Kailua, visit Exhaust System Hawaii and you will not be dissappointed. *Just note that there are 4 locations (Kailua, Waipahu, and 2 in Honolulu [S. I had an appt. to check out my exhaust because I hit a curb from the front passenger side of my car and it was caused a loud, vibrating sound in the interior. Roland hoisted the car, found the problem right away and showed me what happened. The entire exhaust had shifted and was touching the side as well as it was dislodged in the front. Roland pried it away from the side and pushed the front part into the brackets and he said it should be fixed. The car was lowered and sure enough, he fixed it. Couldn't believe it wasn't a major problem because another shop had quoted me $1,500-$2,000- yikes. On top of the super customer service, Roland called it an inspection and didn't charge me anything. What a nice surprise after thinking that I'd have to pay $1,500-$2,000 to fix my problem. Mahalo Roland!!! read more

Got exhaust issues? GO SEE ROLAND at the Kailua or Waipahu location. I wanted to repair some damage on my exhaust pipes that I thought was causing noises, but Roland didn't try and sell me. Instead he helped me see that there was more to it and that the damage to my pipes weren't causing the noises. He provided responsive service, sound recommendations, all with genuine care and Aloha. Honestly the Best experience I ever had When speaking with Roland he answered the phone within seconds, I called him and wanted to make an appointment asap, and he gave me the day and time as soon as I asked. I walked into his shop knowing I just wanted my mustang to sound louder and overall better. My truck muffler was hanging after 7 years of owning the truck. My daughter took the truck to Exhaust Systems Hawaii (South King St.) and was shown a picture and given a quote of $1k+ and it was going to take 4 hours to install. My 2002 Toyota Tacoma's 13-year old Flowmaster muffler and tailpipes/tips were finally in need of replacement after a good long run. Called the closest exhaust shop. From the first phone call, the visit for quote, the drop off, and pick up, it was a pleasure doing business with Roland at Exhaust Systems Hawaii Kailua location. What's cool is that previous owner (I bought used in 2014) of my Tacoma kept meticulous records and I noticed the 2008 receipt for exhaust system was from the Exhaust Systems Hawaii Waipahu shop. I showed it to Roland and he recognized his handwriting! Anyways after that chicken skin moment it was all smooth sailing as Roland explained all the options very thoroughly. Work was prompt and efficient. Today I drove off with a new SS Borla 1-in 2-out muffler and dual tailpipes with nice SS tips. 10/10 i will come back for my other vehicle. Unlike other car shops that usually look at women and think we dont know what we're talking about this shop was different. I went in this morning due to an "exhaust leak" that was told to me by another car shop to pass safety. Roland took me in with no appointment since they had time. Took me under the car to show me exactly what was happening and what I needed. turns out I didn't have an exhaust leak at all and i just needed parts to replace. Also found out another part of my exhaust wasnt screwed down either and he fixed that right up. I ended up getting a flowmaster super 44 muffler and an exhaust tip along with brackets at a very good price, a lot less than what I was expecting.
