I've only come here for breakfast, which I'm pretty sure is what most other people did too. We received breakfast vouchers for our stay, so I came on the weekend for the buffet. It's not an AMAAAZING hotel buffet, so no need to call your friends over, but it's above a standard complimentary hotel breakfast because: there is a made-to-order omelet station, fresh waffles, saimin, congee, and Portuguese sausage. I'd never pay whatever the full price is, but it's great for a complimentary hotel breakfast. The dining room looks onto Kuhio Beach Park (my fav!!) and the staff is SOOOOOOO nice. We came one morning where there was quite the line, but they made the wait really easy and got us seated as soon as possible. The omelet guy was SOO good. Multi-tasking, hard working. Make sure you leave a tip. I'm kinda surprised they only have one omelet guy for a dining room of that size. :/ read more

The best thing at the Kuhio Beach Grill is the weekend seafood and prime rib buffet. They have poultry, seafood, salad, soup, and the typical buffet selections. But the main highlights are king crab legs and prime rib! The prime rib is cooked perfectly medium rare with medium edges. It's not like those places that overcook their prime rib. So if you like your meat like me (medium rare) then this is place for you! If you can, I would serious recommend watching what they bring out. They usually replace their food often so if you see them bringing out a new tray of crab or prime rib I would go for that! New crab is always better than older crab! Service is great, the waiters always fill up your water and take your plates away quickly. Plus there's free parking in the Marriott garage (do not forget to get your ticket validated). If you valet it's $12 which is kind of pricey... Make sure you go early (before 6:00pm) because there's an early bird special for around $32 (it use to be $26 but it went up). Recently, we enjoyed the 1/2 off buffet ($13.50?) if you dine before 6 p.m. We went on Tuesday for the Prime Rib and Poke buffet. Oh my goodness, it was wonderful! We filled up on the good stuff, not wasting time with starches and salads! And the desserts were wonderful too! Great value for kamaaina! I hope they have other offerings in the future! This restaurant is located in the former Hawaiian Regent Hotel on the ground floor fronting Kalakaua Avenue. Parking is a little difficult, but they validate! read more

We came here for our free welcome drink and the breakfast buffet. I had been to the breakfast buffet at the previous downstairs location, but I really like this new updated design. The buffet is a bit pricer than the last time I visited, but the food offerings are very similar. I still love the freshly-made waffles and the omelette station. They have a little bit of something for everyone, from fresh fruit to cereals to a miso soup station. Our waitress was Marian and she was very helpful. She quickly brought us tea, coffee, and water. We came for our welcome drink in the evening and sat at the bar. I asked for a Mai tai without pineapple juice, but the bartender explained that it's a Mai tai punch that's made with a passion blood-orange juice. The good: Good value, decent spread & quality The bad: The other customers, horrible crowds On a recent staycation at the Waikiki Beach Marriott, the fiancee and I received two certificates for a free breakfast buffet at the Kuhio Beach Grill for Marriott Rewards Gold/Platinum Elite Members. So, we decided to checkout the breakfast buffet. We headed down to the Kuhio Beach Grill at 9AM. It is located on the first floor of the Kealohilani Tower fronting Kalakaua Avenue. To our surprise, the line was LONG, and many of the other guests in the line were rude and/or hobo looking/acting! After a 15 minute wait, we eventually got our seats. The employees here are nice, though they appeared to be short staffed. Despite this, our server was quick to get and serve our drink orders (water, coffee, or tea), and we were off to the buffet. The buffet here has a decent spread of pastries, fruits, yogurt, scrambled eggs, bacon, link sausage, hash browns, pancakes, fresh Belgian waffles, an omelet station, and a selection of fruit juices. The food was pretty good in quality, and despite what other reviews have said, were hot or cold as they should have been. My only gripe? The hash browns were pretty soggy and the bacon not very crispy, but what do you expect? In addition to the buffet, an ala carte menu is also available and had some pretty good sounding options, but the buffet is definitely where the value is at. Would I return? Yes, if I were staying on property. No if I was just looking for somewhere to grab breakfast and not staying on property. However, given the chaos in the restaurant, it made me wish that Marriott would install an Elite member only Concierge Lounge at this location. read more

Both days the fare was similar but with little changes like one day there were pancakes, the next there was Belgium waffles. Opted to sit outside both mornings, since the weather was perfect. The pigeons can be a little annoying and fearless, they just kept coming back for more. I don't mind a little wildlife while I am eating so I didn't let it bother me. It was around $23 and included your choice of drinks, omelet bar, fruit platter, toasts, yogurts, and they even had a little Japanese breakfast station. I could only eat one serving of prime rib. The cut was ample. The fruit was fresh, pineapple was sweet. Other dishes served was pasta (marinara and Al Fredo sauce), a fish dish which was dry, ox tail, hot veggies, mash potatoes, rice, minestrone soup, and a variety of desserts. This place holds Marriott's breakfast buffet and prime rib dinner buffet. We've been to both while staying in this Marriott. The breakfast is ok, nothing special. The best thing about it is its egg station. The selection is not very big, and the quality is acceptable. We ate there for free because we got member perks, but I would suggest other guests to go else where if you have to pay for it. Not worth the money! The prime rib dinner buffet is definitely worse. We've been on Thursday night, Asian theme food. I would say the food quality was not good. The only acceptable thing was the prime rib itself. The Asian food was greasy, low quality, weird tasting. It's like a 10 dollar Chinese buffet in a run down mall, not something you should find in a 4 star hotel. They had DIY pho out, with raw beef on the side. When I poured the supposed to be very hot soup in my bowl to cook the meat. I discovered the soup was barely warm. I had to asked the server to reheat the bowl for me in the kitchen. I am not sure if this is even sanitary. To sum up, skip the prime rib dinner. read more

The staff here were most attentive and well loved people we have ever experienced in a restaurant. One of the days there our waitress caught two coffee mugs falling from a table. Then turned around and gave a bow. The people who saw here gave her a round of applause. All of the waitresses there every morning remembered our drinks and the chefs who made my omelettes remembered what I wanted. We will be back again. read more

Talk about bang for your buck! Had a staycation in Waikiki and KBG was a recommendation for their dinner buffet. We stayed at a hotel across the street but decided to drive over which was perfect due to the FREE parking with validation. The parking lot of the Marriott was SUPER FULL so we literally parked in the last stall on the roof! And to top it off we noticed the elevators were broken . BUT there was a handy dandy shuttle (a man driving a golf cart) that came to our rescue and took us right down to the 2nd floor entrance (closest to KBG). We were about 15 minutes early for our reservation but they sat us immediately. Right away our server (while in the middle of doing something) made it a point to introduce herself and let us know she'll be by with waters as soon as she could. Obviously we headed straight for the Prime Rib (did not stop at go, did not collect $200 ). The cut I requested (rare) was PERFECT and the au jus "gravy" was rich and perfect as well. Next we hit the crab, I'm not a huge fan of snow crab, I'm a king crab gal...but these were very meaty and tasty. The crab was cooked perfectly and not rubbery and bland etc. we visited the buffet a few times for refills...the reason I gave 4 stars is simply because this is a buffet, and TRUST ME I'm perfectly fine just eating crab and prime rib with a mound of rice , but all the other "dishes" that were offered IN MY OPINION, were just crap fillers ‍. I would have paid the same price if it were just crab and prime rib, instead of wasting my time and plate space on the rest. I'm assuming other people may like the variety, however, I feel like it was just BLEH... The desserts were okay, they were very pleasing to the eye and tasted fine. But there was nothing that really stood out as special in the dessert field, just a lot of pretty, nicely decorated and good tasting sweets. Now the service was AMAZING our waitress continuously refilled our drinks, brought us empty plates for crab shells, and cleared our table often. She made us feel very comfortable and never once made us feel rushed or awkward (which sometimes is something locals face when in an environment meant to please tourists). She is the best server I've come across in a long time! I personally give her 10 . She also informed us that kama'aina had an extra 20% off (something that no one cared to mention the numerous times I've called inquiring dinner prices) and made sure to have it deducted for us on our bill. This was possibly the worst food experience of my life. I do not know how anyone would pay full price for this terrible bulk prepared food. I do not believe the Prime Rib was cooked or cut on site, I think it was pre cooked and pre cut. This is why it was prepared out the back rather than at a carvey station at the buffet like in a proper restaurant. It was also very poor cuts of meat. Prime must be the brand as it is definitely not the description of the cut of meat. All of the buffet food was also sub grade and swamped in gravy to prevent it drying out. Good but not great. Came early for prime rib on the island favorites night and had Kalbi and Mahi, both were overly salty and oversauced, needed for the buffet steam tables. Server was attentive and didn't rush us through. Standouts were the fresh baguette with salted butter and the desserts, especially the crepe brûlée. Couldn't try all of them, even splitting them three ways, was too full, but the desserts were quite good. Chocolate covered strawberries were yummy as well. Good value for the early sitting at $23 each but the drinks were on the high side. They add on a 15% service charge which is worth it with the amount of work they do to clear the plates and refresh the buffet lines. It was amazing breakfast buffet to have after a long run in a hot humid marathon relay. This place is convenient in Waikiki and restaurant is huge. From the eggs omelette to pastries, fruits and salad; there are so many to choose from. My friends and I were treated special by Madona who was our host that morning. They have the same buffet breakfast item everyday, the food is really just mediocre, it won't worth the price they charge ( $21+/ppl as I remembered),there is always long line waiting for getting in, I do appreciate the host trying her best to arrange seats for everyone as quickly as possible, I just don't like the feel of waiting in a line. Overall, if you are thinking if you should add buffet package at your Marriott hotel booking, I will urge you NOT to do so, given the location of Marriott is in the heart of Waikiki, there are so many restaurants ( including McDonald) within walking distances, I will save the money and go to explore other breakfast places ! read more

Came for the dinner buffet for two nights because of their excellent salad bar and cook to order station. Each night they have the same salad bar: salad greens, grilled veggies, olives, fruit, and more. The hot foods and the cook to order stations change. The nights we went they had cook to order pasta and the other night was poke. The prime rib is tender and tasty. They had a dessert bar with lots of desserts like cakes, haupia and creme brule. They are running a special where it was $22 and some change for hotel guests to eat here, so we couldn't resist, and were pleasantly surprised we liked it. The location inside the hotel was quite difficult to find. Sure, there were directing signs, but some were far apart, that it is a quite a hunt. It is currently located in Waikiki Ballroom. I've been to a much better buffet with bigger selection, considering the price we paid. There were only reason 3 hot entrees in the main line, then about three starches (including steamed rice). Food presentations were okay, but nothing extravagant. The steak with roast potatoes was awesome, but all others are mediocre. I stayed at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort and Spa last weekend. It was incredible. I went to the Kuhio Beach Grill for the breakfast buffet. It was one of the best I have ever had. It had something for every taste. My favorite was the omelet station and fresh made Belgium waffles. They had fresh fruit, an Asian selection station and every hot breakfast meat and casserole you could ever want. And of course a great selection of fresh pastries, yogurts, juices etc. Ronnie was my server. She made sure I had everything I needed or wanted. Her service was excellent and also the mgr, I wish I had her name, was wandering the floor the entire time making sure everything was perfect. It was well worth the price and a great start to my day. So it was our last night in Hawaii and we were looking for a buffet that offered a wide variety of food and it would end our trip with a bang. We walked nearly a mile and a half away from our hotel only to find out that the buffets had a long wait and reservations were made weeks in advance. I decided to check Yelp to see if there were any other restaurants close by and to my surprise there was a restaurant located right across from our hotel. We begin the long journey back ( The irony right of ending up right back by our hotel) we walk up to the restaurant and it wasn't crowded it's a little hidden so I believe that adds to the factor why there isn't a line of people waiting to get in. The people working in the front were helpful and kind and greeted us but for the prices we wanted to check out the food before we decided to pay and they allowed us to do that. Now I'm from California and there's many many buffets with a variety of choices this place had great sides to offer however if you're looking for a variety this probably wouldn't be the place. But when they say quality over quantity, This is a great place to go. They have crab, prime rib and a variety of sides that add to the main courses. The dessert table is heavenly with something for everyone but what was truly amazing was the service. Our waiter was attentive and had a great attitude. What I liked best about the crab legs were that they weren't salty tasting like most buffets. The aujus sauce was slightly thicken so it clung to the prime rib making it oh so tasty. Located inside the Marriott Beach Resort on Kalakaua on the 2nd or 3rd floor. We live about a mile away and biked over on a Biki bike on Saturday December 16th. If you don't live close enough to walk and will be driving my suggestion is to find metered parking, Ala Wai parking or park at the Zoo or Waikiki Shell since it's pretty close. Not sure what the parking/valet rates are for the resort itself but I am sure it's pricey. My boyfriend acquired two complimentary breakfast buffet vouchers from a friend who stayed at the resort. We decided to give it shot because hello who doesn't love free a breakfast?!? The restaurant was bright and pretty busy when we stopped in around 10am. We were seated right away and our server came by to collect our vouchers and drop off water/coffee for us. Then we jumped right in! There are LOTS of options here. A juice/milk area, cereal, assorted toasts/bagels, freshly made waffles/pancakes, bacon, sausage, rice, soups, potatoes, fresh fruit bar, oatmeal and my personal favorite a made to order omelette station. The gentleman making the omelettes was awesome. He had 3 pans going at once and you can tell he had worked there a long time since multiple people knew him by name and were saying how they see him every time they come here. He was super friendly and got our orders right. I had an egg white omelette with veggies and jack cheese and it was delicious. I also had a bunch of fruit and a couple of the waffles. My boyfriend had a ham and cheese omelette as well as potatoes, bacon, fruit and a waffle. He enjoyed it as well. The service was good too. I drink a lot of water and our server always kept refilling my glass. I almost felt bad because she was there so often. If my memory serves me correct I think the price was $35 for the buffet but I could be totally wrong. We don't go to too many buffets I think we went to one once in Vegas. I don't eat very much food and don't think it's worth it price wise for me to go to them, if I ordered what I ate somewhere else my meal would be way less than $35. I also don't eat a lot of meat so that knocks out a lot of choices that they had that I could not eat. I feel like if you love buffets or receive these vouchers it's totally worth it to go. I was very pleased with the service, food quality, and variety. The crab legs were medium size and was accompanied with this delicious sweet butter. While it was not the best crab I have eaten, I was satisfied by the abundance and the attentiveness of the staff (as soon as the tray ran low, they would refill it within minutes with a fresh batch). I asked for lemon wedges and the staff kindly provide me with some as it was not included in the buffet. The prime rib was pretty good and was accompanied by its own sauce and horseradish. It was carved fresh at a carving station. For those of you who wants it well done, you can request that it is grilled on the sides. There was also a poke station. My husband said that the poke was OK. It could have used more flavor. The dessert display was incredible! I don't really eat desserts but tried the creme brulee and it was fantastic (even though it was not torched right before eating it). In addition to that, the buffet includes fruits, other entrees, soup, cheese stand, and noodles. I would say over all the food quality is 4 stars. The atmosphere and staff is 5 stars. Our server was incredibly rude and unaccommodating. If you have any dietary restrictions whatsoever, I highly do not recommend eating here. We are guests at the hotel and assumed we would be able to pick up a quick breakfast on our way to the beach, but were met with a rude attitude and unwillingness to adjust our meals when we tried to explain that we are vegetarian. All we asked was for a substitution of bread for meat, which has never been an issue at past restaurants. Needless to say, we will not be coming back. read more

I got the dinner buffet special that was $21 which was apparently 50% off. Food was ok for the most part but beware of the deceptive billing practices they use. They automatically charge a 30% service charge on your bill. The front desk claims that is 15% on the full price before the 50% reduction. I mentioned this to them and they refused to take off the extra charge. Granted, it's only a few dollars for one person but if you're a party of 10, it adds up. I really don't give a crap about a few bucks, it's just the principle of the thing.
