Went here for our first morning on Waikiki for breakfast, and had the breakfast bar. The first issue, is it's a $32.95 per person breakfast bar. If it had been over the top with choices and interesting local options, maybe it would have been worth it. But it was just standard breakfast fare, and very average at best. We knew when we saw a $22 price tag for pancakes, this was going to be a tough sell. Granted, they do have a cook on site making made-to-order omelettes, and maybe that would have been a better option for us. But all in all, I would try other options. read more

The wife and myself are staying in the Marriott and it's been raining so we decided on kuhio grill since it's in our hotel. The breakfast Buffett is a continental breakfast with somebody who makes omelets. It was mediocre nothing to rave about so we receive our bill and it's $35.95 a person!!!!! I love going to buffets. Especially those with crab! I don't get to eat it much since the husband is allergic to shellfish. Good, more for me. Anyway, this lovely buffet is located in the Waikiki Beach Marriott. The parking wasn't too bad. As soon as we got there, we were greeted with a smile. We had a reservation and was able to walk right in. Nice atmosphere. It was very clean and I don't know about anyone else, but I like a little ample spacing between tables at buffets. This place had great spacing for me to carry my plate full of crab and butter back to my table. Our server's name was Eve. If you ever decide to try this place (which I highly suggest), I hope you get Eve as your waitress. She was amazing. Friendly, always smiling, checked on us often, refilled our waters, you name it, she did it all. The food was yummy delicious ono. My husband went back for prime rib a few times. We have had the breakfast buffet here in the past. This time, we decided to try the dinner buffet especially since they offered a 2 for 1 on a Thursday night Asian theme. I have to say, we really enjoyed the meal here. They have prime rib every night and my prime rib was cooked to perfection! My hubby indulged in the Asian dishes and he said they were great! they had a very fresh salad bar and the desserts were really nice. I could not finish my meal there so we asked if we could get a to go box and eat it at the waterfront. Our waiter was very gracious and gave us a box and we took our Tiramisu out on the beach! Where do I start?! This nursing home cafeteria was the most disappointing place I've ever eaten. The "test menu" as they call it was a single page of random, bland, odd unappetizing offerings. I'm surprised they served dinner after 4pm as the decor, furniture, staff, lighting, music and ambiance were that of a senior citizen care center. I had to chase the worlds worst margarita with a Pepsi. The incredibly kind waitress asked if we wanted a box as we didn't even touch the food after only a bite each. No thanks! How in the heart of paradise is this allowed to transpire? I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. I've never left a review as I appreciate all in the service industry especially during covid. Very happy with our return to the new location of Kuhio Beach Grill! When they moved up to the 2nd floor, they were just doing ala carte but now they're back to nightly prime rib buffet! Yum! We wanted to try their poke bar on Wednesday which is added to the prime rib. Ono! All fresh fish & 6 different types of poke including the Chef's special vegetarian poke with tofu & avocado. I liked that you could add extra poke ingredients if you wanted. More green onions & white onions please! Our server Keahi also explained the other specials during the week. Monday is BBQ so ribs & brisket are featured along with their prime rib. Tuesday is made to order pasta plus other italian dishes. Friday, Saturday & Sunday has prime rib & crab legs. They also offer kamaaina discount of 20% & free validated parking for 4 hours!! Deals!! If you're not kamaaina, the same discount is offered for early bird dining from 5-6pm. We were starving and had trouble finding breakfast places open early on Monday morning, so ended up eating in this restaurant inside the Marriott. We had a 25% discount due to a required resort fee we had to pay for our conference registration. We found it much overpriced for the quality and variety of food, and for the level of service, even with the discount. We sat down and it took a long time to flag down someone to ask for herbal tea and decaf coffee (regular was on the table in decanters). But then they wanted to clear plates away immediately as we ate, so It felt as if the priorities were backwards. The highlights were the bread pudding which was delicious, and the fresh fruit. And they had plain yogurt, which is sometimes hard to find. The potatoes were inedible, and the scrambled eggs were ok but not very hot. The omelet bar was fine -- at least the food was hot -- but nothing special. The hot oatmeal had few toppings available. Bread and pastry choices were uninspiring. The receipt is written to shame you into paying a full tip -- explaining what is "customary" -- even though the service provided is mostly limited to clearing tables. read more

Mother's Day Brunch(as advertised) 2019 was upsetting. Reservations at 10:30 & It was pretty much a lunch buffet with an omelet station. There was absolutely no breakfast items that you would normally have at other BRUNCH buffets. When I asked the server if more breakfast items would be put out, such as, waffles or pancakes, the server apologized and said they were trying to put out bacon. Bacon?! Smh. After expressing my concern, our server did put bacon on our table which was a nice gesture but I told her we had a lot of meat. I didn't even ask for bacon. At $69 pp at least we had prime rib and crab legs. But with that being said, then we should have been charged the price of their weekend dinner. But every Mother's Day we ALWAYS have a brunch buffet, unfortunately that wasn't the case this year. I do hope they'll fix this problem next year for other patrons. I was staying at the Waikiki resort in Honolulu, this restaurant is on the second floor of the hotel. The restaurant opens, on weekdays at 5 PM. I arrived a little bit early because I didn't know that so I waited by the door. The hostess was so incredibly nice and helpful, her name is Patricia. Hopefully you have the chance to meet such a lovely person. She escorted me to my window seat, greatly appreciated. I sat by the window and got to people watch, but most importantly watch the ocean waves crash as I sat at dinner. It was a work trip, so of course I was alone. I was also getting over a cold. When you're in Honolulu, none of that matters. It truly is paradise. The people are so nice, the weather is so beautiful, every direction you look is pure art. My server approached me, she was so sweet and petite. A ball of energy. Her name is Terri. She told me she doesn't work at the restaurant too often but hopefully you get the chance to meet her as well. She was so concerned about me getting over a cold, it was so cute. Very maternal at just the right moment. She listen to my concerns about the blackened salmon being too salty, and totally made the adjustments appropriate to my taste buds. She spoke with the chef, and the salmon ended up being almost perfect. I told her it was perfect, though. It's always the thought that counts. Since I was nursing post cold elimination of taste buds, I decided to go with a healthy meal and only water. She did bring out some lavash and delicious Hawaiian sweet bread with yummy homemade butter. I couldn't resist, nor should I have. The food was not the best, but it wasn't the worst either. It was marginal. However, my justification is the experience itself. I enjoyed myself, the window seat was beautiful, my conversations with the staff was wonderful, and their adjustments to my needs was greatly respected on my behalf. Terri asked me if I wanted the window open and I thought that might be a good idea, however I immediately regretted that when a big fly flew in and buzzed around my head for half of my meal. Went there for a wedding reception and the private room was a cute small room for an intimate setting. Food was pretty good. Considering the price of the buffet, you will get your money's worth with the prime rib and crab legs. Usually when I go to buffets the desserts would be bland but by far this is the best dessert buffet I've been to. Cheesecakes, chocolate mousse, and flan were very rich (which is to my liking). Some of the sides like the grilled eggplant and chow fun was just okay. But no one really cares for sides in a buffet so that's why I give them 5 stars and will definitely come back. read more

I don't usually expect much from a hotel restaurant breakfast buffet, but the Kuhio Grill exceeded my expectations on then attentive and friendly service (e.g. Madonna). She frequently checked on us to ensure we had everything we needed as well as stopped to "talk story" with us; making us feel like family vice a customer! As for the food; what they had was hot and prepared well (sausage, scrambled eggs, bacon, salmon, etc) but I think they needed a couple more choices to really have a winning "product" here. read more

My parents invited my son and me to a staycation at the end of his summer break. We were staying in the Marriott at the edge of Waikiki by the zoo. After a long day of swimming at the beach/pool, my parents didn't feel like venturing very far to eat dinner. Apparently, they have kamaaina specials here so we ended up here. I'd rather have gone elsewhere because I didn't think the food was all that great. Apparently if you know the workers, they will bring you sashimi and other things to the table. The service was okay though even if we didn't know anyone and get extra perks. I doubt I'd eat here again since there aren't that many buffet options. However if you're in the hotel and looking for a quick bite to eat, you can come here. Reservations are probably not required since it wasn't that crowded when we came in the summer. The all you can eat crab legs and prime rib buffet is fabulous! This is always my go-to favorite place to eat in Waikiki. The crab legs are large and steamed perfectly and the prime rib is tender and medium rare (upon request). We like to sit outside and enjoy the live music from across the street (it's not too loud to drown out a good conversation but it's nice background music). I've been going here pretty regularly since 2005 and the buffet has never let me down. For what you can spend on the crab legs alone at Costco (which you still have to cook), you get a full buffet with a wonderful dessert line and many other various dishes to try, as well as salad bar and soup selections. The Mai Tai's are also really delicious. This crab legs and prime rib buffet is my first choice, even above any expensive restaurant in Waikiki as the food is wonderful, it has a comfortable atmosphere (and outside seating), great prices and did I say the food was wonderful? If you're not into crab legs than it may not be your cup of tea but if you are - this is the place. :) read more

We were attending a concert in Waikiki so we decided to stay 1 night at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. Since I'm an Elite Member for Marriott, 2 breakfast buffet for free were included in our stay. Location: Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. Currently, the original location is being renovated and is relocated to a ballroom by the gym and pool. Seating: There are a few high tables outside and they are were all taken when we got there. There was a short line. Once we reached the hostess, we were seated promptly. There are 2 and 4 top tables as well as round tables for bigger parties. Pretty roomy. No windows so no view. Food/Drinks: Bummer part is there is no alcohol. I wanted to have a Bloody Mary, but is was a no go and the bar near the other pool doesn't open till 11 am (Side note: We headed to Lulu's Waikiki to satisfy my Bloody Mary craving as it was a 5 minute walk from the hotel). We had the buffet, I didn't notice whether there was a menu to order off on. Buffet line: Bacon, Portuguese sausage, rice, potatoes, fruits, bread, cereal. I like that they had a Japanese station with salmon, miso soup, somen salad. The omelet station was fun to watch. The cook was entertaining as he was throwing items in the pain, flipping the egg. My omelet came out great. Service: The waitress/waiter/buss people-very friendly and checked on us often. Final thoughts: I don't think I would pay for the buffet and would go elsewhere for breakfast. I'll give this place another chance once the new place opens and will update my review. read more

Perhaps they were expecting the staff to give you a hot oil massage with a free room. Then I can see where the disappointment comes in. Get there between 5-6pm and its only $24.95! So if you get seated at 5:59pm, its only $24.95! So yes, you can stay there till 7pm, but if you get seated before 6pm, you pay that amazing low price. Then after that it jacks up another $10 I believe. Which is still worth the price! Prime Rib = Is GOOD. Even the Au Jus was good Crab Legs = GOOD Full Salad Bar, White Rice, Rice Pilaf, Cheese Tray, Fresh Fruits, Mahi Mahi, Smoked Fish, Ham, Nice Staff....all GOOD Shrimp Cocktail + All you can eat = GOOD Lobster Bisque Soup = Good Dessert Bar = GOOD (except no soft serve) My Cons - No Soft Serve Ice Cream. That's it :) I will be back to this place. One of the best buffets on the island. Even had one of the better dessert buffets on the island. I dont know how this place is not more busy. All the complainants I seen on here I did not run across. I am going to highly recommend you ignore the negative reviews and come here on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday for dinner. FOOD: my Aunties were visiting this past week and stayed at the Marriott. We came here for the breakfast buffet and dinner. Breakfast buffet: meh the spread was ok. There was a good amount of options but nothing really exciting. I got scrambled eggs, Portuguese sausage, congee, salmon and some fruit. Scrambled eggs: They were ok, a little soft/runny, could have been cooked a little more Portuguese sausage: well you can't really go wrong with sausage, lol. I probably would have liked some regular link sausages too though. Congee: it was a bit bland, but that may have been my fault because I didn't add enough garnish, veggies and shoyu. Haha Salmon: flavorful, however a little dry. They also had an omelette station, waffles, pastries, yogurt etc. Dinner: we really enjoyed the dinner food a lot more than the breakfast spread. I got the hapa paella, which was my first time ever trying paella. It was very flavorful and had a bunch of different seafood and meats which really worked well together. The rest of the group got the prime rib and of course I had to try some of theirs! Haha! Cooked perfectly and tender! If also came with some veggies. It didn't come with a starch which we actually liked cause it would have been too much. We also had 2 orders of the Crispy Chinatown pork belly as an appetizer. One plate actually had more crispy skin but on the other plate the skin was chewy and not crispy at all. It was still good, but it would have been better if both orders were crispy! Overall, pretty good food (esp. dinner menu). I also had the pink guava fizz (has gin) which was YUMMY! If you like guava, it's a must try. The juice totally masked the gin! SERVICE: great service, no complaints. They were very accommodating. ATMOSPHERE: Very clean, modern and a lot of space. Also when we went to dinner on a Wednesday there was live music! Very relaxing! This is a great restaurant located on second floor of Waikiki Marriott in Honolulu. It has a view overlooking Kuhio beach right across the street. There is a full service bar in the center of the large dining area. The service staff is excellent and they are constantly checking on your needs, refilling your drinks, clearing your dishes. The food is fresh and delicious, and the selection is quite good. During our stay at Waikiki Marriott we ate here several times for breakfast buffet and dinner buffet after returning from our daily adventures. Our first night after checking in, we were all very hungry from the flight and were pleasantly surprised to find a delicious buffet with teriyaki beef, tender pork loin, and oh did i mention the all you can eat, made to order fresh Poke bar! The delicious poke mixed up fresh was so memorable! Another evening we had the prime rib dinner buffet and I got my prime rib seared to perfection. Had breakfast buffet which includes omelet station. Monday: Italian, Tuesday: Hawaiian "Local Grinds," Wednesday: Taste of Orient, Thursday: American, Friday/Saturday/Sunday: International. Of course they always have a salad bar and normal menu to choose from. We went on the Hawaiian night (Tues.), and my favorite hot dish was the Molokai Sweet Potato with Coconut Cream Sauce. Seriously so good! And you get to sit outside (if you choose) under big blue umbrellas right across the street from the beach. Great people watching! I had breakfast buffet covered though a conference. The choices of food was pretty plentiful from fresh fruit to the usual eggs and bacon. There was someone always at the grill cooking up any requests I believe. They offered 3 types of juice and I always go the POG juice. It can get busy and initially I felt that they were kinda "cold". I then realized that it is because they are busy. I can understand and I made effort to be a good customer to them with thanks and appreciation. I felt immediately after that, I felt a shift in communication, even though they were busy. Kim (who is in the morning) was super nice. The amount of food was great. The normal cost is $32. Great selection for the breakfast buffet -- we got free breakfast with the hotel package. They have your typical international buffet items (pastries, fruit, etc) plus hot items (steam rice, eggs, sausage -- sorry, no spam here!) The line for the made to order omelettes are always long, yes, even at 6:30 a.m. Tourists actually get up early to go to the beach! The waistaff are efficient and friendly. I only had about 20 minutes left of the buffet, so I loaded my plate. Food: Fresh waffles? Yep! With real whipped cream to put on top. Win! Eggs were pretty decent (scrambled) and they have a guy making omelets to order. Fresh fruit was ripe and not soggy. For a hotel buffet, it was pretty good. This has become our new buffet place to go. Not expensive, less crowded, and beautiful view overlooking Waikiki beach. Most places, especially the expensive ones, of course have a lot of variety of food. But to me you don't get your money's worth cause your full before you get to try other items or you only get the certain items, which feels like a waste cause there are soooo many other choices. Here is basic, crab/prime rib/ poke station. The hot items there are only about 5 items which is not the greatest but is not bad. Then there is a salad bar, with fruits and a good variety of veggies. And of course the dessert bar, with about 8 different items to choose from. My wife and I usually go for the crab, prime rib & dessert. So I don't feel I wasted my money by skipping all the other items. The creme brûlée, in my opinion is the best compared to other places. My daughter loves the chocolate dipped strawberries and salad bar. They have a bar, serving a few craft beers, but my personal fave, they have a variety of whiskies. They even have a flight of 3 whiskies of your choice for just $12. The staff are VERY friendly and courteous. They always made sure our water or drinks were filled, and removed our crab shell plates constantly. Well, we came here for a yakudoshi for my friend. It was buffet only and the first prime rib piece I got was awesome! The second one was too thick and a little to rare. The decor was simple Waikiki style. There's a cute outdoor seating area which overlooks the busy Kalakaua street which was nice for people watching! The dessert line was cute and had a variety of sweets. I liked the cheesecake. My friend loved the bread pudding. Park in their lot and they'll validate - 4 hours free in Waikiki is awesome! We've been here at least 5 times (for dinner) now. 1. Service is always great, our recent server Dean was awesome as has been every other server we've ever had. Nobody has an attitude and everyone is attentive. 2. Nice environment, AC, not cramped, not noisy, very clean. 3. Food is good, I do have to say it's not always great, there have been a few times when I've questioned why we keep coming back (I only just realized you can get them to sear the prime rib for you if you don't like it bloody...they don't make that too obvious and i wish i'd known earlier), but it's certainly never, ever, bad. I'm not huge on seafood and we keep going there on Fridays when that is the feature, so I sometimes screw myself out of more options. I've never heard anyone that we've taken there say anything bad about the seafood, so I'll have to take their word for it. 4. Those little creme brulee's are awesome. The tops are never crunchy but they're delicious anyway. This place has been consistently good for quite a while and although not cheap, is definitely good value (and has some good discounts & Kama'aina discounts) compared to what you get at other buffets in Waikiki. Still a great assortment for brunch and at $22.95 is much more reasonable with a wider variety than the Hyatt. The fresh fruits were excellent, especially the watermelon and papaya. They brought out blueberries for the oatmeal and the egg white omelet is great. I like the grilled fish of the day with breakfast. I sure wish they'd get better coffee! read more
