Unfortunately, Kuhn Volkswagen will go down in history as the worst experience I've ever had with an auto dealership. My daughter attends the University of Tampa, and this year we sent her to school with my wife's old 2018 Tiguan. A month into the semester, Kuhn's service department informed us the car needed a major repair -- a damaged cylinder head -- totaling nearly $7,000 in repairs. From that moment, everything went downhill. After deciding it made no sense to put that kind of money into a seven-year-old car, I asked Kuhn for some specific new-car options. The young sales rep I was assigned responded with a handful of overpriced vehicles that didn't come close to what I requested. To make matters worse, the trade-in value they offered for our Tiguan was insultingly low -- almost laughable. It quickly became clear that they knew I was 500 miles away, that my daughter needed a car, and they were intent on taking advantage of the situation. Thankfully, my daughter was able to retrieve the Tiguan before they effectively held it hostage. Carvana later paid me seven times what Kuhn offered! In the end, I purchased her a new VW from a reputable dealership here in Georgia and personally delivered it to Tampa this past weekend. The bottom line: Don't trust this dealership -- especially if you have students at the University of Tampa. In my opinion, they are opportunistic and predatory, targeting out-of-state parents who simply want to help their kids. If anyone from Kuhn happens to read this, know that I will make sure my experience is heard loud and clear. read more

Not 100% sure as to why Kuhn VW has such poor ratings, but I thought I'd update here as to my experience. I brought my wife's car in for her first service. I worked with Anh for our service performed and he provided great support. Acknowledged me upon getting there and the whole experience from check in to leaving was a pleasant one. We have had an issue with my wife's VW app syncing with her car and they had to reach out to their engineers for a resolution on that. That aside, this was a great experience overall and I'd surely recommend them to others. read more

In November, 2023 my husband and I purchased a Tiguan, Volkswagen from Kuhn Volkswagen, 3900 W. Kennedy Blvd. in Tampa. My salesperson was Christian Carvajal. Christian was an absolute gem! Kind and patient are a few words to describe him. He's a young guy but don't let that fool you. I have to honestly say, it was the fastest new car purchase we experienced. We were out the door with our new car much quicker than any new car purchases we've made in the past. I have had my car now for half a year and absolutely love it! I have had no problems with it whatsoever! It handles great and is great on gas mileage! As I sit here waiting for my first oil change I decided to write a review. While here my salesman Christian sees my husband & I. He came over to say hello and inquired if we have any problems. We told him we are just here for an oil change. He asked if we had any questions about our car that he could answer. We expressed how we love the car and so far everything is great. Hopefully it stays that way. I have a 2023 VW ID4. It was time for my one year service. I originally purchased the vehicle in Houston. Now that I live in Tampa, this was the closest dealership. I called and made my appointment for 7:15 AM. they told me the vehicle will be ready in 45 minutes to an hour so I decided to wait around and go to the gym around the corner. When returning my vehicle was ready and the service was great. They even changed my remote battery for free. The service was great, and the staff were very friendly. I read a few bad reviews prior to coming here, but that wasn't my experience at all. I would definitely recommend this place for vehicle service. read more

My wife and I just purchased a new Tiguan on recommendation from my son and daughter in law. Both have their own Tiguans for 3 years now. My son was instrumental in getting us a great deal. Our salesman was a nice young man named Christen. He worked very hard to make us happy. We didn't pay anywhere near the sticker price. The manager was reasonable and did introduce himself. Several other employees there were helpful. So far the car runs great. We brought it back to tint the front 2 windows to match the other factory tinted windows. We had some questions about the operation of some items and our salesman was a great help. He even washed our car after the tint work. I have yet to deal with the service department. Hopefully not until the first oil change. By the way the first 2 oil changes are covered. The dealership is large with several buildings and lots right on Kennedy. read more

Went to Kuhn Volkswagen after a few visits to Volkswagen of North Tampa which was a horrific experience. Met Trevor our sales rep. He was wonderful and very professional. I informed him of the horrible experience at VW of North Tampa, and he understood the situation, even though we were not in a dire need for a car. Next met Doug Ramirez Sales mgr., which was also very empathetic, sympathetic to our situation after wasting so much time at VW of North Tampa which was again a terrible experience. We negotiated the purchase of our vehicle and next met Derek our finance person, which was very professional, courteous and friendly. All I can say is everyone that we met at Kuhn VW (Trevor, Doug, Derek, Jacob, Emerson, Rob, Caleb and Melvin were so very pleasant, professional, courteous, and made to feel welcomed without any pressure on sales. I can only say that they have earned our business, and I will refer them to anybody looking to purchase a new vehicle because they are honest, friendly and reasonable in their practices and negotiations. Honestly had to come back to update my rating. Thought I had a great experience here but the service department is just another bunch of guys trying to nickel and dime you. Had brought my car in for an oil change -- I included in my monthly payment so I wouldn't have to pay out of pocket when I get my oil changed/tires rotated. They told me I'd have to pay for my tires to be rotated. I said no, check my file because that's completely wrong. Took two idiots to realize I was "correct" and they went on their way. Brought my car in to be serviced and all was great. Realized a week later that my tires had NOT been rotated (one of my tires is a different brand and I realized it was still on the front left...). Kuhn basically tried to gaslight me into it because the paperwork said it was done. Clearly it wasn't and they lied on a legal document. Another time I called and asked for help with my car acting kinda weird (wipers going off randomly when there's no rain, car being kinda slow to start). Never got a call back. Turns out my battery was close to dead so that was another couple hundred dollars I had to pay and it would've been covered under warranty if they had just told me. These are just the things I've encountered so far. If one more incident occurs I'm removing myself from them completely and I made that well known to their service department. I am a young girl and try to see the service department as my "dads away from home" but turns out they're more of a creepy uncle that tells you he's going to take you to Starbucks and actually takes you to McDonald's then tells you to pay. They're on thin ice with me and I'm ready to switch to another facility. I know some of the staff mean well, but clearly those who are working hands on with your car don't give a single shit. Updated to add: every time I have called to schedule service (oil change), I am BOMBARDED by calls and texts from associates telling me to "save money" by trading my car in. I said.... Because I need an oil change I need a new car???? I had to ask them repeatedly to remove me from their list because my car is a 2022.... I literally bought it brand new... I purchased VW Atlas and with in 24 hrs the screen glitched with lines, and now I am being told it's a software issue, also you can't control the AC when the screen glitches! I am very sad that this car is proving to have issues! Regretting my decision! My concerns are falling on def ears! I'll update you all on what the dealership says and does for me! Beware of financing a car through Kuhns. We are on our 4th VW and never had a problem with VW Financial Services. This past April we financed a car through Kuhns. They used Valley Bank and the load was supposed to be around 6.5 percent. It turned out to be over 7 percent. We received a certified letter from Valley Bank stating that they had added $4200 dollars to our balance because we did not have insurance. We provided insurance information at the time of purchase and our policy never changed. We had to go back to our insurer and get proof that the car was covered from the time of purchase. We now have to wait until they adjust the balance so we can pay it off. It took us several hours to get the documents together that was already provided to them at the time of purchase. Kuhns is a rip off. read more

I brought my 2022 SUV in for a full-synthetic oil change on June 20, 2025. The parts came to about $80, but labor was $120 and there were additional disposal and fee charges, bringing the total to $140. I should have read more reviews before being in my car here. I understand that service at a dealership is always more expensive, but their prices are outrageous. They are easily two or three times more than it cost everywhere else. I had an oil change, and I was informed that a large part of the expense was them needing to reset the oil change counter. This process only involves pressing a reset button that is accessible from the driver seat. The employees seem friendly and helpful, but it is not worth the extra cost. read more

I bought a new car from Kuhn in 2022. When i purchased i also got the extended warranty that was for 36 months or 120k miles which ever happens 1st. I called to cancel and i was told that it has expired. I explained to the Finance department that I was told that the extended warranty happens after the manufacture warranty ran out. This was not the case and the extended warranty played hand in hand with the manufacture. The current Finance Manager said that i was lied to by the Manager I had. I asked the General Sales Manager and he was no help either and just kept pointing out the paperwork that i signed compared to what I was told. Went to take my car in for a repair and since the warranty expired (dang- I should have listened to all those people calling me and trying to help me out about my cars extended warranty!) the repair estimate was $2700 out of pocket! I told my husband it was time to retire the old reliable VW Jetta diesel wagon and upgrade to a new one! My husband told Eric- our service advisor of nearly 3 years- of our plan and he called for a sales person to walk the lot with us. Hubby discovered a 2018 golf wagon with only 80 miles! It looked exactly like my "current" car but different model, used gas instead of diesel and no seat warmers or pleather interior! The reason it was older but low mileage was it sat at the factory since no dealer said they wanted the car with those specs for their lot. I drove it around the city block and said I'll take it. We didn't haggle, the only thing my husband dislikes on the punch list is the "Kuhn Advantage" but since this our 3rd car from them- he knows it's as easy to remove as doc fees! The price was fair and it had a 5 year warranty which I wanted for piece of mind. Our sales person Danny M, was quick with collecting all my information for the loan. The finance team was efficient with negotiating finance for me and got me a fair payment in my payment window. There was no bait and switch or heavy upselling in the back office. Long story short, I love the great customer service I get at Kuhn. They are attentive in service and sales has always been professional and accommodating. Like I said- this is our 3rd car from them and I see more purchases from Kuhn in our future! read more

I had the worst experience ever with Kuhn Volkswagen. The salesman that worked with me through the process was honestly such a great guy and I really wanted the deal to work out from how dedicated he was to ensure I was happy. However, the last minute his manager changed his mind after we agreed on the payment of the car and the interest rate. Mind you, I spent three days negotiating the deal over the phone with the salesman. Today I was guaranteed the price we had agreed on and a lower interest rate. I called the salesman to make sure that there would be no surprises once I arrive at the dealership. He insured me that his manager agreed to my interest rate. He sent me a video of the car that was ready for me to take home. Again, the salesman did his part and this review isn't directed to him. After driving an hour to the dealership, I was greeted by the manager who told me that there was no negotiation with the rate and tried convincing to refinance the car after 3 months. My frustration is not due to the fact they didn't agree on the rate. I am very frustrated and aggravated that they backed out on the deal when everything was already negotiated and settled. It was very unprofessional of them to treat their customers this way. This is not my first time at Volkswagen and I've always been a loyal customer. However this was my first time at this specific location and will definitely be my last. Worst customer service ever. read more

Brand NEW Atlas with loud, squeaky breaks. Management said nothing they can do because it's not considered "defective." Told us to file a claim with corporate but they day the same thing. They seem to consistently miss easy fixes (like refilling break fluid) on a break inspection visit. On top of that, some of the employees have no manners and don't care about customer satisfaction at all. It's been such a disappointment dealing with them on all levels. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had with a car dealership. Shameful! This was the first car that was being purchased for my daughter. On the phone, we agreed on a car, and as we were driving from Sarasota to Tampa, they managed to sell it to somebody else. True integrity. Secondly, we agreed upon a price for a SECOND car, we wrote the price on a piece of paper which was all agreed upon based on Josh's discussion with finance. Regretfully, I had to leave due to another appointment, but beforehand, confirmed with Finance that everything was good and yet they still ripped my daughter off. The finance lady confused my daughter so much by using stupid jargon as in this is how much you pay with the car off the lot that although we were told by Josh that the trade-in was included in the price, after signing all the paperwork and thinking it was still a large amount to Finance, we found out that the trade-in was not included in the price. That is what they mean, when it is car off the lot!!! Ridiculous jargon to confuse the buyer. Thirdly, the sales person, Josh Fernandez, who is extremely incompetent, gave us back the license plate of the car we traded in and I just received a letter from Florida highway safety and motor vehicles saying they're about to suspend my license because I have not turned in the old license plate.I have now waited three hours at the Tax office to get this rectified before my license was suspended and as expected they confirmed that it is the responsibility of the dealership to send in the license plate once a car is traded in. Highly, suggest you do not go to this dealership and waste your time. read more

Had a great experience here and I'm so happy with my purchase. My first ever car (a hand-me-down from my parents at age 17) was an '04 Passat - I've been in love with Volkswagen ever since. Unfortunately, it died in 2016. After nearly years of not having a car, (not to mention painful Uber rides, riding my bike in this heat, asking friends for rides, etc.) this was a huge deal for me. I had an appointment to test drive my dream car, a black VW CC. Jack K. helped me out by setting up the test drives for the CC and a couple other models, and the cars were fantastic, but we had appointments at other dealerships. After visiting a few, we de decided that none of the service even came close to matching the knowledge and customer service we experienced at Kuhn, so we ended up going back. Unfortunately, the CC had already sold, but I found a few others I wanted to look at. Jack was busy helping customers, but greeted us warmly and quickly set us up with Rick, who was awesome too! I set my sights on a certified pre-owned 2015 Tiguan SE, and after the test drive, decided that this was the one. Rick took his time answering questions and going over everything with us. He helped me set up insurance, registration, etc. and I was able to drive off the lot in my badass new (to me) Tiguan! Overall, it was an excellent experience at Kuhn. All of the staff members were friendly and seemed to genuinely care to help me find a great car that I love. I have already recommended Kuhn to several friends and coworkers, and I'll continue to! I plan to return to Kuhn for service, oil changes, etc. as the folks here really know what they're doing. Thanks again, guys! You rock! read more

Interesting times. Are we post Covid-19? I don't think so. I stopped by primarily to check on issues with my tires. And I had a few other concerns. There were two staff members and one customer there when I arrived. The staff members each had masks but they weren't wearing them over their mouths and noses. They were more on their necks. The customer had a bandana, it was resting on her neck. She coughed a couple of times. I'm not paranoid or anything, but it was kind of noticeable. Anyways, one staff member asked about my reason for stopping by. I didn't have an appointment. I began to explain. Twice. He kept interrupting. It was really annoying. I left my car for a couple of hours. It was really good that they could take a quick look at my vehicle when I didn't have an appointment or anything. I know they're dealing with challenges. At the end of the process they tried to get me to spend money. They didn't completely answer my questions about warranty issues. I decided to bring my vehicle elsewhere. The experience was okay but I would've appreciated a bit more listening and more direct attention to my concerns. It may have saved me time. My time is very valuable. read more

I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews of thIs dealership other than most people always feel like they get ripped off at all car dealerships. I've been to three VW dealerships in our area and Kuhn is the best and honestly, the only reason I didn't go through them with my last least, was to avoid the bridge and unpleasant trek over there from my home - most of us from Pinellas will do anything we can to avoid a trip to Tampa. We have gotten two leased Hondas and two VWs from Kuhn over the span of about seven years, and have never had a problem. One thing I'll never forget, was one of the reps (Parnell - he was always our fave!) actually drove to my office in St.Pete because there was a mishap with signing paperwork on one of my leases. I was so grateful - it may sound insignificant, but it's always so difficult to slip out of work between 8-5. I'm most likely getting my next VW through Kuhn. It's worth the trip. read more
