Really great hole in the wall #sushi spot in #sanfrancisco I would Definitely go back again. Sushi was phenom and service was really fast. I got the Volcano roll, deep fried cali roll and the spicy tuna roll. All of the specialty rolls looked I'm looking forward to going back and trying more of their rolls.

We ordered take out today for the first time. Everything was terrific! Had the cucumber sashimi roll. Omg we loved it! A Keto sushi roll! It made me so happy! And ordered a chicken skewer to go with it! Super good! Only downfall was the side salad. Dressing was good but they slopped soooo much of it in there it was totally soggy by the time it was delivered. But that being said, everything else was fabulous! We will be ordered here a lot.

Such a good place for any meals after a long day walking in the city. Perfect for whatever mood dining style you'd like: Dine-in or Take-out...the food will be well-prepared and yummy to your tummy. They have a fairly diverse menu here, from fresh sushi, to ramen, and everything in between. In my last visit around time, I came here a few times because the quality is good and loved every meal i had here. My first meal was a take-out Oyako Don (Steamed Chicken and Egg topped over rice) and it was such a comforting meal! I had taken a very long walk that day and this was just the best meal to reenergize me. The next time, I had to try their ramen and got the Shio Ramen with added spice and it was really just the perfect ramen! Came out piping hot, but really delicious. And third, got to try a selection of their fresh sushi, including their tuna and salmon pieces. All very fresh and good. The staff here are accomodating and attentive. It can get busy, depending on the time you're here. But only packed, but you'll get a table once you walk in. So if you're looking for a satisfying and good value meal, this is really the place! Hope you enjoy!

I normally love coming to Kui Shin Bo's japantown location for the dinner special ($15 for 2 entrees and salad and soup) but I decided to come to the marina location to try their sushi and sashimi combo which has 3 pieces of nigiri, 8 pieces of California roll, and 9 pieces of sashimi for $36. Unfortunately I regret getting this sushi here. When I arrived to place the order, the fish looked really dull in the case, and not fresh. The tuna was super stringy that i couldn't eat the nigiri or sashimi and the salmon didn't taste fresh to me at all - it was almost too cured. The yellowtail was the only saving grace. I think if you're looking for sashimi this might not be the place, but KSB has pretty solid rolls and entrees otherwise.

Grilled savory pancakes stuffed with seafood and cabbage and topped with sauce and mayo, okanomiyaki is my favorite comfort food from the motherland. I recently had an excellent one in Osaka at Okanomiyaki Chitoise (review: https://bit.ly/44a1Jru), so I've been on the hunt for one here in the Bay Area. I wasn't even aware that Kui Shin Bo, a J-Town staple (review: https://bit.ly/46sE8nv) had another location on Lombard. It's right off Van Ness, so traffic was busy near the lunch hour. However, there was no one in this space, and at first, there was no staff in front. I just sat myself down and perused the menu left on the table. Sure enough, they offer eight versions of okanomiyaki including a cheesesteak variation with mozzarella. Yeah, no thanks. I went the whole nine yards with the $19.99 Combo Okanomiyaki with grilled pork and seafood. What arrived bore only the most basic resemblance to the one I had in Osaka. The okanomiyaki had an odd oval shape to match the shape of the cast-iron grill that kept it warm (photo: https://bit.ly/3XDpgi3). Actually too warm as the bottom was developed a hard brown crust. The interior was rather spongey, rather frittata-like with the onions inside and most of the proteins on the top. The bonito flakes had already danced their last dance. However, the mayo drizzle was present and accounted for. Did I like it? Well, it made me speculate if Applebee's ever made okanomiyaki, it would look something like this only with a side of applesauce and a dollop of sour cream. What did work, however, were the $8.49 Vegetable Croquettes which were aptly described as fried mashed potatoes because that was what they were (photo: https://bit.ly/3pBxOcH). No other vegetable required, I guess. FOOD - 3 stars...the okanomiyaki was not quite I was hoping, more like a hash brown with extra ingredients AMBIANCE - 3 stars..,very much like the one in the Japan Center SERVICE - 3 stars...wasn't feeling like a priority customer TOTAL - 3 stars...yep, middling...my search for quality okanomiyaki continues RELATED - Exploring the Marina? Long and thick piece of yarn found in my black garlic ramen. Disgusting.

I've been coming here for years but this is the last straw. I found a long piece of yarn (which they use to tie the chasu to make broth) in my black garlic ramen. I confronted the workers and they brushed it off saying that they can comp the ramen next time and offered me a free drink. I declined obviously and told them I won't be returning. I'm not sure why they didn't consider to refund the ramen & extra chashu - pretty disappointing.

this place is pretty close to me and have never tried it before, idk why! but nice to have a sushi spot close by for takeout. got chicken wings and still flavorful even when cold (picked them up later) and like the squirt of lemon that comes with it. volcano roll was interesting! had lots going on to it. would love to try more of their rolls and other dishes too. they were pretty quick with it

Food is excellent! I had the Sashimi platter. The fish was so fresh and nice size cuts. I also had the vegetable tempura which was good perfect. Service was amazing and very attentive. The place is small, but super clean. They do tons of DoorDash or uber eats because people were coming through the door picking up orders. Pricing was great as well.

This restaurant has excellent customer service, and food that will knock your socks off! I had an excellent P14. Shrimp Tempura Roll and O1. Cheesy Steak Okonomiyaki. They were filling and delicious. Fantastic ambiance too, with music in the background.

Ordered Tonkotsu Ramen and Takoyaki. I was thinking of eating in at first but the feel of the place was frenetic that I felt better to take my order to my hotel room and just enjoy it in private. The waiters could not even wait while I was going over their menu. They were like, "I'll get back to you as soon as you're ready but for now I'll attend to these online orders." In my head I was thinking, "Hello, I am here, why can't you assist me here?"/ Am I not as important as those faceless customers? Their food is fortunately good, otherwise my rating would have gone lower. I really wish that they'd make it good for the dine-in experience since they do have multiple tables (I'm guessing there are around 20). It would.have been such a waste of real estate if they aren't put to good use. There is such a concept as a ghost kitchen nowadays. They could use those so.that their crew can attend to dine-in customers. The picture of my food is taken inside.my hotel room at the Travelodge on Lombard St.

Came with my family. Sushi was pretty good, not amazing, but fine. Was expecting our meal to cost less, because I looked at the menu on Yelp only to discover that the Yelp menu has not been updated. So, keep that in mind. I came on Saturday, at around 6PM, a little early dinner. The place was pretty empty. However, parking was pretty difficult.

I love Kui Shin Bo! They have two locations, the other is in Japantown, and both are solid. Being Japanese myself, I come here, because they have a menu with almost every single Japanese food known to man! All of it is done well too! Kui Shin Bo maybe a hole in the wall, but it is one of my favorite hole in the walls in the city. Great sushi, udon, soba, takoyaki, shabu shabu, tonkatsu, tempura, and the list goes on and on! Definitely check them out!

No, I was just there last week.

Are they still doing the 50% off because of the quarantine if we pay cash? I called and they said they don't

They eventually dropped it down to 30%. I haven't checked lately, but I believe they stopped it entirely. It was such a great deal, even at 30% off. Wish they still had it!

Pleasantly, there was more than enough room. There were at least 1-2 seats in between the three groups on each side that were there- a solo diner, a small family of 3, and my group of 4. I ordered the Karaka Spicy, my bf ordered Akamaru Modern, his sister ordered Miso, and I don't remember what her friend got- I think it was also Karaka spicy. My bf and I ordered the Treasure plate on the side to share and a side of spicy paste because I know Japanese spicy is barely spicy (from someone who grew up eating SEA spicy). Karaka Spicy had a nicely balance tonkotsu mouth feel and pork flavor. Broth was a little salty. I was correct to assume that it wasn't spicy because I used half of the side of spicy paste and I still didn't think it was spicy enough. Chashu was cooked fine. Notes: - I wished I would've asked if they could swap the thin noodles for the thick ones. I love the chew thicker noodles provide. - Noodles were cooked al dente. Akamaru Modern tasted very similar to Karaka spicy without the spicy. My bf used the other half of the spicy paste as dip for his toppings. He enjoyed it. Miso was a lighter broth (obvi) with a good umami flavor and was not watered down. Solid. She loved it. I have never seen her finish a whole bowl of ramen before. There was a server in training that took our order with the help of the trainer- he did great. Staff was attentive with our waters. Bussers were also quick to notice and remove empty plates and bowls regularly making for an easy clean up after we leave and kept the shared table clutter free. Interior was modern, but casual. They had an expansive menu with vegetarian choices, sushi, buns, karage, etc. and a surprisingly large array of alcohol. I would def like to be back to try some drinks.

Okonomoyaki tater tots - 8.5/10 from a potato lover!! This does have some sort of cheese on it so beware if you don't eat it Hamachi Hand Roll - 9/10 SO GOOD. I think the rice is mixed in with soy sauce. It was super flavorful which I wasn't expecting Scallop Hand Roll - 8/10, the yuzu on top was absolutely delicious & scallop was very soft. Kobe Skewer - 7/10, it was good but nothing extraordinary. It'll hit the spot if you like meat skewers Yuzu Tori Skewer - 7/10, same as the kobe skewer, but the yuzu on top was delicious Niku Ramen - 8/10, good portion & very very flavorful. I'm glad that they gave a lot of meat in this. I shared this & they provided an extra bowl without me asking :) It's also not super spicy. Hokkaido Milk Pudding - 8/10, the pudding itself was so good but the sauce was a little too sweet for me. However, my partner has a sweet tooth and loved it :) Will totally come again, everything was so yummy and so glad to have tried it!
