My new favorite sushi place in the city!! Finally tried this place after having it on my list for over a year and I regretted not doing so earlier! Everything was so tasty, the service was amazing and the indoor decor and vibes were so welcoming. Perfect for a days, family or friends dinner.

My friend and I randomly found this spot while exploring the area and it was the right decision to try! I had 2 starters which were fried scallops and medai capopaccio, they were great. For dinner we had 2 rolls which were dragon roll and kira kira roll, my favorite was kira kira roll, it was so tasty, had a great combination (scallops, salmon, avocado and unagi sauce) 10/10! but unfortunately the house miso soup was too salty we barely had any of it. Services were good, friendly and nice staff here. Love this place.

The omakase here is SO worth it and the quality is top-tier. It was $78 for a 12 course meal + miso soup, edamame, and tempura. The fish to rice ratio was perfect! They were very generous with the portions. My favorites were the blue fin tuna and salmon. I was very full after eating this meal and would definitely come again.

    Chirashi bowl

I came to check out Okoze sushi since it had good reviews. I got the chirashi bowl on Saturday and it looked pretty fresh until after the restaurant I went back and had the worst food poisoning, still dealing with it right now and it is just Monday. The service was good, presentation of food was good, ambiance was ok but food waiting time was long. Overall, the food poisoning killed the whole experience. Paid an expensive meal to get food poisoning. Please check your freshness of fish.

The service was very good - fast, friendly, and professional. The sushi was delicious, though a bit pricey, so each person of my party only went for one roll each. The rolls were filling and fresh. No complaints!

We finally pulled up to Okoze, and it's a 10/10!!!! The miso soup was a banger: hearty, umami, and a good amount of tofu and fried onions. If you are a fan of omakase, please check it out!! I just ordered the oh toro nigiri and the maguro, and it tasted very fresh. The fish melted in your mouth and it was buttttery. The spicy tuna is a classic and packed a flavorful bite. It's always great when you get real crab in your roll and that's what you got! In terms of service, we were the first two in there this evening and they delivered everything very promptly. Shoutout to the staff! In terms of vibes, the setting is warm and intimate. Check out Okoze for some pretty authentic cuisine.

Such an amazing hidden gem! I've walked by this place countless times and it looks pretty unsuspecting from the outside, but it finally drew me in. We were able to walk in and get a table for 2 around 6:30 on a Tuesday night, but I can imagine that wouldn't be the case on a weekend. The servers were very nice and attentive, and brought us edamame right away. It was hard to choose what to order- everything looked so good. We weren't too hungry so we settled on splitting two rolls, the Okoze Special Roll (figured we had to try it) and the Karai Maru-chan Roll. And OMG they were both so good. We left wishing we came when we were hungrier so we could try more of their menu items. The special rolls were a little bit on the pricier side, but you really do get what you pay for. Okoze is definitely my new favorite sushi spot in the area, and I can't wait to come back- this time with an empty stomach.

-2 the food is only maki rolls and sashimi. There are no dinner bento dishes. You usually get 6-8 maki rolls and they can go from 14-27ish dollars. Pretty pricey for little sushi. In my opinion. Everything is fine. Staff is friendly and get seated quick with no reservation..

We had the uni with quail egg, an order of maguro and an order of salmon.

Excellent sushi - definitely better than most and more authentic than most non-Japanese run sushi restaurants. Just so you know. I am always on the lookout for truly authentic Japanese food. Most are not, especially if not run by a native Japanese chef. Usually the flaws are that the fish is cut too large and too many sweet sauces and over sweetened dishes. This restaurant bucked that deplorable trend and served perfectly seasoned and plated dishes that I would have been proud to serve. I was raised by foodie Japanese American parents who were also excellent cooks. And.... Drum roll please... my test dishes are miso soup and tempura. Both were excellent. The miso soup had almost too much stuff in it. Most places give you microscopic cubes of tofu and a few scallions and seaweed. But this place put no seaweed but thinly sliced deep fried tofu skins (abura-age for those who speak Japanese). That is a trick that my relatives use. It brings a richness to the broth that is unbeatable. So if you want to eat miso soup the way my mom made it for company - try Okoze! The tempura had the lightest, least greasy, and flawless batter on it. Just like my parents used to make it, back in the day. Most places have me feeling queasy from all the oil but Okoze drains the tempura properly and uses very fresh oil. This is one of the best Japanese restaurants in SF. The best I have found yet! And I will be back. Make reservations and give yourself at least 20 minutes circling to find parking time. Go early. Otherwise, you will have a wait.

picked up our order. ambiance is just classic sushi restaurant. quick order. food was good but way too expensive for very small portions

    Moriawase (combination Sashimi)

Went to get sushi in SF on a Sunday evening. It was hard to find parking but once we got to the restaurant we got seated within 2min. Food (5/5): I ordered the scallop tempura and the Moriawase (combo sashimi). The scallop tempura was just okay I would skip it next time. When the waitress gave us the sashimi she explained what each fish was. This is one of the best sashimi I have tried it was really soft and fresh. Service (3/5): The waitresses were nice but it took a long time for them to even give us water and when we tried calling them multiple times they wouldn't notice. So service wasn't attentive at all. Ambiance (4/5): The ambiance was nice there was a bar area where the people preparing the sushi were at. There just wasn't air conditioning so it was a little hot inside they only had a small fan.

    Rainbow roll
    Jessica Z.

A cute and small, yet super tasty spot! We ordered sashimi and I got a rainbow roll to try more fish, and it was all fresh and tasted so good. Initially, when I first tried the sashimi, I expected it to be a little softer and have a more "melt on your tongue" texture, but after adding soy sauce, it really helped elevate the taste. One thing I did want to mention was that we had reserved a table well in advance but we still had to wait around 30 min before we were seated despite the restaurant not being too busy. Because of the size, be prepared to wait a little, reservation or not if you are going at busy hours.

The people were laughing, the drinks were flowing. It smelled really good, which we would later find out was from the food especially that Mac and cheese. We started off with different wines, some that Tom recommended based on what we told him we didn't like or did like. He apologized for our previous experience and was genuinely a nice guy. Honestly it's very admirable for a business owner to take feedback to heart and want to incorporate it. Plus he's a really cool guy when you get to know him. The staff was busy running around but still made time to come check on us. Our final verdict is we came on a bad day. This time we got the actual Waystone experience. We finally got to try the chicken bites with a creamy aioli, fries with yogurt sauce, and the star of the show was the Mac and cheese. Tik tok did live up to the hype and we will have to come back for one of their jazz nights. Be warned this place gets busy! But it's worth it.

We arrived during happy hour and nearly sampled the entire happy hour menu. Of the outstanding dishes, two stood above the others, the short rib skewer and the original hummus plate. If not for the hummus being so good, the pita would simply exist to help you sop up that sauce. On top of the excellent food, the service was extraordinary. Prompt and attentive and exuding kindness; from the head chef to the runners, those that work there are devoted to providing an experience of fine and comfortable dining. I also want to say a special thanks to the head chef for making my young son's evening. Not only did you see our needs but you took it upon yourself to see to those needs met before we even asked. When bringing your child out to a fine restaurant like Barcha, one feels worried that the atmosphere will not be welcoming to the sensitivity of your young child. You made certain that this wasn't the case for us. I've said enough--Barcha is what makes five stars shine.
