I came here for a lowkey birthday dinner with my girlfriend. We'd been walking along the waterfront, and it being an uncharacteristically nice day, we decided to grab some sushi. The spot down the block had a wait over an hour and was honestly just kinda loud. However, Wago was perfect. We had to wait about 5-10 minutes to get seated, which was of no concern given it was a Friday night. The service overall was very nice, and a man who seemed to be the owner was very sweet and attentive to everyone in the restaurant. As for the food, we split a sushi role and a bento box. Everything was delicious, and the role was a generous size. Overall, just a lovely evening. It's always a treat to eat somewhere where the owners and employees seem as happy to have you in the restaurant as you are to be there. Highly recommend as a lovely sushi spot in the marina. Came here with a group of six people so fortunately we were able to try so many different rolls! We chose a wide variety of rolls and every single one hit! There weren't really any that stood out to me, they were consistently delicious and tasted so fresh. We also got the chicken karage, which was good, but sliiiightly lacking in flavor/seasoning. My friend had hamachi, and California roll. We were advised the hamachi would take 15 minutes but came out sooner. The hamachi was perfectly cooked. The California roll was ok. All the fish they brought was beautifully presented (our many rolls came in a giant wooden sushi boat!) and it was incredibly fresh and flavorful. What a hidden gem! Came on a Sunday at 1pm and there were just a couple people. Their menu is very extensive so it took us a while to decide what we wanted so I would recommend looking up the menu ahead of time if you want to get your food faster. Sushi came out really quick on such a pretty boat display! The fish itself was pretty fresh and the sushi was quite filling. My friend and I each had 1 roll and split another. We were so full by the end of it. The rolls were a little expensive (~$20) but for the portion size and how filling it is, I would say it's worth it. I would definitely come back here! read more

We decided to sit outside because it was such a beautiful day in the city! Our server was so friendly, he gave us complimentary miso soup. Favorite roll: island roll. We liked the bad boy roll too, but the Jalapeno in it was interesting. Rice to fish ratio is great. They don't pack too much rice in the rolls :) Salmon sashimi was also amazing. Ordered pickup delivery from Grubhub. Wowowow I live in the Marina and definitely underestimated Wago sushi but I really loved my experience! I ordered four rolls for takeaway and was pleasantly surprised that they came with two free miso soups! This is such a nice touch that truly delighted me as a customer. As far as rolls go, I really liked the double hamachi and the spicy tuna rolls. The hamachi was fresh, delicious, and light. Loved the fish egg on top. I also ordered the Kevin's roll and dragon roll, which were also good, but I found quite heavy in terms of sauce. Simply delicious. Located on the eastern edge of Chestnut Street retail blocks in the Marina District. Wagu is my new go-to after Apple Store impulse shopping. I rate this restaurant 5 stars for their friendly service and top shelf sushi. I highly recommend the veggie tempura roll. Inside the thin, crispy bits is broccoli, carrot, and onion, graced with eggplant on top. The maguro nigiri was perfect, generous portion of melt-in-your-mouth fish. The ice tea was tasty, & the sweeter is on the side, featuring those little pink packages of artificial sweeteners, no thank you. - The notion of an intimate space at a nondescript sushi restaurant reflects a relatively quiet dining experience overall. This isn't one of those situations. Now, this wasn't a bad thing really. More entertaining than anything to be within ear shot of large table of excitedly boisterous patrons apparently downing multiple bottles of sake with their bento boxes. I guess, if anything, a party sardined into a an already tight restaurant merely adds to the ambiance at a sushi joint where I can only assume the noise level is generally no more above dining conversation. Granted, it is the peak of the dinner rush when I get there. So, if swinging by this restaurant in the Marina district of SF is your forte, mute overall expectations; you're definitely surrounded by others with the same hunger for Japanese dining as I did. As for the dishes, no real surprise above what other places in the area have offered: The miso is miso, the spicy tuna roll, palatable. The teriyaki salmon bento was plated in an appetizing manner, and the O.M.G roll, I found to be quite filling. Alas, if there is anything I can take from my first time there, was how the poor servers seemed to remain on constant go. Of the two I observed, both remained In high sports as they darted in between waiting patrons cramped at the entrance, and the diners themselves. The service I received definitely left a pleasant impression, but I attribute any lack of needs anyone else had mainly due to that large party taking up a chunk of their time. All in all, it's still worth another go, at least to try something else on the menu...or at best, catching the servers and staff woking at a different time that isn't so overwhelming to everyone in general. read more

"when you're here, you're family!" -- you might have briefly thought that you accidentally ended up on the olive garden yelp page by accident, but don't worry, this is wago sushi, and when you're here you are guaranteed great quality fresh sushi and to be treated like "family". wago always has fresh and delicious sushi at reasonable prices -- and service with a smile! my personal favorite is the 9 piece nigiri and the chirashi bowl. my friends (and also fellow regulars) love the island roll and double salmon roll. there's also a variety of hot non-sushi japanese cuisine options. the veggie tempura is a personal favorite. also, don't forget to ask for mochi for desert! the restaurant is family owned and operated by incredibly hard working and kind individuals (extra shout out to wan, gene, and song!) wago is good for dates, dinner with friends, or taking your parents out to dinner when they visit the city. in addition to the normal restaurant seating, there's also a nice heated outdoor parklet. give wago a try, i'm pretty pretty pretty sure you're gonna like it! read more

Just as a disclaimer, I'm critical of lots of restaurants in SF since I feel like it's overpriced for the amount they give. I work at the Presidio and a friend was visiting me so we got sushi for dinner that night. We both parked there and it was about a 10-15 minute walk over. We ordered the sashimi combo and ordered two salmon sashimi and two tuna sashimi which the restaurant was kind enough to give us three. My friend ordered a salmon tempura roll while I ordered a lion king. We sat outside on the patio where there was no one else out and it was really nice eating sushi outdoors on a nice summer day (with a heated lamp of course). The boat they put our rolls on was a nice little touch as well. I do wish that they gave more pieces like sushi places in the East bay do since our order came to $50+. Also the tipping amounts on the bottom are incorrect. It factors in 18%, 20%, and 25% of the total meal after tax which is odd because tipping is on meal amount before tax. I usually tip 18%+ anyways and appreciated the extra sashimi thrown in but I thought that was just an extremely shady practice in general. The food was great but nothing to come over for unless you're already in the Marina. I'd come back with work colleagues for lunch but likely not out of me way unless I'm already here. read more
