It wasn't dry, and they provided a thick slice of tomato, onion & a wedge of fresh lettuce. Loved the fried egg (I added some salt & pepper to the yolk and used it as a dip for my fires). The crispy bacon & cheddar cheese brought it all together: Overall the food exceeded my expectations! - Atmosphere: loved the music as I grew up listening to metal, and had a warm nostalgic feeling upon hearing the tunes that were playing . If you you dig metal (thrash, death, doom, popular and even other less popular European metal bands) -the music alone would make it worth the trip. Ok so the place has an attitude. Our waitress had a shirt that said Burn in Hell and the neighboring waitress' shirt said 51% Mother Fucker 49% Son of a Bitch. So, yes, attitude. The music is loud as well but we did not mind. We ordered the fried pickles as our appetizer and these were the best fried pickles I have ever had. Loved them. So crispy and a slight spicy sauce of the side. I had The Goatsnake and house made potato chips. I ordered medium but mine was under cooked. He ordered Neurosis and his was perfectly cooked. He had a side of fries. He said those were the best fries he had in a restaurant. Crispy and hot! The burgers were good. Went there the other day. One of the most terrible service experiences. Was handed the menu within a couple of minutes, but took another 20 minutes before asking for drinks. Took another 10 minutes to get our drinks. Mind you at this time there were only a couple of tables who all had food and drinks. 4 groups of people walked in before us who got their drinks and some food before we were even asked for our food order. Took about another 45 minutes to get our food. Not once did our bartender ask if we wanted another drink or even asked how our food was. My Mac n Cheese was dry and the burger we got was wrong. She was on her phone almost the ENTIRE time. This other guy came in and took over for her. Super nice but at that point we were done with being there . For a $25 burger and $13 Mac and cheese and shitty service I would recommend going somewhere else read more

I normally don't write reviews but unfortunately the service I received was so bad it has stuck with me enough for me to write this. I've been going to Kuma's Corner for a while now and have always recommended it to my friends. My friend was visiting from out of state for GenCon so I said "Hey let's go to my favorite burger place, good beer, great burgers and the staff is always really chill." We're both metalheads and I love being able to listen to some of my favorite bands while enjoying a beer and a good burger. We got seated quickly and the hostess was great and polite, getting our initial waters took a second but nothing too bad and we were ready to order pretty quickly. The server has a "kill all yuppies" shirt and I thought it was cool and was looking forward to our meal because I had never been served by this person before. After ordering I didn't see my server for the next hour. They were attending to all of their tables except us. I had finished my beer and another person ran our food out to us after about 35-40 minutes from ordering. My friend ordered another beer from the person running the food and I ordered a Diet Coke because I was driving. I saw the runner tell the server the drink order and after another 10-15 minutes he got his beer and he told me "I'll be back later with your diet coke." Remember, this is the second time I've seen him in maybe an hour while he was checking on all the tables surrounding us every 5-10ish minutes. I asked my friend if I had done anything wrong and he said he didn't notice anything and asked me why and I brought up what had been happening. after another 20-25 minutes my friend flagged the server down to ask for my diet coke because at this point I was about to finish my food finally since I was waiting for a drink. My friend asked for a takeout container which the server almost gave to the wrong table and He offered to pay for our meal as a thank you since I've been driving him around while he's visiting. He stated he wasn't sure if he should even tip because at that point he really didn't feel like he had been given any service. I said that I could leave something in that case since I used to be a restaurant manager years ago and I understand things happen but that they still should get something. When he paid the server made it a point to not look while my friend was putting in the tip only to IMMEDIATELY look at the tip and give a snarky "Thank you so very much" to the lower than average tip he left. Both my friend and I typically tip between 30-45% on good service because we feel like we should let people know we appreciate being cared for but for the first time in years I didn't do this because even while locking eyes with the server multiple times through the service they just stayed at the kitchen window ignoring my table for almost the entire time we were there. I don't think I'll be going back anymore because the one thing I had enjoyed was the great service but, at least in this case, it's no longer present. read more

Kuma's is an awesome place to go to for food and I love the metal theme as it's a great change of pace. While it is a bit more expensive the serving sizes here are pretty large which makes it worth it for those who are hungry. read more

My girlfriend had the Heartwork subbed with a beef patty and she loved it even with the spicy potato strips. The panko fried pickles with the chipotle Mayo were a perfect combo. Burgers galore!! Came here on a Thursday evening and had a lovely time on the patio. Our waiter was a character and made our dining experience fun. He had so many jokes and sarcasm. We started with a few beers from their expansive list. Our waiter even offered a few recommendations based on our beer preferences. We started off with the jalapeño poppers which were to die for with the sweet jam. Also great for sharing. For dinner I ordered the Yob which is the Gouda burger. My friends got the goatsnake and the pantera. All of them were so delicious. The burger toppings and creations are so unique and creative. Also the burger sizes are enough to feed two people. I only ate half of mine and had leftovers for the next day. We all decided to get different Mac n cheeses as our side which was a small up charge but totally worth it. The size of the Mac n cheese bowl was an entree in itself. You get to pick 2 ingredients to mix in. The waiter recommended chicken and caramelized onions which was a perfect combo. Forgot how much I missed this place until they re-opened today! Back and better than ever, Kuma's has taken lots of safety precautions to make those dining in feel comfortable including lots of sanitizing, taking temps, mask wearing (if you aren't sitting down and eating or drinking) and distancing tables. While you can still carry out, they have both outdoor, indoor and bar seating. The music was just as I remembered; the best amount of heavy metal. The menu has a fun theme with the burgers named after heavy metal bands with a different feel to each one. We ordered out favorite drinks to start - I love that they have plenty of cider and beer options. We also ordered the loaded bbq fries as an app. Then for my burger I got the YOB on lettuce (garlic mayo, bacon, gouda cheese, roasted red pepper) and homemade chips. Every time I leave here I am incredibly full, but in the best way. The portions are a good size and the flavors of each burger pair nicely together. I've been wanting to try this place since I moved to Indy and it did not disappoint! I will preface this review with the fact that I am vegetarian and yes this is a predominately a burger place. This place is located in downtown Fountain Square. It's a metal bar so come expecting metal music to be playing. I saw some people writing that the music was too loud but I didn't think so. We were able to enjoy conversations on the patio with the music in the background. We had a super chill and edgy waitress serve us. We sat at the outdoor patio so we could enjoy the weather. It looked like it was under construction at the time so hopefully they are expanding it! My boyfriend got the burger of the month which was the Goblin Cock in support of pride month. He got fries as a side. He didn't have any complaints about his burger. I got the Goatsnake but with the black bean veggie Patty and it was also delish. The goat cheese was a little overpowering but that is to be expected with goat cheese I feel like. I got a salad on the side but as an appetizer portion. It was pretty bland and I definitely felt like I should have gotten fries. We got a drink to share but I can't remover the name. It came with watermelon coated with Tajin. You definitely won't leave hungry here! I felt like it was a little expensive for a burger place but it was good and I was definitely full when we left. Everything was so good. There was not a single burger combination that I wouldn't have ordered. I went with the first one I saw - the Goatsnake and it was EXCELLENT. Kuma's is the best burger spot in Indy. I've known this for a while, but realized when I went this week I somehow hadn't written a review. I would probably eat here every time I went out to eat, if I didn't care about my health. Their burgers are thick and juicy, served on a pretzel bun. My favorite burger is the Iron Maiden, with the Metallica a close second. There are many burgers I haven't dared to try, only because I don't want to be in a coma after eating. (For example, the LED Zeppelin is a burger with pulled pork and bacon. I hear it's good though!) The Mac and cheese is also delicious. Much different than most restaurant mac and cheese. The menu has a list of meats and veggies you can add-in to the Mac and cheese. Sometimes I really want to get the Mac and cheese, but I love the burgers so much I end up getting both. You can upgrade your side with your burger to Mac and cheese for five dollars and it's totally worth it. I always leave here with food for the next day. Kuma's also has a full bar with an expansive beer list. The taps are constantly rotating with different styles of beer from different breweries and they have a nice variety of bottles and cans. I love coming in and seeing what is on tap because it's not your typical 2 Hearted, Bud light, etc. draft list. They offer a lot of experimental small batch beers, many of which I would have never known about or tried otherwise. If you don't drink, they also have craft sodas! The vibe of Kuma's is also cool. It's dark. The servers get to dress how they want. Theres local art on the walls. There's also patio seating when it's warm. The service is always on point. You don't have to like metal to come here. I was so excited to try Kuma's Corner after hearing such incredible things. Unfortunately, it did not meet the hype for me. The actual burger patty was really good. It was cooked perfectly to my liking, and had a nice char on it. Would def order a burger again. The problem with the burger was the bacon, which was completely raw. I didn't notice at first, as the bits that were uncovered by the bun were crispy. Which is crazy to me considering how parts were frankly, disgustingly raw. The fries were cold when they came to the table, which is a real disappointment honestly. The crunch was good despite it, I just wish they had been hot and fresh. They had definitely been sitting for a while. The stunner though was the appetizer of the fried pickles! They were absolutely delicious and the chipotle Mayo was so freaking good. That was worth the trip for me entirely. Our server was also very sweet. She was busy as all hell and still made attempts to make sure we were happy and taken care of. Kumas is, to me, the best vibe in Fountain Square. This casual burger joint has metal music playing about 20% louder than any other restaurant. The lighting is dark, the burgers have names like "goatsnake" and "iron maiden". The toppings are excessive and delicious. The fries are extra delicious. There is parking across the street, and I've never waited more than 15 minutes to be seated. A great patio for warmer months, and a big indoor dining room with a full bar. If you love giant burgers with all the toppings paired with a local brew, you can count on Kuma's. read more

I enjoyed the filling inside the poppers but wish it would've come with a ranch-style dipping sauce. FYI for all of you ranch lovers: they do NOT have ranch at this restaurant. My friend asked for a side of ranch with her fries and our waitress let us know they don't serve ranch. I ordered the Palisades Pineapple beer and loved it! A great wheat beer with a hint of pineapple. They have a large draft beer list and a wide beer variety in general. I ordered the Iron Maiden burger and it was okay. Didn't love it. I don't really like a pretzel bun and that's what they offer. Didn't realize that until it was on my plate so I ate it with the top bun off. The hot cherry peppers added a nice kick but I didn't love the rub on the burger. It made it taste a little burnt but the burger wasn't burnt...it was just off to me. My husband felt the same way. He went with the Kuma burger but didn't love it. Our waitress, Liz, was nice and very laid back. I'm glad we checked this place out but I don't think we'll be back based on the taste of the burger. Been meaning to come here for years now and I'm glad I finally got around to doing so. The vibe in Kumas is very much a hard metal type of bar. They have an extensive beer list with plenty of options (I got the s'mores stout). All of their burgers come of pretzel buns which I was a bit skeptical about but it was better than I could have imagined. I got the Iron Maiden burger which comes with cherry peppers, chipotle Mayo and avocado. The burger patty is 10 oz so it's a hefty one forsure. Burger was very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Last night, I felt like not eating too much so I ordered the jumbo chicken tenders. They were delicious! I could only eat two while my partner ate the rest. Unfortunately, the rest of the night I got food poisoning from this dish. I'm not sure what happened, this was the only food I ate that whole evening and my body completely rejected it. So bummed.
