Were to start well first off I was getting take out food from this place which led to horrible experience. I first called the restaurant and asked a simple question then when my delivery came the driver was too busy smoking and not wanting to hand me my order at all. I asked him three times then I threaten to call GrubHub and the restaurant when he finally gave in and handed me the order. Then when I was done playing the drivers little game which is unacceptable for experience driver. Then after seeing the food the meat and chicken was RAW yes Raw, I called the restaurant letting them know that they said they can only re-deliver and have new meat portion, then they said that was only if the delivery driver would want to deliver again tonight. I was shock and stunned and ask why if only the driver wanted to, then was answered "We can't control him it depends on him," which was amazing I never seen a restaurant who let the driver do anything he wants. I Called GrubHub after annoying 30 mins of trying to get my food for my cousin from the restaurant, Then GrubHub even said that the hostess was fighting with them about that too after 2 hours after receiving my food they decide to bring me new meat which was more raw then the other one so I called GrubHub and got my money back to anyone who orders from here be careful due to the fact Food is warm Temp and drivers don't know how to deliver good service. read more

Came here for a Valentine's day date - the restaurant was only half full. We were seated by the weird smelling kitchen, where the staff was rushing in and out non-stop. Despite the constant speed walking past our table, nobody helped us for a good 10 minutes. Once we ordered it took at least 45 minutes to get our food. Nobody came to check on us the entire time. The sushi was subpar and not even what we ordered but we were too frustrated by the wait to send it back. It took forever to get the check. I'm pretty sure the staff said a total of three words to us the entire time - they were all acting too rushed to be courteous (even though there was probably more staff there than patrons). Will not be going back- I'd rather eat sushi from the deli! read more

i love this place! the dinner entré (salmon teriyaki) and sashimi platters are the best! the shrimp hibachi and cortelyou roll are also my go-to. they're always fast and super sweet with delivery. it really is the best thing on this block! we order here at least a few times a month. read more

I am usually weary to eat at just any sushi spot but my sister was extremely hungry and convinced me to eat here for brunch since Kumo was in my neighborhood. Needless to say I should've went with my gut. We were also with my mother in law, my friend, and my two year old son. Upon walking in we asked to sit outdoors because the weather was nice, the young lady told us that we would have a 5 minute wait before our table was ready. Upon being seated, we weren't greeted until about 10-15 minutes later. The restaurant only had two other patrons. After we were finally greeted we ordered food and asked for water. The waitress began serving my sister her miso soup appetizer and completely forgot our water. I kept giving her a couple of chances but I finally cracked when she went past our table numerous times. After the long hiatus with our water she serves our food rather quickly. My sushi was good and my sister and her friend entrees were tasty. They ordered hibachi chicken and hibachi shrimp. My son split the fried ginger chicken appetiser and fried rice with my mom in law. A couple of bites into his chicken app I noticed the chicken was pink and rubbery to the bone (although I asked for his chicken to be fried well). I got up to find the waitress because she never came back to our table to ask us how our entrees were. Upon giving her the undercooked chicken another staff member argued that the pink I observed was from the color of the ginger, in turn I pulled the chicken apart to show her the rawness and rubbery portion of the chicken. They ended up coming the meal, but I can tell you that I will never be back although this restaurant is in my neighborhood. read more

Just one of those sushi restaurants owned and operated by Chinese people. I don't expect any "real" Japanese food in this neighborhood, but it is overpriced. You can find better deals elsewhere for sushi delivery through seamless. Could you not to put cups of hot miso soup on top of a sushi container with raw fish in it? Please. read more

Went today to this place. Never again. Ordered shrimp and scallop it was ok also ordered rice with pineapple and chicken worst thing ever. Asked waitress to change for something else was told no. Asked to speak to manager when he finally made his way to table tried to explain he didn't want to listen snatched plate and walked away. Came here last night very late for a quick dinner and was very happy. The service was prompt and everything tasted great. The sushi rolls and seaweed salad were good and the price is very reasonable. Glad to have this restaurant in the neighborhood and I'll be sure to come back! read more

This place was great. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The waitress brought out moist towelettes as soon as we were seated, offered substantive recommendations for sake, and brought us complimentary melon at the end of our meal. This rating is purely for the service and the atmosphere. I want to start by saying that the food is and has always been very good - with the exception of delivery - they suck at delivery, but for the most part the food is of good value. When you arrive, you are greeted warmly and sat, and any feeling that you had brewing that this may be a relaxing, well-serviced dining experience fizzle once your waiter arrives - if they arrive. You are treated as if you are in a cafeteria, pushy, curt answers, rushing you through your meal, taking things before you are done - and its not even a packed house! The worst part is that the space is dim-lit, and romantic in appearance, but the service does not support it - neither does the god-awful top 40 pop music that they pipe in. Simple fixes can make a world of difference. BUT this is good food for a good price in a neighborhood that everyone should be supportive of, so... If you can(and I don't support this) put up with sub-par service - Go! read more

Sushi at Kumo is just ok. Delivery is horrendous. I ordered takeout from them at least 5 times, and has never taken less than 1 hour for my food to arrive (they are less than 5 blocks away from me). I have never posted a Yelp review before, but this time I was compelled to do so, because I waited 90 minutes. I called them to ask where my food was, and they told me that "the girl in the front forgot to put in the order". They didn't even apologize or offer me any reason to keep me as a customer. The food is fine -- basic sushi -- and we've had a fine time eating at the restaurant. However, delivery is TERRIBLY slow. I waited over 1.5 hours and finally got my (simple and small) order of two rolls and two dumplings. The dumplings were cold. There's a wide range of hot lunch special starting with a Bento Box and much more - I've tried a number of them and any one is a good bet to satisfy your lunch appetite. Let me tell you about my experience and mind you this was just take out. I ordered a Boston roll. They said it'll be ready in 5 min. It hadn't even been 15 min and they're blowing up my phone. This cashier who's a male had the nastiest attitude. As I'm handing him the money he snatched it right out of my hand. The Boston roll on top of that tasted so sweet that it was nasty. The lettuce looked like cheap dirty lettuce. This place is only two blocks away from me and I refuse to go back there again. I'm never coming back here again !!! read more

ordered the lunch special yesterday (delivery)and was very impressed. I got the delivery within 10 minutes. Everything was yummy. I decided to order take out sushi for dinner and boy was I disappointed. Got 3 rolls and paid $15 and only had two bites. The avocado roll: the avocado was spoiled, the rice was stale and the roll fell apart. The Eel avocado roll: looked really scary. Lots of eel sauce slapped on, hardly and eel....and the eel that is there is SPOILED. Will NEVER order from them again,,, . I should have read the yelp reviews prior to ordering....learned my lesson. This establishment needs to get with the times and stop using animals as decoration for their tacky restaurant! The fish tank behind the counter is over-crowded and filthy! I plan on calling the ASPCA and health department on this this situation. Its misery, not a decorative touch. We arrived at 10:15 on a night when the restaurant closes at 11:00. There were two waitresses working, one very nice one, and one, who was rude, impatient and pushy, who took over the table when we told the first woman that we needed a few extra minutes. Our food came out at 10:35, and at 10:45, rude waitress made a dramatic show of putting the bill in the center of the table. She kept coming to check every 2 minutes, and finally at 10:50 she said, "you can pay before you finish you know." I was literally putting the last bite of food in my mouth. I told her I would pay when I was finished (which was 90 seconds later). It's absurd to have all of your staff hovering over your last patrons (we weren't alone) so you can lock the door at 11. If you want to lock the door at 11, close at 10:30. This is standard practice! Decide when your "last seating" will be, and then let your customers dine in peace. Being rushed through my entire meal really soured what would have otherwise been a really positive experience. I'm not sure if I'll be back. read more

I didn't have anybody to take so I said to hell with it let me take somebody I could enjoy my time with. "very nice!" I thought as i pulled the seat out for my mother.My mom and i decided to try and enjoy the day by going into this random but intriguing restaurant. When i entered I was greeted with a smile and "How are you" that is already a plus for me not much small restaurants do that, and the people all seem to be nice. The place had wooden chairs and tables, that looked like they were made from bamboo and a single candle in the middle of the table(Classy). The atmosphere seemed cool and chilled. There wasn't much people though. The foods are pretty much all traditional Japanese cuisine so i wouldn't recommend going in there and asking for a hamburger with fries. It was like a break from the old traditional American food so i was happy to try anything on the menu I couldn't pronounce. I order the Tempura with some apple juice and my mother order chicken teriyaki with plum wine. The food didn't take that much time we were actually surprised they served us so quickly. The food was presented very well but the only problem was it did not satisfy my hunger, but that is all. The whole vibe of the place was generally good, I found it awkwardly easy to strike up a conversation about pretty much anything whether it be the nice calm atmosphere or the next time our schedules aren't so busy, so we could come back and reconnect. And after that second order of Tempura i was stuffed, I am planning to take my girlfriend for her birthday next week. If the place looks awesome in the day it should be amazing in the night. read more
