    Miso Soup and Edamame

We enjoyed our dinner on the patio and the service was excellent. We will need to return soon to try a Japanese entree as we both had the shrimp fried rice (!) with sides of edamame and miso soup. The fried rice entree was very ample and we both left quite full.

I've already reviewed Kuro several times... So let me just say: get the Golden Shrimp. If I could eat a whole plate of Golden Shrimp, I would, but then I would probably be ill because it is so rich. I had a delightful piece of Saba (mackerel) nigiri and then I ordered the Kuro burger (burger at a Japanese restaurant - crazy?). My companions had a Salmon bento and a salmon select dish. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Amazing!!! Amazing service and great tasting food. I was amazed at how fresh the sushi was. Their menu has a great variety of different entrees. We drove about an hour to come here and it was worth it. I will definitely be coming back.

Really enjoyed dinner at Kuro Bistro. Started with a glass of plum wine and it was the perfect balance of sweet and earthy. The sushi pizza was amazing. The half portion of hibachi teriyaki chicken was just right. The ambiance was warm and cozy great for a weeknight dinner.

Great, clean sushi restaurant with a nice seating area and lighting. The service was great and the sushi portions were plentiful. Highly recommend

What a great spot! This was the first time I have been there and it did not disappoint. We had the golden shrimp appetizer, gyoza and sashimi plate. Everything was delicious!!! Our service was great as well. Very fast and accurate. This place gets busy and I'm happy we booked reservations. It seemed to clear out after 9 pm, however. Parking is easy as they have a parking garage right near the restaurant. In the summer I've heard they have cute outdoor seating. Overall I loved this place and will be returning!

Best place for Asian food in Lake Forest. It's not like there's a whole lot of good choices to be honest. Kuro Bistro is a place specializing in sushi. Actually there's lots of Asian food on the menu, but that's the best stuff they have so get it. The prices are kind of high it seems but that's not surprising because this is a rich ass suburb and money is no thing. After getting off of the Metra train, we came here at lunch. It's the best time to come because of the lunch specials. These are a little cheaper and you can save a few bucks on some rolls and other things. Most rolls here are too expensive. The best one was the AAC Roll. It's $10, which was a lot for a small one. This has asparagus, avocado, and cucumber in case you didn't know that. Got us a couple rolls, with a drink and appetizer, and we saved a few bucks. The rolls were pretty small. It was made basic. These were finished in a few minutes. Good flavor. It's just the prices and portions that are the problem. The rolls aren't that much to eat but you still pay a lot whether it's a big roll, a regular one, or whatever.

It was very expensive and just OK. Plus, if you're sitting outside, you get the lovely train coming by every five minutes.

I'm catching up on my reviews and I am just drooling as I type this out. Kuro Bistro has my heart for best sushi. I travel all the way from downtown Chicago just to eat at Kuro bistro. I don't mind the drive since the food and environment keeps me coming back. I've been a fan of Kuro Bistro since they first open. I am a returning customer who can't get enough of their sushi. My favorite rolls are the crazy salmon and the fire tuna. I came in with my friends and nephew. We ordered a bunch of sushi and my nephew ordered the chicken katsu don. Overall, the prices are pretty similar to all the other sushi places I've been to. The biggest difference would be the quality of the sushi! It's the best!

The Wagyu skewers with the yuzu sauce was delicious, as was the tempura. The bread had an everything seasoning on it which made it flavorful but a bit salty. For our steak we ordered it medium rare but it came out more well then medium rare but it was so busy and we hadn't seen our server for a bit and were trying to get out before it got busier that we decided not to say anything. It was still flavorful and delicious just a bit tougher than we're used to. It came with the side of sauces and the chimichurri was my favorite. Overall a good experience, we look forward to coming back again soon.

We headed there for Happy Hour, which runs from 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM and is definitely on the short side! We actually thought we'd be the only "early birders," but the bar area filled up surprisingly fast, so clearly this happy hour is popular with the locals. Sophia offers a fantastic $10 Happy Hour menu featuring cocktails, beer, wine, and five appetizers. Between the two of us, we ordered four of the five appetizers offered, and honestly, every single one was a hit. The Potato Croquettes were incredibly light and fluffy, the Ahi Tuna Crisp was absolutely delicious, and the Nashville Chicken Bites packed great flavor. The Meatball Sliders were another standout -- flavorful and juicy, and actually held together instead of falling apart after the first bite! To make the evening even more special, the bartender heard we were celebrating our anniversary and surprised us by comping a dessert: the Sticky Toffee Bread Pudding. Absolutely delicious and the perfect sweet ending to our meal. Even better, our total bill came in under $100! I highly recommend @Sophia Steak's Happy Hour if you're looking for affordable yet classy dining in Lake Forest. Next time, we'll definitely be back to try dinner.

We were seated promptly in the formal dining room which was nicely decorated. Our semi-circular booth was spacious and comfortable. There were different sections in the restaurant that were more casual, tailored to the different tastes of the clients. Overall, food was delicious and portions were huge. I had a Boston Clam Chowder and a Gulf Grouper as the main. I would usually order a salad, but I didn't this time as each entrée came with a large plate of homemade roasted vegetables and wild rice. The Boston Clam Chowder had real pieces of clams in it. However, it was just lukewarm. My grouper looked great and tasted flavorful, but it was somewhat over-cooked (and therefore not tender), which was unfortunate. My wife had a bowl of Lobster Bisque and an order of Stuffed Flounder that had crabmeat sandwiched in the fish. She absolutely loved her choices. Our daughter had a Charbroiled Walleye and liked it too. Her only disappointment was the garlic bread being hard and dry. Our daughter and I each had a Chardonnay Stags Leap which was good, while my wife had a Virgin Mojito and truly enjoyed it. Surprisingly, the highlight of the night was the slice of tiramisu that our friendly and professional server Greg brought to me! It had a lit candle for my birthday, and Greg teamed up with two other waitresses enthusiastically sang me a happy birthday song! The tiramisu was excellent, creamy and not too sweet. I am not a dessert person but really appreciated this. I have a suggestion for the restaurant: as the portions were so large and each of us brought home half of it, it would have been nice that they make the portion 40% to 50% smaller, and lower the average price of $40 per entrée accordingly. It might help attract more customers. Just my two cents. All in all, I had a lovely birthday dinner at Boston Fish Market. Ambience was good, and service was outstanding. We will certainly return again.

It seemed like the…read moreperfect option for our party of 8 being relatively centrally located and getting lots of recs. Overall, husband and I found Boston Fish Market a letdown. The price to value seemed very imbalanced and this is coming from someone who is quite accustomed to city prices. The menu is huge, IMO too big. It would be great if they trimmed it down to do fewer things flawlessly. This place is great for big groups, the room we were seated in is built for parties of 8+. We started out with the garlic bread on our table and ordered the appetizer platter. The platter was fine, but the addition of guac was odd and it wasn't very good. I ordered the lobster roll and my husband the mahi. They only serve the lobster roll hot, but I generally prefer cold. The bun was a pretzel roll, which I didn't love. They should put the butter on the side, so the whole thing felt dry. They served it with tartar sauce, which was an interesting choice. Husband was unimpressed with his mahi. Service started off strong and then fell off a cliff. Our server was attentive when we needed to order and then absent through pretty much the rest of the meal. We asked a busboy for more water and someone went to find our server to get our check. Basic things like ketchup for fries wasn't even considered. Maybe the Des Plaines location is better, this one didn't live up to the hype or price.
