I think the vibes of this place downstairs is a lot more casual but upstairs is pretty cute with little floral decorations on the stair rails. We decided to opt for the upstairs view, just to see everything and wow.. kudos to the staff for walking up with our food lol I feel like I would die walking up there with food (spiral-ish stairs). Kusshi has several locations, and I'm glad that I was able to try this spot out. They had delicious appetizers, chirashi, and we tried some sushi options such as the seared salmon belly, tiger roll, and (I think?) dragon roll. Everything was superb and arrived in a timely manner, and also with beautiful presentation. From our viewpoint, we can also see the sushi being made from essentially a bird's eye view. Our favorite portion of the meal was of course the seared salmon belly... so definitely try that if you're a salmon lover! There's also a happy hour menu here, so maybe if I'm in the area and there's traffic, I'd stop by here to kill some time and eat some sushi! As a sushi-lover, I was pleased with the quality of the fish at Kusshi Ko! While I am familiar with the other concepts located in MD/DC, I was excited that this opened up in Tysons. There is plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. The interior was colorful with two levels of seating. My table ordered the Sashimi Platter and it was both beautifully decorated and delicious! The menu itself is pretty affordable compared to other high-end sushi spots, but it doesn't shy away from the quality of the fish which I appreciated. NIGIRI SAMPLER (12 PCS) - 27 My friend and I both got a nigiri sampler each and ate each piece one by one and discussed our thoughts afterwards. A fun part about eating sushi with others is being able to talk about our preferences for the variety we got to try. The ones that stood out to me the most were both salmons (one had an interesting creamy/mayo truffle dollop), salmon roe, and red snapper. I didn't like the mackerel (really salty and fishy). They have multiple locations spread out around the DMV area but their Tyson's location is conveniently located off Route 7 with plenty of parking. They have good happy hour deals and occasionally have coupons that pop up on their social media pages making a visit much more worth it. They offer all the standard maki and classic rolls in addition to some more unique specialty rolls and sashimi. The Chirashi was a good portion and had quality sashimi slices over a bed of rice. The fish was fresh and the cuts were fair and well done. I think my only complaints are that they put a Wasabi sauce on all the sashimi (I like to eat mine naked) - I liked the sauce but it made me suspicious.... what are you hiding? Maybe put it on the side? Other complaint was the Chesapeake roll claims to be lump crab meat- was definitely crab, not lump, and the roll itself was a bit dry and not too much flavor - but I did appreciate that they didn't smother it in sauce like a lot of spots do. Ama ebi especially with the fried head is not available everywhere. They do it well here and it's really reasonably priced. We ordered 2 haha. The yellowtail belly was really good. This is the second time we've had Kusshi Ko so I feel like I've got a good handle on it now. They had a BOGO deal for the firecracker roll, pork gyoza and shrimp shumai so I decided to try them. Between the two, I preferred the pork gyoza only because the shrimp shumai didn't have as much shrimp flavor as I typically like. The firecracker roll was fairly fresh and flavorful. The highlight for me was the fatty salmon nigiri and would definitely get those again. For the price without the BOGO, I would skip the shumai in the future and get the gyoza. The firecracker roll was not amazing but good enough to get again. Would absolutely recommend Kusshi for the Nigiri, I'll try some other rolls next time and be getting the fatty salmon nigiri again. I had just finished a 10K and had a hankering for some warm noodles. Kusshi was available on GrubHub with an awesome coupon, so I took a shot. It was an excellent decision. I went for the veggie gyoza and ramen fully loaded. Everything was packed up nice and tight, so there was no leakage in the bag. And the presentation for being delivery was still spot on! I appreciated the options to add and remove toppings from the Ramen pretty easily. A lot of times it's just you get what you get. Taste wise everything was excellent. This has become my new favorite sushi spot in the area. The restaurant has 2 floors and this great art mural on the wall. My friends and I started the evening out with some Kusshi wings, chicken Kaarage, and the Japanese pickles. For the entrees, we ordered the salmon avocado with ponzu sauce, fatty salmon belly, sashimi sampler, 8 + 8 VIP nigiri & sushi sampler, and their A5 wagyu sushi tako. Wow everything was buttery delicious. The salmon belly is always a must order. The premium VIP sashimi and A5 tacos really made our evening. The A5 also had saffron and foie gras. I'm a huge fan of the Kusshi group. The menu is still evolving with this new location. Service was spot on and we got great value for what we paid for. I was so excited to see that a Kusshi Sushi was opening in Tysons, since I've heard good things about it but didn't want to make the drive to Rockville. The store is located at the corner end of the shopping mall and while it looks small from the outside it's quite spacious and has a plenty of seating on both floor and balcony. I really liked the interior design of artwork and minimalism. Service was also great and staff were all friendly! But I was most impressed by their food. The nigiri comes in 2 pieces and sashimi in 3 pieces per order and for the price the portion and quality of each serving is very good. Tysons is the newest location so we are excited to have another sushi option in the area. It is located in the corner of the Pike 7 shopping center with TJ Maxx and next to Panera. The restaurant is a bit on the small side but there are 2 floors so another 10 or so tables upstairs. It's not your traditional Japanese wood all-over setup but more industrial bare bones ...more modern feel. On to the food... Agedashi Tofu - nicely fried and the sauce is spot on with big pieces of bonito flakes. Rolls - Nationals, Firecracker, and the Phoenix - Good variety, fresh sushi, nice toppings Chirashi - a bit on the small side but fresh, tasty sushi Seafood Udon - good mix of seafood - clams, shirmp, fishcake, etc. Broth is more on the soy saucy side. Katsu donburi - excellent rendition - perfect pork with little fat, fried to perfection, very tasty katsudon sweet/savory sauce. Salmon Teriyaki - also a bit on the small side but a nice variety of veggies under the salmon.
