Service - As first-time visitors, we really appreciated the friendly and attentive staff. They helped us get one of the honeycomb tables, which had an amazing view. Even though we were a bit tucked away from the main area, the team still made sure we were taken care of, which was a nice touch. Food/Drink - I tried the Katsuobushi Pork Ramen, and while it had plenty of ingredients, I found myself wishing for more noodles - they also use the traditional Japanese ramen bowl where it's a wide rim and gets narrow towards the bottom. I will admit though, given the market rate, it's a fair price. The broth didn't have much flavor, so we ended up adding some spices from the table. Been here twice already and I've had great experiences both times. The wait can be quite long (we waited 30 minutes to be seated) and so there is some expectation for how the food and service will be. Despite that, I still enjoyed the food I ordered and the service was prompt. The interior is beautiful and ornate, it takes inspo from wood and Japanese elements with the layout. The food isn't quite authentic to traditional Japanese ramen and appetizers. I realized this after ordering the popcorn chicken as it used Chinese five spice powder. Still it tasted really delicious. My favorite item on the menu I've tried so far is the Chicken Yuzu Shio Ramen. The chicken broth is rich and the citrus cuts through the richness and balances the flavor really well. So glad we stumbled on this place! I looked up reviews ahead of time and was slightly skeptical based on everything I'd read. We were tight on time and needed to stay in the area, so we took our chances and we will DEFINITELY be back! The atmosphere and ambience captured us from the start. But we came for ramen so that's what we got... Chicken Ramen and Pork Ramen. The noodles, marinated egg, and all the soup additions were perfect. The chicken broth was not bad but seemed a little bland. I would eat it again but it wasn't the best ramen broth I'd ever had. Apparently the pork broth was great! They also have a slurp and win where if you have a certain red stamp at the bottom of your bowl, you get a free gift card for a single item to use at your next visit. Great way to get people to finish their ramen! We actually won with one of our ramen bowls! At the end of the meal we tried the Matcha and Red Bean pudding and what a delight it was! It came with a small side of heavy cream (or maybe half and half) but it was delicious without it! Such a cute presentation. The service was friendly and pleasant. First time ever trying omarice and it was amazing. So Kyuramen opened recently right down the road from me and I found out about it from a random video on IG. My kiddo is in town for new years and so it seemed perfect to take her there. Apparently, it was an empty space prior and just the architecture work alone is impressive. Wood honeycomb patterns everywhere you look. There are some more private seating areas and one with the framework of a sake bottle and a giant wooden tree that graces the back part of the restaurant. The food should live up to that, right? And yes, it does. We got an order of takoyaki, a pork steamed bun, ramen and a katsu omarice with demi glace sauce. My daughter said that it was the best takoyaki she's ever tried. The pork bun was sweet and the ramen broth was smooth. The katsu omarice took a while to get, but it was well worth it. The egg omelet was silky, the fried rice had lots of texture with all the meat and veggies and the pork katsu had a great crunch. Of course the demi glace covering it pulled it all together. Walked in, added my name to the waitlist tablet, and waited about 30 minutes before getting a text that our table for two was ready. The place is modern and sleek inside, and they have these cool "private" booth seating areas. We got seated at a hexagon table, and since we already picked out what we wanted while waiting, ordering was a quick and easy. Staff was friendly and kept checking in on us, which was nice. What we ordered: *B2 COMBO* includes ramen, desserts , and drinks -Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu is a rich pork-based broth with soy sauce. It was a bit salty for my taste, but still decent overall nothing too memorable, though. - Sapporo Miso ramen, my boyfriend loved this one. The broth is miso based, and he said the chashu was super tender. - Matcha Pudding with red bean was soft, custardy and a little hint of matcha was good pairs perfectly with the sweet red beans. - The Japanese Cherry Blossom jelly was listed in the set but they were out, so we went with tiramisu as substitute. Best decision ever it was "not too sweet" and I legit scraped every last bit LOL. - Lemonade & Thai Tea both drinks come with the set. I found the lemonade much more refreshing, while the Thai tea didn't stand out as much in flavor. *Popcorn Chicken* This was my least favorite dish. The batter was thick and didn't have much flavor so def ask for a sauce to dip with! Additionally, the pieces were larger than expected for "popcorn" chicken, which made it harder to eat in one bite. *Pork Tonkatsu Omurice* Omurice is basically fried rice wrapped in a soft, fluffy omelet, and this one was pretty creamy and satisfying. I asked for a side of demi-glace and curry to try, and honestly, the curry was the winner for me. The fried rice was a bit too wet and mushy for my liking since I prefer it a little drier. There's a slurp & win look for the red stamp on the bowl's base to secure your prize and gift card. Save and use it next time when dinning-in at Kyuramen! At the end of the meal, they brought out wet wipes with our which I thought was a nice touch. Wow! Just walking in, all the decor is gorgeous. There was a wait when we came here, about 15-20 mins which wasn't too bad for a group of 4. Though not all tables were full when we came which is fine. We ordered the takoyaki, popcorn chicken, Yakitori Platter as an appetizer. Then ordered the tonkotsu omurice and the yin yang bowl. For the omurice, the server let us know it would take 20 mins for it to be ready, and likely our ramen would come first. However, all the main dishes came at the same time which was nice. Appetizers came first. The takoyaki, wasn't hot at all. Just room temp so didn't taste fresh. Not bad though. The popcorn chicken was fried nicely, and we enjoyed the various chili powders they had to use. The Yakitori Platter was a nice assortment of different skewers. They ran out of the pork belly one so we replaced it with another beef one (additional charge was made for that skewer cause of price difference). The skewers were good, wish it had more char on them. The zucchini, scallops, chicken and beef were cooked well and had a nice sauce covering it. The tonkotsu omurice we added curry sauce on it. The rice was fried rice, nice fluffy omelet with curry on top. The tonkotsu was crispy and nicely fried. I wish there was more curry sauce though. It was nice to see the staff cut open the egg and it was just cooked perfectly. The rice also came with a drink, choice of Thai tea or the amazing lemonade. The lemonade was refreshing, could taste cucumber and lemon with it. The yin yang bowl is a great way to try two different ramens. One was spicy, other was not. Good balance on the flavor of the broths which I liked. Noodles were good, toppings on it were good too. Probably one of my favorite places to get ramen now. I'll need a second visit to try a few other items but my first visit to Kyuramen was decent. Not amazing but they just opened recently and are still getting their footing. The interior space is lovely. We waited about 35 minutes for a 2-top and were seated in a raised booth that overlooks the other tables. Service was okay: people came by to check on us but sometimes it took a while. Friendly staff, still in training. Food didn't take too long to arrive. We had the popcorn chicken, which was a good sized portion. It was pretty tasty but we wished it came with some mayo or lemon wedges. There are 3 kinds of pepper on the table so we added some togaroshi to the chicken. I had the Tonkotsu Shoyu ramen and while I liked the broth and the toppings, I wasn't a fan of the noodles. They were not as chewy as I prefer. Husband had the spicy Tonkotsu and said there was an unusual spice in it he wasn't expecting. He said cinnamon but I was getting five spice when I tried it. We came to see Christmas lights and figured grab dinner beforehand. Stopped at this restaurant on Sunday evening 3 days before Christmas. Signed in at 6:29pm. Table of 6. Two kids under age of 10. We waited for 70 minutes. No much seating at all. You had to go sit at their tea shop across the hallway. Understanding that this was the 8th day of opening and lots of customers. So...you sit at the TBaar Tea shop and I'm thinking the restaurant owners are thinking that as long as the customers are waiting on food, then are going to purchase boba tea drinks and snacks while they wait. We got seated at 71 minutes of check in time. Service was quick...water, tea or anything else. We ordered our food quickly. All three of us ordered the Yinyang Bowl. The two kids ordered Vegetable Miso Ramen and Korean Kimchi Ramen. Appetizers ordered was Octopus Balls. It was crunchy. The Japanese Fried Oyster was fried. Yinyang Bowl was divided into two sections in a bowl. Lots of top goodies. Not much noodles. And it was sizzling hot when it came to us. I really wished there were less msg in this bowl. I drank three glasses of ice water and was still dehydrated. So...a tad more noodles. Cut down msg by half. Decorations were "honeycomb" setup. The upstairs was Chinese letters in each table for two. Date nights. Everything was made from wood. The owner came by to chat with my friend and mentioned that his family is investing their time in the restaurant. Mention how proud he was of the designs of the interior of the restaurant, which took 14 months. Definitely try this new restaurant out. This place looks amazing. The decorations, the honey combo seatings are cute and fun. Lots of opportunities for photos. The service was great. In the honey combos, they have a call button to get service right away. Seems like any one of them has the information of your table in their tablets. The food selections are great. Very good broth for our two different ramens. Two types of desserts, green tea pudding and cherry blossom jelly. I prefer the jelly since the green tea doesn't have much of green tea flavor. After you finished with the ramen, the bottom of the bowl would have a chance for a free dessert for the next visit. Smart idea so you will drink up the broth. We won, so we came back for the creamy udon and the omuirice. I have only seen the fried rice done this way on TV in Japan. This is my first time. Very good taste and fun to watch. My honest review for this place is that what it lacks in the food they make up in the ambiance and gorgeous decor. We came on a Thursday night with a group of 5 and it was not very busy at all. We were greeted and seated right away and the waitress did explain that they all share tables so don't be alarmed when different servers come to our table during our meal. They also had these nice quality wooden plaques and coloring markers for my toddler which was a fun activity while we were waiting. They will also hang it up in the restaurant afterwards too. We got a few different ramens to try and the prices are a little higher than other ramen places. The spicy ramen (#6) my hubby got was pretty spicy which he enjoyed and the mild ramen my SIL got was more spicy than she expected so advice if you don't want spicy at all definitely just let them know no spice. The appetizers we got were good: Takoyaki balls hot and the popcorn chicken nice and crispy with the perfect spicy Mayo dipping sauce on the side. I was really excited for the omu rice and it was a cool show demo they table side and I was recommended the curry sauce on top. The egg was fluffy and creamy but I was not impressed by the lukewarm fried rice underneath. Overall flavor was a little one-note but the pork cutlet was delicious. I did appreciate them letting us know that the Amazing Lemonade had cucumber in it since it's not something you'd expect in a lemonade but I didn't think the flavors really worked well together. The space is absolutely beautiful and you can tell there are little details that make this place special. I wish the food will match up to the decor in the future! Went for a late lunch. Not a ramen expert but this place was awesome. Fun decor, tasty food and outstanding service. I came straight from the gym and had an unquenchable thirst. Not once did I empty my glass to empty before it was refilled (at least 5 times). Young staff that clearly gives a shit. So unusual these days. I got the curry ramen and it was delicious. They were out of the meat I asked for (fried pork) so we substituted the not fried pork, which was outstanding. I was excited to hear about this newer restaurant on Yelp and on Instagram. I was curious to try and it's close to my neighborhood. The restaurant atmosphere is unique and fun. 10/10. Interesting sitting levels that are shaped like honeycomb hexagons, and a secret nook of hidden booths that looks to be a beautiful alley lit by lanterns and the main dining area which is adorned by a gorgeous wishing tree. So many fun picture moments. The food was good. I loved getting a combo meal which included a Thai tea and a table service of the cheesy omelette - classic Omurice which had a special table service gravy pour. I will definitely come back again. They also had a robot that would bring drinks to certain tables. I was intrigued by the T-bar menu too. The food and atmosphere were delightful. Service was a little slow, but we were enjoying the ambience and robot server, so we didn't mind. The only 3 things that need improvement are as follows: Please have more vegetarian options. There is only one ramen and some zucchini skewers for vegetarians. The vegetarian options seem limited. I had the Omurice which they said did have some chicken in it a and a pork based broth. I rarely eat meat and decided on this dish. I absolutely loved it but wish a vegetarian version could somehow be on the menu too (since that's usually how I normally eat). Adding Vegetable tempura, soba, sweet potato, squash, etc would all be great. I wanted to try their cherry blossom dessert, but it was out for the day. There were a few things on the menu not available on a Sunday late afternoon when I visited, which was a bummer. Lastly, I visited a few weeks ago, but was still intrigued by their TBar drink menu. A robot brought out drinks and their coconut and tea based drinks looked very good. I came back on a recent Saturday and was going to order a drink to go from their tea counter. There was a sign that said 45 minutes for drinks. I was surprised and taken back by this since they had 5 employees and no line. There was only one group of people waiting and they said they were waiting for take out, not a drink. I finally went up to the counter and asked the cashier if the sign was true to it's word. She said no, things are better, but it's still going to take 20-25 minutes. When I saw 5 employees and only one party waiting for a to go order I simply didn't understand why it would take that long to get one drink. Maybe they had lots of table orders, but their system definitely seemed off especially since that area looks mainly like the drink bar and not the food kitchen. She didn't apologize or explain and wasn't that friendly or knowledgeable. It discouraged me from getting one - so I walked out - which is something I rarely do. I just didn't have that kind of time at that moment. We've seen this new ramen spot on social media for the past 2-3 months, and recently got to try it out twice, once with the kiddos and once without. The decor here are very camera friendly, lots of interesting art pieces and cool furnitures. I found out the second time that Google can make a call to ask about wait time and text the result back, not sure if this is common and require participation into the program from Kyuramen. The selection of the types of ramen is more than what I've seen, most places are focused on a specific region of Japan. The Omurice is something that's not typical in the Portland area, and I really enjoyed how smooth the egg is combined with the curry sauce; I typically don't enjoy the Asian mushrooms which was in the fried rice, but the sauce covers the taste. Tonkatsu is lightly breaded, which is crispy and delicious, priced reasonably as extra. The bao is nice, I've always thought it's a Taiwanese dish (gua bao), but it's done nicely with all the same ingredients at Kyuramen. I also want to call out that the pickled cabbage/sauerkraut is on point, which I have ever seen at a Japanese restaurant, but please keep that around! All in all, Kyuramen offers a different experience from most ramen shop in town, it's a bit far from us but we will go back when we are in the area. read more

Every dish we tried was flavorful, beautifully presented, and served in the most magical, cozy environment -- the vibe alone makes this place feel like a special experience. Unfortunately, the service during our visit didn't match the quality of the food. We weren't checked on at all after our food arrived, and we never received our check. After waiting a while, we finally went up to ask for it and paid at the front. That said, the food was so good and the setting so unique, I'd still recommend trying it -- just go in knowing that the service might be hit or miss. They have lunch special from 12pm till about 3pm or so where you can order any ramen bowl off their main menu and select a half price appetizer to go alongside it from their specials menu. The staff was pretty attentive with service and we didn't feel like we were waiting long for any orders to go in or our food for too long. The servers share tables so they're usually pretty attentive about your needs. Very easy to go for lunch on their special and get very full. Also love their spices they have on the tables of cayenne pepper and others you can add to your broth to up the spice. Will absolutely be back to try a different spot to sit and take in the vibes from a different location. read more

The ambiance is great! Food was ok.. It might sound weird but I like adding rice vinegar in my spicy ramen, and all the ramen places I've been has rice vinegar. I ordered the combo a, that came with the white garlic tonkotsu shouyu ramen, pork bao bun and matcha pudding with red bean. The bao bun was fluffy, spongey, and super satisfying. The sauce it comes with has a nice sweetness to it that complements the savory, tender pork really well. It's served with mixed greens, sauce, and pork that is simple but delicious. The portion of the ramen felt a bit smaller than other ramen spots. That said, it was still very filling. I do wish there was more broth as it leaned a little more noodle-heavy. The pork in the ramen was incredibly tender, thiugh very thinly sliced but with a subtle barbecue flavor that really stood out. The broth was hearty and flavorful, and definitely one of the highlights. The noodles are on the thinner side (I personally prefer thick noodles). It came with toppings like bamboo shoots, sweet corn, and spinach which were cooked well and added a nice texture and flavor to the bowl. The matcha pudding wasn't for me, but to be fair, this was my first time trying matcha. It came with a small serving of milk to pour over it, but it didn't add much in terms of flavor. If you're already a matcha fan, you might enjoy it more than I did All in all, I would come back to try more items, as the vibe and setting of the restaurant were cozy and the service was very good. read more

Odd place to find but what a pleasant surprise. Reminds me a lot of the modern Japanese places in Tokyo with it's decor or new and old. The ramen broth is heavy, like a nice bone broth that's been cooked for a long time. It has a good mouth feel without being oily. It is just flavor coating your mouth nice. For me, it can use a pinch more salt but that it what the little additive wooden boxes are for. Just like any restaurant where they give you salt and pepper, you get a spicy pickled hot thing to add or the very common 7 spice powder that is everywhere in Japan. The noodles are chewy without being too soft and the skewers are just tasty. Yes they have vamos and few other things but remember Japan and Taiwan, China and other places has been inseparable for thousands of years. They are all good. Not too expensive and thoroughly delicious with a nice environment. The only thing I'd pick on is the late service, after you eat, they are a bit slow to get water and I had to ask where was our combo dessert. There was like 8 people on the floor and it was an oversight. I hope they fix this. read more
