This was my first time at LP steamers. Brought a friend who was visiting from out of town and it didn't disappoint! We tried a bit of everything-got a few blue crabs, steamed seafood platter, crabcakes, cream of crab soup, and corn. All was delish and we left full! Found this place by just looking for seafood in the area. Glad we came here it was exactly what we we were looking for. We ordered the b'oht load of food, mac salad and corn. Personally I am not a huge fan of old bay but wanted the seafood experience. Good amount of food but would definitely see if I could do less or no old bay in the future. Holy moly, this place has some awesome seafood. We got a steamed platter, soft-shell crab sandwiches, fried crab cake, onion rings, calamari, and also 3 large crabs to go. Everything was delicious, with my fav being the sandwich and calamari. Loved how big their onion rings were, and the portions were great. Our server was super nice and it's decorated nicely inside. I think we hit up LP Steamers on an off day. They put us in an empty overflow room upstairs, which translated to servers repeatedly forgetting about us. We had to ask for napkins, spoons, water...you get the picture. The food was disappointing. Despite what the board said, the waitress told us they only had small crabs left, which were okay but not a lot of bang for the buck. We supplemented with a crab cake that was forgettable, two cups of crab soup that were cold and so salty that we left them untouched after the first bite, and coleslaw that was tasty. First time at LP Steamers and we loved it. My daughter and I had fried pickles, which were surprisingly good with a bit of a kick and delicious breading plus a nice dipping sauce. Then we had shrimp, snow crab and medium blue crabs. They only had medium so that made the size choice easy. However, even medium were reasonably sized and we each had 3 which was enough with the other food. The snow crab was delicious and we ordered a second helping. The shrimp was also really good but beware, the cocktail sauce is packed with horseradish. I loved it but it was a bit spicy for my daughter. The crab and shrimp are covered in old bay which was very good but make sure you like old bay. They don't take reservations but we came at 5 and sat right away. Service was fast and friendly. We are in Baltimore area for work and decided to try to find a good crab place. We are staying at a hotel and don't have "equipment' to take food home with us, so we had to pass on the first two places we came to because they weren't able to accommodate our limitations - lol!! We would have made a gigantic mess and would have had no way to clean ourselves up. Also, our hotel room would have smelled like crab and Old Bay. We ended up going to LP Steamers and ordered a lobster tail, single medium steamed blue crab, crab bisque, and a pound of steamed shrimp. Oh, and a Diet Coke. The Diet Coke came first. I was sad to find that it was Coke Zero. Not a good start to my LP Steamers experience. Then came the lobster tail and crab soup. The lobster was lightly coated in Old Bay and presented still partially in the shell. The presentation was great and the lobster was tasty. The crab soup/bisque was thick and creamy and delicious. The shrimp arrived and looked well seasoned. There was Old Bay coating the entire portion. The shrimp were very good, but there was way too much seasoning on them, in my opinion. I usually like food to be well seasoned, but this was even too much for me. I was trying to wash off some of the seasoning in the butter. The crab was served. It was perfectly cooked, fresh, and decent size. Thankfully we asked them not to put any seasoning on it because we had more than enough on the shrimp. The seafood was really fresh and well seasoned! We had the fried razor clams, hush puppies, old bay fries, 2 dozen large crabs, and some crab cakes. I like that the classification of size of crab is done by weight, not just size of shell. The large crabs were pretty meaty and were fresh so they just slid out of the shells. The hush puppies were good, served with a honey butter so it was a bit more sweet than savory. The restaurant is very large, with multiple floors for seating, and the wait staff were very friendly. They even got additional sizes off the boat during our meal. Crabs aren't cheap, but you know that, right? It was one of the fattest crabs I've had and was so good. While eating it, I learned the importance of cracking the crab at the joints. Past couple times visiting Baltimore I have stopped in with my family for dinner. They have always had blue crab when I've gone and they're good. Not overly expensive and plenty of other food options on the menu. Had a great couple of visits teaching my boys how to pick blue crab. Highly recommend a visit if you're in town. read more

I would say their prices are very fair, but our crabs seemed overcooked. I'm guessing they cook all their crabs at once and reheat them by boiling them again, which causes the meat in the crabs to dry and shrink a lot. I do love their old bay fries and their Maryland crab dip with soft pretzels. Their burger is also ridiculously cheap! Great customer service. Just beware that they do not take reservations, walk-ins only and if they are low on crabs, they don't offer take-out for crabs to reserve them for dine-in patrons. This place is designed on a corner house. We were seated quickly on the second floor. The waiter was friendly and took the drink order 1st. I ordered wine which comes in a plastic cup. I ordered the crab dip as my appetizer. It was just ok. It was missing the old bay taste to me. We got a dozen of large crabs. They were $120.00. Everything came out quickly. However, the crabs were not hot. They were just warm. A little disappointing. The crabs were a nice size. The seasoning was ok on the outside but, the inside of the crab was bland. I guess this is good for someone not looking for complete flavor. Over all service was great. I just was not impressed with the food. I say check it out for yourself because depending on the taste you're looking for this may be what you want. It just not what I was looking for. My friend and I shared the dozen. What a great find!!! Didn't really know that we were going to stop here but so glad we did! We ordered the Bho't Load of Food. It has everything one would want, clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, lobster tail, & crab! Oh and it came with a pitcher of beer We came at the right time - late afternoon ~ 4:00 so the place was not crowded. We opted for indoors although this time of year (May) would have been terrific. Our server demonstrated on how to crack the crab and soon we were on our way! Every bit of this meal was awesome. We took our time and we managed to eat all of the seafood!!! My go to crab house in Baltimore. In the Locust Point neighborhood and there is usually on street parking. I find it a little fishy it only has 4 stars. Must have been here ten times and never had a bad crab. They're hot and heavy and jumbos are usually available. Their fried scallops and hush puppies are great but you go to a crab house for steamed Maryland blue crabs and Natty Boh beer. It can be messy so dress accordingly. Amazing crab experience! We were recommended this place by our Baltimore friend's friend, and it was conveniently located next to Fort McHenry, where we spent the morning. We were ready to feast, and feast we did. LP Steamers had paper, bibs, and mallets--all of which were on our "must have" crab experience list. If only they were located by the water, it would have been perfect. Ah well! It was busy on a Tuesday afternoon and they were definitely understaffed, so service took a while, but everyone was really friendly and helpful. We started with two "Natty Bohs"--not sure why these get a bad rap. We liked them! They're great on a hot day with a crab feast. Overall the food is great here, but the garden salad (only ordered to get our greens in) was unimpressive because we hate those bagged croutons and random sprinkle of bagged cheese, and the tomatoes were hard as hell. But! On to the good stuff. The crab cake was excellent--just the right amount of broil on so much crab. YUM. We also loved the old bay fries because the salt level was through the roof, which is just how we like it. And...the fresh crabs! We managed to get two different tutorials from the staff, and while we were absolutely terrible at executing meat retrieval, it was so much fun. Crabaliciousness! Our order had mediums, and we ordered 6 for the three of us because we were nervous, but it was way too much with everything else on the table. We'd recommend starting lower and adding more if you need. Great place with great vibes. We had a really fun time here, and would recommend it if being on the water isn't a nonnegotiable for you. Picked up my homie from BWI and we came straight to L.P. Steamers, which is about 15 minutes from the airport. My friend was very clear that she wanted Maryland crabs when she landed lol. We wanted a cocktail and moscato, but unfortunately for us, L.P. Steamers only has beers, ciders, and a few wine selections. Our waitress suggested Devil's Backbone's "ready to drink cocktail" in a can called "orange smash" that had orange juice flavors and vodka (10% alcohol). It was definitely better than we expected. On to the food: we shared steamed shrimp and onions (which were tasty but could have used a little more seasoning). I ordered the pricey snow crab legs and they were pretty decent. We stopped by LP Steamers for dinner since my boyfriend said crabs are the best in Maryland and this place was well worth the 30+ minute wait. We found street parking nearby and when we entered the host put our name/number on their waitlist -- in the meantime we waited inside and looked at their menu via QR code. We ordered: * Meaty's Mouthwatering Crab Dip ($13) * Bowl of Half and Half Soup ($10) * 1 order of Nub's Famous Crab Cake ($18) * 2 Large Crabs ($15.84) * 4 raw oysters - 2 local and 2 premium ($9) spent $69.80 total My boyfriend enjoyed his oysters (only wish they told us where the oysters were from). Meaty's crab dip had a perfect cheesy / onion flavor paired with fresh soft pretzel breadsticks. We definitely wish we ordered more crab cakes. You just have to try it!! Half and half was good -- we added crackers and the crab chips into the soup to add texture but it was very reminiscent of clam chowder. Last but not least, the crabs. The crab meat was delicious and sweet and the seasoning coated outside was totally different from what I'm used to in the west coast. 3.5 stars. (I'm sure this would be a solid 4 if they had other whole crabs). We came here on a weeknight (Thursday 12/29) while we were staying in Baltimore for a few nights. I wanted some oysters and husband wanted crabs. Unfortunately, the only whole crabs available were small female. ((The weather and numerous canceled flights affected the crabs they were able to ship in)) So he opted for 1lb of steamed crab legs. My eldest also ordered the crab legs, while my youngest opted for a kids cheeseburger. I got half a dozen oysters (shared three with my husband) and fried clam strips with onions. I also ordered hush puppies for the table and steamed broccoli. We were walk-ins and were quickly seated - by seated, i mean we were told to walk up the stairs and find an empty table with the classic brown paper draped over it. That said, it took a while for us to have the server come over to take our orders. From what i could see, there were three servers, but they must e been covering both floors of the restaurant. This place is almost what I would call a no frills place but the food was pretty decent. Husband and eldest enjoyed the crab legs. My youngest did not like her cheeseburger. It was a square patty, reminiscent of the kind you were served in an elementary school cafeteria. Then again, this place is know for its seafood, not kids burgers. The clam strips and onion rings were pretty good. There was one onion ring that made me think it was a scallop, but it was the center of the onion, batterer and fried. The oysters were fresh and great! There were a few small shells, so watch out. The broccoli, surprisingly, was a hit with both girls. There were tiny clumps of old bay gathered on a few of the florets, but easy to brush off. There are NO cocktails or wine here. If you're okay with beer, then You'll be alright. The kids had pink lemonade and fruit punch, respectively. I had a Coke Zero. There's free street parking and a small lot next to the restaurant, but we didn't know how to get into the lot without break the traffic laws. So glad we came because we had a great time! We got seated right away for 6 people upstairs. They asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside but we chose inside because it was cooler. I wanted a crab cake and got one; it was very tasty. Others wanted to try more of a variety and I think. We got that. We had to get the hot steamed crabs which they just pour onto the table when ready. They give mallets to help open them up too. We also got the steamed sampler which had oysters, mussels, shrimp, scallops, and lobster. What a great a variety. When in Baltimore, this is the place we go for crabs. Its a short drive from the inner harbor but well worth it! Plenty of street parking available. We have been here multiple times and the food and service is always spot on. They have multiple floors and have added outdoor seating too. Come for the crabs but also enjoy all the wonderful appetizers. The crab dip with the fresh pretzel bread was a huge hit and also the hush puppies that come with a sweet butter dip. We started off with an order of fried soft shell and some curly fries and ended with two larges each. The old bay seasoning was just right and the crabs were so fresh and sweet. I wish I have a larger stomach to accommodate all the food - would have ordered more steamed crabs, maybe some shrimp, a she crab soup hahaha. Agree that service isn't the best as we had to wait 10 minutes for someone to even take our order and then our drinks didn't come till halfway through our food. I haven't eaten in LP Steamers in so long. I can't believe it's been seven years! LP Steamers is a neighborhood staple. I enjoyed dinner here with my friend a few nights ago. We ordered the seafood boh - lobster tail, clams, mussels, scallops, shrimp, raw oysters (which we picked, steamed is also an option) and eight large crabs. It was more than enough food. The crabs were great and good size. Everything was perfect! Our meal also came with a pitcher of your choice of beer so we had a pitcher of Octoberfest. We really enjoyed the old bay fries too. It was crisp and seasoned perfectly with Old Bay. I can't believe it took me so long to eat here again. The service was fantastic. I didn't realize I wrote a review seven years ago. Came to Baltimore for a quick trip and knew I couldn't leave without getting some crabs! LP Steamers is the perfect spot for a no frills seafood experience. Between my brother and I, we shared a dozen large crabs ($95/dozen), a cup of cream of crab soup ($5) and a cup of Maryland crab soup ($4), crab cakes (2 for $34), and the steamed sampler ($25). If you come here and struggle with all the menu options, just know this: get the crabs and cream of crab soup. Rating for this review is based purely on these 2 items, which are both 5 star menu items. My brother and I definitely underestimated the crabs - each one was bigger than our heads, and were extremely meaty! The crabs came out piping hot and steamed to perfection, and were doused with a heavy sprinkling of old bay. Don't worry about looking cute - this isn't the place for that! Roll up your sleeves, dig in, and use that mallet! The cream of crab soup is a really hearty chowder, and is superior over the Maryland crab soup. Regarding the other items - Maryland crab soup just wasn't my thing. The soup is more tomato based and had crab flavor for sure, but it was a bit sad in comparison. Crab cakes were good and were packed full of crab meat rather than filler. I'd say the fried is waaay better than the broiled though. Also, I'd skip the steamed sampler next time (comes with clams, mussels, oysters, scallops, shrimp, and a lobster tail). It sounds like a lot of seafood, but it wasn't really anything to write home about. The clams were also just reallllly tiny and shriveled. From my research, one of the two classic crab restaurants to try in the Baltimore area. I was able to stop by on my way back from DC. You can order crabs individually by size. We had a few jumbo sized crabs. I think 2-3 each depending on appetite is enough to get a taste. But it is hard to really get full on this type of food since it takes forever to pick out the meat, but that's part of the fun experience tbh. The staff were very friendly and showed us how to properly crack open the old bay-covered crabs and where the meat was. They provide tools to get at the meat hidden in tough to reach spots like the claws and knuckles. Classic seafood shack metal tables and decor, and cleaner than average and a nice place to eat. There is small outdoor shopping district nearby so was nice to walk around a bit afterwards. read more
