Every time I need repairs, which has been often lately on the 224, 000 mile Toyota Tacoma, I expect that what needs to be done is going to cost an arm and a leg. Then Ace calls with the estimate and the price is always less than you would expect. From the seat belts to the door locks and everything in between, Ace and his mechanics have fixed it. Highly recommended! Called ahead of time and asked if I could come right in with an unexpected "Service Engine Soon" that had just appeared, spoke with Ace who assured me that they will check it out. Repair turn around was almost immediate, he fixed the issue and the service engine light was away but he also addressed an issue that I've noticed in my car for years (slight vibration), that has never been addressed or blown off by many auto repair services. I just got back from LA Auto Care and I just had to write this review, these guys lost my business right off the bat, I walk into LA Auto Care and I noticed a sign that said Ace would be back in 30min so I decided to wait in the Lobby, I was there for about 10min and one of Ace's employees walks in and the first words out of his mouth is "Ace is not here, your going to have to come back" (wtf) I didn't like the way he said it with his tone of voice and the body language and then this employee sits his ass on the couch and starts to eat sunflower seeds (WTF!) heres what I expected to happen... and how it should have played out: sorry sir but Ace is not here right now, HOW CAN I HELP YOU TODAY. would I recommend this place to my friends... After a month and a half of weekly visits to my old mechanic who was unable to help me resolve my car issues, I finally decided to take my car elsewhere. I then had my car looked at by a second mechanic who claimed they could not hear the noises that I described and that my car was "most likely fine"... After reading some very positive reviews online about LA Auto Care, I set up an appointment to bring my car in to Ace and his team. Ace kindly agreed to go on a drive around the block together, so I could point out exactly which sounds seemed concerning. He too was able to hear the unusual sounds. Within less than an hour Ace contacted me and informed me that my car's serpentine belt was way over worn and desperately needed to be replaced. He was able to order and replace the part very quickly and by the end of the day I had my car back and the sound was gone! My car wouldn't start because I had left a light on over the weekend. I got it jumped, but I don't know much about cars, so I wanted someone to check the battery level. Toyota (I drive a Corolla) was going to charge me $45 just to check it, so I looked on Yelp and found LA Auto Care was super close to my house. Ace was so professional and nice! I am a do-it-yourselfer, but sometimes I have to go to a shop. We were referred to Ace (the owner) around 2000, when he was still at a smaller location, and have been coming back ever since. He keeps modern equipment on site to handle the modern cars electronics boxes as well as complete engine swaps or simple oil changes. He earned our trust. Aside from being a good guy, I was impressed with his knowledge. As an example, we had a car that was bought new in Canada, and Ace was the only guy that knew the ins and outs of the Smog Check system to handle it. Two other shops just turned us away, and we were about ready to junk the car because we could not get it smogged. Ace saved us a lot of money that day, because we kept the car for 5 more years before selling it.
