The overall service was okay, but the food was awful. It seemed microwaved and tasted old. Pretty disappointing.

They were very busy, but were able to seat our party of 6 right away. We were happy to see that they had a whole section of "lite" and low carb options. The portions of food were good size. They had indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of it. The food has good flavor to it. read more

AUTHENTIC MEXICAN RESTAURANT?? Not one bit.....oh boy!!!! Just a bad place overall. After we were seated, it took 15 minutes before someone came to get our drinks order. We went ahead and placed our food and drinks order at the same time. Approximately 40 minutes later, another server came with our order but it was all wrong. After getting 2 out of 5 orders wrong, we decided to cancel the wrong items because he told us "we can fix it but it will take longer to cook". Instead of saying, hey we got it wrong but I'll put a rush to your order..nope!!!. After speaking with the server he told us the food, he told us that the food came out wrong because we didn't specified to the server that we WANTED MEXICAN TACOS and not "American tacos".....give me a break! you would think that when your biga** si g that says authentic Mexican food, that that's exactly what you are getting....one of the plates that did made it to the table(carne asada)was just bland and no flavor. My wife's chicken soup..just bad and tasteless. All I'm trying to say is that this place has nothing authentic about Mexican cuisine. This place is just another typical, Tex-Mex place that claims authentic cuisine, flavor. Tortillas are packaged not hand made, guacamole(from a can or jar) not hand made, beans also from a can and are tasteless, enchilada sauce(from a can). Food was good, but after several visits things changed. Prices went up and standards came down. The cheese dip became smaller and more expensive. It just wasn't worth the walk up the high staircase or long walk from handicapped. Haven't visited in a long while, but I really hope things got better. read more

We went for lunch on a summer weekday around noon. It was not very crowded. It took at least 10 minutes for somebody to get our drink order. Our plates were also cleared from the table without asking if we were finished. With that being said, the food is really quite tasty. read more

My overall experience here was mediocre at best. I would still go again, but it would not be a 'destination' for me. FOOD: I had the fajitas and they were definitely decent. Not extraordinary. Of course they had chips and salsa - which no one can go wrong with! LOCATION: Superb location. Two words: FREE PARKING. The interior of the restaurant is a little dated and not in a good way. They have two sections. There were several families there, making the place pretty loud. A wandering child decided to join me in my booth. None of that was the restaurants' fault, but it did not make for a calm and relaxed atmosphere - it was more like a fast food restaurant in that sense. SERVICE: The servers were friendly, but not attentive. I never received by bill, so I walked up to the register and waited a couple minutes. Margaritas weren't very strong, but the food was excellent. Cheese deep was good. I got the carnitas, which were superb. I really enjoyed the beans and rice as well. Good food // horrible customer service. I ordered the chicken fajita lite. Great proportions and heavy on the guacamole which was good but not great. Had to flag down our waiter to get my husband a refill on his diet coke. Never was asked for a refill on mine nor our chips & salsa. Waiter finally came by and asked if we wanted our check. I almost stopped the manager but he didn't look like he cared either. There seemed to be no specific job tasks; all employees seated customers, took orders, and rang people up. Great dinner!! Chorizo cheese dip was so good I ordered a second one. My combination plate was also delicious! Waiter was great too.

We came for lunch, and since it was fairly cool and breezy outside, we decided to sit outside at the picnic benches. They're nicely spaced out for social distancing which is a plus. We got the Texas lunch fajitas, which were outstanding! We're a little bit of margarita snobs, and ordered the small frozen pitcher of the Texas margaritas. We could tell that "frozen" meant the drinks and a lot of ice had been blended rather than slowly frozen in the margarita machine, and those were a little bland. I think that if takeout was my primary focus these days I would do everything possible to ensure the quality was up to snuff to be eaten at home. I was not impressed with the food, the rice tasted old, the beef in taco mushy and flavorless. My chili Rellano was scary. The verde sauce was essentially soaked in to the enchilada and little to none was even showing, my taco shell broke all apart from being in the to- go container and that lettuce was soggy and gross. The overall presentation from a 15 min ride home was severely disappointing. I checked the food before I left and had requested extra lettuce. What you see in the pic is their version of extra. At that point I requested more and was charged 1.61 for a little thing of wet shredded lettuce. Honestly it feels like people have no pride in what they are serving these days and when you spend $40 on dinner for 3 people I expect a Little bit more. Let me start by saying this was the worst experience at a restaurant I've ever had. I've been in food service for over 20 plus years including being an owner. So I understand if things go south but there's a way you handle it as a manager and staff. First the server took our order without writing anything down. I ordered the Mexican style guacamole, two adult entrees, two kids meals and two drinks. We got our drinks pretty quickly but we never got our guacamole. I told my wife when we didn't get our guacamole it was going to bad and it was. 3 tables that came in after us got there food first. The server said "oh hmm, you haven't gotten your food yet let me check". 10 mins later still no food. So my wife proceeds to speak with the manager and said they can only discount 10 percent. I wasn't to concerned yet but when we got our food it was cold. That's when I decided to speak to the manager when I paid the bill. They didn't have a care in the world about the service or the meal. His excuse was is was in the kitchen. I didn't care if he was in the kitchen or doing whatever, my concern was they never came to my table and addressed the issue at all. If the food was hot and correct I would have been ok. Piss poor excuse from management and staff. The food was not worth it. read more

It was definitely not a good experience. Our server never made it to our table to bring our appetizer nor water that we order. We had to constantly brag any one walking by us to to see where our server was or if they could bring us more salsa or water. Food was also not good! Hope you don't have the same experience!!! This turned out to be what I would expect from a Mexican restaurant in a small Georgia mountain town-mediocre food with very friendly service. The chips seemed like they were store bought and the salsa was bland and runny and seemed store bought as well-not a good start. I had a combination of a chalupa, burrito and tamale, with a beef taco on the side. The chalupa was pretty good and the guacamole was freshly made-a huge plus. The burrito was filled with beans and no meat and I didn't even finish it. They tamale was OK. The taco was pretty good. I didn't care for the mole sauce which was red and almost sweet. I prefer the brown mole that has a little bite to it. The server was very friendly, which added a pleasant touch to the meal, but the food wasn't good enough to merit a return visit. read more

Server forgot about our margaritas until the food came out, and when we did get them it was being kicked in the face by a lime juice. After a day of tubing, we came across La Cabana Restaurant. Wasn't sure if we wanted to eat Mexican food in Helen, but everyone was starving. Honestly didn't know what to expect of this restaurant. We were a very large group, the waitress took my order first. We waited like 45 minutes for our food. The waitress messed up 4 of my family members orders, and she forgot to put in my order and my younger sons. We waited 20 more minutes before my son and I received our dish. When I finally received my dish, I only received one burrito, when I ordered two. Was very disappointed with the food, I'm Mexican, the food is not authentic. It tasted like Taco Bell's. I also ordered a Piña colada and it did not taste well. My nephew asked for the manager, and the manager fixed the problem and made sure everyone's dish was correct. Just a total bad experience. Would not recommend this restaurant if you want authentic Mexican food, because it is not. Everything tastes like it came from a box or a can. You have been warned. Helen, GA restaurants scared me, but La Cabana was good. We came in for an early dinner. The restaurant looked spotless. There were tons of employees, but our server kept going MIA making our dinner a little longer than anticipated but not a big deal. They do a great margarita. It didn't taste only like mix which was refreshing. The chorizo dip was great. Chips were fresh. We shared the Texas fajitas for one and it was enough. Tons of meat.
