I was so excited to taste how good the plantains were I stole any and all leftovers from my friends at the table to bring home with me. Let me begin with the positive: we were taken to our table in no time (our wait time was perhaps five minutes for our group of six). Our bus boy was very nice and attentive . Our server was also very attentive and very accommodating (terrible on my part not to ask for their names) ! On to the not so positive: Several plates were ordered: palomilla steak (It was ok but nothing to brag about). Sangría was good but not the best (yes I had two cups)! My husband's carreta sandwich was very small especially compared to those he had a while back. Sandwich typically contains pickles and mustard which lacked. Oh boy, he was not happy. Wow I'm disappointed. I ate here for lunch the other day and the food wasn't good which is a surprise because I usually enjoy the flavor of everything I get at the la Carreta on bird rd and on Kendall dr.. I had lechon that was hard and tasted old. Also the waitress was terrible and I don't consider myself to be a needy client. It took 15-20 minutes for her to even come to the table and get or drink orders. Everyone ordered water and food and it was another 10-15 minutes before we got our waters. The next day I tried the coffee window and the lady was nice but I gave $5.00 on a $1.50 bill and only got $2.50 back. I was disappointed because I love la Carreta but not this one. To sum it up: Pan con lechon was room temperature and dry, fries were old and cold, Mariqitas were a combination of stale and fresh, apparently you only get one small cup of water per meal, and butter that comes on the bread is so much it coats your mouth and throat. Ive grown up in the catering and restaurant business my entire life since my mother is the international chef of the family and it sucks to say how plain and mediocre the food has gotten over the past years since then. This restaurant would have gotten a better review if it hadn't been for the rude woman at the front desk. I have been here twice. My first experience was very enjoyable. The second, could have been better. I walked in with some family members who were visiting from out of town. As soon as I walked in the door the hostess began speaking Spanish to me. I answered in English, and you would think that would be a clue that we need English menus. Instead the woman rushed us to the table and literally threw the menus down and walked off. When we started to review the menus we realized they were all in Spanish. I got up and since the hostess was no longer at the front desk, I had to help myself to the menus. This place used to be good a long time ago the decor is dated the furniture needs to be tightened and cleaned with bleach. All the food was cold sandwiches were not pressed for sufficient time. Experience was terrible, my boyfriend left his ray bans on the table and when we went back (not even an hour later) They said they didn't find them, and the camera just happened not to get the table we were sitting at. To start the waiters was got an attitude the moment we asked her to repeat herself because we did not understand what we said and it was all downhill from there. The food portion was child size. I went to La Carreta on Saturday afternoon. It was very busy and I was told it's a 30 min wait. But I only waited 20 min. My party of 6 was promptly seated and served fresh water and bread. This location of La Carreta is somewhat out of my way, located next to Rooms To Go at the International Mall complex in Doral. The establishment is nice and big and decor definitely lets you know that you're in a Cuban restaurant. I will not go into detail about the food since I have reviewed La Carreta's location in Miramar before, but my favorite dish to have is Chicken Milanese. The service is generally good although the last time I was here for brunch with my father, the waitress brought out a different sandwich than I had ordered. Verdict: If you're in Doral and want inexpensive good hardy Cuban food, visit La Carreta. You will not be disappointed. read more

Again, she was asked if it was meat & she assured her that it wasn't meat. It was. We went with a large group and a friend of ours also ordered a pan con bistec. I don't usually give a bad review unless it is well deserved. Today is my brother's birthday, so we decided to go out for lunch and have a good time with the family. The waitress wasn't attentive at all. She would start talking before we finished ordering, and she was also a little rude. However, the big disappointment came when we received the food. She got wrong 3 out of 5 orders. In the meanwhile, she did not stop even once to refill the water, or ask how were we doing. My dad had to call her in order to get another beer. Regarding the food, I guess I was out if luck, my grilled mahi mahi with yellow rice was the worsts I have ever had, including the rice. The rest of us did not complain about the food, so again, I guess it wasn't my lucky day. When she brought the two Cuban espressos (they were out of the only dessert we wanted), she also brought the bill without we asking for it... On top of that, it wasn't our bill, but another table's bill. Unfortunately, they won't have a second chance, because we are not going back.
