    La Carreta Cuban restaurant

Haven't been to this La Carreta location in years and although looks exactly the same with zero investment upgrading, updating or renovating... my dining experience was great. Waitress was helpful and food was served fresh and delicious.. what more can I ask from a classic Miami Cuban restaurant

When I stumbled by La Carretta I could only think of Gabriel Iglesias aka fluffy talking about this place when in Miami and had to try on his recommendations. Really inexpensive and tasty food. Not sure how Cuban coffee stacks up to others but definitely hit the spot for this gringo. Quick service and hopping for a Saturday morning. Guava and cheese pastry was so flaky and delicious.

La Carreta in Doral is a great place to come for lunch. We ordered Shrimp Pineapple Tostones for appetizers. I ordered Grilled Mahi Mahi with Garlic Sauce. The food was delicious and plentiful. The waiters were not as attentive and left the dirty dishes from the appetizers when they brought the main course. The place is clean and nicely set up. I will definitely come back.

I was on my way to work and I was craving some breakfast so I went ahead and stopped here and it was really delicious. The wait time however is long and that is something that you have to keep in mind if you're on your way to work .just be prepared that you're gonna be there for at least 15 to 25 minutes in order to get to order your food. Once you get to the window to order your food then it comes out pretty quickly if you're getting staples like something in their bakery or coffee. now if you want to order food like bacon or like eggs, steak things like that then you're definitely gonna have to wait a lot longer and I recommend that you go inside the restaurant and not use the outside window.

First day in Miami and it poured rain, so we decided to duck into a mall to start some shopping. When hunger struck, we found this nearby, and came here for lunch. After waiting for almost 10 minutes w/o anyone else in line, the host finally sat us next to the bar area. Knowing by our appearance we are not of Latin or Cuban descent and spoke almost no Spanish, he put us at a table where our server, though very nice, spoke zero English. Needless to say, we really couldn't ask any questions about the menu. Not a well thought out move on his part. I ordered a Cuban sandwich as my first meal in Miami. It's not bad but there's nothing special about it. So places in California can make it just as good. Only difference is they went heavy with the cheese here. We also tried the Imperial rice. Good flavor but again, heavy on the mayonnaise that somewhat ruined an otherwise fragrant plate of rice. That's a dish we couldn't finish because it was heavy. Had we known or were able to communicate, we could've asked for light Mayo or even served on the side. Third order is the steak skewer. The steak was pretty much raw and full of tendons. The menu states it comes with plantains, but through miscommunication, we were brought boiled yucca potatoes, which were very bland. This order was a complete disappointment The cafe con leche however, was very good. This was a nice way to finish up an average first meal in Miami. The inside was fairly spacious and had separate dining areas with nice decor throughout. Outside, there was also a take-out window with outdoor seating for to-go orders. Overall, we left full but not thrilled about our meal here. You're better off planning ahead to find a better restaurant than this chain. See my photos.

Dry and powdery! Save your money.

The manager Sergio was extremely rude and blaming the customers, us, for terrible and small amounts of food. My waitress name was Gema and she scolded me for asking for a hot coffee. My Brother's fish brought three pieces and it looked like a Kids portion. Sergio, the manager told me I was rude and a bad customer. Don't come here, unless you want to feel like a child that made a terrible mistake and is in trouble.

Both were absolutely delicious. The pastry filling was light and not overly sweet, which I really loved. The staff were super friendly and recommended the guava and cheese pastry, and I'm so glad I took their suggestion. Since the coffee was so good, I went back to buy some coffee beans, but they only had ground coffee available, so I picked up a bag. I can't wait to make it at home. There was a line, but it moved pretty quickly. If you're at Miami International Airport, you have to stop by Versailles Coffee, it's definitely worth it.

AMBIANCE Parking: Dedicated lot and surrounding parking options, though it can get busy during peak hours. Seating: Plenty! Large dining rooms capable of accommodating individuals, families, tour groups, and everyone in between. Vibes: Welcome to Little Havana. It's a bit spaced out for you to experience Cuban culture. The restaurant itself gives you that classic, old-school charm with some history of the Cuban community. I dig the Cuban music giving it a nice cultural touch. This spot is no hidden gem. This is a common place for everyone - locals to tourists. FOOD / DRINKS Cubano (Recommend) Ofcourse you have to get a Cubano. Nothing too flashy but definitely gets the job done. Classic pressed bread with a satisfying crunch with a medley of roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard to give it a nice savory and comforting taste. Every bite had a good balance of texture and flavor. CUSTOMER SERVICE Awesome! Efficient and experienced. They know this place serves a lot of people so they know they had to come correct. TL;DR OVERALL 5 Stars. Great selections, fair prices, and a solid cultural experience. Versailles does a great job perserving and celebrating Cuban culture. For those interested for that Cuban-Miami experience, this is the place to be. TIPS * Come hungry--the portions are generous

AMAZING!!! This spot…read morehas quickly become a new favorite of mine. As someone who follows a plant-based lifestyle, it's not always easy finding Latin restaurants that don't use animal products in their beans, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they don't. And when I tell you these are the BEST restaurant beans I've ever had, I mean it. WOW. We actually discovered this place by accident two weeks ago when the restaurant we originally planned to visit was closed on a Monday. We needed something nearby, so I jumped on Yelp, saw the great reviews, and decided to give it a try. I wasn't expecting much, but I was completely impressed. Everything we've tried has been simple, fresh, and delicious. The Ensalada Turca is my favorite and an absolute must-try. The jugo de mora is incredibly refreshing, and the sopa de frijoles with rice and maduros hit the spot so much that I ordered it both visits. The staff is warm, welcoming, and attentive, always making sure you have everything you need. The restaurant itself is small and unassuming, decorated with beautiful cultural touches. The music playing in the background instantly took me back to my childhood, reminding me of the songs my mom and grandma used to play on the radio at home. Overall, this is a hidden gem that's absolutely worth seeking out. We've already been back twice, and we'll definitely be returning again.

I ordered the Sancocho de Costilla and it was packed with tender beef rib, yuca, potato, carrot, plantain, and corn in a rich, flavorful broth. The portion was generous and tasted homemade perfect for a hearty meal. I paired it with a fresh beets salad and crispy tostones on the side. The tostones were perfectly fried (golden and crunchy), and the avocado + lime on the plate added a nice fresh touch. Everything came out hot and well-seasoned. Nothing fancy about the setting, but the food delivers that authentic Colombian taste. Service was friendly and quick. Great value for the portion sizes. Will be back to try more items next time

Rating: 5.0 Been a…read morehuge fan of the Iron Chef show since I was a kid and my favorite has aways been the Japanese Chef Masaharu Morimoto! And since experiencing his Disney Springs restaurant Morimoto Asia, I had been looking forward for him to come to Miami. This was a couple of years back during the cooler season in Miami. RESTAURANT: I just know that this location is going to be beautiful. Chef Morimoto restaurants are worldwide and so I was not disappointed to see how beautiful this restaurant was and how perfectly complemented the vibe of the Wynwood scene. The restaurant doors open to the street, which was perfect during our winter visit. Inside is an open floor plan with a variety of seating options from the izakaya style table, banquet dining against the wall, to the huge bar. There are even covered seating outside that reminded me of New York. Decor is both minimal but with burst of colors with his signature wall art and backlit panels against the wall. And ofcourse, it won't be an authentic Japanese restaurant without the a display of hyper-realistic food models which can be found as soon as you enter the restaurant to entice your taste buds. Everything just looked sleaked and clean and love the pop of green from the huge fig trees. SERVICE: Service was amazing. From the moment we entered, we were greeted and seated right away for our reservation. Our server answered all of our questions and suggested some fruity cocktails. And lo and behold, owner Chef Morimoto himself presented us with our food and torched it right infront of us! He was so polite and humble and wonderful. We watched him moved from one side of the restaurant to the other with the endurance of a guy in his 20s and he's like 60 something! He did not stop. It was such a treat to have him in our table and how he indulged us when we chanted "Iron Chef! Iron Chef!". It was an amazing experience. FOOD: The menu have the right amount of options, from finger food to ramen, sushi and not to mention the drinks. For starters, pork belly and soft shell crab bao and bbq ribs. Deliciousness! The buns warm and pillowy. The pork, so tender. But that soft shell crab...that made me want to slap someone it was so good. Flavorful, no fishiness whatsoever, crunch on the outside and just happiness on the inside. I will eat a million of these. Then my friend ordered some Yakitori fresh from the grill: chicken, pork belly, shrimp, wagyu. They were simple, fresh and so fingerlicking good. Then the ramen; tonkotsu and gyukotsu. On this cold evening, it was exactly what we needed. These two huge bowls we passed around our table of six. The broth were divine! The pork belly was so delicate that it melts in your mouth. The beef falling off the bones were so tender and delicious. Sushi rolls: spider roll and the surf and turf. The spider roll with that soft shell crab was bomb. But the that A5 wagyu surf and turf was the star of the show. It comes out as raw slices on a roll and Chef Morimoto came out and torched it himself next to our table! I don't know if it tasted spectacular because it's wagyu or because the chef himself had torched it but this was my favorite! Overall, this was the most memorable dining experience I've had in a long time. I am sure that fangirling over the Iron Chef was the main reason but it seems that everything just fell into place for us that evening. Parking was literally next door in the garage, super easy no drama. Service was next level, maybe because the boss was there but we were not going to complain. And the food, impeccable! Pricepoint is just reasonable considering the quality, quantity and the location. It is definitely worth the trip coming here and I can't wait to visit again soon to see if everything will be the same without the Chef Morimoto around. I have a feeling it will be just as wonderful.
