I've been to La Carreta restaurants my share of times, including this one. Being next to the mall it's kind of hard not to stop by every now and then, even though there are a lot of other choices not too far. If compared to other Carreta locations, this one should change their carpet flooring inside as it doesn't have a nice appearance and pretty much makes the place feel a bit dirty. I do like that they have outside seating. Food is pretty standard in all locations but I wasn't impressed with the fish chunks here, they were only good with tartar sauce and lacked otherwise. I walked up to one of two windows And waited in I line. There was only 1 person in front of me. There were 4 blond haired waitress all hanging around talking congregating by the cash register. Not one asked to take my order . Suddenly, some other lady walked up to the other window next to me and stood there with no mask on, no social distance, waived at the employees they waived back. My family and I have been regular for years and ever since new management took over the restaurant is flat out terrible. What use to be a great restaurant with excellent ambiance, food, drinks and fantastic staff have now been replaced by low quality service, a new bartender that is incredibly rude and can't make a decent cocktail to save her life and awful live music performances that are amplified on speakers that are SO loud you can't carry a conversation at your table along with tacky party decorations at every corner that look like a dollar tree threw up all over the place. The environment is so bad that all of our favorite servers and bartenders have since left or have seen themselves forced to resign after having their hours cut so dramatically they can no longer make ends meet in an effort to have them replaced by far less competent people. I can't imagine management is unaware of these issues considering the restaurant is never as busy as it once was and the bar is always dead now. Really sad to see this place crumble considering how much my family and I had always enjoyed meeting up for a family dinner there on weekends. read more

The worst experience ever! We arrived 1 hour before they closed and our order was simple. We ordered a palomia steak and cheeseburger, they took more than 30 mins to bring us our food and then the steak was not bistec de palomia it looked like they got frita and smashed jt to make it look like a steak, and it was sooo small! Normally these steaks are large. Plus asked for medium well and it was overcooked. my son's burger bread was hard and the fries were stale old! The food was disgusting! read more

Came by with Hoves and Dusty for a quick "light lunch". Hovi had the Cuban Sandwich, Dusty had the Roast Pork Sandwich and I had the Fried Chicken and a salad! The food was very good as always! I always laugh when people refer to this chain as "authentic" Cuban cuisine because it is the furthest from the truth. My mom used to bring my siblings and myself here for Sunday brunch and even that has changed. I've come here recently because we have a lot of office gatherings here. As a business traveler, La Caretta was recommended and I was very pleased to eat here 2x for lunch. It was very busy both times, but I was seated upon walk in. While here I enjoyed the large Cuban sandwich with plantains. Then the second lunch I enjoyed the shredded pork with the mora rice. Sorry, not sure of proper Cuban names or spelling. Both times my food was served hot and delicious, and I eagerly enjoyed my lunch both days. The service was friendly and very adequate. I just wish I had more time to try more things. Maybe next time. I'd recommend this restaurant to all and try something new. read more

Everything about this visit was GREAT. After a day of furniture shopping, this w as walking distance and we decided to go for a drink. Initially, went to the bar but decided on a table... the manager noticed and went out of his way to clean a nearby table and set us up. We ordered drinks and a light snack. My sister ordered a Cuban sandwich to share and he had it cut in small pieces and pu t toothpicks on it for us! The bartender was also nice and offered drink suggestions. While, La Carreta, may not be a first choice for drinks.... this one has a nice bar and friendly service. Pork chunks and "fufu de platano" are delicious! read more

Compared to other restaurants we have been to the one here has had the best service so far. Especially, two waiters named Cesar M and Jorge Rodriquez. Excellent attention to detail and quick service, especially during the rush hour lunch break from work. As a forever S. Floridian who now lives in N. Florida- every time I come "home" for a visit I make it a point to go to La Carreta for my dose of Cuban cuisine. This location was AWFUL! Our server had 0 personality, didn't smile once, and appeared to be bothered that she had to take care of us. She took forever to come greet us and take our order. I ordered the Vaca Frita which came out looking like just cooked shredded beef. I had to send it back to have them fry it up a little more. My sister's palomilla was over cooked. I use to come here a lot more, after a while I stopped just because the food wasn't coming out to the best quality anymore. I was kinda reminded of that today. I wanted meat so I came to eat with my mom since we were at the mall. I ordered the churrasco (which before use to be about $17 now it's $23!!). Fine, when the food came out the churrasco was a bigg piece and it was pretty good so I won't complain. The only thing I'll complain about was the fries I ordered with my food that tasted like they were sitting there for a long time. They were cold and old tasting. My moms picadillo came very dry. She got a lentil soup which was warm and good at least. The service was good at least, waitress was nice. Just not all the food was to my expectation, which kinda sucked. read more
