Yelp Review 2026 #9: La Colombe is a smaller chain coffee house only found in a few big cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, etc. Honestly, we came here to stay warm before a bakery a block away opened up. They were not busy at all and I figured out why: they don't have WiFi! Which is a rarity in cafes. You mean you have to have human contact?!? It's not a bad thing. But I feel like New York is not the city with chatty and friendly locals. This concept might work in the Midwest and Canada. Their drink menu isn't complicated. They have coffee-based drinks, teas, and matcha. Their non-dairy options are almond milk and oatmilk only. They have two cup sizes: small or large. None of the tall, grande, venti, and whatever. They have croissants, hand pies, muffins, savory scones, coffee beans in boxes for purchase, etc. I didn't see anything that was more protein dense so I skipped the food part and only got a latte. The ordering system was strange right off the bat. A guy approached me at the counter for ordering and I put in an order for myself and my boyfriend and then you had to walk over to the register and repeat your order to this other guy to pay. I ended up getting the Oat Milk draft latte and my boyfriend got a regular cup of drip coffee. It was about $12.50 and I honestly didn't think twice about the price because I've never been to La Colombe. My coffee came out super fast. His friend's iced cold brew came out right after. I wait and I wait and I wait. The guy says his is coming real soon. Still waiting. Guy comes back and says my cappuccino is almost ready. And I'm like "I didn't order a cappuccino. We ordered a plain coffee." He's like oh my bad and walks away. Still, no one has put in for a plain cup of coffee and I'm still waiting. Finally a woman asks what I ordered and she just immediately pours it and hands it to me. The guy clearly could have done it but he didn't want to bother. So I sat down and ask my boyfriend's friend if I should ask for my money back because I'm now assuming I paid for a cappuccino because the math isn't adding up and I don't think drip coffee is the same price as my $6ish latte. Hesitantly I ask about it and they redeem my credit card. But they definitely weren't going to unless I spoke up and said something. The bathrooms are also kind of gross. No one had gotten around to cleaning it for hours. But I did see a cleaning crew wanting to do a sweep of it as I was leaving. So I'll give them that benefit of the doubt. I've been coming here for at least 10 years, IMO it's one the best if not my favorite third wave coffee spot in the city. Located in the heart of NOHO a short jaunt from the Astor and Bleecker stops on the 6 train. Old past time fave is to grab a cup of coffee and head to Washington Square Park a short walk away. It can get real busy in there but could always find a seat inside or outside. They have water fill up by the back with or without bubbles, which we like on hot summer days. The bathroom is fairly clean and there's rarely a line. The staff is OK but can act snooty at times as with most of these fufu coffee joints, entitled or overqualified much maybe? Anyhoo they deserve 5 stars cause of the quality coffee, atmosphere and location. Will continue to come here for years to come. read more

Ambiance is spacious and open, a rarity for a coffee shop in NYC and i recommend this place for anyone wanting to sit and read or meet up with a friend and chat, just be aware that you may not get a table! But i can't give this place 5 stars. The food is quite lackluster. The cookies are in that spot between being soft and crunchy but not in a good way. Almost rubber esque in texture. But the food isn't the main reason why i'm giving 3 stars Not having internet at a cafe is just too bit of a miss, especially one located in downtown NYC. Terrible service. How can it take so long to order, pay for and pick up a coffee! One person in front of me and I had to wait until the server had finished chit chatting. When I order it seemed the server was still distracted. I had to ask 4-5 time for the same thing. It really doesn't take much to just focus on the customer who wants to order, pay and leave. This location is always soo busy. Many NYU students come here. It's in a great area next to parts of NYU campuses, soulcycle and other work out places. I usually get draft lattes when I go to a La Colombe. Today I wanted a hot drink so I got a decaf cappuccino. I should just stick with the draft Iced lattes. Great spot for coffee in NoHo. I love La Colombe coffee and this location is big and light filled with plenty of seating. (It's a lot roomier than the original location a couple of blocks further south on Lafayette). Prices are reasonable, service is efficient and they have a decent selection of pastries available. Finally got to try the oat latte on tap and it did not disappoint! Workers are all very nice and it is easy to order I got the oat latte on tap and added vanilla syrup. It was delicious! It was smooth, hit of sweetness from the syrup and not too milky. I've frequently bought La Colombe products at the grocery store, but I've never been to any of their standalone cafes. They of course offer many of their commercially sold products, but in addition offer hot espressos, lattes, drip coffee, cold brew, and some bakery items. I got the medium roast drip coffee with almond milk, and a blueberry muffin. The coffee was warm, but not hot (even before milk was added). It does have a rich taste without any bitterness. I appreciated that the baristas provide you with the coffee on a serving dish with a spoon, and allow you to choose how much milk to put in. The top of the muffin was great- crunchy and chock full of almonds. The inside was pretty moist. The bites I had of blueberry were great, but I wish there were more. They almost all sunk to the bottom. The taste of the muffin itself was pretty bland other than the blueberry- I wish they had added some flavor. Lemon would have been a nice addition! read more

You need to work on your integrity and customer service. The shop was busy this morning (11/5/24), so I was waiting for my order (somewhat of a specialty) no longer than five-to-seven minutes. I had no issue waiting -- again, the shop was busy. However, I will not be lied to and yelled at by anyone at your shop -- specifically, telling me that I was so negligent in picking-up my drink that the employee had to throw it away because it sat for so long. What most likely happened was...the drink was never made -- no big deal. But, y'all decided to lie and deride me in front of everyone in line. This is pathetic and small of your employee. La Colombe is a NYC staple full of single origin bliss. Famous for their draft lattes, but make stellar drinks in general, and can't go wrong with a drip from here. Beautiful croissant offerings. Most of all, this location is open and inviting, with floor to ceiling windows looking out on Lafayette and the sleepy bustle of NOHO. We've only ever tried the La Colombe draft lattes via the little cans at Trader Joe's, so I was very excited to try it out "live" in one of their New York stores. The staff here were friendly and recommended that I try the draft latte from the tap - which was epic! Unlike other coffee stores (...Blue Bottle!) where the packaged drinks taste better than the freshly poured ones, the draft latte was even tastier fresh and had the same frothy/smooth consistency. It's a shame these don't exist here on the West Coast! read more

Terrible employee behavior. My friend and I came here yesterday January 29th around 10:30/11 am after a workout class as NYC was having its first over 45 degree day in a while and we wanted to walk and enjoy it. We had never been to a La Colombe in person, and decided we would go thinking they would have the strawberry on draft. When we asked, we were told they didn't have it yet, and asked for a second to look over the menu. The service here was pretty horrible. Not sure if it's because the location or we just caught them on a bad day. After a nice enough person took our order and started to make our coffees we moved towards the cashier. Firstly, she looked my friend up and down for quite some time and with a pretty disgusting look. I assumed it was because she had shorts on (because of our workout class) but either way it was very uncomfortable. She then proceeded to ask what I ordered and when I paid and forgot to select my tip, she waved her hands over the screen instead of asking me to finish with the screen. I was confused, and she walked away so I didn't know what that hand motion was. She came back 15 seconds later and made the same motion over the screen to which I finally understood and apologized for my forgetfulness and misunderstanding and she just scoffed at me. My friend then said her order and when the cashier asked what milk she got, my friend responded. I guess the cashier didn't hear but she rudely said again in an annoyed tone "I said what milk" I answered for my friend trying to hurry the situation along and she scoffed again. After we both had paid she scooted us along with hand movements and then said in a very sarcastic and degrading tone to have a good day. And she obviously meant to be rude. We both loved our coffee, but were made to feel so uncomfortable that we wanted to leave immediately. I had intended to use the restroom there, and was so uncomfortable staying there that I just left and went to the grocery store down the block. I can't believe in a world where people are so "accepting," employees in the hospitality and customer service industry act this way unprovoked. If I could give 5 stars for the coffee and 0 for service I would. Won't be coming back to this location again. read more

I truly don't know where to begin. Let me start by telling you this is the best tasting coffee/espresso ever. Like EVER! I pride myself in being a coffee snob. With that, I try coffee/espresso type drinks everywhere I go. In my opinion, La Colombe has the best, non bitter tasting drinks. My go to drink is almost always an iced latte. La Colombe offers multiple alternative milk options so I always order half reg milk and half oat milk. Try it, I promise you, you will love it! They have awesome tasting simple syrup too. I think it's made from raw sugar??? Whatever it's made with, it is SO good! They have great pastry options as well as some Chobani yogurt (one of the owners happens to be an owner of Chobani). All the baked goods are the same at each location. How cool is that? Consistency is key!! Each La Colombe we visit tastes the same!! Like the drinks always taste the same! Novel idea, I know! This location pumps the drinks out. Don't let the daunting line scare you. Even if it wraps around the bar, they clear it fast. They have an amazing team working there. Always friendly. Walked into the store for a nice cup of iced coffee. Out of all the la colombe coffee shops, this has to be one of the biggest location. It's spacious, there is seating, but it was always full with people. The inside is very modern and seems very hip/trendy. Very cool ambience. In terms of the coffee itself, la columbe is popular for a reason. I personally got to try the black & tan. Very smooth and you honestly don't need too much sugar added. It taste good on it's own. Anything named French grabs my attention and I dared check out Lafayette's location to see if the brand live up to the name brand allure. It seems at the moment I said I was taking the coffee to go (let's not talk out indoor dining city mandates...) and there was an evident disappointment on the clerk, although I explained to her what I wanted she order something else... the barista just tossed cold straight out of the fridge almond milk on the dispenser-coffee like she couldn't care less, is people really accustomed to this here or everywhere else? #APPALLING GOOD Hmmm... the typically good looking patrons sitting outside? BAD The communication between server and client, how could I convey I want an almond milk cappuccino with strong coffee, have a barista pouring the cheap looking coffee dispensers and just toss cold almond milk and when I questioned her and to please heat it up she said they charge extra for that. I had the money and she knew I had the money that was her way to give me the middle finger she couldn't be bothered. WORST Have ever had some retail chain or street coffee that it seemed it got burned and so lukewarm that you can't help to toss it in the next trash can???
