    Lucky charmatcha

The best La Colombe in DC, and yes there's a difference! The staff is always so kind, and this location always has barista specials that I can't always find elsewhere. I'm typically very picky with my drinks, and ive never had something I didn't like. Can't go wrong with anything here, but today I got a "lucky charmatcha" which is matcha with a mocha strawberry syrup and it was delicious as always!

I flew in from San Francisco so I have flight fatigue and need caffeine to jump start my brain. I had several cups of coffee this week, and this by far is the best cup of coffee I've had this week. I also bought a chocolate bar and it's delicious. It's located in an alley so it's hard to find. I actually went looking for it yesterday per recommendation from my friend. So ask someone after you follow your gps. When you do find it, you are greeted by a beautiful brick store front with big windows lots of light and the warm aroma of fresh brewed coffee. Oh and there is a dog bowl plenty of seating. And the people here offer warm water personalities.

The La Colombe on Blagden Alley is cozy and quaint with a modern urban vibe. Tucked in a pedestrian-only alley, it's an ideal place for a caffeine break for attendees at the nearby Convention Center. It has lots of pluses. First, the drip coffee here was excellent and smooth. Second, the service was friendly and prompt on a Sunday afternoon. Due to the limited space, however, you may need to "grab-n-go".

Solid matcha option! Walked here on a Sunday morning and although the shop was busy, we didn't wait in line to order and received our drinks in only a few minutes. We took our drinks to go, but it didn't look like there was a lot of open seating inside. Matcha itself was solid, but nothing exceptional. I would definitely order it again!

Fast, friendly and knowledgeable service especially in the morning when I need my Java fix . I will be a regular.

Unique coffee experience! Small coffee house vibes inside. Wasn't sure what to order so the baristas offered some tastings of the lattes on tap! It was incredible and helpful in guiding our order. Ended up with a plain latte and a London fog. That latte was standard but fun to try the fresh version of what they can. The early grey took me back to my favorite college coffee shop. It was pure nostalgia for me and loved every sip. Husband wished it was a warmer day because he would have gotten one of the coffees on tap.

Great place to get a cup of coffee and a pastry. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They have non-coffee drinks as well and their seasonal coffee offerings change regularly. It is also kind of in a hidden alley which adds to the appeal!

Big fan of La Colombe and try to visit shops whenever I travel and a city happens to have one or more. I tried this La Colombe as I was walking around the Blagden Alley area. It's a quaint spot with lots of street art. This La Colombe was lovely! Great decor inside and out, ample seating, and nice staff. I had a draft latte and really enjoyed it. Super fresh and great balance of flavor. A nice variety of options for hot + cold drinks and some pastries.

I love this coffee shop! Friendly baristas, tasty espresso, and overall good vibes. Only negative is that it's packed on weekend mornings, but if you find yourself here on a weekday or after the morning rush, it was not disappoint! I usually get a hot or iced latte, but they currently have a strawberry latte special that I just had to share with fellow yelpers - subtle taste and not too sweet which to me makes for the perfect balance of flavor in my coffee!

    Beautiful and aesthetic exterior

Wow! I love the exterior of the La Colombe! It's tucked away in an alley and is super aesthetic. My friend and I came here after brunch and got the draft latte. It's super creamy and delicious, perfect for non-sweet tooth people as it is not super sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed my drink and bought a box of beans. The baristas were nice and polite. The indoors isn't super spacious but that's because they are socially distancing tables which is a plus. I feel like a lot of establishments don't really do that nowadays so I'm glad this La Colombe location did so. Definitely one of my favorite coffee chains and wish they had a location in NoVa!

Before getting to the food, I'll first rate the interior excellent. It's big and open, and has a modern yet rustic design, which makes it an excellent atmosphere. They had an impressive list of wines and cocktails, but the draft beer selection was limited. Could use a bit more variety on tap, but I enjoyed the Imperial IPA nonetheless. As for the food; all of it was on the pricey sized given the quality and quantity served, but the salmon collar was by far my favorite -- followed by the chicken, although the chicken was a bit less meaty than I expected. The gem salad, the carrots and the steak fries were all very "meh," and the bisques seemed like small ciabatta buns rather than actual biscuits. All that aside, the biggest disappointment was unfortunately the ax ribeye - it wasn't cooked properly (despite asking for med-rate, depending on the bite, it ranged from medium to very rare), and it was really stringy and fatty - a major disappointment for a steakhouse. Deserts were delicious, I really enjoyed the ice cream cake and thought the peanut butter pie was good. Service was great, prompt and friendly. So I definitely wouldn't recommend this place as a statehouse based on my experience, but would consider coming for the salmon.

Ted's Bulletin Noma is a short walk from the hotel I rested my sad little head at, so two minutes after walking in, we were seated in the dark-lit environment that almost put me back to sleep. Despite the nearby ceiling vent dripping condensation on the right shoulder of the highest-paid individual in our group, we enjoyed the deviled eggs app and refreshing tap water. I ordered the chicken and biscuits, and I must say, I'd sell my soul for those dead bird sandwiches. The server was young and energetic, but the service was slower than that of Suddenlink internet. I'll be back once I finally get a raise to afford the $3 sausage gravy add-on next time.

I sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly but busy restocking as it was towards the end of the day. I had the cheery old fashion as she promised it was one of their stronger drinks. I didn't find this to be true, it was actually overly sweet and tasted more like syrup. The second drink I picked was the bourbon bash. I thought this one would be sweet as it's made with different juices but it was actually on the stronger side. Definitely stronger and better than the Cherry old-fashioned. To snack on I went with the steak and cheese, eggrolls and bacon, blue cheese brussels sprouts. The egg rolls were great. Lots of flavor and the texture was spot on. The brussels sprouts were good for the most part. They did go a little overboard with the blue cheese for my tastebuds. My second visit was for a late breakfast. I started with an Irish coffee by recommendation of the bartender. It was a great way to start the day. It was strong enough but with the right balance. My breakfast plate didn't meet my expectations. My eggs were too running, bacon was chewy, toast was stale and the hash browns were only cooked on one side. I did ask for them to be crispy. I picked at it enough to curb my hunger.

I saw one woman on a 4 seat table, taking her sweet time with just 1 drink and her laptop while so many people were waiting in line with their trays full of food. A no laptop policy on weekends is usually a good idea if they want people to sit back and relax rather than take their stuff to go. We got the Baklawa Mocha, Rose Milk Tea, Orange Blossom Croissant, Chocolate Halawa Pain Suisse and Breakfast Egg Pita. All the food was phenomenal - especially the breakfast egg pita. It was so fresh, flavorful and filling. I also loved the Chocolate Halawa Pain Suisse - if you love middle eastern desserts with a western twist, definitely get this! Both pastries were extremely flaky and fresh. The Rose milk tea was very fragrant and had a strong flavor of rose and cardamom. I did not like the Baklawa Mocha at all because it tasted very watered down. Would return for their food but will skip the drinks for sure!!

We ordered it medium rare, which our server specifically said was also the chef's recommendation, but it arrived somewhere between medium and medium well. More surprisingly, it was one of the toughest steaks I have ever eaten. At $49, that is unacceptable. The mashed potatoes were equally disappointing: bland, not buttery, and nothing like the rich French pommes purée I expected. We also ordered the carrots, but they never arrived. At least we were not charged for them. The crème brûlée was good, but a good crème brûlée could not redeem the meal. The service was attentive and polished. The restaurant was also nearly empty at 5 p.m. on a Friday, with only one other table occupied inside and a few people outside, which in hindsight may have been a warning sign. Beautiful room, decent service, deeply disappointing food. I would not return.
