Giovani put my fears to rest and proved himself by retrieving ALL the data on my wife's PC, fixed the drive which was almost dead, and put it all back together in the same day. I certainly wish my review of LA Computer Doctor could have been different, but as you'll see my experience leaves me no choice. Around 3 months ago LA Computer Doctor replaced my laptop hard drive; I paid extra for a 500 gb hard drive which included a 6 month warranty. About a week ago, I brought my computer in again as it was suddenly working very slowly, taking 30 minutes to boot up. I also asked some of the screws be replaced as the computer casing was coming apart. I went to pick up my computer the next day after the hard drive had been replaced and noticed that one of the touchpad buttons, which had worked perfectly when I brought it in, was no longer functioning. The employee insisted that "you don't need it to work" because I could use the tap-to-click function instead. I said this was not an acceptable solution and insisted it be fixed; he said I would have to come back the next day and promised me he would explain the issue to the repair tech. The following afternoon, I called in, specifically explained what the issue was the previous day, and was promised that my laptop was fixed and ready for pickup. I went to the store, tested the computer, and saw that the touchpad had most definitely not been repaired. The employee (a different one this time) also tried to tell me that I didn't need the touchpad buttons to work in order to utilize the computer. The manager, Geovany, was present and said that (though the store was not scheduled to close for 2 hours) that I could either leave the computer and pick it up in two days (as the next day was a holiday) or take it with me and bring it back later. Both options were disappointing as I had left the computer an extra day due to this issue, and I made a special trip to the store because I was told that the problem was fixed. Frustrated by their apparent lack of desire to help and unwilling to wait longer, I took my computer home and fixed the problem in about 10 seconds by loosening one of the screws on the base of the laptop. I'm not sure why they couldn't have taken the time to at least attempt this. That night, I spent several hours reloading my data and reinstalling programs onto my computer, only to see a message that my hard drive space was full. I was confused as 500gb had always been plenty of space; you can imagine my surprise when I saw that my 500gb hard drive had been replaced with a 160gb hard drive - less than a third of the volume of the hard drive I had originally paid for. Confused and frustrated, I went back to the store the next day and spoke with Geovany. He admitted that this was not simply a mistake on their part and that they did this because "my employee said you told her that you don't use data." Not only did I never tell anyone that I "don't use data", the computer had around 250gb of data on it when I brought it in for repair. He claims that they put in a smaller capacity hard drive because "if we put in one with 500 gigabytes it would run very slow," despite the fact that my computer had been running perfectly well on a 500gb hard drive until a week before. If they were going to downgrade my hard drive, I expected the company to ask my permission and also to offer me a partial refund; neither of these happened. Geovany stated that I should be grateful to them because they replaced my hard drive "for free" and "spent a lot of time doing free work on your computer" - not true at all, as the price I originally paid included a 6 month warranty. He then said "you had the computer for a long time - I don't know what you did with it," apparently attempting to blame me for the failure of the hard drive. Extremely frustrated by this disrespect and dishonesty, I insisted on a refund, pointing out that in response to a 1/23/16 Yelp review by Jake W., Geovany stated that "our policy its to return your money if you are not satisfied." Geovany insisted that to get a full refund, he would have to take out the hard drive - despite the fact that I had already spent several hours loading data on my hard drive and explained that I wanted to use the refund to take it to another repair shop to get it right. He only agreed to a partial refund, despite the store policy and the circumstances. As I'm sure you can understand, I'm very disappointed by the dishonest and disrespectful way that I was treated by this business, and I am now having to pursue complaints with county and state agencies and the Better Business Bureau. Neither I nor anyone I know will be patronizing this business, and I encourage you to do the same. read more

Took my desktop in to have a fan replaced. They replaced the fan, and it worked fine, but was just a little too loud. They took it back and fixed the problem without any question. It's easy to be nice when a transaction goes smoothly, it's when something goes wrong that really puts an establishments professionalism to the test. This place gets high marks for customer service. The service was fast and friendly. Everyone there is very knowledgeable and their pricing is very fair. My computer works great now! Advised me that the battery was toast, and if I didn't want to purchase a new battery, I could just use it plugged in, without battery. Yay! So relieved. I'm a tech idiot, so had to trust them. I called them asking if they can fix baby monitor (it stopped working after falling on the floor), they told me that they normally don't deal with baby monitors but suggested me to come by so they can take a look. Went in to get a quote to fix my computer so I can give it to my insurance company. I dropped water onto it and it was just a white screen. Giovanni says because the computer turned on it can be fixed - a relief, all my pictures and work are on this computer. Don't waste your time coming here. They have no experience with iPhones. Brought my iphone to get fixed. Israel said he would call me in 2 hours to give me a status... after 3 hours nothing. Went to the store and realized the young inexperienced kid (Israel) had opened my phone to do god knows what.. check the battery??? Without my permission or a call to let me know what the next steps were. I picked up my STILL broken/unfixed iphone From this place and took it somewhere else. The Owner at the other legit business said someone had opened my phoned messed with the battery and microphone and it appeared it had water inside!!! Do not trust this place with iPhones! Terrific service. Giovanni is knowing, diligent, and helpful. I accidentally spilled water on my laptop and he was able to replace my logic board in a timely matter, as well as other issues I'd been wanting to resolve, all for a reasonable price. Brought my iPhone in after cracking both the screen and camera lens. I was relieved to learn that both could be fixed in under an hour for only $95, which seemed very reasonable. Deducting one star as I waited outside the business for more than 30 minutes past the posted opening time (also called, with no answer), which was somewhat annoying. This place is amazing, very simple shop run by a guy who knows what he's doing. He is extremely knowledgeable and has been able to help with all our needs. After a few minutes talking to him, I knew my computer needs were in good hands. I was immediately impressed by his technical ability. Laptops are very important items very few people will trust others with but this guy fixed my laptops. Very professional and attentive to minor details and does a thorough job. My laptop was running extremely slow and I needed it to be looked at. This place was super close to where I live and the reviews on Yelp were all great. It was very easy to find in the shopping center and the lady that helped me was very nice and quick to find a solution. She gave me the price and told me that it should be done in a couple hours. She called me the same day letting me know that there was more than expected of my documents that needed to be saved and they would be able to have it ready the next day. When I picked it up the guy working there went over all the repairs and my laptop was running great. He was very nice and super helpful. This place is the best! My 3 year old Macbook Air crashed in the middle of a really hectic workweek and I was at risk of loosing all my previous documents on the computer. Since the Mac store does not offer to try and salvage your info off a crashed computer I found this place instead. Within two days Giovanni salvaged all my previous info and rebooted my OS X and also even improved a couple things. He is honest, kind, smart, and quick! He also charges vary reasonable prices. I cracked my phone in February, it still worked so I didn't bother to fix it, but then in June I dropped it again, and it just stopped working, it looked like ink spilled inside of the phone. I looked around, found this place, the guy quoted me $75 to fix the screen which I found reasonable. Turns out my phone needed more than just a new screen, but the guy stuck to his quote and just charged me the $75. While he worked on my phone he even gave me a loaner phone.
