We were here to celebrate a friend and the team was so kind as to gift my friend a congratulations card from the team. The service is absolutely above and beyond. The whole team is coordinated in making sure you receive michellin-level hospitality. Okay now onto the food. What's the best part of going to a restaurant with 9 of your closest friends? You all get to try each other's plates! I was able to try every pizza and most of the pastas on the menu and can confidently say that the Carne Mista Pizza is the crown jewel of La Connessa. Next time I come I'm ordering 20 of those just for me. For pastas, the bolognese offers a larger portion but the agnolotti is the absolute best flavor wise. I love bread and butter, and this was particularly addicting. The bread was so soft and flavorful even without the butter. Highly recommend - kanpachi crudo: 10/10 so good! wish the serving was larger as it was only a few pieces, but the flavor and freshness of the fish was on point - agnolotti: 5/10 the flavor didn't stand out to me, and the dumplings were a bit too chewy for me. My friend booked a 5:30 pm reservation for a Tuesday night and it was pretty busy for a week night. The first thing that caught my eye was definitely the ambiance of the restaurant from the lighting to aesthetic layout. The staff that attended to us were so kind, always making small talk with us about foods we liked to help us choose items from the menu as well as recommendations he had. Focaccia - We always love starting out with bread and this was fluffy but different from regular focaccia. It was a little dense but warm and perfect for the butter melting on it. Carne Mista - This pizza was the star for us. The tomato sauce was very good and it was savory from the variety of meat on top with some freshness from the arugula and texture from the mozzarella. Kabocha Squash Triangoli - The pasta dish could have been a little bit hotter in temperature and we weren't too big a fan of the nuts on top. The squash flavor was strong though which we enjoyed and very tasty paired with the brown butter. Lemon Basil Gelato - A refreshing sorbet. It didn't taste too much basil or sourness as it was more similar to a candied lemon but it was a light dessert that helped balance out our heavier meal. Apple Pie w/ Prickly Pear Sorbet - My friend opted for this one and it wasn't too sweet which we enjoyed. They let us add any sorbet or ice cream on top so we chose to try this prickly pear sorbet which was really interesting, kind of sweet and had a similar flavor to haw flakes. Overall, we had a really enjoyable time trying all the different dishes and enjoying the ambiance of the restaurant from the staff to the environment that let us talk comfortably. The last time we were there we got a great corner table, it was an unexpected yay moment. Came with some friends to try out this restaurant! Beautiful interior and I loved the ambiance so much! The service was wonderful - the servers were kind and attentive, providing us with so much information on the various dishes and allowing us plenty of time to decide what we wanted to order. They also let us know that family style is typically how people order here. We got a pizza (carne mista) and a lemon pasta. Both were so so so good! I loved every bite! We also all got spritzes - I got the Hugo Spritz and it was quite delicious with not much alcoholic taste. We also got the panna cotta to share for dessert since we were so stuffed! Second time going to La connessa was much better than the first time. I learned that items on the menu are seasonal and dishes on the menu change based on ingredients that are in season. We were recommended dishes and we tried a variety of them. Thanks for the friendly server and staff. For antipastas we got the focaccia di recco, arancini, and belfiore burrata. The belfoiore burrata was surprisingly the best of the three with a great balance of citrus and freshness of the burrata. Personally, I would not order the focaccia di recco again--it seems a little too similar to a fried tortilla. For pastas we got the agnolotti del plin and spaghettino al limone. The agnolotti del plin was flavorful and comforting. On a contrary, the spaghettino al limone presents a bright, zesty and lemon flavor. Expect to have a burst of lemon if you get this pasta. Two pastas that had a great contrast in taste. For pizza we got the Carne mista. The combination of meats, cheese and arugula came together very well and I would order this again. We came to La Conessa on a Friday night to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a great experience overall. We made a reservation for 8 adults and 2 babies, and since our party was over 8, we had to email the restaurant to book. The process was easy and smooth. Even though the restaurant was pretty busy, we were seated right away, which we really appreciated. They also had baby high chairs available. Once we ordered, the food came out quickly. We did everything family style so we could try a variety of dishes, and honestly, that was the best way to go. Everything we ordered was solid, and we also shared a bottle of wine for the table. The interior is really nice. I loved the high ceilings and the bar shelves, which give the space a more elevated and polished feel. Parking was also super convenient with plenty of street parking around the area. The menu features a short list of traditional brunch dishes with a Californian/Italian twist. For example, the lineup includes arancini, an egg panini, and oven-fired pizza. We split the arugula salad (with in-season fuyu persimmon), soft-scramble toast, and Bianca pizza. Our server was super friendly and attentive; while our food was brought out quickly, nothing felt rushed - we were allowed to linger and catch up over a nearly two-hour meal. This was more than enough food for the two of us, and we had about half a pizza and some salad leftover. If I had to choose a favorite dish, it would probably be the soft-scramble toast. The eggs had a fluffy yet silky texture, and the crispy and buttery mushrooms took it to the next level. The arugula salad was also refreshing, and I loved the seasonal touch of the persimmon. I went for dinner on a Friday night. Unlike many restaurants in SF, there was plenty of free parking in the surrounding area. I arrived at least 30 minutes early to look for parking but I found a spot within feet from the restaurant entrance. My party was seated in a different room; we had to exit a side door of the main restaurant and walk around the corner to enter another room. This room looked nothing like the main dining area and it was very cold! We had to keep asking the staff to increase the temperature in the room. My first course was an arugula salad and it was nothing special. My main course was tagliatelle bolognese. The first few bites were okay but I quickly got tired of it even though the portion was not big. For dessert I had tiramisu and it was just your average tiramisu. I may have enjoyed my dining experience if the room was not cold, but at least there was plenty of parking nearby! It was closed at the time (they have limited hours, mostly around dinnertime), so my husband and I made a mental note to come back and try it one day. That day eventually arrived(!), and a group of four of us (my husband and I, plus his boss and his wife) came one evening after making a reservation. They were busyy - even with a reservation, we had a short wait. While it would have been nice to sit along the wall or by a window, we ended up at one of the many inner tables, which meant a bit more hustle and bustle as staff and customers passed by. That said, the serving staff and sommelier were attentive and helpful, offering thoughtful suggestions for us first-timers and answering our questions. We shared everything family-style, which was the way to go, including focaccia, prosciutto di San Daniele, salad, tagliatelle bolognese, agnolotti del plin, wine, dessert, and more. Okay so last time I was here with my friend this older dude hit on us outside and asked us where we're going and where he should go next. My friend goes "um idk I'm not from here I'm from Canada." Dude goes "you're from Canada and you came all the way here to go to Potrero hill?" Busted. Anyway, I've been here 3x in the last year which is saying a lot because I find it so hard to go back to places when there are SO many new ones to try in SF. Everything here (except 1 pasta dish was alright) I've tried is amazing. High pasta quality, abundance of flavor, fun pizzas, unique dishes you can't find at any other Italian spots here. Obsessed. The menu rotates which is good and bad. I get to try new things but don't get to go back to my favorites. My favs: the corn pasta and fried polenta from summer 2024. The service is very friendly and attentive - refilling our sparkling water like wine! The food is good, though a bit inconsistent for what we ordered on this visit. Seasoning is on the salty side overall, particularly strong on the vegetables like fried Brussels sprouts - would have been great if they were more crisply fried, like potato chips! The Tuscan chicken liver mousse was very good and rich, a very generous serving that calls for more bread - make sure to take it home. The Tajarin al nero was a bit disappointing, where there wasn't a distinct shrimp flavor from the brodo, and there was just one small piece of uni placed on the top that didn't permeate its flavor to the dish. Service was the best we've had in forever the bartender was amazing she gave us a full menu walk - we heard her doing this for every guest and each time she was highlighting different things. I have only been to La Conneasa once and intend to return. The interior design is lovely! The floor tiles and chair backs, the opulent chandeliers, and the grand bar area. It all comes together to be comfortably sophisticated. I noted my wife's birthday when I made the reservation, and requested a nice seat for her special night. Both comments were taken to heart. There was a nice card on the table, desert came out with a lit candle, and the seat was perfect! For food we ordered Halibut Carpaccio, Orecchiette, and Agnolotti del Plin. Of the three I would gladly reorder the Carpaccio and Agnolotti; both were delicious! The people sitting at the table next to us were a hoot! There were two late aged couples out for a nice dinner and they were having a ball. One of the guys was jovial and insisted we try his Focaccia di recco, which was delicious by the way. They made a comment that struck a chord, and especially as the evening progressed. They said, "Could be just us but they seem to be in a hurry to get us out of here." Then made a couple more comments about having a good time but feeling "like we're being pushed out." We had the same server and could relate to their comments completely. No charm, no "touch," no warmth. Very inconsistent with the mood of the restaurant, the delicious food, and even the hostess who was friendly and helpful. This is our neighborhood and the relatively new Italian place we have been looking forward to checking our since they opened on Mariposa Street across from Jackson Playground, next to Live Oak School and directly across the street from the Anchor Steamer Brewery. We normally would have walked to the restaurant but given it was my birthday and VERY cold for San Francisco peeps we drove. Parking is NOT a problem and we found a space close to the front door on Mariposa. Yay! We had scoped the setting a week before while have a quick casual lunch at Original Joe's next door. We were told the owners and the same restaurant group that brought Spruce to the city and own the donut shop adjacent as well. Given this was my birthday we made reservations for 7 pm on mid January Sunday evening. La Connessa host prompt and pleasantly welcomed us to the crowded restaurant. Despite our reservations we were informed they did not have a table available and asked if we wanted to start the evening at the bar while we waited for our table. . We accepted their offer and ordered our cocktails and wine from the nice bartender. We took in the beautiful and stunning bar area with high ceilings of wine bottles stacked to the roof (see photos). Our beverages arrived promptly and we chatted while waiting. After about 15 minutes our host share our table was now available and we proceeded to be seated in the middle of the restaurant where we could see all the surroundings and take in the sounds of a very busy Winter evening. Our waiter was very attentive and we order an appetizer and entrees. They were exceptional. Perfect in every way. We were very impressed by the entire birthday experience and appreciated overall wonderful first visit. It reminded me of some great places in Chicago (where we're from originally). The service was also good. Our server knew her stuff, had good recommendations and was a great guide for our meal. But this is a restaurant and the food is where they fell short. It was just good, but for the price of great. The focaccia di Recco was good but then little gems was a let down. The leaves were way too large so they just got went with the dressing and kind of ruined each bite. The crust on the pizza was done right but the sauce and toppings were somewhat bland so again, not a great bite. I think if its just drinks, this place is awesome! The wait staff here is incredible, attentive, and can provide recommendations to delicious dishes. My table ordered SO MANY appetizers I struggle to remember them all but here are some that stood out: Chicken Liver: I am not an adventurous eater but this was extremely tasteful, smooth and silky, I couldn't resist eating most of it. Focaccia: they call it focaccia but it's not your traditional style. Rather than being a fluffy bread, it's more of a flat cracker-like dish (just make sure to read the description!) Entree: Lemon spaghetti: everyone loved this. It is extremely refreshing, light but not too light, and had this amazing flavor that we could not put our finger on what it was! I highly recommend either ordering this for yourself or for the table, nobody would be disappointed with this Tagliatelle bolognese: it's a like a warm hug (as described by our wait staff) and it was correct! Soothing, comforting, with very QQ (or bouncy) noodles, this is a great dish for the colder weather we seem to have been getting. Dessert: Pistachio gelato: while I didn't have any, this one dish seemed to be a bit controversial on our table while some loved it and some others did not. Oh man. I really want to like La Connessa but sadly it's super disappointing! After having the best mushrooms risotto at Perbacco a few months ago, I had craving for it tonight. So I ordered the risotto at La Connessa. It's too salty that I had to send back to the kitchen and got replaced with the house special bolognese. It's wild beyond my imagination that the chef send out a COLD plate of tagliatelle bolognese! I'm sure it's good but by this time, I am unhappy with the poor quality of food service. The tiramisu and cappuccino were delicious! One Yelp star is for the beautiful restaurant and the second Yelp star is for the tiramisu and coffee. I probably won't return as Flour n Water, Delfina, Bottega, La Traviata, Berretta are nearby. read more

didn't realize they were under the same family as spruce, but with a more italian inspired cuisine. we got the: - picaroon ($16) - arancini ($16) - agnolotti dal plin ($32) - funghi pizza ($30) - flank steak tagliata ($56) - strawberry crostata ($15) - buttermilk panna cotta ($15) the steak was more medium than medium rare (we ordered the latter), but it was still tender. the agnolotti filling was a nice chicken pork veal blend! the pizza was simple but delicious with the mushrooms and white sauce, and the bread was nice and chewy. the picaroon cocktail was pretty strong but fruity and refreshing. read more
