Chicken with pipian rojo, rice and vegetables

First time here. Lots of mole options. Great service fast and friendly. The tortilla chips come with four different kinds of mole so you can taste them. Definitely will be back to try the other flavors.

Haven't been here in a while and wanted some homemade Mexican food. The green chili enchiladas were spicy, a little too spicy for me. I shared the chicken with our granddaughter and we loved it! Customer service was outstanding! Located in the small shopping center. Sorry, this time we started eating and then I remembered to take pictures.

I actually went to this restaurant by mistake. I had searched for a good Mexican restaurant near my relative's home in Alhambra and had a list of about 4 different places. I must have entered the wrong address into Google maps and wound up at La Diosa. My wife was driving so by the time I noticed the discrepancy in distance from my original choice, it wasn't worth changing course. It all worked out. LD is a cool restaurant located in a tiny shopping center with a smallish parking lot. It's got sort of a dia de los muertos theme which I dug. My wife is a big mole fan so it was a good place for her. My relatives ordered the enchiladas with green mole and the chile relleno with a chocolate based mole with just a hint of spice. My wife also ordered the chile relleno while I decided to have the chicken flautas. My flautas were nice and crispy and HUGE. The chicken was a bit dry but still tasty. I thought my meal was a 5 but the others in my party weren't quite as excited, Good but not raving about theirs. What we did agree on was the plantains in tequila sauce. The sauce is a thick, creamy sauce with just enough sweetness to pair amazingly with the fruit. Hands down 5 star. The service was top notch. A thorough explanation of their mole options and chips offered with samples of these choices. Our waiter kindly answered any questions we may have had since we were first time patrons to this establishment. The waitstaff was excellent about checking on us to ensure everything was copacetic. Undeniable 5 stars for service. I wavered in deciding on my rating because the rest of my group wasn't as hyped about the food as I was but dagnabbit, this is my review so I'm sticking with my 5 stars. I hope you try for yourself and see who you agree with. Now about the original place I intended to go to...where was...hmmm? Another excuse to make another trek to visit my fam or was this my devious plan all along???

Popped in for lunch on a Saturday a few weeks back with my husband and son. The interior is cute, full Día de los Muertos, with sugar skulls and Catrinas. Maybe intentional since it's right in front of a cemetery? Service was pretty minimal. Servers came by to take orders, point out the moles with the chips, and drop off food, but that was about it. Not rude, just not attentive. Food was mixed. I went for the cochinita pibil... disappointing. The meat was super dry and hard to even swallow. Husband loved his enmoladas and my son almost finished his carne en su jugo. Chips and moles were solid to start though. It's a solid spot with great decor and potential (especially for mole fans), but I'd skip the cochinita next time and try something else. Worth another visit to explore the menu more.

Hmmm I would maybe give them a 2.5 stars. The food was average mexian food, they did have A GREAT VARIETY OF MOLE which was very tasty,I wasn't impressed with the price or the service. One thing that totally GETS ME MAD ! IS WHEN MEXIcan RESTAURANTS CHARGE FOR EXTRA SALSA ! ! THAT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.... Every Mexican wants more than one little container of salsa. To charge extra is SIN ! So they got me mad when they tried to charge. Well the food was whatever, so I won't be going back. The place was decorated very nicely... so if you like mole I would try it out....

Came here in Día de los Muertes since it's across the street from the cemetery. Hear about this place through LA Taco and decided to give it a try. I had the chilaquiles verdes and my sister had the chorizo mollete. The food was delicious, good portions, flavorful and vibrant. Even though the food was good, the real star for me was the hot chocolate. Service was a little slow at the beginning but the food came out in a timely manner. The server was friendly and checked in on us often. I like the vibe in there, it's like a Mexican Fonda.

I have been meaning to try this place and I'm so glad I finally did! The food was absolutely delicious. We had the enfrijoladas (pictured) and the enmoladas (with three types of mole, didn't take a picture because too excited to eat) and both were wonderful. All of the food tasted fresh and the portions were big! It's also comfortable inside and the service was so nice. My only suggestion is to heat up the plates before serving, but not a big deal. I will definitely be back!!!

These had more mole but sadly we started eating before I took the picture. All were great and different!

This restaurant is so pretty inside with a private parking lot. The servers were polite and very helpful. They start with a basket of chips with the different moles. Which is great because you get a preview of the different tastes. The service was quick and there were so many options that looked delicious. We went with green chilaquiles and mole enchiladas. Ambiance was great! Very family friendly.

Friday dinner we chose to visit La Diosa De Los Moles in Monterey Park. This is the second time we eat here. When we sat down, the waiter gave us chips with 3 or 4 kinds of Moles on the chips. They are all good. Some are sweet and some are little bit spicy. I wanted to try their Moles so I ordered Mahi Mahi, Oaxaqueno Mole Plate. It came with Mahi Mahi on top of the rice with the Moles sauce on it like gravy but thicker than gravy and sweet. I love it. They gave me warm tortilla too. Mahi Mahi cooked perfectly. I love my plate. But it's a big plate so I shared it with my daughter. She loved it as well. I also craved for corn. So I also ordered the Esquite. Taste good. My son-in-law ordered a dish called Enmoladas (Poblano, Mancha Pollo). I liked his Moles choice too. The restaurant has interesting decoration. The waiters are very nice and friendly.

Mole poblano , pipian mole, suple delicious tortillas

I'd like to start by saying I don't care for chicken breast but if I'm eating mole I'm having chicken breast. The breast was very good a long with the julienne veggies and the rice is exceptional!!! The freshly made tortillas are very suple and delicious. Your started off with a mole chip sampler and next time for sure I'll try one of the other mole sauces since they are all delicious!!! They offer aguas frescas so I tried the Jamaica the was lightly sweetened with very good flavor. The establishment is very clean and the staff really nice. If your looking for different food try this spot

Can't remember name but it was the sweeter mole

Came with my aunts and wife to have dinner. The restaurant is in a small corner and we missed it and accidentally went one drive way too far, about 10 parking spots. The restaurant was bright and colorful. The staff were friendly and the ladies that checked on us were nice. We ordered guacamole which my wife enjoyed, and we each ate something different. We all enjoyed what we ordered and topped the night off with a cafe de olla and desserts churros were alright more on the chewy tough side and the flan was what you'd expect from a flan. We'd definitely be back

This is a hidden gem in Montebello!! The food is simply amazing, the moles are very fresh, and not too spicy or too sweet. The service is 10/10, top notch, will be coming back to try more items on the menu!

Salmon with mole oaxaqueno, rice, and veggies
    E S.

We went for lunch on a weekday. There is a small parking lot and street parking available. The decor is awesome. It is vibrant. The music was playing, but not too loud. It was just right to be able to enjoy, but still hear your table during conversation. The food was delicious. We liked that there were vegetation, pescatarian , and a variety of other protein options. I had the salmon with mole oaxaqueno. The salmon was cooked perfectly. It was so tasty. The veggies were perfect too. I can't wait to try to other types of mole they make.

My family and I walked in after lunch time, before dinner time, and were seated. You can call them to reserve for bigger parties. Inside tip, you can request 2 types of moles on your enchiladas. I love being able to try out the varieties.

The Jamaica was refreshing and not too too sweet. Nothing was overly salty, and it was all reasonably priced. What's a hidden gem. Don't be put off by the exterior of the place...its good here. I'll be back to try everything... especially the chile relleno. I love it when I can support a mom and pop place. Especially when it's so yumm!! This time, it was a little after rush hour and I had 25 minutes to kill before an event down the block. I also had a mean hunger. It was hot, the event was a performance in a space without AC, and the idea of being hungry and hot was sort of daunting. So Chonitos it was. I asked the host if the kitchen moves quickly, because I needed to be somwhere. He said 'no problem' and seated me. Now I need to acknowledge that my request could be interpreted as annoying. I mean, me being short on time is not the restaurant's issue. But Chonitos was open to the task at hand. The space has a dark sports bar vibe. Plenty of folks enjoying their Thursday evening, drinking, eating and watching the screens. My server was Saul. He had a drink in my hand in less than three minutes and took my order the moment I was ready. Saul was very cool about getting me fed quickly. The food came out in less than 8 minutes, a taco enchilada combo. Just what I needed, homemade for sure, and both satisfying and comforting. A little corn cake rounded out the experience. I wolfed it down, thanked Saul for being supportive, then paid the check, and arrived early at my next stop. Chonitos is dope. Recommended. We were going to be there a bit before 11:00AM originally on Sunday since their website said 11:00AM, but Yelp said 10:00AM was when they opened. So my husband called on Sunday to check and they did indeed opened at 10:00AM. When we got there, there were already three sets of groups seated and they had to rearrange some tables for us since our party was nine people, which only took a couple of minutes to arrange. We were served complimentary chips and salsa as well as water as we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. I had quickly chosen my dish cause I'm a sucker for mole and there were only two options that had it, so I ended up getting the enchiladas de mole. The servers were great and the food was as pretty good too. I ended up taking leftovers home since I had eaten too much chips and dip before my actual food came cause the server refilled our chips on our end of the table like four times. The mole was pretty good and I wish there was more of it and didn't really enjoy that there was veggies inside the enchiladas since I think I was expecting more chicken than veggies inside. Not a big fan of beans, but they were pretty good with the melted cheese on top and the rice was good too. I definitely loved the decor they had and the designs painted on the walls because they eee so pretty and provided good photo op backgrounds.

For the prices they are asking, wife & I expected some pretty good food. We were fooled. The food was below average. We've had tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, etc. at half the price of this place, and they tasted twice as good. The chicken here was a mix of white and dark meat. Which is fine. But how is the dark meat so dry? White meat also pretty dry. And was there any seasoning on the meat? Didn't taste like it. Enchilada sauce was very minimal in amount and flavor. Taco just ok. Drinks tasted fine, but overpriced and weak. All in all, if we are going to pay these prices, we expect very good food. This food was not worth coming back for, even if the price was less. I will say one thing, their beans are good.
