Imagine wandering through Park Slope on a Friday early evening and discovering a French-Chinese restaurant. Well that's what happened to me and I'm glad it did. I've never had this kind of cuisine before and I wanted to give it a try. Immediately when I walked in, I was greeted by soft jazz music in the background and a low light calm ambiance. I went around 5:45/6 and I was the only customer there. It was nice having the place all to myself. The decor gives "soft life" and "unwind after work with a nice meal" and they both met my mood for the evening. The wait staff was extremely kind and patient and very helpful with discussing the menu. I started my meal with the Crystal Peach Oolong and the Sweet and Sour Ribs. The cocktail was sweet like I like and the alcohol was not overbearing. There was a nice balance. You can definitely taste the peach and the Oolong. Very well crafted drink. The ribs were delightful. Tender and falling off the bone. The sauce was absolutely immaculate. I was pleasantly blown away by this dish. For dinner, I ordered the lamb chops and the seafood fried rice. The lamb chops came with Chinese eggplant and the eggplant was very savory. Very soft and well seasoned. It was topped with a sauce that complimented it very well. The lamb chops were chef's kiss. Cooked to perfection and tender. It was topped with a honey mustard sauce that was divine. The meat was cooked medium well and seasoned like my mother worked in the kitchen. You can tell this food is made with love and care. The seafood fried rice was delicious as well. It was a nice side to compliment the lamb chops in addition to the eggplant. It was savory and delicious. I also tried the Jasmine French Martini and the Osmanthus Blossom cocktail. Both drinks were up my alley. My waiter suggested these as I prefer drinks on the sweeter side. Great suggestions. One thing I appreciate about this restaurant is the balance of alcohol and drink flavor. They shine equally and make the drinks smooth and not harsh. Both drinks were very fruity and refreshing. I ended the night trying a soup dumpling. My waiter recommend these black truffle pork dumplings and I have to say: he knows his stuff. If you love truffle, you will truly enjoy this dumpling. First, the broth is just dreamy. You taste nothing but flavor through the whole experience. And the pork? I'm glad you asked. It was delicious. The whole dumpling was just truly divine. I couldn't get enough. I too would recommend trying this soup dumpling after what I had the pleasure of enjoying. When I stumbled into this place, I didn't know what to expect. My first Chinese French fusion restaurant was a good one. It was so interesting how the French flair was present in many of the Chinese dishes. For example, the Peking duck bao was made of confit duck leg instead of Chinese-style roasted duck. Not all the dishes were like that though. The pork truffle soup dumplings were my favorite and it was soo juicy and mushroom-y. I don't tend to like truffle because of the gasoline-like taste, but this didn't have it. I wanted to order the lobster bisque udon but they didn't have lobster in the kitchen so they recommended seafood bisque udon instead which used a lobster bisque base but the toppings are of other types of seafood sans lobster. The soup was good but the udon didn't match the soup. My husband's Fleur cheeseburger was decent but the fries stole the show. My husband really enjoyed the fries seasoning which was made with a house blend of Shao kao (bbq) powder. Total rating: 3.75 stars The service and atmosphere here were both top-notch; the servers spoke Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, and they were both friendly and receptive. The aesthetics were on the dimmer side, but provided an elegant and welcoming atmosphere. The food was half great and half not that good. So let's start with the must-get: The tea infused duck, tai chi fried rice, and seafood crispy noodle were all amazing; the duck was perfectly medium rare and paired beautifully with the sauce where it was both tender and moist; the tai chi fried rice had such an amazing aroma with great wok breath (wok hay) which provided a nice and smoky flavor which if I were to recommend one thing, this would be it; and finally the seafood crispy noodle (not the udon) was creamy, savory, and provided a fun textured contrast between its sauciness and the crispiness of the noodle! These three are the ones our group enjoyed the most and would definitely get again! The not so great were the Steak Au Poivre, Black Truffle Beef Noodle, and the Spicy Wings, both were overcooked and tough to the bite. Some pieces of the wings were okay, but some were so hard we could barely chew it, which suggests it may have been fried for too long. The steak was the most underwhelming and most expensive; the cut of the meat was tough and chewy, and although the charred broccoli was phenomenal, the main star of the show was by far the worse American wagyu we ever had. The truffle beef noodle was heavy on the black pepper, which overpowered the truffle, which was extremely mild. We mentioned these to the server and although no remedy was offered, we still hope they would take our input to heart and continue to improve, for Le Fleur Rouge has so much potential and can easily be one of the best Chinese-French fusion restaurants in all of NYC! Their cocktails were amazing as well, especially the Oldie which our friend would not stop raving about! It was indeed very good with a smoky and fragrant aftertaste. Overall we had a pretty decent time with their amazing service and comfortable aesthetics. For big parties, they also include an automatic 22% tip on the bill, which is a bit high since most places usually adds 20%, but no big deal since they were really nice, it just kinda shocked us a bit. The portions are definitely on the smaller side and the price on the higher end, but if they can tweak everything we mentioned, I have no doubt Le Fleur Rouge can definitely become an extremely popular and successful Chinese-French fusion restaurant! We ordered the steak tartare, pork soup dumpling, tea infused duck, and lobster bisque noodle with crispy noodles. We started with the steak tartare, a delicious spin of a french classic. The raw steak was imbued with soy paste, cumin, and chili oil wonderfully accompanied by shrimp chips. The soup dumplings were thick and indulgent packed with liquid porky gold. The duck was so incredibly unctuous and succulent with the hint of tea essence. Perfectly cooked. The lobster bisque noodles were very unique and I loved the textural contrast between the crispy edges of the egg noodle and the creamy brine of the lobster bisque. I loved basically having that nice bisque to lap up after slurping up the noodles. A lovely experience. Service: Quality fine dining experience. I made a reservation for 2 on a Saturday and did not have any troubles with the process. Honestly could walk in and not have to wait long. This place deserves more hype for sure. Happened upon this Park Slope gem, when I was looking for a French place. I was immediately struck by the décor! One of the lamps I order from Amazon as a Christmas gift. All Beautifully designed and decorated The clientele is Brooklyn hip. Mostly well-dressed younger people. I'm immediately seated and I opt for a non-alcoholic cocktail. lime passion fruit It is really refreshing. The seeds in it are a bit much so I eventually sent it back to siphon them out. Immediately I get a new drink. The Peking duck bao style with hoisin sauce I love it! The wonton soup follows right behind. Wow this dish too is fantastic. My waiter Sou Sou keeps checking on me. I assure him everything is just perfect. The wontons are done to perfection. The soup itself not too salty I devour. I end the meal with a healthy dish of green tea ice cream Nice. I want to start out by saying the thing that pushes this place to 5 stars is the service. Our waiter was helpful, efficient but casual and friendly without being over the top. We also really loved the decor and vibe of the place. The food is good! Some of it very good, some of it fine and some would probably try something else. I have eaten in the restaurant before and have found the food to be very tasty and pleasing. I decided today to order takeout for lunch. It was HORRIBLE! The seafood fried rice had and I counted 4 very small pieces of shrimp. 3 or 4 more pieces of squid. That was it . It was tasteless and greasy and had nothing other than just rice in the dish. I'm always looking for a unique dining experience, and I can confidently say there's nothing like this place. The dishes and drinks were very thoughtful, and we were impressed by how accommodating the staff were. The décor fit the vibe of the food and it wasn't too loud on a Saturday night. I tried the Osmanthus Blossom drink that had egg white in it and it was a beautiful texture, quite strong, with subtle sweet notes. We split the char siu puff pastry, had a lovely crust and the flavors inside were savory and delicious. But I have never had anything like the tea infused duck. Every part of the plate had a job to do--the crispy skin, tender meat soaking in the jus (which the waiter pours on in front of you), the dab of umami chutney, the ricotta, the bok choy and berries all worked together in perfect harmony. After walking by Fleur's stunning entrance when it first opened a few weeks ago, I knew I had to try it. Park Slope (and honestly anywhere in NYC that's not Chinatown, Sunset Park, or Flushing) is seriously lacking in authentic Asian food, but I'm thrilled to say that Fleur changes everything. My highly anticipated visit far exceeded all expectations. The interior is exquisite - classy and elegant yet cozy and charming. The servers, one after another, were incredibly lovely - warm, pleasant, and gracious. And the food was not only authentic and delicious, but also clearly crafted with care. My mom and I ordered tapas-style: Malantou salad, Four Joy Gluten (aka seitan) salad, Noodles with Scallion Oil, and Shanghai wonton soup, and each dish was exceptional. If I had to nitpick, I'd say the malantou salad could have used a bit more flavor, but honestly, it was all wonderful. Our favorite was the Noodles with Scallion Oil - simple yet scrumptious One of the servers explained that their dumplings, buns, and wontons are handmade every morning, and the difference is notable in freshness, texture, and depth of flavor. All to say that I am SO glad this place opened, and finally offers Park Slope its well-deserved all-star Asian restaurant. Flavors are distinct, nothing's hiding in gloppy sauce, and you can tell that everything is made fresh from high quality ingredients. Scallion pancakes were probably the best I've ever had, thin, flaky, not greasy at all. Pan-fried pork buns and shrimp dumplings were simply delicious. Visited Fleur last night with some friends and we all agreed we would be back soon. The chicken wing appetizer was one of the best we ever had. The spices on it and the juiciness blew us away. Every dish we ordered was fresh and different. To end the night we had the beignets and even they hit the spot. This place was a chaotic mess tonight. They accepted way more reservations than they could handle, and the food and service suffered as a result. We waited a half hour for the table we reserved. Several others seemed to be left waiting in the crowded entryway too. The restaurant week menu seemed like a good deal, with several courses - soup, an appetizer, entree, a vegetable and a dessert - paired with two drinks for $60. But it took an hour for our first course, the soup, to arrive. My morel soup was decent, but my friend's pumpkin soup had a strange chicken-y flavor that wasn't appealing. My friend got her tofu skins appetizer around the same time I received my general tso chicken cutlet salad entree. My appetizer of soup dumplings didn't arrive until I was halfway through my entree. The chicken was tasty, but the soup dumplings were lukewarm. The dumplings might've been better if I'd received them sooner, but I didn't enjoy the flavor and barely ate them. My friend's steak was also cold. The flavor of the steak was so so, but the middle was undercooked. We didn't receive our vegetables until we were almost done with our entrees. We had a rotating cast of servers, and while they were all nice when we managed to catch their attention, it was never clear who was waiting on us. One server noticed I'd barely touched my dumplings, and when I explained I'd received them lukewarm, she tried to make it right and offered to have the kitchen remake them, which was very sweet. But I was already ready to move on to dessert by then. Dessert--yuzu cheesecake--seemed like it was still frozen. The restaurant itself is super cute, and the servers are trying, but they need to prioritize providing quality food and good service before overcrowding the dining room. The restaurant is making an effort to make the food a bit different and more upscale than the usual neighborhood place. It succeeded with the udon noodle and beef dish that we tried. Well-prepared, tasty and better than typical lo mein. We also tried the scallion pancakes which sadly were far too oily/greasy. Cod entree was presented very nicely and cooked perfectly; not dry or overcooked with a tasty soy-based sauce.
