By the time we finished, I was completely stuffed, but my boyfriend still found room for the homemade Oreo and mint ice cream. I was too full to try it, but judging by how quickly it vanished, I'm guessing it was just as good as everything else we ordered. The restaurant has a fun, laid-back atmosphere that feels welcoming without trying too hard, and the staff was friendly throughout our visit. Bicycle Thief is absolutely worth the drive to Grass Valley, and we'll be making it a point to come back.

For starters, I placed my order around 3pm for 5pm and got there about 5:03. There was one person ahead of me and after the cashier helped them they just walked away without even acknowledging me. I let them know I had placed an order and added a drink and salad bar. She gave me those with no mention of my pizza and how long it would be, no number or anything. I walked back up 15 minutes later asking if I needed a number and apparently she set it on the counter while I was trying to get my salad but without mentioning it. Getting a salad was a huge task and killed my back (I'm 5'9" and in my 40's). The salad bar was about 3 ft high with huge glass covering everything about 3 rows back and 3ft away and I could barely reach anything after bending way down. The lettuce was only iceberg and not very fresh and $10 for 1 trip! My pizza finally came out 25 minutes late and the person dropping it off was walking away really fast, I wanted to say thank you but all I could get out was "that's not right." as it was not made the way I ordered it. Her response was "I'll go check" as if it was possibly my fault. This was around a $45 pizza for a large. She came back 15 minutes later with a Luke warm pizza with hard crust and with what looked and tasted like microwaved pineapple added to it and said nothing, no apology no acknowledging their mistake or that my pizza was now 40 minutes late. It seemed like they just waited a long time to make it seem like they remade it, it was bad! Just an overpriced crap pizza. It also was too small to fit the large pan so I kind of got a medium at the large price. They only had one trash can that was literally overflowing. Yes, it was a Friday night, yes it was busy, but that is no excuse for bad food and poor service at a steep price. The arcade that costs 6+ credits a game (I think $5.25 for 20 credits so basically 3 games) does not make up for this! Also, with the new cheap tables and chairs it's set up to pack way too many people in there and it's uncomfortable to try to walk around. Obviously, they only care about packing them in and getting them out and not the product or customers. They're getting 2 stars because I didn't see any cock roaches and I'm in a good mood

Overall, a good slice and will be on the list for a quick bite.

After my additions it came out great. But the salad had brown pieces of lettuce. I couldn't eat most of it. Very sad. Especially since they ask for a tip which I didn't do.

One slice was enough to fill me up! Tons of leftovers! If you love really tasty pizza then this would not be my choice. If you have kids or on a budget than this would be a good fit!

I paid because I only had an hour for lunch and needed to eat. I got my mocha and sat down to wait for my sandwich. As I waited, I noticed several people who ordered after me receiving their food while I was still sitting there. About 15 minutes later, I finally received my to-go sandwich. When I opened the container, it was obvious it had been sitting there for a while. The sandwich was sweaty, and half of it was soggy. Apparently, they had forgotten to bring it to me. By that point, my mocha was already gone before I had even started eating. The BLT itself was made on regular-sized sandwich bread, and the tomatoes and bacon were good. But $34 for a basic BLT and a small iced mocha is outrageous, especially considering the wait and the condition of the sandwich when I finally received it. I will not be going back. The prices are simply far too high for what you get.

On a bed of farfalle (bowtie) pasta it comes with lamb pieces and a slightly spicy red sauce. All very delicious and I found it to be a very tasty dish. The only downside was the lamb chunks were not the usual, long and oddly sized, plus very chewy. Overall it didn't really diminish the dish. While we all were quite content and full our server brought out an incredible array of amazing looking desserts that would wow anyone. Unfortunately there just wasn't an appetite left for it. However, I will remember that for next time. I will definitely go back to try other things. This is a wonderful place for a pleasant meal.

($69 for a 8oz filet which was probably more like 6 oz ) you would expect much better. We pointed that out (which is quite unbelievable they forgot the potatoes) they eventually brought them on a separate plate ( they were just warm). The butter was still pretty much frozen in the little tin cup that they serve it in. So we pointed out the two ball steaks were like leather. Both of the women have ordered those before and they have been good, well not this time. For the kind of money you spend for these meals, it really is sad. They did remove the two steak dinners from the bill but that does not make it all good in my opinion. Normally I don't write a review after one visit but this place deserves it. First of all this is strictly a take out place. No seating but I knew that going there. I was late getting there so knew my choices may be limited. They were but was to be expected a half hour before closing. But what I found was incredible looking food. I was immediately greeted by a friendly face and told of what they had. I must say I am not a fan of meatloaf but the one in the case did look incredible. While I can be fussy about my lasagna I figured in a place like this it had to be good and looked very tasty. I bought the piece they had left figuring I would have enough for lunch tomorrow. How wrong was I there!! It was so amazing I ate the whole thing!! She told me to make sure it was nice and hot which I did. One of the most flavorful lasagna's I've ever had. I decided to buy to 2 lone desserts they had left which was a mini cannoli and a panna cotta. The cannoli in the case wouldn't do and she went and got me a fresh one. Last minute I remembered bread and bought a piece of their focaccia bread which she told me was house made. I was totally impressed with the freshness and quality of the everything I got. Looking forward to going back and trying some of their other yummy things including their fabulous looking sandwiches and yes, even the meatloaf. read more

La Gastronomia is a hidden gem in Grass Valley--cozy, charming, and full of heart. The staff was incredibly sweet and welcoming, and the atmosphere made us feel right at home. We sat outside with my boyfriend's dog, and they couldn't have been more accommodating. It was one of those effortlessly perfect afternoons. The pasta was fresh and delicious--simple in the best way, like something made with love. The wine was crisp and paired beautifully, adding to the laid-back, romantic vibe. It's the kind of place where you want to slow down, savor every bite, and just enjoy the company you're with. This place is like you woke up from a dream and you're in Italy the people are from Venice the pizza oven is from Italy the meats and cheeses are imported from Italy the owners make all the sauces and jams and desserts by hand, The pizza dough flour is from Italy and rolled by hand every night, and the crew is amazing, super friendly people, great authentic Italian food, Italian music, Italian language classes, great atmosphere and just a bad ass place in general. I highly recommend coming in and trying real authentic Italian food there's no pineapple for the pizza no ranch for the salad no white sauce just like it is in Italy. I was back into town to visit family for the holiday. The female at the smoke shop next door recommended to stop by here to grab a sandwich and cheese and meat platter as a gift. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and amazing quality of meat and cheese for the platter for my parents. Porch seating so great for Covid. I'm sorry, but it's really cold and uncomfortable right now and in the summer it's hot and humid and this place takes no measures to make their patrons comfortable. Prices are high and salad was not fresh. Slow service and food was cold and you could tell it was frozen and just reheated. Tasting watered down it had absolutely no liquor punch at all, just a watery drink without much tomato juice. I'm always amazed to look over the 100+ omelet items on the menu but decided on a Cajun Benedict instead. It comes with long sliced sausage (Andouille?) between the eggs and muffin. Overall, it wasn't that spicy so I covered it with hot sauce, Cajun country Tabasco. The poached eggs and sauce were good, but that's where it ended. The muffins were way too small for the dish and got lost in the other stuff. I didn't find the sausage to be all that flavorful either, and definitely not spicy. I got it with hash browns which weren't anything special. Very ordinary. I may have hit an off day but I left feeling very underwhelmed. Fortunately the service and ambiance overshadowed the food by a mile. Perhaps next time I need to try an omelet!
