I make it a habit to be sincere about my post because I believe that people don't knowingly prepare things to be less than great. That being said, I ordered a ceviche whose chunks of fish were cut far too big, almost inedible; the corn on the cob rather than taken off the cob and mixed into the ceviche was a touch lazy, and ultimately the dish itself needed more flavor, seasoning, and more leche de Tigre base. I also ordered Yuca a la huancaina and the eggs were disbursed as a garnish rather than a component of the dish. The only thing I enjoyed was the well mixed Pisco Sour Passion fruit drink I Had. I hope this critique can be constructive to you.

Chillin on the back patio sippin sangria and listening to great tunes.

I absolutely love the back patio dining area however the waitress seemed to forget the patrons. We managed to have pleasant bus boys help. Nice music with videos playing as we sat in comfy seats at outdoor tables w/umbrellas. Sangria was delicious and fruity and went nicely with ceviche mixto picante. My level of spice tolerance is high so it was just right. Friends had tallerinis w/steak. Steak was a little chewy for me. Back to my dish...fish was fresh with a combination of mussels, large shrimp, calamari, and whitefish. All this was topped with pickled red onion. Very filling! Prices are typical for neighborhood dining with their portions on the generous side. I will go back and try some other dishes. Currently, they are serving beer, wine, and sangria.

Very happy with lunch today. Great service and tasty food. Great service and recommendations from Jose. Will be back.

Plastic wrapper (bottom left corner in the topper ware) in one of the ceviche dishes.

The menu has some classics as well as twists on standard brunch dishes. I loved my avocado toast, which had some unusual texture that made it very memorable. I was surprised it wasn't too busy for brunch. Don't let the secret out!

I also want to preface this by saying that I think this place is a solid choice and it is not a bad place to grab a bite or a drink. I have been a couple of times now. While I would go back again, I wouldn't go out of my way to go there. The ambience is good. It's a nice space and it does have space for both larger and smaller groups. The wait staff is also very nice and I have zero issue with them. The food is good enough, although not spectacular. They are definitely going for a high end bar/brunch/dinner spot. A step up from a local pub, a little bit more of a shine/elegance to them. The vibe is actually great for a larger group. The most recent time we went, our table got steak nachos, a burger, the sweet potato and rice bowl (with shrimp added), and a steak sandwich. The steak sandwich was reportedly really good (I didn't try it) and looked nice. The nachos were fine, not great. Didn't feel like there was enough cheese, but the steak on it was actually really nice. The rice bowl was really not exciting. There was nothing elevated or nuanced about it. The shrimp was the best part and was beautifully cooked and seasoned, but that was an add on and I would have been disappointed with it if not for the addition of the shrimp (which then made the bowl over $25). We ordered the burger medium rare, and it came very well done. To be fair, when we mentioned it to the server, she took it off of the bill, which we appreciated. Overall, I would say the food is hit or miss. Most of our proteins were cooked very nicely and with good flavor, but the other parts of the meal were just fine, not great. The price point is such that I expect a little more for what I am paying. That being said, the staff is nice and the ambience is good, so for a quick and easy meal, it's worth it if you are in the area.

After several years experience at breweries like Voodoo Brewing and Kent Falls Brewing, Ross accepted a position as a head brewer at Twelve Percent Beer Project in North Haven. He only agreed to take the job if he could simultaneously launch his own brand. He named it "Marlowe" after his maternal grandfather. In October 2022, Marlowe opened as a brick & mortar brewpub in Nyack (NY). Unfortunately it closed six months later due to irreconcilable differences with the landlords. When a location formerly home to Decadent Ales became available in Mamaroneck in 2023, Brian Barclay of Barclay Brewing (another gypsy brewing operation that had worked out of Twelve Percent) jumped at the chance to create his own brewery collective and invited Ross to come on board as a partner. The partnership was dubbed the "New York Craft Coalition" and opened August 2023. In addition to their own brands' beers, Barclay and Ross collaborated on new ones. The union was short-lived, however, with Barclay Brewing moving out of the space just eight months later. Marlowe Artisanal Ales took over the whole space and had their 'Grand Re-Re-Re-Opening' in April 2024. My sons and I recently visited Marlowe Artisanal Ales for lunch. I had previously visited the space when it was still New York Craft Coalition (and even earlier when it was still Decadent Ales). After looking over the menu, my sons ordered and shared the "Basket of Fingers" (chicken fingers, fries, choice of dipping sauce), I had the "Burger Special" (Koji aged beef patty, mushrooms, onions, pepper jack cheese, apple smoked bacon, garlic aioli), and we all shared the "Eggplant Chips" (thinly sliced and fried eggplant drizzled with spicy honey). Everything was fantastic! To wash everything down, I had a draught pours of "While We Wait" (English-style Pub Ale), "Ghost Signatures: Nelson" (New England IPA), and a can pour of "Psychic Cyberwolf 3005" (Imperial Pastry Stout collaboration with Timber Ales). The latter was my favorite! I really enjoyed my visit to Marlowe Artisanal Ales and I hope to return!!

The beers were good - the bartender's recommendations were spot on. The tres leches was amazing! So much flavor and the slightly tart orange on top was key. The fries were crispy. We had unsweetened iced teas, and the kids' seltzer came in a kid-sized cup. After ordering, we were served cornbread sticks, which were really good and a hit with my son. Elwood also brought crayons and paper for him, which was a thoughtful touch. We started with the gator nuggets and frickles. The gator nuggets were our favorite appetizer. The frickles were good, but the batter was fairly thick, which made the pickle flavor a little subtle. For my entrée, I had the fried chicken with collard greens and mac and cheese. The chicken was nicely crispy and came with four pieces, though it was a little overcooked for my taste. The collard greens were on the sweet side, and the mac and cheese could have used a bit more flavor. The highlight of our visit was the service. Elwood was friendly, attentive, and struck the perfect balance of checking in without being overbearing. Overall, the food was a bit mixed for us, but the excellent service, family-friendly touches, and pleasant outdoor seating made for an enjoyable experience. We'll be back to try some of the other menu items.
