This restaurant is no longer La Golondrina. It is now an extremely overpriced mediocre Italian restaurant, Italian Shark Chef. Having fond memories of the original La Golondrina we decided to try the new restaurant. The courtyard is still beautiful and the staff are still friendly and attentive. However, the menu is extremely expensive, and the Italian food was simply mediocre. The wine was overpriced, and one glass of red was brought out chilled which seemed odd. As the most expensive meal we ate in Cabo, it was also the most disappointing. Sadly we won't be returning. read more

Long time favorite but we won't ever go back... so sad... We have come here for years when we make our annual trek to Cabo. We always come here for my birthday. First of all, the ambiance is gone. It use to be a nice large patio atmosphere with large trees filled with twinkle lights. Now they cut a large piece off to make a pizza parlor next door. We were so looking forward to lobster and carne asada which is why we always come back since it was so special. We had to send our carne asada back as soon as we looked at it. It looked like it was boiled and maybe grilled for 30 seconds. It was rubbery and had no flavor. Then the lobster...two very small tails that seemed steamed with no flavor whats so ever. We ate those as we could smother them in butter and salt. We couldnt get out of ther fast enough. My wife felt so bad for me she wanted to take me to another restaurant and I said, "no..they ruined it for me" I just want to go home. And we did. Service was unattended, the musician was horrible.....we shrinked every time he sang as he was so sharp and was living in the 40's. What happened to beautiful Mexican music? I can hear off pitch Frank Sinatra here in LA and get a better meal. Sorry for going on on and on but you know how you love place and then the owner gets cheap and screws it all up. Absolutely fantastic, starting with the staff being welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is amazing as it is a large outdoor space and the food is spectacular. We had,Calamari, Guacamole, Caesar salad and the Fish Acapulco and all were delicious. You won't be disappointed. read more

I agree with another Yelper that this is probably the best seafood imaginable. Their seafood is fresh here. You can taste it, you can feel the smooth texture in your mouth. The ambiance is another important thing to mention here. Off-white lights are strung throughout the area....around trees...brushes...hanging down. Its so romantic. It's an outdoor restaurant so when the weather is perfect, I recommend coming to eat dinner here. They don't give you menus here. You go up to their menu board...look at what you want...and the waiter will come to your table once you're ready. Sounds weird and different but it works. Trust, it's not that difficult. I ordered the Cajun seasoned sea bass. Pretty good sized piece of fish. It also comes with a small scoop of lime flavored white rice with a dash of cilantro. Just typing this up makes my mouth salivate. My boyfriend ordered the two way snapper. That's an entrée big enough to share between two people. It also comes with rice too...but it's red rice. Very delicious and flavorful. Our entrees came with the soup of the day, which is lentil soup. I heard that they sometimes have tortilla soup as their soup of the day. So that may change quiet often. My boyfriend also ordered a Mexican coffee after dinner. It's a pretty cool show...they make the drink in front of you...all while doing tricks and flairs with fire. Service was attentive. la golondrina is a restaurant we always visit every trip to cabo. unfortunately ever since covid, they've had to downsize twice and because of the hurricanes from past years the big trees within the restaurant have either been removed or trimmed significantly. the food is always very good here, i ordered the chicken wow which features their special "wow" sauce. it's certainly a sweeter and more asian sauce but it's amazing. as well as the chicken, i also started with a salad topped with a vinaigrette dressing, cranberry's, and pecans. if you're a salad person like me than it's also a must. overall our dishes were great we were all very full, lol! read more

I have been going to this restaurant for years eveey year except for the past three. It used to have a wonderful ambiance and good quality food with good portions. 5 stars. It appears that they have now divided the restaurant into three different restaurants. The restrooms look like they are public restrooms in a parking lot of sorts. The ambiance with threes and hanging lanterns is pretty much over. Go and take a look, don't waste your time with a reservation. It used to be a place where reservations were necessary but not now. There were only two paying parties there with 10 tables available. The cost is exhorbant for what you get. If the atmosphere was the same as before it would be tolerable. The food was good, the drinks were nice, yhe service was okay, the atmosphere is meh! The value is meh! Very disappointing. I told someone from work to go and had to correct my recommendation. Try other places for the price, unfortunately La Golandrina had its day its day is over. :( read more

WOW!! This place was AMAZING! Our group of 4 loved every single thing we ordered. We started off with margaritas, wine, martinis and a corona light. They were all nice and cold and delicious. I highly recommend the frozen mango margarita. Next we got the guacamole and salsa - it might be the best guac that I've ever had!! Then we got the soup of the day that comes with ever meal. Tonight's was corn chowder - very good. The garlic bread that came with the soup was amazing! Every single one of our entrees was great!! We ordered the chicken fajitas, the green chili chicken enchiladas, the Large Shrimp al Mojo de Ajo, and the steak and bacon wrapped shrimp. WOW! Every single of us give our plates two thumbs up! I personally had the green chili chicken enchiladas and it was the BEST green chili i've ever eaten! The tortillas that came with the chicken fajitas were also fabulous. The ambience and the service here was very impressive. The sparkly lights truly added to the experience. If you're looking for a place with amazing food, great service and relaxing ambience - this is it!! We all left full and happy! We have never been to Cabo - always go to PV, so we had no idea where to go to eat. My husband found this restaurant and he and I were more than impressed. The service was impeccable, polite and kind waiters. The food was AMAZING. They have a varied menu, so something for everyone's tastes. The kitchen is open so you can see the chef's cooking. We both had sea bass cooked different ways - done perfectly. The sautéed vegetables were amazing (I know, who writes about vegetables ), but that's how good they were. It's a beautiful outdoor setting with gorgeous trees and had lights hanging from them . Since it's outside, they have ponchos on the back of the chairs to put in your shoulders in case it's a cooler night. There were a trio of singers that came around (not Mariachis - which I was thankful for), and they were so good! I would not hesitate to come here again It's also in the building that's the oldest building in Cabo and was a trading post back in the day. They have the history written on the wall outside. A must when in Cabo! Beautiful strings of mini lights provide a "ceiling" over the outdoor seating, they are scattered throughout the trees and bushes giving it a feeling of romance. Live mariachi music fills the air, fresh seafood and Mexican items on menu... it doesn't get much better for ambiance, that's for sure, especially for dinner! I have dined at La Golondrina every time I've been to my beloved Cabo San Lucas, I always will. The menu is HUGE, I mean huge. I'm not just talking the number of items to choose from, the actual size of the menu is ginormous, it is located on the wall so you have to go over and read it before ordering at your seat. Ok, so that can be a pain but the food makes it worth it. Mostly I've stuck with the traditional Mexican dishes here; flautas, enchiladas, chile verde, tacos, shrimp and scallops. However, members of my party have tried the Lobster Plate for Two (HUGE) and other various seafood/shellfish/steak items. I swear every one of us in our party, on every single visit, has always left completely satisfied and with a huge smile on our face! Margaritas are nice and strong plus flavorful... get a pitcher, you'll want one! Mexican Coffee is supposed to be great also (I'm not a coffee drinker, but I see it lit up around the patio quite often). Desserts are rich and wonderful; hot fudge brownie with ice cream, flan, and there's a sampler type of dessert you can order with 3 little minis on your plate. Great way to finish off your spicy, delicious meal. As much as I recommend this place to anyone and everyone that I know who will be visiting Cabo, I felt I should give it some props by reviewing it here as well! We have been going to this restaurant yearly for the last 10 years. Our last visit will be our last. It started with our drinks; normally margaritas come in a margarita glass...not this time. Iced tea came in a tiny glass instead of a large glass as in the past. Ordered lobster which normally was a GIANT portion and melted in your mouth...this time tiny and tough. Normally come with steamed vegetables...none this time...instead a tiny portion of beans, rice and guacamole?? Fajita portion was a third of the size as in the past. All on all we spent $172 (4 people) and felt we were robbed. Management hasn't changed...but food has taken a turn for the worse. Not recommending to friends again. read more

Romantic mostly outdoor big patio restaurant. Lots of choices on the menu. The whole gambit: meats, fishes, vegetarian, regional Mexican dishes on the menu. Service is friendly and really impeccable. Plate portions are GIANT! Meals start with a small bowl of soup followed by a green salad. Meals we had were delicious enough but by no means spectacular. Plate presentation is adequate, but not fancy. Prices range from reasonable, my chicken mole' dinner was $19. My wife's huge fresh sea bass with all the trimmings was $22. Full bar. Wines are Chilean, so the few we had were adequate but not up to my standards as a Sonoma CA resident. Conclusion: Better than most other restaurants in CSL. Located 8 streets away from the downtown tourist insanity, it's next door to the City Club mega store. Well worthy of your appetite and time. Go! read more

We were looking for a restaurant that was walking distance from our condo and decided to give this one a try. The patio at night is very inviting and charming. We were seated immediately with no reservation, however I do understand that the place can fill up on a busier night. You order your meal after reviewing the huge menu board on the wall. Plenty of fresh fish and meat selections, even a few vegetarian as well. The dinners include a tostada salad, the soup of the day, and either beans and rice or potatoes of some sort. I ordered the sea bass and it was fantastic. Very fresh and cooked perfectly. Hubby ordered the Chicken Mole. Two large chicken breasts slathered with a spicy and beautiful mole sauce. While I am not a huge mole fan, this one I did like. You could taste so many different flavors and spices in this house made sauce. One thing to take note of - the portions are huge so don't worry about that! Pricing - well it can be on the higher priced side as many Cabo restaurants share this in common. Plus you then ad 16-1/2% local tax on top of it. Service was spot-on and the owner was charming and talkative. Another important item - the restrooms were the spotless and very clean. I will never make a reservation at your restaurant. I travel to San Lucas 3 times a year. You ripped me off for a $10.00 cancelation fee. I made the reservation yesterday and needed to cancel within ten minutes.But because I was in the 48 hr window, I couldn't cancel online. Wow... Sissy has outdone herself with La Golondrina. From the fairy tale ambience of the outdoor seating area with its low hanging trees and chic lighting, to the impeccably dressed, professional staff, this place has got it going on! Let me start by saying that the entrees are huge and delicious. So while the appetizer Dynamite Shrimp was yummy, and the soup & huge piece of bread that came before the entree were tasty, it left me too stuffed to finish my entree, which was some of the best Mexican food I've had this week. The chile relleno was huuuuuge...I'm talking bigger than my hand, and had just the right combination of chile, gooey cheese and egg fluff. I subbed mole sauce on my enchilada, which I was so happy I did, because it was the best mole sauce i have ever had. The carne asada was tender and well seasoned. After packing up over half of my entree for lunch tomorrow, I promptly ordered a piece of flan, because I had to try it, and it was just like my grandma used to make.
