Pasta and pizza is almost on every corner and Italian can run from budget to high end. With La Gondola you get the sweet spot in the middle. The decor is clean and fresh, the service is excellent (ask for Jimmy if possible) and the food is great for the price. They are very accommodating to modify dishes for your individual tastes. Garlic bread keeps coming and soups and salads are fresh and flavorful. We have not had pizza here so can't speak about that but everything else seems great. read more

I grew up in Connecticut and come from a family of Italians. I moved here 28 years ago and thought I would never taste good Italian food again unless I made it myself. For years I drove past this restaurant because I couldn't imagine good Italian food coming from a place in a strip center. I was so wrong. When I finally tried it I was first so surprised by the atmosphere. Quaint, elegant, romantic. Complete with white table linens. The food is beyond exceptional. My favorite dish is Veal Picatta and I have yet to find anything better out there. I wish the portions were just a little bit bigger though. I guess that's why you also get the pasta on the side. The only negative I have about the place at all is the live music. For the size of the restaurant it is much too loud. I've been there on several occasions on a first date and you cannot even hear each other talk. If they could just tone that down a bit it would be perfect in every way. Give the place a try. With all the positive reviews I had higher expectations of La Gondola, but I have to be honest and say this is a below average restaurant. The ambience was okay, the service was very good, menu is way over priced for the quality of the food. I ordered the Chicken Marsala with angel hair pasta, which the chicken was over cooked and the Marsala sauce tasted like Salisbury steak sauce, the pasta was so drenched in the Salisbury sauce that it was too bad to eat. My Husband ordered the Chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta, the chicken was tender and was eatable, but the red sauce was so salty that it was difficult to eat. On a positive note the garlic bread was very good. I wound not recommend La Gondola unless you like overpriced bland food. read more

Ordered through yelp to-go one night and paid through the app. They charged my husband (which he wasn't aware of) at the store as well. We were double-charged and are still waiting 18 days later for our refund that I've spoken to the manager about twice. Be careful when ordering from this establishment. Good service and beautiful setting. We came in for lunch on a Thursday and were seated right away. The garlic bread was some of the best we've ever had. Crispy exterior with a soft buttery and garlicy interior. The husband ordered chicken parm and I had the tortellini off of the lunch menu. The price was a little higher than other places. The cook on chicken and tortellini was absolutely perfect, but both dishes definitely needed salt. Overall, we'd return for the garlic bread and the service, but we definitely would need to try something else off the menu that will hopefully be better seasoned. read more

Pretty bad experience from the moment we sat down. The waitress felt pretty aggressive and kept saying "Si Si" but didn't understand anything I was saying. If you check the meaning of Si is yes so I assume that when you say Si to me it means you understand what I am ordering. I was very wrong I order once he repeated each dish while I was ordering then at the end of it he ask me to repeat what I order and I did, so I was like he asked twice there is no way he will get that wrong more than 30 minutes later he shows up with a dish split in two plate I asked what is that and he was like what you order. First I usually order a pasta dish at an Italian restaurant so I was sure I never order what he brought me second I never asked to split the order since he brought out an extra plate right after I order to split our dishes. Then the guy that brought out the bread was walking around without any idea what to do and who to bring the bread to. He passed by our table many times never drop the bread down until everyone else has their bread and when he got to our table was holding the bread without any idea where to place it. For our dish to come out it took forever so we finish our first bread basket and then the guy come around again and asked if we want more bread I said yes and he start to walk away with the bread and I was thinking what the heck. We order a soup a salad and an appetizer, the soup tasted like they used old parmesan cheese, the salad I didn't try it but it look ok no something you can really make it bad. The appetizer was the seafood one it was ok nothing to brag about. After the long wait our first course came out wrong order got tired of waiting because I was hungry for something edible so we talk to the host and offer to pay for what we had consumed but she said it was ok and we could just leave. First experience at La Gondola and the service and food were incredible! Can't speak highly enough about Alejandra, she knows her menu left and right and has great customer service. She spelled out the daily specials for us and we made our choices from her great explanations. The sea bass with linguine and white wine sauce was spectacular. Go here, you won't be disappointed. Good amount of food, I couldn't finish it all. We started with tomato basil soup, house salad and the bread--in the oven and buttered right before hitting the table. I ate at La Gondola for the first time last night even though I've lived in Mansfield for years. There were six of us so I made reservations just to be safe. We were seated immediately even though our entire group hadn't arrived (thank you for that). Our waiter was great. He really knew the menu, explained the specials, and didn't mind repeating things when our latecomers arrived. The food was great and just what I wanted. As others have said the bread is addictive! We declined dessert but our waiter brought us two slices of the Lemoncello cake on the house. Just as he said it was delicious! I will definitely be back to La Gondola. read more

We have eaten here twice & been disappointed both times. The service is slow & awkward. The biggest disappointment is the food. The antipasto plate actually had lunch meat on it & the cheese and other ingredients were also "grocery store" fare. I've had better lasagna from Stouffer's. Speaking of grocery stores, we could easily have found most, if not all, of the overpriced wines on the wine list from any of our neighborhood grocery stores. I'm not sure how these folks stay in business. For the price, we will drive to Fort Worth or Dallas for quality Italian food in the future.... read more

We had a reservation at 6:30 pm for a table of 8. Seating was prompt,however, service lacked. We had been seated for more than 10 minutes prior to being welcomed and drink request being taken. At this time we still weren't sure if the gentleman was our waiter due to lack of experience. There wasn't an introduction so we weren't sure if he was just providing water until we asked him "are you our waiter?". We were waiting for the remainder of our party, which was 3 so thought maybe that had been the reason no one had been to our table prior to waiting 10 minutes +. Beverage sales are a huge factor when dining and that was a disappointment when waiting for our reorder of beverages. We watched and one of our guests beer sat at the bar ready for pick up for 15 minutes. The wine ordered was forgotten and not delivered until we reminded him of the forgotten beer. The poor gentleman had few other table tops on the other side of the room, but it was just ridiculous. At the time of food being delivered, mine was delayed by 15-20 minutes. Everyone had their food and almost done by the time I received mine and what was sad was it was only 3 meatballs. The food was good but with poor service as such it results in a disappointing dining experience. They didn't ask if we were here celebrating any occasion, which we were trying to celebrate our moms birthday. There is some tweaking to be done and being in hospitality, service is adamant. Went here for lunch with the family on Mother's Day. Called a week before and asked if they could accommodate a gluten-free diet and they said "yes" that they had gluten-free pasta and other options, so I made a reservation. Two members of our family have celiac disease and must have gluten-free. On Mother's Day after being seated and ordering drinks we learned that they DID NOT have gluten-free pasta and really had no gluten-free options except salads and soup. Our server could not have cared less. Ruined a Mother's Day lunch. I felt lied to by the staff and they expressed on remorse for what they had done. I would not recommend a business that lies and takes a patron's health so lightly to anyone! read more

La Waste of Time Service 2* - the wait staff love to visit with their regular customers. This is great if you are one but leaves you waiting for service if you're not. And yes I took into account it was a busy Friday night. It took 5 minutes to place a drink order and 10 minutes to receive it; which is bad when you ordered ice tea and a sprite. When the ice tea arrived we added a glass of wine to the order, which arrived 10 minutes after the entrees and a gentle reminder. Food 2* - the bread, salad, and white bean soup were good. Unfortunately we stuck around for our entrees. The Pollo Marsala was cooked to rubber. The sauce was flavorful and the green beans were good. The oven roasted potatoes were lacking any seasoning and even dipping them in the sauce couldn't save them. The manicotti was ok and the fettucini alfredo was lackluster. Atmosphere 4* - the restaurant is beautiful and the bar scene was vibrant. Loved the server, once she knew we were her table. Clearly management has issues communicating. There are additional issues in the kitchen so the floor is not alone. Ordered two appetizers, brushetetta (bread was burned) and shrimp with pancetta (shrimp chewy). Decided not to order dinner with the first course less than par. Got the soup du jour, the zucchini cream was wonderful and a salad to finish off the so-so wine. One would think with the number of people in here the food would be better. I absolutely love this place. My cousin and I have come for the last 3 years to celebrate our Christmas. We always have their special Filet Oscar (which they serve on Friday and Saturday only). The files are melt in your mouth delicious. I can't say enough about everything that comes on the plate. The service is outstanding. The staff are all friendly. The only complaint I have is how noisy and loud it is in there, but it won't stop us from coming back again. read more

If you like Olive Garden then my review will pointless because I don't really like it. La gondola, on the other hand is fantastic. Their complimentary bread is simply divine. It looked like a plain ol baguette but they spread garlic on the inside. Omgosh so delish! I had the fettuccine primavera with chicken. So good! Waiter was nice and attentive. So glad we went on a groupon date or else we would have never been able to enjoy this wonderful deliciousness. Can't wait to go back. Oh yea, tiramisu is top notch. read more

We've been going to La Gondola since it was Italian Villa in Arlington. Over the years, in many dozens of visits the food has always been excellent and the service is good, even when they are very busy. Great lasagna, pasta and their side veggies are always cooked just right - not overdone. But the service this evening was terrible. Less than 30% of the tables were being used and it was still 20 minutes between the time the waitress took our drink orders until she came back for our food order. Other employees were paying more attention to us - refilling drinks and delivering food. The food was wonderful tasing as usual. This is the second time in the last two years we went on a Sunday. The service was really slow that night too. We thought it was because we had a group of six, but tonight there were just two of us. read more
