After hearing so much hype about this place, I came to give it a try at the Irvine Spectrum. I was expecting it to have a longer line, but there were only a couple people in front of us. I decided on trying the strawberry matcha in the 16oz. I thought it was nothing special. There are too many matcha shops around OC now that it just kinda passes by. Maybe I didn't try the right drink, but I can't imagine waiting 3 hours in line for this place. The matcha was basic and the strawberry was a bit to subtle for my liking. If anything, the refreshers looked good, but not sure I will be trying another matcha from here considering the price. Staff was nice and welcoming, but they don't have a good system to call out names, since there is limited standing space inside. We were waiting for our drinks to be called out, but did not hear anything. We walked inside after not hearing our names or drinks called out and found it just sitting at the counter. I prefer just making the drive to get better matcha or drinks 10-15 minutes away. read more

Tried their Eispanner with matcha and can say it is velvety & creamy. Matcha is light and sweet but gets lost by all the dairy. Eispanner only comes in the small size, same as a kid cup. For $7, I wouldn't get it, but for 50% I would. We also got the strawberry milk for the kids which is supposedly made with strawberry compote but did not see anything bits or seeds. Tasted fine, but not as refreshing as other locations. Banana Cloud Latte with matcha was the star of the show. Price was normal, $6.50-$7.50 per drink for a small size. Starting at the beginning: There was a long line, about a 20 minute wait. It was assumed there would be a wait. The staff did a good job walking a menu sheet out to the customers in the line. The negative is the staff handing out the menus did not answer my question about which drinks were not sweet because he liked sweet drinks. The next staff I spoke with right before walking in did knows and was more well informed about non sweet drinks. Once inside, the ordering process was fast and staff well informed. I asked more questions and they quickly knew the answers. Receiving the drinks after paying took another 23 minutes, as expected because the lines. They have a self service water fountain located outside, tables and chairs in the shade. All in all, I would come back for the Banana Latte Matcha and try a different drink. read more

I love coffee so I figured I'd check this place out, see if it was worth the hype. Unfortunately as expected it did not. I got the "perfect latte". It was the closest they had to a regular latte without the unnecessary bells and whistles of caramel or the cloud foam they put on top of some of their drinks. However it still had their secret sauce, which I was interested in trying even though I'm usually an unsweetened coffee kind of guy. Dear god it was SWEET!!! Not in a good way! It was so so so sugary it tastes like chocolate milk. If you aren't into super super sweet coffee I recommend getting half sweetness. I saw another review say you can't get without sweetener. Ridiculous if true. My boyfriend got the banana cloud matcha and he said it was good. I can't speak to that, but he agrees with what seems to be the consensus of a lack of matcha flavor. Service was good at the counter, the girl at the register was happy to answer my questions. However the wait was about 10-15 minutes even with a minimal line. I work in customer service too, I understand better than most that making peoples orders takes time. But it seemed to be a problem of not being organized that caused the wait more than anything. Our drinks were sitting for multiple minutes before our name was called. I'm really not sure why. The best thing I can say is that the cups and overall presentation is very cute! The heart shaped straw was super cute. However I'm a bit mortified at the amount of thick single use plastic being used here. It's a little sickening. My fav is probably the French toast latte or matcha einspanner. Also love that they have decaf espresso options for their drinks. Came yesterday during their soft opening and of course it was popping. Line was moving at a reasonable pace. From the time we got in line until we got our drinks was about 40 minutes which honestly wasn't as bad compared to others' experiences. Employees were all super nice and helpful. Service is 10/10. Also love their overall branding and aesthetic. Everything is intentional here, down to their cute straws. Is La La Land worth the full price? For me, not so much. I got the Matcha Squared (recommended to me by the employee) along with a few other drinks. The matcha green color that came out wasn't it for me. Even with a double shot of matcha, I personally cannot taste a strong matcha flavor. Even for a small size, it's $7.50 (not including tax) which is a bit appalling to me. Thankfully it was 50% off all drinks for their soft opening. Maybe they need to fine tune their proportions for the Grand Opening, or I maybe should have tried other drinks. What stood out the most was seeing employees trapping the bees under plastic cups and leaving them there inside the store. It made the whole experience feel uncomfortable and not very sanitary. Heard about this place from my Instagram feed and decided to finally try it this morning since the line looked pretty short and moved fast. There was still a bit of a wait once you ordered, though. The drinks were alright, but honestly I don't really get the hype. I ordered the strawberry matcha cloud latte and thought it was okay.. The biggest issue was the drink pickup process; it felt really disorganized. I saw multiple drinks get handed to the wrong people, and it actually happened to me too. I think they should go by order numbers instead of names because obviously a lot of people can have the same name. It was a literal assault on my gut. The ratio of acids to non acids is a true science experiment of sorts. Aren't we poisoned by food in our society enough? When I walk into an establishment I expect to spend my hard earned money on something healthier than a rush to find antacid pills. This was my first visit and unless there is a great change in food sourcing or more thought given to food prep I doubt I will return. My guest had the MAKA toast and it was also lackluster in freshness bananas were probably a day past ripe and presentation again was a let down. I ordered their banana cloud latte and aside from the price, it was good. The coffee was okay, the banana wasn't overwhelming, taste was fine. My complaints don't lie in the taste of the drink. I went on a Friday evening around 9PM. It wasn't terribly busy, but the pick-up counter was understandably crowded. The worker standing by the counter calling out names wasn't very loud, so my friends' drinks sat out for a while before they realized they were ready. When I received my drink I asked the girl standing at the counter for a straw and another worker had to retrieve a new pack of straws from the back and she assured me he was getting more which was fine, I had no problem waiting. After the straws were refilled, the girl at the counter kept chatting with her coworker -- giggling and joking -- while the crowd of people waiting for their drinks grew. Even after the straws were refilled, the girl working the counter did not hand me one and instead continued to seemingly flirt with her coworker right in front of the crowd of customers. I witnessed another customer ask her for a straw and she handed it to her without turning away from her coworker -- no eye contact, no acknowledgment whatsoever -- which I found to be pretty insulting and disrespectful. If you're working your focus should be on helping the customers and not chatting with your coworker. When there was a lull in said chat, I asked for my straw again and finally got it. It was pretty annoying to deal with as even after the straws were stocked she continued to talk to him and didn't hand me the straw I asked her for moments ago. Walking away I saw a few other customers with disgruntled expressions so I'm sure my friends and I weren't the only ones who felt disappointed with the service. Another thing I noticed while waiting for my drink was that aside from her low volume, she kept making expressions when calling out some names. I understand not knowing how to pronounce names you're unfamiliar with, but I think it's important to maintain a respectful demeanor despite this. The faces might have been her cringing at herself for her butchering, but things can get easily misunderstood, so it's better to control such expressions more so customers don't feel bad. I've been here before and the customer service was great. The worker could've been overwhelmed or tired, but the overall experience Friday night wasn't the best and it left me with a sour taste in my mouth. read more
