Food: 4.5/5 Love this place. We ordered the meatballs, the schnitzel margarita, and a linguine vongole. The meatballs (5/5) were delicious. It was super flavorful and tender! Might be one of the best meatballs I've ever had. The schnitzel (4/5) came with a side of pasta and the pork was very tender. The linguine (4/5) was packed with clams and had a perfectly buttery flavor. Everything we ordered was delicious! Service: 4/5 We ordered for takeout. No complaints here. Very friendly staff. This is a little gem in Yonkers that I have been going to for years. I have celebrated birthdays, father and mother's day many of times here prior. Always my preferred place. I decided this is where I wanted to spend my pre-father's day celebration with my family. I called two weeks ago and made reservations for 5pm for six for today Saturday, June 14th 2025. Despite my confirming my reservation online, I was contacted by the hostess to confirm again. At that time, I was told I had 1 hour and 45 minutes from arrival to eat and depart. I was flabbergasted at what I was told. I responded to the hostess, not her fault, I found her comments insulting and told her so. I have spent, on average of $500 and $700 each time I have eaten there. There are other ways to "HINT" to the patron you need to HURRY UP eat your food and dessert. Pay your large bill and get the F**K out so we can turn the table over. I have frequented more exclusive places like "Capital Grill" on the east side of Manhattan, Chart House, etc... and never was told I have a time limit. My family felt rushed throughout the meal and nervous. As long as I am spending my hard-earned money, I should not have a time limit. I am cognizant of my time and realize the restaurant industry is still trying to recover from COVID. Also, they are now passing the credit card processing fee to the customer, if not paying cash. It wasn't like that before. Lastly, after my sister paid the bill north of $600, plus tip, for treating me to father's day, we were still finishing up our desserts and coffee when the owner whispered in my ear "there were other patrons waiting on the table". That ruined the entire night. My family felt the same. In short, I will certainly consider other restaurants like GIANNAS or ANGELINA Italian Restaurant as a preferred place when planning an event. I would still go to La Laterna if I need a last minute place and just my wife and I. Food was good as was the service. When calling be sure to inquire about time limits. Hope this helps... read more

I managed to get in without a reservation, turns out the restaurant was like half empty and they kept trying to make us thankful that they just barely managed to squeeze us in. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer, a soup, and accidentally ordered the fried calamari dish (sorry forgot what its called, its a bunch of fried seafood, but mostly calamari). We had asked the server what it was, and she told us to just look it up online. We accidentally ordered it cuz we had been hyper fixated on the dish, and she didnt bother to tell us that it was basically the same as the calamari in front of us; that we had just mentioned to her was too much to finish, and that we specifically came here to try their pasta. So service was pretty meh at best. The food though was bomb, even though we really only ate fried calamari and some clam chowder (to which we had to ask for bread seperately). read more

Food is solid here. Love the outside dining. It will not be the cheapest meal you eat but won't be the most expensive either. The fusilli bolognese special was very good. We also had shrimp in olive oil and they were super fresh. The fudge cake was the the only rub for me - it was cake, it was a slice of chocolate fudge filled to the center which made it a lil tough to get through. As long as you like very rich, chocolate desserts, you'll be fine. The avocado appy was super original and tasty. I'll have the sauce on the side next time - it was really good however. read more

Friends of ours took us to this hidden spot this week; the staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful and the atmosphere is great. There is a great selection on the menu. I had the Chicken Scap and my wife had the Vodka Rigatoni and both were delicious. There is a great selection of wines and we pad a lovely Pinot Noir from Oregon. I've been wanting to check this place out, so it has certainly been a long time coming. And, now I'm glad I did because it was quite a good experience! First off let's talk about the interesting combo that this place offers. It is first and foremost an Italian restaurant. But, they also have a beer garden and feature tons of great beers, giant pretzels, and an array of specialty schnitzels! Go figure. A weird combo, but it works! Some of the standouts on our visit included the burrata and prosciutto appetizer and the chicken parmesan (Tony ordered that one, which I tried; it was fantastic!). My meal was just okay--the waiter suggested an off-the-menu seafood dish, which Included a variety of different seafood served over linguini. It was just okay (could have been more flavorful), and, while the shrimp was clearly fresh, the rest of the seafood served with it seemed previously frozen and was a bit tough. Note that I did see another person order a shrimp meal, which looked absolutely fantastic! Next time, if I order seafood, I will definitely just stick with shrimp The place is quaint and romantic and inside is a mix of old school with a few updated elements and such. One of the more updated elements about the restaurant is the outside beer garden. It is definitely much more contemporary than the inside. The dining room is a tad updated. This is a nice place. Very small but also intimate. I ordered the stuffed cheesy bread along side with the meatball ravioli. Both dishes were amazing. I received great service. The cheesy bread dough was deep and the cheese pull was A1. The prices are decent for the dish size and quality of food. I would go back to try other things on the menu. read more

I've seen many advertisements for La Lanterna on Facebook and Instagram and have been wanting to try it for a while. Last night my wife and I and her cousin and her husband met for dinner at La Lanterna. We walked in through the outside garden seating area and the next time we go we'll try for a table outside. Those are hard to come by so plan in advance. The inside portion of the restaurant is beautiful as well. Not large but has about 20 tables with ample space. The menu is well thought out and contains most Italian favorites (Chicken Parm, pasta, lasagna, pizza, meatballs, etc) but there are some twists such as their schnitzels (Jager and plain). I was torn between Fresh Tripolini and Jager Schnitzel, this time I opted for Fresh Tripolini which is fresh ribbon pasta in an absolutely delicious bolognese sauce that doesn't overpower the pasta. My wife had Spaghetti Carbonara, and the cousins had Chicken Francese and Chicken La La Caprese. All dishes were excellent and the portions large. There is an ample amount of servers who are there when you need them but do not hover which is great. Parking is tough as we went on a Saturday night, but you'd have to expect that given the restaurant location ( directly off the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers. As you go down the street don't be wary of the first couple of building you see as this gem of a restaurant is at the end of the block and is as advertised. An exceptional restaurant. La Lanterna never disappoints. Their rigatoni LaLavodka is beyond delicious. We request it spicy with a side of breaded chicken, and OMG it is heavenly, delicious flavors topped off with some fresh arugula. Their calamari is the best you'll ever taste. Also, the chicken francese is beyond good. Salads are also delicious, meatballs, pizza... everything. They have a very good wine selection at reasonable prices. I also love their tartufo. Beautiful atmosphere and quiet. The indoor dining space is small with wall separators for those worried about contact. The atmosphere feels like an Italian grandmothers home, it was cozy. There's outdoor seating but it's too cold for that right now, even though they have fire pits. We had stuffed crab and shrimp, shrimps and Cajun mahi mahi as our entre. For appetizer we had crispy fire shrimp... and oh my that was delicious! For desserts we had stuffed zeppoles with cannoli filling and Nutella dip. The restaurant did not disappoint. Very happy with the food selection and meals themselves. Will also give kudos the staff, they were very attentive to their customers, constantly asking if everything is alright or is we needed anything. I've always wanted to check this spot out for the past 2 years driving from Yonkers to Riverside Dr. Well, surprised my wife and daughter for a nice, peaceful late afternoon dinner. What a great spot! It's tucked away and if you're traveling on the Sprain you'll miss that turn if you're not diligent. Parking could be an issue as the place gets crowded. The place had a nice mix of all generations, kids to the elderly and everyone in between. We ordered the avocado fries and calamari for appetizer and that was pretty good. Then for the main course, lobster ravioli, burger and the OG stuffed Sicilian. Yummy. The Sicilian is good for 2 people or a small group of 6, 1 piece each. We waited a bit too long in between ordering our appetizers and main meal. That's the reason for the 1 less star on service. The place wasn't crowded. I have to admit this place is amazing! I have lived in Yonkers for a while I always this place going up saw mill and always catch my eye but never called me to go check it out but a mutual friend of a friend recommended big time to go and do so and I'm glad we did! Let's start with the outside . As soon as you go in outside set up is awesome. You have a fire Pitt section to seat and plenty of seating area . Inside is cozy . Place is not that big but just right. Great for date night . Started out with a few apps and they were all on point very large portions . Entrees also large portions and price was not bad all . I had basically a spicey rigatoni ala vodka and it was on point ! Who needs to go to carbone when you can get the same food here . The only complaint I may have and it's stupid bread is given upon request . I feel every time we asked for bread the staff would ignore the request . Always had to ask a few times to many . There was times when we asked they just yes us and ignored the request . But overall 4/5 stars . If I would have gotten my bread it was 5/5 . read more

Fried Calamari fritti with their trademark special sauce is to die for! The fried bronzino Shrimp Risotto was the Risotto of the day were quite good, rich creamy risotto. And the fish was not overcooked just about right. We've been to this restaurant a few times and they never fail us to satisfy our cravings. Without looking at Lanterna's menu, I think what kept me away from visiting, was mostly their 'beer' in their 'Beer & Wine Garden' signage. But I still saved Lanterna in my back pocket just in case I struck a nerve to visit. I've also driven up and down the Saw Mill with my husband at night and notice the gorgeous white lights in their patio giving Lanterna that charming, oasis-looking total package. So the curiosity began. It's located off Saw Mill Pkwy- just hang a left on the Hearst St. exit and another sharp left to finally get there. I'm actually digging their secluded setting surrounded by trees without having to travel way out to the boonies. A few steps up lead you to a quaint entrance- with the Bar on right and then you get this Chalet-looking Dining room on left: hard-wood floors, brick facade walls and wooden ceiling beams- adding lots of naturalness. My 'Sweet Pear' Arugula Salad was unique and delicious. Ditched their Vinaigrette and went with Olive O. & Balsamic on its own. Melanzane (Eggplant Rollatini) Appetizer was perfectly sized and could've doubled as an Entree- I'm thinking. Plus- they nailed the tomato sauce in it: fresh and bright without any herbs screaming at you. Service was spot on from everyone and both my plates were nicely done. Honestly, I was impressed and would like to try more of what Walter Tarone- chef/owner of Lanterna is bringing to the table. La Lanterna's food is always a go-to! I highly recommend their chicken francese, margherita pizza, burrata, and calamari. All staff are warm and welcoming. Although this is right off the saw mill parkway, you would never know with their fences, live music, fire pits, and great outdoor atmosphere. This was my second time dining here, both times getting the Honey Pepperoni Sicilian pizza and Calamari. The pizza looked good but was average, we had to ask for it to be warmed again because it was colder than room temperature. The calamari was sort of thick and rubbery.
