My parents recommended this place and we came to celebrate my dad's birthday! We came on a Sunday night and called ahead to make a reservation for 6 pm for 4, although it probably wasn't needed. The menu has a decent number of options, not too overwhelming, however definitely suggest waiting to hear about the specials as there are many and none are on the menu. We ended up ordering the Ossobuco, Duck Breast, and Grilled Trout (all specials). Ossobuco: Super flavorful, very tender, comes with a rich silky sauce that you'll want to mix all of your rice with (comes with a side of white rice). Highly recommend! Duck Breast: Came in a cast iron pot over rice (almost like a paella) and a side of marinated red onion. Our server suggested mixing the onions into the rice which was a good move. I did wish there was more duck to rice, because the amount of rice it comes with is huge compared with the two pieces of duck which didn't have much meat on them. The rice quickly became the star of the dish, and I'd still recommend it even if you don't get much duck because of the rice. We ended up not even eating much of our white rice because of how good this rice was! The crispy bits at the bottom were excellent! Grilled Trout: Good, although nothing mindblowing. But definitely good to have a lighter, healthier dish to balance out everything else we ordered. The fish was flaky and cooked well. They brought out alfajores (Peruvian cookie) with a candle and sang happy birthday for my dad which was nice. Very sweet caramel filling on the inside and although not my type of dessert, it was very unique. Kind of surprised that it was both me and David's first time here after hearing about it for so long, and definitely a place we would visit again!
We arrived on a Saturday and there was no wait. It's not a stand alone restaurant, it's located in a shopping center and parking might be limited when it's full. Luckily, there was no wait time when we arrived and our waitress took our order right away. The food did not take long to come out but after I ate the aji de gallina, I had some stomach pains. The flavor of the other plates were good but it can be pricey. The environment is nice and can be loud, if you want classical music with low lighting this place is not for you. Overall, it was ok...food can be overpriced and FYI they do not take American Express for payment.

It's unnecessarily loud for dinner time but it may be to help get people in, serve them, eat fast and get out. The lemonade was good.

The place was loud, the food is expensive and quite frankly does not live up to the expectations. I ordered the bistec and it looked dry and not even hot - as if it's been recycled. They just slapped in the tomato salad (without any dressing), rice and soggy fries. Oh and actually they didn't bring ketchup until I asked so let me actually floor the review to one star. I would encourage you to instead check out Barra Brava in Rockville. It's way better on all levels.
Another excellent experience at La Limeña in Rockville. We started with several appetizers and everything was outstanding. The crab causa was fresh and well balanced, and the fish tiradito had great flavor with the perfect level of acidity. For the mains, the Mondonguito a la Italiana was excellent--tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The Jalea Mixta was crispy, generous, and served with fresh red onions, cancha, and a great tartar sauce. The Surtido juice was also delicious--fresh, refreshing, and perfectly blended. A special mention to Mónica, who took care of us again and provided exceptional service. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. Definitely a place worth coming back to.
Lovely restaurant with great service and great food. We had dinner here on Saturday night, and it was fairly crowded, but there were some tables available and we were seated immediately. We ordered two appetizers and one entree. Everything was delicious. The first appetizer was: Pastel de Choclo con Carne, which was my favorite - so very delicious! I don't know if there were any raisins or boiled egg in it (versus how it was described on the menu); perhaps there were, but they were blended so thoroughly they left no trace. I think the second appetizer was Tamalito Verde Norteño con Pollo, although the meat inside was pork, not chicken (and it wasn't green). Perhaps it had a different name on the in-restaurant menu (which I regretfully did not photograph). Regardless, we enjoyed it. The entree was Aji De Gallina, one of our favorites from dining at other Peruvian restaurants. It was quite creamy. The dessert menu was intriguing, but we had overindulged (and still had leftovers to take home), so we did not partake. We do plan to come back again. And next time, I intend to leave room for dessert!
My girlfriend suggested this and I was iffy walking in as I wasn't much in the mood to sit down in an upscale leaning restaurant. I ordered arroz chaufa de pollo and it was absolutely splendid. My girlfriend ordered aji de gallina, which was very creamy. It's nothing I would order, but she likes food with sweetness. She also ordered flan for dessert. Aside from a great meal experience, the staff was even better. Our waiter, Jose, was a true pleasure. A hostess visited our table twice to make sure everything was going well. Their staff is immediately available upon a slight glance. The decor and atmosphere is cultural and very warm. This is truly a gem, hidden in a small strip mall. I'm not from the area, and my girlfriend mentioned this was once a hole in the wall that has been considerably upgraded. This is a really really really good restaurant with a superb staff. I look forward to returning.
Customer service, follow up from waiters, follow up from floor managers, employee attention, the floor to wall decorations, cleanliness, FOOD QUALITY, and the options ALL EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS! I was over impressed as was my wife and the attention on my birthday was excellent! When you visit this place I can assure you, you will be over pleased. I wouldn't get a picture but the Maracuya Mousse Dessert was a great way to end the night.
Just okay. From trying their Bistec a la Parrilla to their Bistec a lo Pobre, Limena just felt like any other Peruvian restaurant. Although their interior is beautiful and the staff are friendly, their food was just not worth the 30 min drive.. Maybe we just needed to other plates.
First time back since COVID-19 and we were not disappointed. There were ten of us and we were all well served. We shared Civiche Mixto and Arroz Mariano's, my favorites, Peruvian Sangria and Cusquena, a Peruvian lager, Bistec Limena, Lengua Guisada, Osobuco arroz chichi, Panceta Crocan, Choclo con queso, side Papa Dora's, Soloterito de Quinua and Degustacion de postr. Every dish was beyond satisfying. The ambiance was relaxed and the family conversations were animated. Thanks to the staff and management for making this a memorable experience. Peru
Great food and service! This is our first time trying Peruvian food and we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered a Tacu Tacu con Lomo and Aji de Gallina. Both dishes were delicious.
Started things off with the Ceviche mixto. The fish, calamari, & shrimp are incredibly fresh to the palette. They have just the right amount of lemon juice. However they put a comical amount of onions on top, made me question if I ordered ceviche or onions with a side of ceviche as an appetizer. Jokes aside, the seafood quality made up for it. 4/5 For the main entree, I ordered the Arroz con mariscos. This might be their best plate on the menu (in my opinion). It's their take on a Spanish paella with Peruvian flavors & spices. Rice was seasoned perfectly. The fish was surprisingly my favorite protein on the dish because it literally melts in the your mouth, it's buttery soft. Shrimp and calamari were also very good. The only underwhelming part were the clams and oysters, they simply didn't hit the mark for me. 4/5 For dessert I went with the vanilla flan. I was confused why it arrived with the tip cut off. As if someone took a bite from it. Out of the hundreds of flans I've tried in my life, it's always a perfect triangle or a circular mound shape. I'm assuming it's because of the mold used, but was disappointed none-the-less for $9 a slice arriving like this. The flan was creamy at the top but very curdled / lumpy for the bottom half. This is a clear sign it's been overcooked & not properly made. I should have said something but didn't feel like complaining. Disappointing dessert. 2/5 My parents and I ordered about 8 plates total (4 to eat there & 4 to go). What really grinded my gears is they wanted to charge us for some sauce cups to go. I'm sorry but if you don't charge for refilling the sauces while eating in, at the very least each to-go entree should include 1 of each sauce. They even wanted to charge my mom for a slice of lime with her water. Nickle & diming your customers is a huge turn off for me. Especially when we spent way beyond your average patron. Because of the disappointing dessert and nickle/dime policy, this place is an honest 3/5 for me.

Pretty good dining experience overall given they offer a variety of options on their menu. I'm a big fan of their paella and the lomo Saltado. The paella is a huge portion that honestly could feed 2 people. Service is also quick and the staff check on their diners for beverage refills and experience. I also ordered their passion fruit mojito for any alcohol drinkers. You can barely taste the alcohol in it. I wouldn't say it is a formal restaurant at all but could potentially you could come in slightly more formal for a date night. It is definitely family friendly and there's plenty of seating. read more
I came back to La Limeña Grill to try a few more dishes, and unfortunately, this visit was a bit more mixed. The paella was a little disappointing for me. It was very watery and lacked the flavor I was hoping for. The lomo saltado, however, was good! The beef was flavorful and savory. I still really enjoy the atmosphere and attentive service here, but I think some dishes are definitely stronger than others and the dishes are a little pricy. read more

Visiting with family on a cold winter evening. This place was hopping already at 4pm. We ordered some of the most popular items - grilled trout, steak, and ceviche. The young waiter was pushing drinks - hard. But left disappointed since we only got water. lol. read more

The decor and service are really what kept this score from being in the basement. This really is a lovely place and, but for the bus/waiter asst. who was endlessly hovering near my table, the service was quite good. But the food. Not so much. I started with the garlic shrimp & yucca appetizer. While I wouldn't call them salad shrimp, I would categorize them as quite small. The accompanying yucca tasted like they sat in lukewarm oil for too long. My next dish was the osso buco special of the day. I live osso buco. This piece was quite large but was clearly being stored in a cold environment instead of in a warm sauce. Due to its size they were not able to reheat it correctly and half of it was scaldingly hot while the other half was cold (I don't mean room temperature). While the rice that came with it was nice, the sauce was a little ho-hum. I may try this place again but not with these two dishes. You've been warned. read more

We have passed this place many times going up and down the Pike over the years, and decided to stop in for lunch. It was reasonable. We were glad to be able to sit outside. The music was intolerably loud but the manager turned it down on our request. I had a sangria cup and my wife had a cup of red wine. She had the quinoa salad, which se found much too salty, but I enjoyed my aji de gallina-- and the quantity of food was ampe. Charging extra for bread struck us as a ripoff, especially because the bread was boring white bread; but the dips were nice on it. The saving grace was the dessert -- not that I needed dessert given the size of my main. But I wanted to try it. I got the degustacion -- a maracuya mousse, a lucuma mousse, and a rice pudding. The mousses in particular were exceptional La Limeña gets a five for the desserts and a three for the rest read more

Went here earlier today with a group of friends and I've to say I was very impressed. I got the beef heart and at first I was skeptical, but the meat was so flavorful and delicious (definitely want to get it again). The ceviche was great as well and the sauce was to die for. Lastly I had the Aeropuerto and it was a such a generous size and it was amazing eating the rest at home. The fried octopus was awesome and the seasoning was just perfect. Big shout to Miriam for throwing in dessert and awesome service, I definitely am going to come back in May and/ or June!!!! read more

First time at a Peruvian restaurant and the food did not disappoint - ceviche was delicious, flavors were very balanced with acidity and sweetness. I ordered the daily special aaroz con pato and it came with a very good cilantro rice in a hot bowl. The servers were very nice and attentive and they offered us a small dessert for being first time guests. Definitely recommend trying this place. read more
This place is a family favorite. The service is always attentive and timely. The food is fresh and flavorful. I do wish they had more options for children. The portions are large enough that you leave feeling stuffed. The interior is decorated as Spanish colonial. Highly recommend. read more

love this place. our waiter was also from peru and he indulged me in allowing me to practicar mi castellano. my mom was very impressed. i had their aji de gallina which i regard as a real litmus test for a peruvian kitchen and much better than my version. more balanced. and enjoyed a glass of chicha morada. my mom had chupe de camarones and seemed to dig it. read more

It was our first time visiting here on a Monday night. I love the ambiance and the spacing of the restaurant. It doesn't feel tight but rather cozy. The staff were very welcoming and were patient with us as we asked many questions on the menu. The food options are unique, and offered plenty of options for folks with any dietary preferences. The portions are definitely big. I shared a dish with my husband and that's how we were able to wipe the plates clean. This is definitely a place to explore new cuisines for those whom are bold to try! I never thought Peruvian food can be this spectacular!
