The customer service is poor, once i walked in it was obvious i didn't know where or what to order, the menu is hidden, and no one greeted us or even asked if we wanted anything. I had to flag someone behind the counter and ask how to order. Once you order it is almost a fast food vibe from the service. The tables also smell like a dirty rag. Gives you a hole in the wall bronx diner feeling. This place has potential but it is confusing of what they niche is! Are you a café, galley style diner, or fast food joint. The food is generally very good and the restaurant is always busy. However today the first thing I noticed was trash on the floor in the kitchen area such as broken eggshells, tomatoes, etc. and I had to point it out before anyone attempted to pick it up. Just made me wonder about the overall cleanliness of the restaurant. Then I saw another employee spray what I'm assuming is butter on an uncooked pastry, rub it in with the same gloved hands she was using to handle other objects and then also wipe her face. She did not put on fresh gloves when handling the food. Then the tomato basil soup I ordered was cold even though it was scooped out of a container that should have been keeping it hot. Made me wonder how it could be considered a safe temperature. Probably will think twice about coming back. read more

Idk why this La Madeleine has low stars... It is always fairly busy and we all seem to be satisfied customers. I've tried a couple things that I may not care for twice but that's just me. The food has always been cooked very well and presented nicely. Great coffee, fresh juice, soft breads and today I really enjoyed the Mimosa! The staff has always been friendly and helpful enough. I have a hard time understanding the 1 star reviews. We've never had a bad experience here. The pastries, quiche, and soup are a great option in Kingwood (where honestly the food options are lacking). My husband is French, and he really likes the croque madame. Nice atmosphere inside. They have outdoor seating, as well, but you'll have to be willing to sit directly next to parked cars. We had: - Cappuccino (good) - Sausage, mushroom, and cheddar omelet (average) - Crepe Romanoff (good) If ever possible, I'd like to see more healthy options. The "smart choice" portion of the menu was very small, so I can't imagine eating here often since the four choices they did offer would get old pretty quickly. I was really disappointed with this establishment today. We are regular customers. We ordered through grubhub a pickup order. The restaurant gave our order away to someone else. When we went to pick it up, the manager rudely stated that they wouldn't remake it for us and we would have to figure it out through grubhub. I understand having to get payment remedies through grubhub- But since the restaurant gave the order away to the wrong customer, it was technically their a mistake. The managers bad attitude was unwarranted. We just wanted to work through the issue together. You'd think they would practice better customer service to handle their own faux pas. read more

I used to go to the Galleria store in the mid-1990's but haven't been for a long long while. Was greeted with a bon jour and wanted to have some French onion soup but had the kiddo with me so I just grabbed a slice of Napoleon cake to go. Staff was friendly and efficient. They only had strawberry flavored cake though. I seem to recall the chain used to carry plain. Oh well. It tasted good, not great, but solid enough to curb my craving. This was the first time we have ordered curbside from this establishment since the pandemic began. We we ordered two omelettes which are supposed to come with croissants. I got home no croissants. I went back to pick up my croissants and they only brought one out to the car. I had to send them back in to get the second one. Both omelettes were supposed to have mushrooms spinach and Swiss cheese but they had mushrooms onions and Swiss cheese. I called and spoke to the manager who Really didn't seem that concerned although after I continued to tell him what he did wrong he finally asked what he could do to make it right. So if you do order from this La Madeleine check your order very very carefully before you leave. $23.78 is too much to pay for uncaring incompetence. read more

I am regular many times a week a month even a day regular. Unfortunately since the reopen, they havent gotten their mojo back or their staff needs more training. 3 times the sausage was pink, cold, and inedible. Orders no longer come to the table at the sametime, one meal, then a little bit later another etc. 20 percent of the time an order is wrong. we have 5 people, each time we go one order is wrong. aghast, the coffee was cold. I have talked to management their, i am told they are working the kinks out. They still havent fixed their floors, i trip a bit each time i go now. I've been going to La Madeleine since I was a baby growing up in Kingwood, I'm 20 years old now. My family was loyal to La Madeleine for a long time. It was my favorite place. Until the chicken has changed to something truly horrendous and revolting. I've asked around and many others are complaining of the same. I did my research and in fact the chicken has been changed at every location. This was a terrible mistake. And me and my family are severely disappointed. I do appreciate the people that work here. Every time I've been here has been a positive experience. What is not so good is the results of the enterprise. Often times, there are flying insects. That doesn't speak well of the operation, and its cleanliness. There is also the issue of the food quality. I recently had a beef French Dip sandwich at this location. While it tasted pretty good, it was a very bad, gristled cut of beef. Imagine being on a date where you kept having to spit out chunks of gristle into your napkin. Again. I love the people here. What the heck is going on with this place?? I grew up in Kingwood, and still have family who lives there. I've been to this location SO MANY TIMES. The last few visits were mostly in the evening. The ladies who work there in the morning are AWESOME, but..... who is hiring the 'kids' who work here in the afternoon/evening?? I walked in to order and stood in front of the two teenage workers who were less than 3 feet in front of me to be greeted and they did not even look up at me. It was like neither wanted to be bothered and take my order... as if they were playing 'chicken' with each other to see who would cave first. They guy who took my order cut me short and was a total jerk. I go down the line to only SEE the guy who is supposed to be at the cash wrap pretending to fight and squirt water from the dish washing nozzle. Other young guys were chatting and cursing in front of my child as we got our drinks. They are pulling out their phones and texting on the floor. They are going out to their cars in pairs and returning still on the clock. Hmmm wonder what's going on here... I went up to get a to-go box from the to-go girl, but could not get her to look up at me until AFTER she sent her text. Come on... Managers, please turn this place around. Mistake #1: Tried to pick-up food to go on Mother's Day during the lunch hour. Despite the insanity, we were able to place our order within 10 minutes of arriving to the restaurant. The lines were nearly out the door, but we were able to snag a place to sit. The order ended up taking close to 30 minutes to fulfill, but everything was warm and fresh when we got home. Ordered a whole roast chicken, sourdough bread loaf, pasta salad, large Caesar salad, two eclairs, and a quiche florentine. All for $40ish which wasn't that bad, in my opinion. The staff seemed to be moving quickly, but it was a little warm. They were also running out of things quickly and seemed to be replenishing what you wanted the moment you finished ordering. My fiance' and I had breakfast there for the first time on yesterday morning. Although the staff was wonderfully friendly, we won't be going back. Our food portions were small, my potato galette was nicely sized but it was hard to chew the hard edges. The floor was dirty around our table-animal cookie crumbs and French fries. I'm kind of torn on this. Two stars or three? I'll go with three for now. Hub and I go here infrequently but when we do, it is generally for breakfast. They have a pretty good one. Since I like fruit and pastry, it's a good place for me and they have really nice coffee. I like the American version in the green pot. The French roast is just too burnt tasting to me. One HUGE strike against this place and why I almost gave them two stars is that they DO NOT HAVE ECLAIRS! How the hell can you call yourself a French bakery without eclairs??!! Anyway, their chocolate croissant is nice as is their regular version. I got hooked on croissants in Paris. These are not as good as the ones in France, but better than any other I have found in this town. For lunch and dinner, I like their roasted chicken. Rotisserie chicken is one of my favorites and they do this pretty well. The potato gallette is also nice. The staff here always seem a little disorganized. The model for ordering at La Mad is a little confusing for some and I generally get behind someone that is having issues. The lady behind the pastry counter is nice though. Lastly, I do like the French country decor. In winter time, it's good to get in early and snag a spot near the fire. I covet their huge limestone hearth. read more

I've been to other La Madeleine locations and never had a problem, I went to this location last weekend and probably won't return again for a good long time. I ordered a sandwich and chips and my wife ordered tomato basil soup and I believe pasta. Her soup was room temperature and tasted too salty. My sandwich tasted just fine but when the server was delivering it he spelt part of my chips on the table! I understand people make mistakes but he just gave a blank stare and walked off in hurray, no offer to bring additional chips or anything. read more

We have to move trays off tables to get a seat and wipe them down ourselves. Kind of ridiculous. La Madeleine is such a gem to Kingwood and one of my favorite places to meet with friends. If you are a die-hard Panera patron, don't show up expecting a French Panera because they provide different experiences. La Madeleine has an amazing atmosphere, the food is priced within what I would expect with a place rated $$ by Yelp, and is always clean and calm. Even with a full crowd, I can always manage to sit and enjoy my visit. La Madeleine in Kingwood is hands-down one of my favorite places because of the uniqueness of the brand and how well this location is maintained. The store is usually a little dustier than I'm comfortable with, but today it was filthy. They were not serving lattes (the machine was broken), they were nearly out of coffee, and they were completely out of coffee stirrers. I had to stir it with a soup spoon, and heaven help the next customer because I took the last one. They were nearly out of forks, and completely out of knives.
