I can't believe it's been 7 years! Time for an update and this is the perfect challenge for LaMadeline. Guy H is not cooking for Thanksgiving this year! I know shocking. So,I needed a reasonable facsimile Thanksgiving meal that was inexpensive,easy and satisfying. I'm happy to report all criteria were satisfied as was my cravings for, turkey, dressing, cranberry and desert. The generous slices of turkey breast smothered in subtly seasoned mushroom gravy was perfect. Apple stuffing was unique and delicious accompanied by almond tomato topped haricots verts. Add the complimentary soft sourdough slices and polish it off with lemon and chocolate tarts and bam...done. Mrs wrote this on a business trip. Early lunch. Steady flow of people. I ordered the Soup and salad. you could do 2 soups & 1 salad or 1 soup and 2 small salads. I opted for the 2 soups. Baked potato & tomato basil, very tasty. My salad was spinach. There is false advertising at this La Madeleine. On the front window they have "For Limited Time Only. Pick 3 for $8.99 Your choice of ANY half sandwich, side and beverage. All day, every day." I thought "that is a good deal!" My daughter and I selected 3 things but when she looked at the receipt, it was $6 more. She returned to the counter to ask why and was told "we don't half chicken salad sandwiches and the tiny bowl of tomato soup is not included!" Now I am fairly sure I understand the meaning of the word "any" as anyone else would. The wording of Pick 3, your choice and ANY!!! DOES NOT BELONG ON THIS ADVERT IN THE FRONT WINDOW. While in line to get pastries, the lady in front of us ordered a mini lemon tart but they gave her a mini fruit tart. La Madeline is a great place! They offer breakfast items, soup, the tomato basil , salads, cold and hot sandwiches, pasta, baked goods and more. You can place an order at the "to go" counter or stand in a cafeteria type line and order as go, some items are prepped on the spot, others are brought to your table. My personal favorite is the chicken salad on a croissant and the Sacher cake, it's so good! It's a cute little place with lovely decor, large seating area however if you go during lunch time it gets pretty crowded. Prices after decent and staff is usually quit friendly. I was pretty impressed with La Madeleine. I ordered through Uber Eats and my order was, a Fruit Tart, Scrambled Egg, Cheese and Bacon Croissant, Yogurt Parfait and a Quiche. It all arrived perfectly. A young man helped me with my order. I could tell he was brand new which was not the issue. I noticed that I had been overcharged by $10 for my soups. When I approached Margie L, I explained to her the issue. She looked at my as if I was crazy and could not comprehend that I was overcharged. I pointed to the menu and explained, the soups should have only been charged $1.29 for the substitute. She didn't seem to understand. She still looked as if she was confused. As she was fixing my bill and having to refund the difference, she then called her co-worker over to berate him in front of me. She said, "you overcharged her big time". He didn't mean to and I explained to him that it was a simple and honest mistake. Next time, when you want to coach your co-worker, do so in a professional manner and not in front it the client. If it is done in front of the client, use it as a coaching moment. I probably won't come back to this location. My sandwich was gross anyways. I ordered the chicken pesto. So I went with pesto pasta and y'all, when the plate came to the table, I was impressed with this powerful aromatic smell of pesto and roasted garlic coming out of it. It was very creamy, yet light and while the pesto sauce gave that strong herby saltiness, the tomato was a fabulous touch to give that sweetness in every bite - Only thing I wish I could make it different if it the pasta were to be in fettuccine style. I use to eat here like twice a week because it was affordable and the food is always delicious but they've raised the prices so much, the Cafe sampler use to be $10 and now it's $14 with tax and that's not even including a tip and the pesto pasta with chicken use to be $11 and now it's $16. Like that's an insane price increase. Its just not practical for me to eat here anymore. I'd rather go to an actual restaurant and be served for those prices instead of lunch line style with a tray and you have to get your own drinks and silverware.
