The absolute worst experience at a Schlotzskys ever. I used to love their sandwiches but my drive-through experience was less than stellar. I had to repeat myself three times what sandwich that I wanted she kept forgetting. OK roast beef for the 50th time when we got home surprise roast beef had morphed into ham and cheese. My wife went ballistic. We even checked the receipt before we left but the receipt was absolutely unreadable! And I'm not sure if it's because I was mad but the bread was tough. It was tasteless. My sandwich had too much mayonnaise. It was soggy. I asked for bacon and I could barely even find one piece. It was supposed to have avocado too that was maybe spread onto the bread lightly if that. read more

Been coming here for quite a while (love Schlotzsky's, faithful customer since they started in South Congress in the early '70s), but the last few visits getting to-go orders at the counter here have shown a downward service trend (wrong order, no napkins, no straws, other minor but irritating things). Today, with hardly anyone dining in, and we didn't see anyone in the drive -through, getting a single medium original to go took right at twenty minutes. I have a feeling they lost the order, the counter lady only "found" the bag when we asked, since we had to get back on the road. The last two times I have come here I have been disappointed. Almost $30 for two sandwiches and a bag of chips. The first time I got the half sandwich with a soup. I guess the half of bread I was served has been sitting there for a while because it was as hard as a rock. Went back today because it's been some time since I've had Schlotzsky's. I figured if I just order a whole sandwich, my bread will be fresh. Nope! Stale again! My husband said his was also stale. This store has been in this location for as long as I can remember. I stopped in for lunch for the first time in a very long time and ate inside. They may have newly remodeled, but this restaurant is definitely clean and welcoming! The bathroom was so clean and everything worked, which I wasn't expecting due to their years of being here. Overall, the ambiance was very good with great music and lighting. The colors of the building were appealing with light grey's and oranges. The customer service was extremely 5, the young man behind the counter, being very friendly and helpful. The food was alright at best. The bread on the sandwich I ordered had very dry bread with little flavor. The sabdwhich contained shredded lettus, which kept on falling out and making a mess. I love Schlotzsky's and this location in particular NEVER disappoints! My hubby and I were craving a good sandwich and decided to stop and get our favorite sandwich fix. Everything they have is so dang ole good that's it's extremely hard to make a decision, lol. Well, I decided on the wonderful Fiesta Chicken with extra green onions (I'm addicted to onions, yes) and a side of au jus for dipping, and my husband got the Chicken Bacon SmokeCheesy. Both were SCARY delicious and fresh as usual. Scary you ask? Yes because we almost went back in and got two more for the road for later, lol!! Now THAT'S good! I wouldn't recommend this location. I went through the drive thru. The cashier didn't scan my QR code for me to earn points. Instead he told me that he would give me a receipt for me to scan it in. I get home and get my children situated and then when I try to enter it, I cannot find the receipt number anywhere. There's no barcode and now I've lost out on my rewards. I called the store only to be told that they can only look so far. There's no way to pull up my receipt, and sorry. After spending damn near $30, all I got was a sorry. Been eating here as long as this place has been in business. In the 70's they actually served Canadian Moosehead beer and the drinking age was 19. (Another State not Texas). Too bad that's not an option any more. Damn nationwide rule changes. This location has been renovated in that last year and is really a nice fast food restaurant. They have added new menu items since the last time I was here and are rather tasty! No beer though only Fuze soda pop and tea products. (They never offered beer here). The French dip sandwich is really good as is the Sicilian or the Tuscan. However, I always go back to the Original. It's my die hard favorite and difficult to mess up unless you add red onions. The Louisiana Hot sauce in the silver packets adds a nice flavor to any bite of food. Recommend you eat this on every bite! Since I have frequented this business across multiple states including years, have fond memories, it's time to be honest. This location has the best service and consistently in food. Took an online order to be picked up at 7:45 the day before Thanksgiving. Received a confirmation of the order both through their app and via email. When I arrived at the location at the scheduled pickup time, the location was dark and shuttered. I didn't get my order and yet I was still charged for it. C'mon. I get closing early the day before a holiday. I don't begrudge that....but if you take and order, either own and fulfill it or let your client know it's not going to happen....especially when the order is placed approximately 9 hours before pickup. Don't charge the customer and then just not be there for pickup, refund in person or even have nobody available on the phone to get a refund. This is not being coordinated on a basic level and completely sours me to a brand I have been eating at since I was a kid when it opened on South Congress in Austin before it became the franchise it is now. I go to this Schlotzsky's location every few weeks, not just for the high quality of the food or the cleanliness, but for the manager Emma. She's an absolutely lovely human being. When you walk into the establishment, she initiates a completely different atmosphere than 99% of other restaurants. She's friendly, inviting, helpful, and such a pleasure to speak with every time I go to this location. There's actually a Schlotzsky's closer to my home and yet I drive the extra distance because of the environment Emma creates. Not only does her bubbly personality uplift customers, but it's VERY apparent that she emits that positive attitude onto all of her coworkers. Everyone employee seems genuinely happy to work there, which I've never encountered at another restaurant, and dedicate to Emma's radiance. One example of how Emma goes above & beyond to take care of guests is that one time I was telling her about my difficulties with ordering ahead, and she said, "Oh, just call the store before coming in! I'll happily take your order over the phone!" which was such a shock to me since most customer service employees would never offer such a thing so genuinely. I typically never feel the urge to review a restaurant, so please understand that I'm not sharing this information lightly. I visited on their opening day and it was awesome! Everyone was friendly and my turkey bacon sandwich with BBQ chips was delicious. The downside is that it is expensive compared to other places in the area. A medium sandwich, drink and chips is around 12 bucks. If you're looking for value, try somewhere else. read more

I love Sclotzksky's and swung by this location when I was done with an errand. It's your standard location with the standard menu. OMG! Where to begin! My Boss's wife used to work at Schlotzsky's in South Texas, and when we would go through there for lunch the owner would give us employee prices. They would customize the sandwiches for us too. This isn't the restaurant on Central Expressway, but that will give you a background for my review. There WAS NOTHING better! I haven't been to a Schlotzsky's in a long time. I had a craving for it the other night as we were at Costco looking at the big screen TV's that we couldn't afford of course. At least we could afford a Cinnabon, I thought. We walked in, the facility was clean and nice inside. The Hawaiian Brisket Sliders were pretty good actually, better than I expected. I love flavored tea and enjoyed their mango freshly brewed tea..score. My husband didn't like his original sandwich but that's probably because it's just not a great sandwich in my opinion. But I was happy to see some new options with the sliders. However, the service was very slow...my kids got their side of fruit 10 minutes after receiving their pizza. I honestly forgot about the fruit altogether because it took her so long and I was just happy for the peace and quiet as my 3 kids ate their pizza. But points for her for remembering. I had to remind the employee about our Cinnabon orders halfway through our meal (of course I remembered that) but it took her an additional several minutes to bring those out. Cinnabon "center of the roll" was just ok. Sadly I didn't want to waste my calories on it.
