THIS IS NOT A BALEADA! Like you can even Google it and it's nothing like this!

Y'all are really a Scam! If you don't know how to make a baleada then don't put it on your menu. Not only is super disrespectful to the culture that you're trying to exploit but a whole scam to whoever is buying it. The least you could've done is Google a pic of it and you guys would've seen that what you are trying to make is nothing like what you made.

Crappy plain Fried Chicken not Buffalo Chicken Wings

I took a late night chance at ordering good. I will take the blame for assuming a fisherman platter might even be close good. It was disgusting. But I ordered a 7 piece buffalo wing plate which was just 7 fired chicken wings were it's a tiny thimble full of buffalo sauce. It was barely enough to comer one wing! Why did I order buffalo wings if the weren't even covered in buffalo sauce. I also asked for extra blue cheese but it was the same thimble size container. Waste of money an effort.

Just ordered from this place for the first time and I have to say, I'll be coming back again. Out of the three other local pizza places I've tried, La Mamma's definitely has a more flavor. Update 10/6 - After this review, I've gone here few more times. Still been great until today. They overcharged me when I placed a delivery order. I called to question the charge, and they told me delivery is a charge. But that didn't explain why I was charged so much for two items. They said it was a mistake, and he'd refund it. I told them to cancel the whole order as I was never told there was a delivery charge. He tried to explain they have to charge and I understand there should be a charge, but I've order this before and I've never been charged the price I was being charged.

Deliciousness Found in Grittiness Is it really possible to find something tasty in a place that looks gritty? This place is one example. The first time I came here, it was with a group of guys that I know after a Friday night of drinking some beers. A guy was craving for more food, and we ended up getting a pizza with pineapple slices on top. It was not a bad pizza, but it was definitely a mediocre pizza. The flavor of the crust was a little bland. This place's specialty is actually not pizza, but cuisine from Spanish speaking countries in South America. I walked back in, and ordered a beef Chacarero, and a Empanada. A Chacarero is a sandwich originally from Chile, and it usually has meat, green beans and some sort of avocado sauce, somewhat similar to a Mexican Cemita. The bread of the Chacarero is actually excellent. It has a nice chewiness. The beef was juicy and had a pretty good flavor and was really tasty with the avocado sauce. The Chacarero is significantly better than the pizza they serve here. Their Empanadas are not bad. An Empanada is a fried dough pastry with meat inside. I got a Beef Empanada and it has a nice crispiness on the outside with a little greasiness, and the beef had a hot and nice chewiness on the inside. If you add a little spice, it can make the Empanada tastier. I would say that a couple of Empanadas are definitely better than the pizza they serve here. The interior definitely has this gritty look, and it gave me the feeling that I was not in Boston, but in the worst areas of the Bronx borough in New York. The people who run the place definitely have this demeanor that they do not like to get besmirched and one of the persons who work here has somewhat of a snide appearance. It is definitely one of the uncleanest places that serve food, but somehow they can keep the government inspectors happy. I guess to make your experience enjoyable, just order take away from this place and eat the food in the comfort of your own home. Overall, if you are looking for a great Chacarero or a decent Empanada, this is actually a great choice if you do not mind grittiness. I would not recommend this place to get pizza, as there are plenty of better pizza places in this neighborhood. Despite the look of this place, this place is one possible example to find some deliciousness in grittiness.

    Pupusa menu
    Astra G.

This review is mostly for the "and more" part of La Mamma Pizza and More. The "and more" part of La Mamma is Latin food specifically El Salvadorean pupusas and empanadas and possibly other stuff I haven't yet discovered. They have 3 types of pupusas as well as a ton of different types of empanadas, both meat and vegetable filled. Some empanadas include - corn, broccoli, spinach, mushroom, chicken, beef, etc. All are also filled with cheese. In fact, those little empanadas are PACKED with cheese. As for the pizza- it's run of the mill, a-ok pizza. They sell slices too. Now friends, this isn't the classiest of joints. This is a hole in the wall corner pizza place with 80s style booth seating, and all sorts of characters come in and out. I once saw a college kid projectile vomit from his seat and his poor friend helped clean it up. What's lovely about La Mamma is that it's open late, closes at 1-2am! Sometimes though the wait can be long especially if you're not ordering just a slice.

I've passed La Mamma up at least 100 times when looking for dinner nearby. The place is dingy on the outside and dingy on the inside. Their enormous menu spans at least three continents. After 30 seconds of looking around, all my self-preservation instincts were telling me to get the fuck out. Mamma must have seen the suspicious look on my face because she started firing options at me. In the middle of her assault, she hits me with "tenemos empanadas". WE HAVE EMPANADAS. I love empanadas! I eyed her separate empanada menu. Beef. Chicken. Pepperoni and cheese. Just cheese. Ham and cheese. And lots more options, each for 1.50. I went with the beef, chicken, and pepperoni empanadas. But she ignored me and gave me beef, pepperoni, and just cheese. Fine. They were fantastic! I thought they might be homemade, so I asked. And yes they are. She said I had to try their Chilean sandwich and I promised I would next time. In hindsight, I should have ordered 4 empanadas. So, if you're hungry get 4 instead. That's all I have on La Mamma for now. I'll update my review after I try the Chilean sandwich. UPDATE: I tried the beef chacarero sandwich. Its got a lot going for it: it is made with La Mamma's own bread, it has lots of steak, and interesting toppings like green beans, some kind of garlicky Chilean guacamole, tomatoes, and mayo. It tasted great but I'm not sure it's worth 9.50 since it's essentially a Chilean torta. But it's definitely worth trying for yourself.

Ricotta and pizza, together at last.

Now, while this place receives a 4.5 for overall quality, it's every other aspect of La Mamma that pushes it up to a perfect 5. To me, each pizza place should be unique in taste, which is why La Mamma has become my delivered pizza of choice in Allston. Any good pizza restaurant should be rated according to overall quality, variety of toppings, price, delivery hours, speed, and fee, and, seeing that I'm from the Midwest, friendly drivers! I just wish La Mamma offered rewards for loyal customers; I would certainly fit the bill. Overall Quality. It's simply melt-in-your-mouth good. The sauce, the cheese, and the crust all arrive fresh and hot. And, more importantly, the taste is consistent. When I order from La Mamma, I know exactly what's coming my way. They simply don't have "off" nights. Variety of Toppings. Since moving up to Boston, I've discovered my new love, and her name is Ricotta. I get ricotta on each and every pizza from La Mamma. One, they absolutely don't hold back (see my picture) and two, it's delicious plain or with meatballs or with egg plant. Each combination adds a new layer of satisfaction and utter mouth-stuffing bliss. Price. It's cheap. Like, really cheap for Boston. A large 16" cheese pizza starts at $9.00, and the ricotta is only $2.00 more. An $11.00 pizza that tastes this good? I'm still trying to figure out how they get away with it, but hey, I'm not complaining! Delivery Hours, Speed, and Fee. I wish La Mamma would extend their hours to 2AM, but I guess that's my incentive to stop drinking earlier and get my order in by 1AM! I've always ordered through Grubhub.com, and even during peak delivery hours on weekends, La Mamma always beats the delivery time estimate, usually between 30-40 minutes. And, delivery is FREE, so tip your driver extra generously. Friendly Drivers. Many people may not care as much about this or simply overlook it, but I do not. I've had drivers from other restaurants practically throw my order into my hands and sprint away, without any "thank you" or "have a good night." Not at La Mamma, though. Every driver has greeted me with a smile, thanked me for my order, and wished me a good night. Considering I am often one of their last deliveries (I'm keeping them working longer), I truly appreciate this. Other than the above, it should also be noted that drinking beer makes me crave pizza. Seeing that I heart beer (Sam Adams, you just get me), I've ordered from La Mamma at rather questionable hours at least 15 times. I like to think of eating pizza as my tried-and-true hangover cure. La Mamma, my head and stomach thank you for existing.

    Empanada
    Selene S.

I have to say, empanada here are just amazing. I decided to get two empanadas, a spinach and a cheese, around 9 pm. They started to make them (not just heating the already made ones) after I ordered. They said it will take about ten minutes, but It does not take that much time, well at least I felt so much quicker. Both empanadas were all freshly baked. The shell was perfect, perfect thickness, hard on the outside but soft on the inside. Fillings were satisfying as well. They were never stingy with the fillings. I only had two flavor tonight, but I am willing to try other flavors as well. To be honest, I was very close to rush out and get some more right after I finished these two.

They don't fill up the milkshakes

The dining room is fairly small with some bar seating available as well. It was clean and bright. It took about 7 mins for the server to come over and she lead with "are you ready to order?" I guess simple pleasantries are useless anyway. We knew our drinks and appetizers order but not what we wanted for pizza yet so we ordered those and told her we'd order pizzas when the apps and drinks came. She came back about 3 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order yet. Feeling pressured, we ordered thinking that perhaps they close soon (not the case). The bartender delivered our drinks a few minutes later and about 5 mins after that both the appetizers and pizza arrived at the same time. Besides the fact that our table wasn't large enough to accommodate all that food and drink, it was never our intention to eat our appetizers with our meal. The good news is that the food was hot, fresh and tasty. The potato bombs were excellent. Crispy home fry like potatoes and the peppers had a nice heat. I would love to try the popper version next time. The pizzas were good too, but be prepared for floppy and slightly under done base crust but a perfectly charred edge crust. I find many wood fired pizza to come this way but I did see other reviews mention this as a negative. The bill comes in a small ball jar with a delicious rice crispy treat. While the jar worked it must have made it hard to see that I dropped my credit card in it, so after the waitress walked by a few times I removed the card and made it visible on the table. When the tab came to sign I was not given a pen. I should have walked out and just let them charge me for just the tab but I cannot stiff waitstaff, even when it's poor service. My only hope is that it was the waitress's first day and she somehow figures out the typical cadence and procedure involved in waiting tables. Food was a solid 4 but service was a 2 so I landed on a 3. I would definitely go back hoping for a better server.

Parking is limited to about (6) 1 hour spots a block ahead of and in front of the door. Same posters, same menu. You may eat in, but unfortunately, alcohol is not provided here and you can't BYOB. And so, take out is a popular choice. Now for the real question. What does Shaina order at this venue after a decade? My personal favorite: Puttanesca with homemade fusilli. Why? Because despite living in a region of Greater Boston where Italian restaurants are fruitful, people don't serve Puttanesca! Literally can't find it in the four Italian restaurants near my south shore home. Only other place that I can order this same dish is Vinny's at Night in Somerville. Folks love their fra diavolo, but Puttanesca gives that same heat with the bonus of salty kalamata, capers, and a touch of anchovies melted in. And, guess what? Tasted the same as it had 13 years ago. Amazing! Don't get me wrong, they have many more offerings that I've been dying to try. There's pizza, garlic bread with and without cheese, mini arancini; they have sandwiches, too. They even have four (or maybe it was 5) options for risotto. And for proteins, there is calamari, shrimp, chicken, beef, and sausages. I just can't stop ordering this puttanesca dish and it fills me too much to have room for a variety order.

The prosciutto slices were perfectly salty, rich in fat, and smooth, wrapped around the refreshing sweetness of kumquats, the delicate creaminess of stracciatella cheese, the crunch and nutty aroma of pistachios, and topped with a smoky touch of sumac powder. It had a rich and distinct flavor profile while offering a gentle and comfortable taste. Spaghetti: The refreshing lemon and basil paired with the umami crab meat is a classic combination. Chili oil added a touch of spice and aroma, while pea tendrils provided a light herbal fragrance. The sauce was emulsified very smoothly, making it both rich and palatable, although the spaghetti itself didn't leave a particularly strong impression. Half Chicken Milanese: A large portion, perfect as a main course to share. The chicken cutlet was thick, fried to a fragrant perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Wrapped in lettuce and eaten with mayonnaise, it brought back memories of the fast food stalls outside my school when I was a child. This was my first time trying rhubarb stems. The tangy and refreshing taste cut through the richness, and the texture was like softer celery and firmer green bell peppers - quite interesting. Duck Bacon Pizza: The most highly rated pizza online, and it was truly delicious! The rich, savory flavor of the duck bacon, the succulent richness of the shimeji mushrooms, and the mellow sweetness of the caramelized onions, combined with the creamy cheese base, made it a calorie bomb, but I still felt it was the right choice. Unfortunately, the crust was a bit hard, making it difficult to cut with a knife. Cotechino Pizza: This was my first time trying a pizza with sweet potatoes, and I couldn't help but admire their innovation. The colors were vibrant, and the sweetness of the sweet potatoes paired with the smoky aroma of Cotechino sausage bits created a full yet harmonious flavor, evoking the feeling of being in the southern Italian countryside in early autumn, basking in the bright sunshine and the satisfaction of a bountiful harvest. The restaurant offered menus printed with "Happy Birthday," and the waiters provided professional cake-cutting service. Overall, a very comfortable experience.

I ordered a Slice of Cheese Pizza ($4.67 plus tax) and a Ziti Chicken Broccoli Alfredo Dinner ($13 plus tax) with garlic bread. I enjoyed the big slice of cheese pizza in the shop, which was heated up in the oven. The slice had a thin firm crust topped with tomato sauce and melted browned cheese, crunchy edge crust. I folded the big pizza slice and enjoyed it. The cheese had a slightly sour flavor, though. My Chicken Broccoli Penne was ready and bagged in about 20 minutes after ordering.
