Hot Cheetos Esquietes (Corn in a Cup)
    Kay Y.

OMGG this spot has esquites (corn in a cup)!! They have it in 2 sizes small or large and you have the option of getting it with Hot Cheetos! Their specialties menu is where it is at. I love that this spot is near my office and kudos to them for placing a window decal showing that they have corn in a cup! Super clever, it drew me in! Staff was very friendly and prompt as well.

The worker I am referring and part of the store.

My experience was terrible today. I have the same issue with a particular worker each time I come into the store. The first time my partner even mentioned she had an attitude was when we were selecting our flavor. This was our first time at this location. She was surprised I even went back a second time. The ice cream is good. The service was bad. I got my ice cream and my cup wasn't even filled. There was a good amount of room left on the bottom of the cup. I waited after paying to let her know and she made it again the same way this time it has less than before. She seemed aggravated that I even mentioned my cup not being filled. I paid about 5 bucks when I should have paid 2.50-3 bucks at the most. I waited again and I told her about the same issue and I asked for my money back because I didn't like the service and I felt like I was overcharged for the amount I re cream I got which she declined. Mind you I never left the store. What pissed me off too is she dragged other customers in to the situation by asking them to ask me if I had any questions in Spanish. I knew what she said and she assumed I didn't. One that was blatantly unprofessional and ignorant as hell. I asked if she had a manager or if I could speak to her manager. She ignored me for a good five minutes After that she turned around and spoke to a customer and then said to me annoyed "Wait so you can speak to my manager". After ignoring me and responding like that. I told her I'm good l don't want to listen to you now or wait and I will make a review. At this point, I felt she was beyond unprofessional. I will not be coming back. I always support La Michocanas and I will not be supporting this one again. I would have given 5 stars because of the other workers I have encountered were great and the ice cream is delicious. However, this particular worker knocked it down to three when I should have given a two. The ice cream quality and taste added a star. The ambiance is sad and dead.

Found this place on yelp, my wife and I try a lot of Michoacanas around la and this one's by far our favorite. The women working there were super attentive and sweet, greeted us as soon as we went in. Got a paleta, 1 scoop in a cup, crepe with Nutella, banana and strawberries, and a mangonada for $28 Everything was delicious, 10/10 you could taste how fresh everything was, everything was not too sweet, no te empalagas We didn't pay for parking as it was after 6pm, might be hard when a bit busy but it's la I also want to mention everything looked very clean inside and organized We sat outside and enjoyed our snacks the weather was perfect, the ladies said bye to us as we left, so sweet well definitely be coming back to try other treats

    way too much cueritos
    Madelie D.

I ordered tostilocos and the only thing I didn't want on it was pork ( cueritos). Why was it made with cueritos and plain chips? Where are the Tostitos? Who makes tostilocos with plain chips? I even tipped after I paid. I tried to eat it because I paid for it but I'm over it. Needless to say, I won't be going back they played me.

Best mangoneada around town. Glad I stopped by, it was made perfectly and was so fresh!

    Guarana fruit sorbet!
    Adrian C.

The guarana (I had to Google it) sorbet is a heavenly, well seeded creation and worth the visit (let alone the 52k other flavors) La Michoacana is a blessing to dairy based frozen desserts. It's pineapple-esque shreds of pulp are fun too! It's so sweet you may pass out, but enjoy the reprieve. "As a dietary supplement, Guarana is an effective energy booster. Guarana seeds are rich in caffeine and contain up to 4-8% caffeine, more than coffee beans, which contain approximately 1-2.5% caffeine. The seeds are also rich in tannins and xanthine alkaloids theophylline and theobromine.Dec 17, 2015" [who knew]

Amazing customer service, even though they were about to close they were so patient and nice and we did not feel rushed at all. The tosti esquite was to die for 100000/10 would most definitely recommend this place to everyone I know the paletas were so good . Especially when dipped in chocolate. The atmosphere was super cute I loved how decorated it was and of course the big sombrero in the corner saying "Viva Mexico" . I'm definitely coming back to this place !!!!

    Guava paleta
    Shannon Z.

This is definitely one of those hole in the wall kinda of place. It's one of those places where you walk by and didn't even notice it was an ice cream shop because that's what me and my sister did. The worker was very nice to us when we walked in; we got samples of the ice creams and I really liked the watermelon ice cream that I sampled (even though it was little sweeter than what I'm used to). Even though I really liked the watermelon ice cream, I went for the guava paleta and my sister went for 2 scoops of ice cream of mango and mangonada. The guava paleta was yummy; it had all the flavors in the guava and it definitely looked like it was made from real guava with all the seeds in there. The seeds were the annoying part of it but it also made the paleta the real thing. The mango ice cream was good but definitely, like the watermelon one I sampled, it was on the sweeter side. The mangonada had too much spice to it to my taste. Overall, I think this place exceeded my standards. The prices were fair (2 scoops of ice cream was $3.75 and paleta was $2.25) and it was cheaper than other places such as Mateo's which we were almost gonna go to. I think that if you live around the USC area, you should definitely check this place out on a hot sunny day.

    Small Exquite w/Hot cheetos

The ezquite with chetos super delicious the. The service was excellent the cashier was super nice and its clean and cozy.

Mango on top and mangonada on the bottom
    Michelle Z.

I just finished up dinner nearby and was craving some ice cream. My sister wanted to go to Mateo's, but this place was literally 1 min away from dinner. We parked on the street and initially walked past it because it was really inconspicuous. It is right next to some undergarments store. When we walked in, we were greeted by the worker, who offered to give us samples to try if the ice cream. I got the mangonada ice cream scoop and a mango ice cream scoop, because the mangonada itself tasted a bit too seasoned. Two scoops costed 3.75, which is cheaper than Mateo's. My sister got a guava paleta, which costs 2.25. The ice cream tasted really good, although the mango did taste a little too sweet. But that was complimented by the spicy taste of the mangonada. The guava paleta tasted really fresh, but there did seem to have a lot of seeds in it. Overall, I think this place is really great, especially since it is so close to USC and it is pretty cheap.

Then, an eternity ago, it closed and we were sad. Then Long Beach Creamery opened and we weren't that sad for that long, but still, I absolutely still thought about them every once in a while, sad that they'd left. Then, a much closer eternity ago (about a year ago - I've been super burned-out and not finishing my reviews), I was on my way from an event back to the blue line and walked by and noticed that they had, in fact, just moved. So obviously we had to get some. Verdict - yes, it absolutely was as good as I remembered. I wouldn't go back to DTLA just for ice cream, Long Beach Creamery being walking distance and wonderful, but I would absolutely stop here if I were back in DTLA and wanted ice cream. It's a bit pricey, but all craft ice cream is going to be, and it is definitely craft. And you can save a lot by getting a 3-scoop, which is very much enough to share for two people, if not slightly too much.

My boyfriend tried the vanilla soft serve with Nutella filled Aboong. The warm fish against the cold ice cream created a great mix of textures and flavours, but once the fish is gone the ice cream itself is just ok. The taiyaki, in my humble opinion, are the winners. The Oreo taiyaki was absolutely delicious! It came out super fresh, they filled both the body AND tail with Oreo so every bite had a great ratio of chewy fish and filling. This location always fills their Taiyaki evenly which I appreciate, it's much better than the ones I've tried in Sawtelle. It's really affordable too, so definitely come try it.
