La Moon is a must do--our first visit was nothing short of outstanding! From the moment we walked in, the authentic music set the perfect dreamy dinner vibe, transporting us into a relaxed, joyful evening. Food item or ordered: sautéed shrimp with a spicy cream, garlic. Wings that had an amazing chili glaze over them. Gyoza (I did not enjoy this dish) These were the starters, and the shrimp was my favorite.! Fast-forward to our main selections!! We ordered the drunken noodles which were 10 out of 10 as well as the blackened shrimp. It was served with a spicy Sriracha also a 10 out of 10.! The drinks gave main character. They have lots of signature drinks that are very light and refreshing. You wouldn't believe that alcohol was in them. If you're in the Virginia -Highlands area, please stop by and check them out! I server was amazing, and all of the food came out fresh and hot. They also have complementary valet parking!

They offer complimentary valet in the back, which is always a plus. The ambiance was beautiful, with Asian-inspired artwork that gave the space a really nice vibe. Service could've been a little better--we didn't receive small plates or utensils at first and had to ask. I'm thinking it may have just been the timing since other tables were set. Now let's talk about the food... it was AMAZING. Everything was packed with flavor. For small plates, we ordered the calamari, gyoza, dumplings, garlic green beans, and fried tofu. Ozzie's favorite was the gyoza, and mine was the dumplings. The portions were great for the price. Honestly, everything was so good we wanted to order more. For entrées, we had the Drunken Man Lo Mein and Shaken Beef. Both were flavorful, but I preferred the Lo Mein because of the portion size and temperature. The Shaken Beef had more veggies than beef. The only downside was that the food wasn't served piping hot--if it had been, it would've taken the experience to the next level.

Everything tasted amazing! The owner was super awesome and the servers were great. We ate on the patio which was nice. The inside of the restaurant is classy, clean and inviting. I'll come back to try more foods. The fish dish was the star of the show!

We came as a party of 6 on a Monday night and it was busy! Took a 20 minute wait but you already know it's popular We ordered 2 appetizers and 4 mains with drinks as well. And were welcomed with extremely warm attitude by our servers and the owners. The ambiance is definitely a bit louder but everything was as perfect as it could. The owners gave us so much attention and made sure we were treated well. Number one will recommend for a dinner! Will come back again

Came here with a friend for dinner tonight! I valet parked in the back and walked up the stairs, through the restaurant to the host stand, and gave the hostess my friend's name for our reservation. Just a few minutes after being seated, and given water, my friend found me at our table by the open window, and we caught up on life! The ambiance is very trendy, intimate, and stylish. We loved our table because we had a comfortable breeze gently blowing in and nice natural sunlight. Funny enough, my friend and I had the same top 3 entrée choices we were considering, so we decided to each pick one different option and share. I chose the shaken beef. It was very flavorful and delicious! While most of the pieces were tender and soft, some were pretty chewy. My friend got the drunken man lo mein. It was also very tasty, with a very subtle, enjoyable spice kick thanks to the peppers. Service was great! Our waitress was very kind and attentive, checking on us and making sure we didn't need anything, without rushing or making us feel overwhelmed. We were very comfortable here! My only reason for a less than 5 star review is simply because of price. While the portions were perfect for us girls, the price for what you're getting is very high. I look forward to coming back to try more delicious dishes. I plan to bring my fiancé next time since he wasn't able to make it tonight, but I already know that with him, we are going to have to share at least 4 or 5 dishes... and it won't be cheap!

Loved every bite we had! Started with the Gyoza and green beans. Wow. A whole party in my mouth! For my entree I had the Drunken Lo Mein. Just enough spice to satisfy my tastebuds. My parents both had the salmon with fried rice. They enjoyed very much too. Kendall took great care of us. I can't wait to go back! I managed to find street parking - which I'm still shocked about. But there's valet behind the building if you're not so lucky. The ambiance was super cute too. We sat by the opened windows in the front and because the weather was just perfect today, the breeze coming in was amazing.

Wandered in on a Monday night and were immediately seated as a group of 2. The interior of this place is beautiful. Moody, red lighting with plush booths and pillows. Service was friendly and attentive. She took our order quickly and came to check on us at all the right times. Ordered the dumplings, seafood hot pot, and pad thai. The dumplings were nice and in a tasty sweet soy sauce. The pad thai had great flavor and a variety of textures. It also had a healthy serving of shrimp and chicken. The seafood hot pot was my favorite by far! The soup was flavorful with a great balance of sour and spicy. I also loved the mushrooms and soft squid rings. My only critique is that the disposable chopsticks and plastic soup spoons don't fit the more upscale atmosphere.

Wowowow-- there's SO much to like about La Moon. First of all, I'd describe it as the PERFECT date-night spot. Quaint and intimate setting, paired with vibrancy and energy that makes it sexy NOT tired. The food was to die for. The portions are also enough, to share, but necessitate ordering a few in my opinion. It's the perfect opportunity to try many of their MUST-TRY dishes... such as... - Gyozas (worth it) - Dumplings (could pass) - Mor-Din (unreal glass noodle, shrimp pork belly pot) - Kao-Mok (delish! Steak dish YUM) - Pad Thai Chicken & Shrimp (worth it, despite its mainstreamness!) See pics of the above attached. They were all so worth it, and the perfect amount of food for a two-person date-night

La Moon has been on my radar for a little while. The way the restaurant is set up they have seating out front and windows in the front of the restaurant that open up to the restaurant feels inside/outside very cool! Food, let's talk about it. I tried that the cheese roll, Mussels, fried rice with salmon and the drunken lo mein. It was amazing!! What stole the show to me was the drunken lo mein and the mussel. The mussels were HUGE and the sauce it came it was out of this word, a little salty but nonetheless amazing. Such a great restaurant highly recommend. You're welcome! Also S/O to my sever Trent! Service was amazing!!

Was very excited to try La moon but ended up being a bit disappointed by the food. The ambiance is absolutely gorgeous for the small space and the service was also great, but unfortunately I felt like the food was lacking flavor. We came for a birthday dinner and had a table for 6 of us. I got to try dumplings, one of their noodle dishes, and I ordered the shaking beef for myself. Unfortunately I felt like all of the food was missing flavor that I'm used to with Vietnamese and Thai food. The meat was cooked super well and was tender, but there just wasn't any flavor. I'm not sure if I'll be back at La moon since there are soooo many options in the Virginia highland area.

The food and service was perfect. Yum yummy. We will definitely be back for more. Cute little place. The drinks were perfect and so was the food.

    Michael B.

Food was way better than we expected. More of an authentic taste . Serving size was decent but not big. Service was fast and friendly. Sit up front to people watch. I will be going back. Great place for date night. Not sure if they take Apple Pay.

    Lemongrass Tofu
    Rebecca R.

Wow! Color me impressed. My server was friendly and struck the perfect balance between attentive and leaving me alone lol. The place is nicely decorated and dimly lit with upbeat music. I ordered the green beans and I was immediately a fan. They were perfectly cooked and nice and garlicky with some crunchy bits on top. No limp veggies to be found. For my main, I ordered the lemongrass tofu. This was different from others that I've had, but definitely not in a bad way. Usually lg tofu is more of a sautéed tofu and veg with a runnier sauce. This tofu was so crispy!! Like it had a thick crust that perfectly clung to the tofu cubes. The flavors were punchy! You need the contrast of the dull sticky rice in between bites. Honestly I loved it though. Lemongrass comes through as well as that salty, soy type taste. I will absolutely be back.

I wasn't expecting much from this place but it was the perfect gem. I wasn't expecting much able to make a last minute reservation online and we were seated immediately. The waiter was professional and so friendly--he literally knew every little thing about each dish. He provided some great recommendations and we decided to order the lobster crawfish wontons, the crispy beef, the drunken noodle with scallops and lobster tail, and the sticky ribs. I easily could have eaten all the wontons myself and the drunken noodles came large lobster tails and plenty of scallops. I ate these so fast that I forgot to take a picture. The crispy beef was a little bit on the sweeter side but it was the perfect amount of crunch and sauce that paired well with the vegetables and jasmine rice. I also really enjoyed the ribs--they were very tender and flavorful. It came with collard greens which I didn't enjoy as much but the other dishes were so good and I ate so much that I didn't mind. I also saw plenty of couples celebrating milestones together so it definitely makes for a cute night out if you're in the area looking to have a nice dinner with your partner. I ordered the Shandong braised chicken, a dish presented with its protein resting atop a glossy sauce and a generous scattering... ten or more pieces of accompanying dough. In theory, this bread should serve as both sponge and companion, absorbing the depth of the braise and rounding the dish into comfort. In practice, it was profoundly compromised. The dough was unmistakably moldy, visibly, undeniably so. This alone is alarming in any dining establishment; it signals a breakdown not just in execution, but in fundamental kitchen vigilance. More troubling than the oversight itself was the response. When the issue was brought to the attention of the waiter, the reaction suggested familiarity rather than concern as though such an occurrence fell within the realm of the expected. There was no urgency, no visible embarrassment, no effort to meaningfully rectify the moment. The tone felt faintly dismissive. The effect on the room was immediate: the couple seated ahead of us, having witnessed the exchange, opted against ordering an entrée at all. That, in itself, speaks volumes. There were, however, redeeming elements. The spicy beef was well-prepared, delivering heat with balance rather than bravado. The diced potatoes were excellent, crisp at the edges, tender within, and seasoned with confidence. These dishes hinted at a kitchen capable of competence, even finesse, when fundamentals align. The atmosphere added an unexpected layer. Spa music drifted through the dining room an odd choice for a meal that aims to be bold and hearty, creating a tonal dissonance that never quite resolved. Service hovered in the realm of "acceptable," buoyed largely by polite refrains of "yes sir" and "no ma'am," though these formalities felt more like compensation for a lack of true attentiveness than genuine hospitality. I would not go so far as to discourage anyone from dining here. There is promise, and there are flashes of real quality. But I would offer this advice plainly and without drama: inspect your food carefully. Mold has no place on the plate, and until that reality is treated with the seriousness it demands, the experience remains compromised no matter how good the potatoes may be.

What initially brought me in was Atlanta Burger Week, and I ordered their featured burger to take advantage of the special. While the burger was good, the real star of the meal was the smoked barbecue fried rice with brisket. It was absolutely fantastic. It is not often that a side dish completely steals the show, but this one certainly did. The atmosphere was welcoming, the food arrived promptly, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. It is always exciting to discover a restaurant that delivers something a little different, and Sweet Auburn BBQ does exactly that by blending flavors and cuisines in a way that feels both creative and comforting. AMBIANCE The experience got off to a rough start with parking. They validate parking at a local parking structure or garage but the directions on the placard outside the establishment were unclear.... with an arrow to the back. The back of what? As newcomers to the restaurant and the area, the parking structure and restaurant that was point of refernece was not helpful. There wasn't even an address or street name to go by. We ended up circling behind nearby buildings and down another street before finally finding the parking structure. It felt unnecessarily confusing and set a slightly frustrating tone before we even walked in. Once inside, things improved. We were seated right away in a booth on the right side of the dining room. The space had a stylish, eclectic feel....interesting decor with a lively, buzzy energy. Not overly loud, but definitely active for a weekday night. SERVICE Service was efficient and welcoming through though. Our waitress quickly brought water and drinks and gave us time to look over the menu. The concept of Asian fusion twist meets Southern BBQ is intriguing, but as first-timers, it took some effort to picture how the flavors would come together. We found ourselves cross-referencing Yelp photos for awhile just to get a better sense of what to expect. FOOD We decided to get started with the brisket egg rolls, one of their most popular items. They arrived in about 10-15 minutes and were a solid opener...found them crispy, flavorful, and a creative twist on the usual pork ones. For mains, we ordered the BBQ plate with fries and collards, along with the smoked chicken curry. The BBQ plate was fine...nothing really amazing and pretty tiny portions for what you're paying for. The flavors were good, but not justified for the premium. The chicken curry was fine. For $17.50, I definitely expected more pulled pork that people were raving about....the dish was more than 1/2 rice and potatoes. The standout, by far, was the brisket egg roll...easily the highlight of the meal and better than we anticipated given the fusion concept. Overall, it felt like you're paying a bit more for the concept and presentation than the actual quantity. Wouldn't come back again.
