La More Cafe is an intimate version of 85 C Bakery with delectable breads, pasta, salads, sandwiches, cake and macarons. Gluttony expedition: -ham and cheese bread = B minus. It's quite filling and cheesy and ham-y. -Masago bread, I couldn't get enough of this. I took the last piece that was displayed in the glass. They run out of these quick by noon time! -$1.99 milk tea, they use up brown sugar. It's simple and very delightful. Free milk with purchase of any 5 pastries. I didn't take this opportunity because I didn't plan on carb-loading today with these confectionery. I inadvertently discovered this small spot from just driving around the Warm Spring plaza. It's pretty tucked in on your right when entered into the area. The cafe itself is small, probably only seats up to 8 ppl. It's very modern, secluded, and clean. The highlight of this wondrous place that has done some good deeds: I have witnessed the owner giving out fresh breads to a homeless elder that was standing outside. He gave away enough bread to last him almost a week... super nice and generous of him giving away his own food to him. Humble homeless guy walked away with a smile on his face... this made my Sunday morning realizing there are good people out there. I will greatly support this business! Next week more masago bread will come in, they ran out so I gotta wait til then. Tuna bun was good, it was peppery with like a sweet mayo on the top center and nice chunks of crunchy onions with each bite. The Mango Walnut sounds great but the flavor had no kick. It was the Danish Twist that made up for it, though it is definitely on the sweet side. I love when hardcore Asian bakeries play top 40, this song had a bridge so it sounded like this classy building had ghetto rap music when I walked in but it was just a bridge in the song lol. I heard that this bakery shop have yummy breads. So I gave it a try. After my bf and I had lunch around 1pm, we went to the shop, I got surprised the shop has different type of breads. Because the past 2 times, I came to this bakery shop, the breads are always sold out early and left few options. I am glad this time I was able to try their other type of breads. So we had egg tarts, green tea red bean mochi bun, and pork sung bun. They are all taste good and light. The price may not be cheaper, and could be comparable like other famous bakery shop. But I still think that their baking are competent and fresh. Other than that, they sell cakes and macaroons. The parking spot might be a little headache especially during lunch rush. read more

Although this bakery shop is small, it has a space for 2 tables and seats. It carries different kinds of bread, either salty or sweet. Ah, how I love being in the Easy Bay. There's no shortage of Asian Bakery's from the larger chains to the mom and pop shops. This one in particular is a cute little shop that has its charms! The selection is a bit smaller than some other chains, about half as much. And they tend to run out, but you don't have to worry about any day-old goods being passed off as Fresh here. They also have a special going on for the past few months that for every 5 pastries you buy you get a Free Milk Tea. The Milk Tea is so-so, but hey, it's free! They keep selling out of the Mochi Bread EVERY time I go there, though I'm limited to the afternoons, so that's more my fault. But everything else I tried there is up to par with the rest of them! I like their sandwiches here better than other Asian Bakeries however, so I'll probably come back for those! read more

I might be being harsh, but with the plethora of Asian bakeries in the Bay Area, the competition is tough. La More definitely has its personal quips and charms. Although the place itself is quite small, there is a good variety of bread. There's the usual savory and sweet bread that you'll find in most Asian bakeries, but the two things that stood out the most to me were the mochi bread and the masago bread. The mochi bread was delish, I'll give them that. Soft on the outside and chewy in the middle. The masago bread, however, was disappointing. True, it is special in that it has masago across the top, but the inside tasted like sweet mayo, and the bread was a bit tough. It's a bread that I'll try once to say I've tried it, but I won't be going back for more. Among the other breads we tried were the chocolate bread, tapioca bread, and a savory bread. They were tasty in their own right, but I found that the bread was a bit tougher than I'm used to having at Asian bakeries. Maybe I'm just spoiled. They are (or were at the time of my visit) running a promo where you get a free milk tea or coffee with a purchase of any 5 breads. Not a spectacular deal (especially since their milk tea is a bit bland), but free is free! read more

I called for pre-order a customized cake but the person who pick up the phone just told me to hold first since he need to serve in-store customers who are waiting to pay. Ok, I wait, but he just put me aside for more then 5 mins!! And then I heard all the transaction activities has finished and he start to chatting with someone else's! Went there to try out the set lunch with my son today - because I really miss the similar offers in Taiwan - entree, drink, and dessert... in Taiwan, I think they also offer salad or appetizers... but hey, we are not there so I can not complain. Anyway, my son ordered the roast beef sandwich set lunch and I had the Clam Chowder Bread Bowl. Sandwich - It came with two sandwiches, not too small. I can not tell you if they are good, because my boy finished it in no time. He even ate the veggies that dropped onto his plate - which NEVER happens. The sandwiches must be good. Soup Bread Bowl - could be bigger, but I understand it is lunch and that I tend to be a big eater. I think I need a big more clam, but the soup and the bread tasted really good. The drink - we chose the milk tea - I think they used brown sugar because it is Yummy! Dessert - a small slice of cake with chocolate syrup drizzled on top. It is not really sweet but the texture was very nice and delicate. We also bought some buns. We have not been buying bread for a while since I started to make my own bread, but I couldn't resist when I saw the "roti bun". I visited this new Asian bakery last weekend! I had heard it opened recently and was rumored to be delicious. The overall setup is pretty typical of most Asian bakeries. There is a selection of buns for you to choose from, and a refrigerated section contains THE MOST BEAUTIFUL desserts I've ever seen. I only tried out the buns during this visit to take advantage of their Buy 5, Get 1 drink free (milk tea or coffee). I had heard that this bakery uses milk instead of water in its recipes. Whatever the case, it's true that the buns are on the "rich" side of the spectrum. Buns cost $2.00-2.50 each and were generally quite large. Flavors were really unique and quite delicious! And the buns themselves were beautifully made. The combination of the rich flavor and large size means that it's a good value, however it's just "too much" for consuming in one setting. The free coffee that came with the buns was pretty bad, but I can't fault them for it given it was free. The flavors I tried: (see posted pic) Mochi bun: Basically a pineapple bun but with some mochi filling! Not too sweet Green tea + cranberry: Really juicy cranberries helped make it not too dry Coffee & brown sugar: Strong coffee aroma, although I'm not a huge fan of the brown sugar Taro & pumpkin seed: So cute! It's really rich, though Cranberry + almond: Very buttery and rich The real question on everyone's mind is how La More Cafe compares to the Sogo Bakery located in Marina in the same plaza. I think the two bakeries serve two different purposes. For "basics" for everyday breakfast, I'll probably still stick with Sogo Bakery". However, La More Cafe's baked goods are more luxurious (presentation, flavor selection, ingredients), so it's an obvious choice when treating some out-of-town relatives to unique Asian-style baked goods! I'll also definitely be back to try out some of their desserts the next time we have a celebration. read more

I am new to Fremont and was trying to locate a bakery to order my son's Minecraft themed birthday cake. Came across this bakery and went ahead with the order. They charged $80 for a 6" round cake. But it's seriously one of the best chocolate cakes I have ever tasted. It was spongy, perfectly sweetened and super delicious. Was also very happy with the final result. Ordering it was a little difficult as the lady in the counter didn't understand English, but I communicated through emails with the chef and they did an excellent job. A man was just leaving and the Woman had turned and walked in the back and was working. I stood there well over 5 min peeking around at her for help and not until I shouted out for help please did she come. She never said a single word to me this entire transaction. I am only Engl speaking. I told her I wanted to order a cake, did they have any book or pics? She turned behind her, used an ipad and began rolling cake gallery, when I asked to stop on one to talk about it she ignored me. I struggled talking and no response at all, not even a gesture of no Engl on her part. Finally Carlos the baker pops out and she runs off. Carlos was very pleasant, took the order basically but I didn't feel confident on what outcome would be. Not 1 cake for sale in case, only Asian wrapped buns. With nothing to buy to try, I saw 1 pc of cheesecake, he sold me one from the back. Left. The cheesecake tasted old, blueberries were rubbery, cheese top was yellowed and old, tried the crust and lower part, I found zero flavor. 8" round was to run $45, pc of cheesecake $6. I imagine maybe the menu for lunch still posted ( he said they no longer serve), the case of cakes ( no longer) are a direct hit of Covid? Seems they are not fully operational. There are a lot of bakeries. Customer service is where you make your difference. One bad employee can break you . She is not having 1 bad day, my neighbor later said her and her friends all used them before and Carlos said he cannot find anyone to replace her. Wow. The garlic toasts are pretty good but the danish I find the cream too gelatinous in texture and I prefer a more creamy texture. What they bake here never disappoints. I first found this place when I was on the hunt for a cup of coffee. Which is actually why I give them one less star, don't buy the coffee. But that is the only negative there. The baked goods are amazing! I can never seem to decide on which one to choose so I always end up with 5-7 different baked goods. They have this half moon cake with pork foo on top. At first I was questioning it like, "why would you put a salty dried shredder pork product on top of what looks a cake log?" For the price it was worth a shot. Man was I glad I tried it. The savory, salty, crunchy pork was a perfect topping for the super soft, moist, almost creamy cake. I have also tried about 10 other baked goods here and all of it has been amazingly good. Around noon is when most of their baked goods are pouring out of the oven. I am seriously a loyal customer for LAMORE. I used to go twice per week and buy at least 6 breads each time. I always don't understand why the cashier are angry all the time (the one with short hair and not too tall girl). I need to keep thinking if I have done something wrong to make her mad. But later, I found out, she is mad to anyone anytime ....... I wish there are someone else can be cashier who have a normal welcoming smile..... Since there are not much option I have in this area, I still have to come even the service is horrible...:( But from few weeks ago, the bread became smaller and smaller. With $2.5 to $2.95 high price level , the bread should not be so SMALL!!! It is really PRICEY! It used to be a fair good size to justify the $2.5-$.3 price level. I started coming here before the grand opening and it still has the same fresh, amazing taste! I come here almost every weekend, eat their lunch specials (PASTA IS SO DA BOMB), and stock up on bakery delights to go. I do admit that their price is more than other Fremont bakeries, but their taste is irreplaceable! Totally worth it. You can taste how fresh the ingredients are and you don't get that "slum" feeling. And since it is in the Marina plaza, the Taiwanese area of Fremont, the price is reasonable. The bakery is so clean and everyone working there is extremely nice. You can get spaghetti, roast beef sandwich, turkey sandwich or clam chowder. I got the turkey sandwich which was still a good size for $5.50 and it is pretty much a sandwich you can make yourself. The sauce was a bit heavy so I would ask for less of that. What I liked about the sandwich was the thick bread. It had some nuts which added some texture and substance to the sandwich. If it was only a regular toast of bread, I would definitely still be hungry. Nothing special or crazy about this sammie so meh. My friends got the spaghetti combo which comes with coffee, the entree and two small pastry puffs for less than ten bucks. I was warned to not get the clam chowder because the bowl is friggin tiny. Don't underestimate this place just because it's small and somewhat hidden in terms of location! It's more like a gem of luscious treats! It makes me sad this bakery doesn't have a big flow of customers; because it really should! Comparing to all the mainstream asian bakeries (85 degrees, kee wah, paris baguette, sheng kee, SOGO), I would say their pastries are really delicious and fresher and yummier than at least SOGO/Sheng kee/Kee Wah/and similar with 85/Paris. However, 85 and Paris's goods taste somewhat manufactured (maybe it's just me), while La More's has a fresh buttermilk and really delectable pastry taste. I've tried pork sung buns from all the listed above bakeries, but La More's tastes the best! Their free HK milk tea deal for buying 5 pastries is really yummy and captures the authentic HK taste. Their fresh loaves of bread sitting at the top of the cases are also better than many bakeries I've tried. It doesn't even need condiments. I also really like the chocolate chip pastry. I didn't know that this bakery opened up in the Marina Food plaza, and I decided to drop by to buy some macarons for my friend. The shop itself was small but quaint, and had simplistic and nice decor. There was a good selection of macaron flavors, and because I ordered six they were put into a cute little package. Since it was a gift, I was pretty happy with that. Aside from the macarons, I grabbed the taro and strawberry cream buns to try out. Overall, the flavors were lukewarm. I was expecting the bread of the taro bun to be soft and sweet like the one you get at 85 Degree Bakery, but it was kind of browned on the edges and just tasted like plain bread. There wasn't much filling for it either, so I was disappointed with that. The strawberry cream bun satisfied my sweet cravings pretty well though, so I would recommend getting that. The next time I come to this plaza, I'll try out the macarons, desserts, and other buns! read more

The milk tea isn't REALLY good, but it's free so what can you say? It's more like Quickly's quality. Anyway, their bread isn't bad. Most items are good, but they don't have that warm, soft touch and taste that I've become accustomed to. They have some creative bread, and others you can find elsewhere. Their mochi bread is good, and I really like the tapioca bread (only 99 cents!). I was really excited to try the masago bread after hearing so many good things, but it fell short of expectations. They have cakes and macaroons also, which are a little pricey. I haven't tried them. If I'm in the area and I can get some free milk tea with bread, then I would definitely come here again. First time customer to this bakery. Came around 10:30 and the none of the breads were bagged and ready to be selected. They were still sitting on the baking rack. Macaroons were no where to be found either. My biggest problem with this place was the service by the cashier lady. She asked me what I wanted. I told her this was my first time here and I don't know what you have. To which she just responded, "okay??" Since all the breads were unlabeled and out of sight, I didn't know what was available. I just ended up asking her what they generally sell here and bought a few without any visuals. The breads and cake tasted fine, nothing too special.
