The pod has seen better days and could use some TLC to look a little bit nicer. Service at this car was friendly and quick. Prices seem in line with going rates these days. We arrived around 11:30 and there were a few people waiting. We made our order and the woman at the counter was friendly. The truck itself looked clean with no observable issues. My daughters and I walked around and looked at the other food trucks in the pod (great selections that I'm interested in trying). The food seemed to take a while (20 min) to come out with minimal people ordering. We got our food and headed home. We ordered the asada burrito and carnitas quesadilla. 3.5 Stars. Before you get excited about the lower than average price of a breakfast burrito know that the size is also smaller than what you normally get at a Mexican food cart. Overall, it was decent. The eggs were omelette-like rather than scrambled. The white cheese was nice and gooey, while the potatoes were neither hashbrowns or cubed. A nice surprise were the complementary chips and a delicious whole jalapeño pepper. The sauce was the normal boring red and green. Delicious! I'm all about classic street tacos; flavorful, grilled, marinated meat topped with chopped onion, cilantro and a big squeeze of lime on homemade corn tortillas. I chose the pork carnitas which they grilled so the taco arrives piping hot, tender and juicy, with those much coveted crispy bits. Totally legit. Burritos so good, it's even good when you're sober. High strung off my coffee next door at Tōv's bus cafe, I contemplated on whether I was hungry since coffee tends to suppress my appetite. I went with my gut feeling that it'd be best to eat anyway, and oooh I'm so thankful for my gut for nudging me to this taco stand. Seeing people eat their food was itself already promising as their faces were filled with delight. I saw this man chowing down on a burrito and knew I needed to get one of those. I got the traditional burrito with asada as my choice of meat, priced reasonably at $6-7ish. It was a good size, and most importantly, TASTY. I didn't even need to be hungry to want to keep eating. The best of both worlds for a vegetarian and a meat eater in one burrito. Well, not really, but you throw a chile relleno stuffed with Mexican cheese and steak in one tortilla with beans and guacamole and you have some magic there. That would be their signature burrito. The Morenita. Now I'm a frequent visitor to their immediate neighbor Tov Coffee (i.e. the big, red, double decker bus) and I have eaten at Fried Egg I'm in Love but I hadn't had the Mexican food at La Morenita. I'm glad to say that I've now had one of their honkin' huge burritos and they are inexpensive and damn filling, also damn tasty. The salsas were pretty good and not overly spicy in both red and green and even with a huge burrito lurking in my basket, there was also a side of chips with pico de gallo on them. I washed it down with some mango necter and I needed a rather lengthy walk afterwards. The steak was seasoned well and the chile had some charred flavor to it. The guacamole was fresh and the beans were creamy. It came together very well. I can only imagine how the rest of the menu is. They don't have a huge selection on meat choices, just the standard ones. No lengua or unusual meats that some other places will do but after this burrito, I think I'll have to try some more offerings. Friendly service and the food wasn't a long wait. What's one food that you can eat constantly and never get tired of? Tacos! Well maybe you get tired of them, but I can eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a weeks and still love them. With that being said, La Morenita is my new favorite food truck on the east side. Always super friendly, fast service! They have a large selection of burritos and tacos. The first time I came I had 3 tacos. The shredded beef, grilled steak, and grilled chicken taco. Each were $1.75 ($5.25 for all) Three was plenty to fill me up but if you are feeling a little hungrier you can still get lots of tacos for under 10 bucks. All three were super flavorful and came with cilantro, lime, and guac. My favorite was the shredded beef. Perfect little hand tacos! (Came with a side of chips) The second time I came for a breakfast burrito. Since the shredded beef taco was my favorite I decided to go for the machaca and egg burrito $5.50. Beef, eggs, potatoes, peppers, onions and beans (comes with cheese but I asked for none). Most of the time when you get a breakfast burrito it is mostly potatoes and very little meat. Not here! Out came a massive and I mean massive burrito that was 90% beef and 10% fillers. It was steaming hot and delicious. Flavorful and warmed my sole. If it wasn't pouring rain right now, I would be on my way to get some lunch tacos but I can't seem to pull myself away from my bed at this time. read more

The burrito is more of a flat style - as in - it's not particularly stuffed with meat, etc. I didn't leave hungry but I've also had more stuffed burritos with more generous meat portions. I did however enjoy the crispier tortilla style as it made it sort of a cross between a burrito and a flat pressed wrap.
