    Middle of road breakfast burrito.
    Andrew A.

3.5 Stars. Before you get excited about the lower than average price of a breakfast burrito know that the size is also smaller than what you normally get at a Mexican food cart. Overall, it was decent. The eggs were omelette-like rather than scrambled. The white cheese was nice and gooey, while the potatoes were neither hashbrowns or cubed. A nice surprise were the complementary chips and a delicious whole jalapeño pepper. The sauce was the normal boring red and green. The guy was very nice and parking is doable depending on the time of day. They seem to enjoy a following so many are more impressed than I was.

This review is long overdue because I have been coming here for years and I always recommend this place to people but they have the absolute best breakfast burritos in Portland. Hands down. The traditional burritos are also excellent and both salsas they make are different but very flavorful and compliment each other. This place is my go to on the regular!

Delicious! I'm all about classic street tacos; flavorful, grilled, marinated meat topped with chopped onion, cilantro and a big squeeze of lime on homemade corn tortillas. For me, no cheese, salsa, lettuce, sour cream or other Americanized fixings; I want the classic style. The tacos at La Morenita deliver! I chose the pork carnitas which they grilled so the taco arrives piping hot, tender and juicy, with those much coveted crispy bits. Totally legit. Prices are totally fair and reasonable, $2.00 and under. If I lived in the area I'd have these every week! Of course they also make amazing burritos that I make two meals out of. For the $7, it's not only delicious it's economical. They do breakfast burritos that are the bomb! Next time I plan on getting the chilaqueles, one of my faves, but on this day I just could not resist the tacos as I'd had them before and knew how good they are. Owners are really friendly and work hard to get your order completed quickly while still serving quality food. Located on SE Hawthorne in a food pod area, you can't miss this brightly painted cart right next to Fried Egg I'm in Love. They have outdoor seating with a tent and of course take-out. Park right on SE Hawthorne or on the side street. Go to La Morenita to satisfy your Mexican cravings, you know you have them!

SO DAMN GOOD - some of the best food I've had in Portland. Beef shredded tacos and carne asada burrito were both DELICIOUS!

    Traditional Asada Burrito, very good

Burritos so good, it's even good when you're sober. High strung off my coffee next door at Tōv's bus cafe, I contemplated on whether I was hungry since coffee tends to suppress my appetite. I went with my gut feeling that it'd be best to eat anyway, and oooh I'm so thankful for my gut for nudging me to this taco stand. Seeing people eat their food was itself already promising as their faces were filled with delight. I saw this man chowing down on a burrito and knew I needed to get one of those. I got the traditional burrito with asada as my choice of meat, priced reasonably at $6-7ish. It was a good size, and most importantly, TASTY. I didn't even need to be hungry to want to keep eating. Quesadilla was also a great choice. Spot was a great find and certainly memorable, and even unforgettable.

Great tasting tacos especially the meat. Cool that they add chips to all their orders however there were stale. This place took a little longer that I'd like. I would come back for the cheap good tasting tacos!

Yooooooooo amazing. Just peep the pics. All that and a coconut water for $9 flat. Go to Tov next door for coffee too. 260+ reviews - ALL 5 stars - parking: street - price: $2 per fully stacked taco (epic) - vibes: awesome - perks: when you order the owner gives you your own bottle of green home made green sauce - also: peep the pics, tacos are fireeee

Chilaqueles was bomb. The potatoes and beans were on point too! Only in town for the weekend but might have to make my way back

Both the fish and the prawns were cooked in a red sauce that was delicious! I meant to ask for blue corn tortillas but was so excited to find shrimp & fish tacos that weren't deep-fried that I forgot to ask for them. The regular corn tortillas were excellent, though, so it was not a bad mistake to make. I also had jamaica to drink and let me tell you... it was not made from a mix! It was dark, thirst-quenching, and perfectly made. Most jamaica is super sweet - this was not! I love the flavor of real hibiscus and this did not disappoint. My friends had chile relleno bowls and birria tacos, all of which was excellent. Their watermelon margaritas were tasty and refreshing! Our orders were taken by a helpful person at the cash register and the food was served quickly by a friendly server. The inside and outside areas were clean and tidy, with plenty of seating available at the outside tables. The outdoor seating area is under cover making it a good choice for both summer & winter dining. Definitely going on my "have to go back and try something else" list!

I also tried the NA classic margarita and it was so refreshing. I loved the subtle touch of orange juice. Overall, such a lovely spot with amazing food, great vibes, and thoughtful details. I will definitely be back!

For the amount of food and the overall experience, I thought it was a great way to experience the restaurant. Ángel took care of us and made the meal even more memorable by telling us the story and inspiration behind each dish as it came out. It made the tasting feel like much more than just trying a bunch of different dishes. I'm definitely a carnivore and usually feel like a meal needs some kind of meat, but surprisingly, my favorite dish was the mole with eggplant and rice. The mole was delicious, and I genuinely didn't miss having meat on the plate. I would happily order that dish again exactly as it was. The tomates en salsa arabe were another standout. I really enjoyed how fresh the dish tasted, especially with the seasonal tomatoes they were using. I also had the carnitas tacos, which had great flavor and texture. For dessert, we had what was essentially a fried concha, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. It had just the right amount of sweetness for me and was a great way to finish the meal. Overall, I highly recommend doing the full tasting menu at República. For around $40 per person, you get to experience the entire menu, and if you're lucky enough to have Ángel there to walk you through the stories and concepts behind the dishes, it makes the experience that much better.

Today my wife and I enjoyed scrumptious Tacotes, one chicken and one Bok Choy with house made salsa. Extra side of yummy and creamy black bean frijoles with sour cream, butter, tortillas. Instead of desert, the Mezcal, chile and lime was refreshing. Right now open for lunch Thursday through Sunday 10-3pm. No fixed menu, changes with what's fresh - the way chef Angel loves to cook respecting what is in season. Service and ambiance is friendly and knowledgeable about the food and its origin - another reason I love dining here so I learn about what I'm eating and how it was inspired. Yes, the food plated looks so good, I am inspired to dig in. There's a reason it was recognized early in its start by Eater, Portland Monthly and the Oregonian as one of the best restaurants in the city because foodies seek out and love to go where the food experience is special - especially the chef tasting menus in the past.
