I love this place. Everytime I come, the same guy takes me order, I brought my parents here, I was able to say, i would like that steak dish my dad ordered, and he remembered. He was patient with my parents, they were but we got some delicious stuff . I love their pastor, its got the typical delicious marinade, I believe i taste some mango. Its very complimentary. This is very good Mexican food. I eat here all the time. Food is always hot and fresh. Don't be in a hurry because they always seem a bit understaffed, but that won't keep me from coming back. They recently added more seating by acquiring the storefront adjacent to the original. This is the best Mexican food in town. Decor is nothing fancy - just tables and chairs. No blaring music, no mariachi band, no sombreros and piñatas hanging from the ceiling. Just really good food. read more

We visited this restaurant today 1/21/2019 and loved it. It's quite unassuming hit don't let that fool you. The food is outstanding as well as the drinks. We went for a birthday meal and it wasn't full but the owner was very attentive. I had steak tacos and chicken flautas. The flautas were the best I've ever had. They also surprised us with playing happy birthday over the PA system. We had regular margaritas and they were excellent. We will definitely go back. read more

Most awkward restaurant experience! I should have walked straight out as soon as I walked in during dinner hours and there was no one else. Menu is pretty over priced and the food was okay. Don't go to this place. The employees have terrible customer service. I asked why their prices are higher than comparable restaurants and I was asked why I came back the second time if I don't like their prices. This was rude. Their food is also not the greatest for the price. 1 star. I would not recommend. Employees need training in customer service. The best Mexican food I have had since moving out of the city. Real tacos, meaning corn tortillas with onions and cilantro. None of this hard shell crap, unless requested. I believe the horchata MAY actually be made in house, which is huge. I have only been once, so it is possible that it was a fluke. I'll be back to update it so. read more

I have not reviewed a restaurant in over a year but had to write a review of this place. This place has the BEST steak tacos I have ever eaten in my life. All of the ingredients are super fresh and the meat is cooked right when you order (not pre-cooked!). It does take some time for the food to be prepared but it is totally worth it. You can always call ahead to place your order if you don't want to wait. For a small little joint, this place sure does deliver some 5-star tacos! I love right next to this place and seriously can't get enough. On top of the staff being incredibly friendly and welcoming, the food is incredible and always so fresh. Try the Azteca tacos (chorizo, steak, peppers, mushrooms, and cheese) - I'd eat them every day if I could! This place is truly a hidden gem. read more

It's a small place located in a hidden strip mall. The sign above the restaurant still says "Pizza", but don't let that scare you away. It's run by a very nice, friendly guy who seems to manage the place by himself for the entire 12 hr shift that it's open for. Check out the menu handout for the full menu since the menu posted above the counter only shows the basics. I had the carne asada torta, which was very good. The steak was cooked to perfection and the other ingredients fused together to create one of the best tortas I've had in this area. The prices are a little higher than the other similar mexican places around, but the increase in quality and taste definitely outweighs that cost. La Parilla has become a go-to in an area that is quite frankly over-saturated with Mexican food options. Over the last few years, they have really updated the space, decor, and menu and it continues to be stellar every time we eat there. The gentleman who is ALWAYS there both cooking and serving (has to be the owner) is so welcoming, and friendly. Now that my wife and I are sort of "regulars" here he always greets us with a warm, "Hi there, how are you! Thank you for coming!" When we order to go we typically stick with the typical tacos, burritos, tortas, etc. But I love coming to dine in because they whip up some absolutely fabulous margaritas and other cocktails at the bar. We always get the queso fundido with chorizo to start and it's brought to the table still sizzling in the pan with piping hot tortillas. I honestly could just eat this and leave happy! He makes FANTASTIC chilaquiles which I order quite a bit. I prefer red sauce w/steak, but you can get red or green, steak, chicken, or eggs. They even offer the chilaquiles "divorciados" (pretty sure I just butchered that spelling...) with half red/half green saice and a half chicken/half steak. It's a big plate served with beans, sour cream, and toasted garlic bread. The enchiladas are also fantastic, and I keep threatening to try the fajitas next time. They also recently added elotes to the menu....YES! You get a big cup of corn for I think $3, great value, and it's delicious. Perfect mix of the corn, mayo, cheese, and chili powder. All the desserts look phenomenal, but we're always so stuffed that we don't induldge. The fresh churros w/strawberry ice cream look amazing. They've got a bunch of ice cream flavors which I am pretty sure are home made? They also have a really extensive catering menu. We've had them cater a few family parties and it's always a huge hit. Sometimes I get legitimately sad when I'll walk in on a Saturday night to find the place nearly empty. They continue to expand and make improvements though so I assume their lunch, carry out, and catering business is robust enough to keep them going. Seek out La Parilla, you will NOT be disappointed! While it's less than a block off a busy section of Ogden Ave, it's still virutally hidden on Old Tavern Rd just north of the Popeye's, in a sort-of run down strip mall with a convenience store, chinese place (Fabulous Noodles) and a salon. Fresh, great prices, full of flavor, service was excellent. I had the steak taco salad. It had mixed lettuce so it wasn't all iceberg. It did not come with guacamole but I ordered it on the side for $3.89 extra. The salsa has some heat but not too much and it was not overpowering. Landed in this spot by mistake and pleasantly surprised with quality of food and good service. I had the 2 tacos platos (tongue) and they were just delish!! I have to give 2 thumbs up for presentation, tacos, rice and beans were cutely lined up. Being of Mexican decent I believe I tend to over analyze Mexican food since we know this food the best and I have to say that it met and exceeded my expectations. Let me start this way. Food - 4.5 / 5.0 Service - 4/5 Ambiance - Its a really small mom 'n' pop joint so don't worry too much about it. Its clean. I just got back from this place and I loved it. When you drive up to the address there's no sign for the restaurant so look for the door with the La Parilla logo. You know right away this place is really small. A mom 'n' pop shop. You place your order up front at the counter - I ordered Pork Tostada which by the way was very delicious. It was $5.99 and I think that was a very good bargain for the quality of food. The kitchen is a small clean place behind the counter. We were a group of 7 and it wasn't crowded for Friday lunch hour. The couple that runs it seemed very friendly. As we took our seats the lady brought over freshly fried chips and really GREAT salsa (the Verde and pico de gallo were both spicy BUT FANTASTIC). The rest of our crowd ordered different kind of taco's, burritos and torta's and all of us thought the food was very well made and of good quality. I will be going here again and highly recommend you try it out as well. I hope the quality of food stays the same as they get more and more customers. read more

Love this place!! The tortas are fabulous! I got the milensa and it was a lovely combination of tender and juicy! The jalapenos add a nice wanted flare to the sandwich.
