Molcajetero azteca. The only good thing in it was the cheese. How the heck does a cook manage to serve a dried up nopal??

I was highly disappointed with everything from the service, to the food and on a Mother's Day! Keep in mind, I'm a dtla born and raised, so I've been coming to la parrilla as a tradition every year for birthdays, holidays, etc.... And honestly they went from being golden to being worse than copper. First off, I was first shocked as to why it was so empty and it was already after 5pm. Once ordering and trying to consume my food I realized why... The lady that served us, first was nice, but she was lagging and kept forgetting things we ordered and would bring them to our table late and there was literally not many other consumers other than 3-4 other small groups. For example, we ordered an agua de tamarindo, and our server brought us a Jamaica. We kindly asked if we could get the tamarindo, we didn't order Jamaica. Then were brought the partial part of our order ( we got 2 molcajetes aztecas) and when it was brought out, we got the molcajetes, but no rice, beans or tortillas. AND STILL NO agua de TAMARINDO. We waited until about 5-8 minutes until the rest of the food was brought out and we had to remind the lady she still hadn't gotten out tamarind agua. Food quality in all honesty, 3 / 10 and I'm honestly being generous. The beans were cold and looked microwaved. The rice was the most stale Mexican rice I've had, and the meat quality was trash. So much fat, barely any actual meat, and for $50 per molcajete for a very small portion of each meat and it's mostly fat, and then has this distasteful old meat taste... seriously the worst, they're risking food borne illnesses. This place went from being so genuine and authentic to literal trash. Owner & management really need to look into how to get their business go back to being good again. , seriously wasting potential on the location especially since it was locally famous for being Charlie chaplins home in his time in LA. Need ideas let me know, I'll manage the place and bring back the quality it used to have back when my parents used to bring me, because honestly, it's wasted potential and food is so disgusting and inedible.

Solid 4 star Good: quesadillas/price Bad: could work on their salsa as in picture This place is solid for a quick home food tasting type of meal. I haven't tried burritos or tacos here

It was like coming to Mexico. Not in a bad way but it just looked so traditional and fun. The decor was very traditional and the servers were all dressed up. I'm guessing there is a live band or music from time to time because I saw them passing by as I was going in. There are also TVs so if you're looking for a place to watch the game you can do that here. I made the mistake of coming here before checking yelp. I got the enchilada pobalanas and it really wasn't that good. 1/3 of the plate was beans, 1/3 rice, and the other 1/3 was the enchiladas. It was in a sweet mole sauce. Maybe a little too sweet. My coworker ordered a chicken item and he received a beef item. The meal comes with chips and salsa and also a small bowl of soup. It was tasty so that's a plus. There is a lot of space and a lot of tables.

To look for parking was terrible! They don't have their own parking lot and steet parking is very tight. However, we did end up finding some, we just had to walk alittle. For starters they brought chips and salsa. After we ordered our food they brought us a lentils soup meanwhile we wait. The soup and food were delicious! They do have hand made corn tortillas. The only reason I took away 2 stars was 1 for no parking and the other 1 for the service. The lady who helped us was nice, but we literraly didn't see her after she brought the food until we paid... she never came by our table to see if we needed anything, not attentive to any needs at all. She was not even around for to call her to our table. Anyway the food was good. I give them thay credit.

You know those hidden places where everyone talks about, but when you go there it isnt a hit at all? Honestly, this is one of those places BUT its because you just don't know what you need to order. This place can be a major hit or a miss depending on what you order. This place is known for their La Parrilla which is basically a hot plate with meats, but there is sooo much more. - Tortilla & Salsa: Basically they make their own tortilla so its always fresh! Along with their chips. Also, their salsas are homemade as well. There is two different kinds, one is chunky and the other is more like a sauce. - Vegetable Soup: They will always serve you this veggie soup. Its a great starter. It is usually made fresh, but always ask for lemon because it always make the soup better. It has chunks of veggies along with tons of macaroni noodles. - Queso Fundido - it is a cheese lovers dream. It is basically melted hunk of cheese and there is some where you can add chorizo or champinones to it. All three choices are great but the original is always the best. You can see the cheese strings being pulled as you scoop into it...sooo beautiful. - Guacamole: This is a dish that beyond fresh. Every time I go, it is always freshly made by order! Who else can say that?! It's a great dish to share. - Parrilladas: This is basically the bigger version of La Parrilla. NEVER ever go with seafood here....unless you want to get sick. They have the carne asada with shrimp and that's the one with of course, carne asada. And the shrimp is basically bacon wrapped shrimp....ummmm yes...I said bacon wrap shrimp WITH CHEESE! I absolutely love these shrimps. Also, it comes with grilled green onions and cactus. - Fried Ice cream: Do I need to say anything else? It's a crispy sweet layer on top with a sweet vanilla ice cream as the center. So basically, no matter where you go, it all depends on what you order. It is hard unless you go with someone who knows exactly what to order. So basically DO NOT order any seafood here. As appetizer, the guacamole and the queso Fundido is great. And as a meal, order meat parrilladas. As for drinks, their strawberry and Cadillac margaritas are great. Along with their homemade horchata. The only downside is the service. You will either get great service or it will basically suck, so it's a gamble.

Waited 1 hour 10 min for Shrimp Camarones. It was not even good. It's overpriced ok food with lousy service. I paid $22 (plate plus soda ) for like 7 pieces of shrimp, 2 scoops of rice and dried up salad. See pic You should not have to wait 1 hour for seafood or any kind of food. Bad service overall. Barely apologetic. Nothing complementary. No idea how they stayed in business 40 years with that kind of service though. And they charge almost 5% on credit card purchases. This is possibly the worst service I've received

The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

Located between Koreatown and Pico-Union, this restaurant delivers an outstanding dining experience from the moment you're seated. My wife and I both ordered the Mole Coloradito with chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. One detail we really appreciated was being able to choose between white meat or dark meat--a thoughtful touch that lets you customize your meal to your preference. The mole was rich, complex, and full of flavor, exactly what you would hope for from a restaurant known for its Oaxacan specialties. As a welcome appetizer, they bring fresh chips and salsa to the table, but what really impressed us was when they replaced the salsa with their incredible mole sauce. It was so good we found ourselves dipping everything into it. Both meals were served with rice that was perfectly cooked with a great consistency and flavor. For those feeling adventurous, give the Chapulines (grasshoppers) a try. They may sound intimidating, but they were surprisingly enjoyable and added to the authentic experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and patient with those of us who are not fluent in Spanish. Their hospitality made us feel comfortable and welcomed throughout our visit. Great food, authentic flavors, and wonderful service make Guelaguetza a restaurant we'll definitely be returning to. Highly recommended!

As soon as you walk up the stairwell you'll be transported into this super cute place with an outdoor-indoor feel, almost like an elegant treehouse. We were seated on the second level which provided a Birds Eye view of the restaurant. We ordered a few items to share: Cameron ceviche, flautas and for our sweet tooth, French toast paired with a mango sorbet surprise with a candle for our birthdays (tip: we drizzled the melted sorbet on our French toast and took small scoops with each bite - game changer!). Everything was so delicious! We also ordered mocktails, a miche-nada for him and a lemony drink for me. This experience wouldn't have been as great without the exceptional service we had. Our waters were always refilled without asking, our tables were cleaned with every dish, honestly top-notch service! I'm sure they have their reasons, but I was pretty disheartened to see it go. Overall, the menu doesn't have a ton of vegan items, but they do have some room for adjustments if you ask.
