This place reminds me of someone who has too much money to throw away. I can hear the owners talking: "We must have a prancing Ferrari horse out front. And Fountains! The fountain must have 3 tiers" The stone work both inside and out looks great. My wife and I stopped in Friday night to have a quick bite to eat. We split two heros, shrimp parm and grilled chicken. The grilled chicken hero had nice chunks of fried garlic and was pretty tasty. I took a chance on the shrimp parm hero. No one makes them better than my wife. Came here for lunch with a friend. I ordered the Lunch Combo - starts at $12.50 with plenty of options ranging from salads, pizza, panini's and soups. Picked the Pecan Salad which was a $2 up charge and then the 1/2 whole wheat bar pie of the Buffalo Chicken which was $2.50 up charge. Friend had the Caprino Salad but they charged $16.50 for it. One of my favorite pizzerias on Long Island! The pizza, Italian dishes and, surprisingly salads are great! Today I went in to grab a quick slice for lunch. I got a buffalo chicken slice and it was $4.89; a little pricey for one slice of pizza but definitely worth it! It's my favorite spot for this type of slice especially! Not too spicy, but has the right amount of kick and the blue cheese dressing they use is perfect! For salads I LOVE the pecan salad. It's so simple and tasty! Topped with Gorgonzola cheese, candied pecans, and their homemade dressing, over a mescaline/arugula salad, YUM. My family also orders catering from them every Christmas Eve. Lenny kept me going with his authentic heavy Italian accent and fantastic passion. Not sure what happened but for some insane reason..they let him go. Bad move. A few months ago I learned that my family's favorite and very entertaining Italian waiter Lenny, relocated to CAFE FORMAGGIO Italian restaurant near the Roosevelt Field Mall. Consistently GREAT FOOD!!!! Fantastic pizza, the dinners have been spot on every time. The grilled chicken is the best tasting I ever had, whether in a salad or with broccoli rabe it's delicious. Fantastic calamari and rice balls. My husband's favorite is the Rigatoni Fiorentina. Its creamy, melty, full of flavor and a huge plate! I can sum up La Piazza quickly: expensive and try the Buffalo Chicken slice. For those of you with a bit more patience, I'll offer up some more information as this is one of the places that I have frequented a bit. First, everyone will rave about the Buffalo Chicken slice. If you haven't tried it, then do so; I think it will live up to the hype. It is the sole reason I rated La Piazza a four star venue as opposed to a three star. The other specialty slices are also quite good. Next off, it's the most popular pizzeria in the area, so the food is also freshly made since it is in constant rotation. Lastly, it also a nice place to sit down at for an Italian-American style dinner. La Piazza is one of my go-to places for a chicken parmigiana platter. The pasta was over cooked and the sauce was thin and oily, not really ala vodka sauce by any stretch - the grilled chicken was so salty. The fried zucchini was absolutely TERRIBLE. Tasted like it was fried in old carnival cart oil. It was actually disgusting and a waste of 13 bucks. Only decent thing was the slices and those were also pretty wack. This used to be my go to spot, sadly that changed over the last year. My family and I were regulars at La Piazza, a big fan of their fresh pasta and delicious pizza. In January, my family and I decided to go to La Piazza for a celebratory dinner. The food was the complete opposite of what we were used to, tasteless and old. We just assumed they were having an off day, wrapped up and left. However as I returned from onwards, January to now, the food has been consistently disgusting. The cheese is old, and the quality is consistently subpar. I am thoroughly disappointed, as La Piazza used to be the spot. We ran out with the kids to grab a quick bite to eat. Decided to run into La Piazza in Merrick. Well surprise surprise, it's great. Really great. Not just a pizza restaurant but a step above. Their dishes were st even par with any fine dinning Italian restaurant on Long Island. The service was attentive. Let me start off by saying this place is beautiful, flawless decor but the best part is it's spotless. So clean you can't even see a crumb on the floor. Came during the coronavirus pandemic and every one was wearing a mask, gloves , the delivery drivers were so clean they were changing their gloves constantly . Everything flowed together beautifully like a well oiled machine. All the workers worked together in such unity . Great food the pizza was delicious brick oven and the calzone was yummy I wasn't a fan of the mozzarella and garlic bread it was like just cheese glopped on but everything else was great. Came last night for an outdoor dinner with a party of 6. Table was ready when we got there, service was excellent, food was delicious. Their pecan salad was the best I have had, and their gluten free cauliflower pizza was perfect. Portions were more than generous! Manager came around multiple times to check on the diners. My family has ordered the pie for take out on numerous occasions over the past years, and we'll come for dinner once in a while too. I can attest to the fried calamari and the buffalo chicken salad as great choices, though my family usually orders a pie if we're dining in. I've come for dinner with friends and coworkers at both this location and the Plainview location, and the food and service has been equally good at either location. On my most recent visit I split the personal buffalo chicken pizza with my SO, and the pie came with six slices. This was perfect for sharing between the two of us. They also give you a sheet to sign up for a rewards club if you come often where you make points for every dollar spent and can redeem points for coupons off the total of your order, or a free item so that's a great resource for regular customers. If you're around either location I recommend you pop in and grab a slice, you won't be disappointed! read more

Wow! I placed a order with La piazza in Merrick during the Corona virus when we are all reluctant to leave are homes. The order was placed over the phone and instructed that I wanted my delivery to be left on my porch and I would leave the money and tip in a envelope since I wanted 6ft of social distance between us. I met the delivery guy at my door and he showed me the envelope w $123.00 in it when it was suppose to be $23.00 incl tip. Apparently I mistakenly put all my money in the envelope from my purse. I've been a long time staple at la piazza and this merrick chain in particular. I've essentially taken every girl I've dated in the last 10 years here as a "safe bet" dining experience. As of the last few visits though I truly believe management and staff has deteriorated quite a bit. Food quality wise this place still is salvaged from being a 1 or 2 star review. Nearly any route you take the food is above average in quality, average in portion size, and above average in price. I can accept this a bit but as others have stated the prices in the last 5 years have shot up a noticeable margin (I wish my ira accounts could do the same magic here). I'll give it a pass because the quality has been maintained over time. What doesn't get a pass is the bad attitudes and incompetent servers here. I don't want to give them all a bad rap sheet but most of the servers here have piss poor attitudes and really seem like they loathe their jobs. Last few visits approached feels like a fast food order demeanor scenario. Nothing personalized and no attempts to common courtesy. Basically get in and get out... best yet during the last visit the waitress who seemed annoyed at being at work the entire time I asked for 10 dollars back from what would of been a 23% tip decided to give me only my change (cent difference back). I was in a rush so she ended up choking up a decent tip probably around 40%. Seemed intentional as she magically disappeared after... As I quote home alone - "keep the change you filthy animal". May need gauge visits back as the competition in this area has grown stronger. read more

Really disappointed in the people that answer the phones. I have severe gluten and dairy allergy and called to ask what was in the gluten free pasta before ordering. The girl who answered the phone was annoyed I asked and was rude saying she would have to go all the way to the back to look at the ingredients. Allergies are apart of ADA and are considered disabilities. If you guessed correctly the girl did not go to look and we did not order from here. Maybe staff should not be so rude and accommodate to allergies and not give customers a hard time for them asking so they don't wind up in the hospital. read more

I love this place. I came here for the first time last night for dinner. The menu selection is endless. I ordered the Mediterranean salad and made some changes, they were very accommodating. The quality was great and the portions are large. I finished the salad and was stuffed. I would definitely order it again. The dressing was great, and the price was reasonable. My mom ordered a pasta dish and loved it, my dad ordered a chicken dish and loved it. For dessert we got the sky tower chocolate cake which was to die for. Don't really understand why the Merrick/Bellmore community goes crazy about this place for years. Average food, way over priced and owner/employees poor attitude. They upcharge every little change including an additional 3.5% surcharge when you use a credit card. They have several locations- but this one is our favorite! They have small area in the front if you just want to get pizza from the counter. If you do this- get the buffalo chicken slice- by far the best slice they have! They have an extensive menu of Italian dishes- can't go wrong with any! To put it in prospective for that price I could have brought the same ingredients from a super-market and made 20 chopped salads. ridiculously overpriced!!! But price aside I got home and the containers where only half filled with salad. So not only was a totally ripped off with the price I was also ripped off with the quantity.... Usually order pizza from here. I always ask for under some extra cheese. The place is always fast friendly and accommodating. So we figure why not go done in and explore the menu a little. We walked in at 9ish and any person who walks in a restaurant at that time gets a little weary. But the lady at the front was amazingly welcoming. "Come on in were open till ten come sit!" The menu is straight to the point italian! You're chickens and veal and pastas and pizzas. You can exchange tortellini for any pasta dish. Which I did I got tortellini ala vodka. The prosciutto was not chewy not to small not to big the tortellini cooked just like grandma made. The vodka sauce light and didn't break apart. My gf wanted angel hair and the waitress says you know what lets to the angel hair meatballs and I'll melt cheese on top of it. My lady you were an angel. The meatballs were real! That's right meaty break apart not bread sponge balls. The bread was hot and the waitress was overly accommodating. We found out they have a rewards program as well 1 point for every dollar towards certificates. Let me tell you this Italian place hits all the spots.
