Based on the reviews, I thought this place was going to be trash. But it was actually really good to my surprise. The rosemary focaccia bread was so fresh and fluffy and delicious. I would definitely get that again and it was served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The shrimp scampi special was not on the menu, but was one of the specials of the day that the waiter presented so I ordered that and it was so good. It comes with little shrimp, but also too very large prawns. I didn't taste the meatballs, but I heard they were really good. And the crabcakes were pretty good as well. I mean, they're not Maryland lump crab cakes, but they were fine for a California restaurant trying to make crabcakes. I would actually come back here the next time I'm at the Grove. read more

First of all, the host Veronica was beautiful and so welcoming, I would go back there just to see her beautiful smile . Our server Rey was great also. The atmosphere was perfect! We sat outside giving us a front row seat to live entertainment at the Grove, it was the place to be! The food was, "meh". I kind of knew this from the yelp reviews, but we couldn't beat the great view which was also wonderful for people watching. I had the very bland crab cakes for $26. Two small, no thrills, little patties with a dull taste. My husband had the chef boy spaghetti and meatballs. Not real authentic Italian food BUT we paid for the atmosphere, which brought our total to $93! I took my kids to the mall for some shopping and dinner at La Piazza, where our server, Raymundo, made the experience especially enjoyable. He was very attentive to my children, making sure their meals arrived quickly and even bringing drinks with lids to help prevent spills at the table. We ordered the most expensive pasta on the menu, but the mussels smelled terrible. It was disgusting--we didn't eat them at all. Luckily, they were in shells, so we just set them aside. The pizza was more like crispy bread than actual pizza. I will say the lasagna was pretty good--that's the reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. Whenever I visit the Grove and I exit the parking structure, I always walk by this place and this place is almost always busy. It's in a very prime location and if you eat outside, you have a good view of the fountain area. I really don't understand the really low rating in Yelp because my experience here was really good. So I ordered a couple of items like a Pizza, Broccoli, a Spaghetti, and some cheese on top of sour dough bread variety. The food itself is pretty good. The pizza was good, smelled good, with a good crust as well. The spaghetti pasta was delicious with the meat sauce and you can tell that the spaghetti here is not like a normal store brand one. It's much thicker and chewy like fresh pasta should be. It does have a consistency of like a udon noodle though which some may or may not like. For me personally, I prefer thinner spaghetti noodles but it was an interesting twist. The broccoli was okay, it was a bit on the greasy side. The service here was great, constantly getting checked up on and my water was constantly getting refilled. The interior of the place is very nice and warm feeling. It's dimly lit and a great place for a date. The restaurant is pretty big, it has an outdoor seating, indoor seating, and also upstairs seating. So what are the down falls of the place? For one off the bat is the price. It's pretty pricey for what it is and I wish there was free bread. Most Italian places I've been to usually offer free bread with olive oil to dip and eat while you wait. The second down fall is just the wait time for food. It takes quite some time for food to appear. Overall, it's a good place to check out. It's a nice date night place along with good food. Came to LA for Nike's After Dark Tour, and the expo was being held at The Grove--right on the rooftop parking lot. Gotta say, Nike really outdid themselves with the setup. After browsing around for merch (because obviously), we knew we had to carb up the night before the run. We spotted La Piazza and saw pasta on the menu--perfect. Despite its 3-star rating, we decided to go for it. It was a Friday night and the place was packed with thousands of runners picking up their bibs, so we made a reservation just in case. We got seated on the balcony, which was actually a really nice touch--it overlooked the plaza and had a chill vibe. Naturally, we over-ordered because our eyes were definitely hungrier than our stomachs. Some of the pasta dishes hit the spot, others were just okay. I have to say I'm very disappointed at this restaurant. First, if you have any food allergies please avoid this restaurant. We ordered pizza and pasta and meatballs but the next thing I saw was my son turning red and unable to breathe so we had to rush to the car to get his epi pen. It was due to cross contamination and the worst part was my brother was still at the restaurant and he told the waitress what has happened and they never called the manager or offer to discount or tell him to not worry about the bill they did not even apologize and we had to drive to Cedar Sinai ER. I wanted to like this place, but cannot see myself coming back lol. But the highlight is its location right by the the fountain, perfect for people-watching and enjoying your time at the Grove. However, my experience here left me thinking the food falls short when compared to the price. Pizza wasn't really full fired where there's nice crunch on the crust and dough. It also kinda came out room temperature for some reason. The rack of lambs came out not much with sauce. Seasoned just enough but bit drier than I would like because its grilled and there is an attempt to put enough of the chimichurri but it deserved more or should have provided as a side. Service was somewhat OK, it didn't appear too busy but was rather still difficult to obtain someone's attention for a restaurant type like this. Really disappointing experience overall. We waited an hour and a half for our food, which is way too long, especially since the restaurant wasn't that busy. When the food finally came out, the order was wrong, and the quality didn't make up for the wait at all. The four-cheese pizza had a weird, funky taste that made it hard to eat, and the spaghetti bolognese was soggy and overcooked, like it had been sitting for a long time before being served. First and foremost, the location of this restaurant is in a prime area. You get a view to the fountain and they have outdoor seating area that is near the fountain as well. However, the reason I am giving it 3 stars is because the food is underwhelming--lacks flavor, presentation, and quality. My expectations of the restaurant would be that it's Italian. It's going to be comforting, tasty, and just the type of food that makes you want to come back. I was wrong. Again, the servicescape does not scream Italian, but its location of the restaurant that gets you. Additionally, I wouldn't come back here for the good, but the drinks were reasonably priced and definitely more on the tasty side. I did not send any back because it didn't taste like a cocktail or it was too sweet or it was just nasty. Lastly, our server Tiana was new and fairly good to say the least. It was more so the host stand, the table assistants (busser), and attention to detail. The host is least of my worries. However, the busser were floating around the table like a seagull and I understand to clean but there are signs when a busser should show up. Additionally, I saw tables that had leftover dishes that needed to be tended to that busser can focus on rather than guests that are dining. A lovely location with great views of LA's iconic outdoor shopping experience, The Grove. I work in luxury Beauty, so I have the ability to visit this location quite often however, I've always chosen other restaurants. Last night a friend and I decided to visit LaPiazza and while the host and server, Angel were great. My first red flag began when I went to the restroom to wash my hands. It was filthy. As I was walking out I saw who looked like the GM (who also looked as he could care less) and shared. I believe his name was Kevin because by the end of our meal he was brought over to our table so that we could share some additional feedback. Dining in LA/Beverly Hills is never inexpensive, so it wasn't a "matter of cost" but the overall dining experience is what makes a difference. This was definitely NOT worth the bill. It began with us asking for a few extra olives for our Caprese salad as it came with 3 olives. We were happy to pay for them. It took them 10 minutes to arrive in which the salad was basically gone and we were charged $12 for olives that were an egregious amount in a bowl making no sense at all for what was served. The food was awful and why we would need to ask for FRESH ground pepper at an Italian restaurant is beyond me. I should have taken heed when the guest's next to us sent their pasta back as it had a hair in it. I could see the frustration in the sever Angel's face as he walked away with a plate of pasta most likely costing $40-50 with a hair in it.
