Tim the manager was so rude. My 4 year old niece busted her finger on the door that has old rusted metal (will be making sure her tetanus is up to date) surrounding it cause it to bleed when approaching the manger to make an incident report his first response was we are a small business we don't do that. Don't even offer a bandaid, apologize, nothing. After taking my name down and being very short i wanted to show him the door, his response was I open doors everyday I know what it looks like. No customer service at all. Later in the dinner my sister left the restaurant where she heard him talking about or situation to other employees saying this was our own fault and to be better. I will be contacting the owner. For coming in with a large party celebrating a graduation and spending over $400 Food was mediocre, manager was rude and bathrooms were dirty. DO NOT COME HERE! La Pinata, Phoenix Institution, was a welcome oasis for out Phoenix Cane and Walker Society Friday gathering. Temps outdoors punched near 100. Inside it was long pants and shirts weather. The mist-cooled, shaded, vegetated, patio would be dining comfort, especially with teps headed for the scorchies. The chips are good, salsa pleasant. We split an enchilada style (red) bean Burro (burrito), beverage ice tea. Ww don't need much for the rest of the day. read more

My husband and I had dinner here with a friend. Everything was excellent. I had Enchiladas Suiza with beef. My husband had a Ranchero Burro with ground beef. Both were excellent. The service was very good. The ambiance feels like a Mexican restaurant and is great. I have eaten here at least twice before and have always had a good experience. Our friend had been visiting this restaurant for 20 years, including at a prior location. The comfortable seating is both indoors and outdoors on a little fenced patio. We will return to this restaurant if in midtown Phoenix looking for a great Mexican restaurant. read more

Stopped in for a Father's Day dinner and it the spot! We were quoted a 20 minute wait but were sat in under 5 minutes. We were seated outside in the patio, which is covered with fans so it did not feel hot. We ordered the spinach queso dip and it was the perfect shareable. I couldn't get an ouch of the crispy fried flour tortillas. For my main i opted for the chicken fajitas and it was amazing. The portion sizes were perfect for the price point. Decided to try La Piñata for lunch as soon as I saw green chile on their menu. The restaurant was pretty busy, but we were seated right away. As soon as we sat down, chips and salsa were brought to our table. The chips were fresh, and the salsa was not spicy but had great flavor. They have lunch menu specials. I ordered the green chile burrito. The burrito was big and can easily be shared. It was delicious and I was not disappointed with my choice. My boyfriend ordered the red chili burrito, and he also enjoyed his food. Our server was great and checked on us often. It was my first time here and I was definitely not disappointed. We actually came on taco Tuesday where they have a special of $2.50 tacos and everyone was getting them. Generous amount of steak and cheese on the plate, the charbroiled steak was cooked masterfully tender and juicy, yet cooked just enough with a nice marinade on the meat . Cheese was a nice compliment but not my favorite part, the steak was definitely the star of the show. The chips were a great supporting cast as it was evident they were home made with a very crunchy yet sturdy mouthfeel, had a moderate saltiness to them. I specifically asked for extra spicy salsa as well and it did not disappointed with a bit of a smoky and habanero taste. Outstanding and authentic Mexican fare in central Phoenix! My daughter and her family just moved into the area and we tried it with a larger group and our one year old granddaughter and it couldn't have been a better experience. Warm Chips and salsa upon arrival, creamy and delicious guacamole to start and a super tasty cheese crisp with whole green chili's on top. We had a combo plate with a cheese enchilada, bean tostada and a beef taco and it was very traditional and utterly delicious. We shall return! read more

I didn't know they moved. My parents used to take me there when I was a child in the 70's and I took my children there in the 90's. When my daughter told me they just move i was so happy. My friends introduced me to this place in central Phoenix. It looks small on the outside and the entrance is in the back. When entering it grew and it was very inviting. The service was excellent and the food was amazing! Their chips and salsa is very good and they brought us additional without asking. We ordered a cheese crisp that was awesome and asked for some spicy salsa too. I then had a green chili burrito with beef and green sauce which was amazing and I took half home. This restaurant has been in business for 55 years, and after dinner, we can see why. Packed with locals (get there before 7 if you don't want a wait). Had the chili rellenos and chicken enchiladas--ala carte as saw the enormous portions--and still took food home. He had the flautas with some great guacamole.
