My husband and I went to La Plage on Christmas Day with another couple. Our reservation was for 6:00, but we weren't seated for another half hour. The noise was intolerable -- you couldn't carry on a conversation without shouting. The food was OK, but I've had better, in less expensive restaurants. The prix fixe charge was $79, but the bill came to almost $500 for four people. This included a $3 charge for each of the four coffees. At that price, I think the coffee should have been included at no cost. The staff was very nice and attentive. We won't be back. read more

My husband, I and my in-laws went there for lunch as we were considering to have this place for my son's wedding venue. We just loved the vibe, the setting and beautiful water scene in the front! We all ordered Crispy Copps Island Oysters CT, thinking it would come raw and fresh. To our amazement, they came crispy fried, but they were delicious! I ordered Seafood Squid Ink Cavatelli for entree. At first, I liked it, but the more I ate the more I felt it had a funny taste. It was a quite unusual and weird flavor which, to my taste, shouldn't have belonged to this dish. I know the regular taste of squid ink cavatelli, rich but smooth, not like this one with an acidic aftertaste. I decided I didn't like the flavor! I didn't finish it, too bad! Made a reservation ahead of time specifying an outdoor table, arrived and was seated at a table that had been added to the middle of the bar area. When I nicely asked the hostesses if we could be moved was given attitude and told I'd need to wait an additional 45 minutes. The hostesses did not apologize nor acknowledge my frustration at having made a reservation specifically to sit outside. Unacceptable attitudes from the hostesses and will not be back. Recently moved to Westport and was looking forward to dinner at La Plage and was considering holding my wedding at the Inn at Longshore and have since reconsidered. read more

This will be short and sweet. there is only one thing and one thing only that stopped me giving this restaurant that fifth star. Why? the food is so good and lovely, the service is perfect, the ambiance is gorgeous, especially on a beautiful day if you are lucky enough to snare a table on the veranda. it is a special occasion restaurant to a T and you should be expected to understand it will be expensive which I absolutely did. BUT........$15.00 for a Bloody Mary? in a skinny little glass? Because of all of the above I wanted to be honest but I found that particular cost SO outrageous I wanted to gag.. Awful. I'm not cheap. I came here to celebrate my parents anniversary. We were so cold from the moment we were sat we had requested to sit where closer to the heaters and hour by hour we got closer. Finally we saw a table get up along with others in the area The manager Patrick was very disrespectful and only wanted to hear one side of the story. The husband came over after maybe half an hour telling my father he did something that he didn't and then the husband apologized, knowing what his wife started it out of ignorance. I won't ever send anyone there. I was already on the fence before going there and this situation happened- no communication with the team or else this would have never happened. Overall nightmare. Not even a good menu tbh. Better off where ppl treat you like ppl and not like they're above you. Be happy. This is not the place, or the ppl to do it with. They should stick to weddings. read more

This place was fantastic. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and from the beginning to the end of the meal, it was top-notch. The appetizers, the drinks, and the entrées we're fantastic by themselves, but then enjoying all of them with that view and it was all incredible! The location is great. Right on the water. The food was really not acceptable for the price. We went there the other night and the atmosphere is terrific. We ordered the food. The salad was really good. I had the lobster roll and the brioche toasted roll was overcooked and hard as a rock. The lobster meat inside was over cooked and dry and barely any lobster meat that was mixed in with some onion strings. I ate the lobster and the bread was left on the plate. The home made French fries were delicious. So I guess I paid $34 for delicious Fries! My girlfriend ordered a fish sea bass entree. She said it was just okay. Not a lot of flavors and bland but it was fresh. I will not go back! read more

I previously gave this establishment five stars when I visited last and that was before they fired their service manager Nicole or she left on her own. Ever since then, I have not been back except for one time for breakfast which was the most pathetic example of a high-end breakfast I've ever had in my life. Someone just threw over done eggs, a mediocre handful of potatoes and over fried bacon on a plate And served it. Even my wife and my kid were unhappy with their meal and yet here I was raving about how great this restaurant was. I demanded that they replace all our breakfasts in which they did, but only after i spoke up. I apologize to those who took my original five star review and went there and were disappointed as much as I was and I am for having to update my review but it is only fair to the public and to clear my name and/or reputation. Service was good, setting beautiful. However sitting on the enclosed terrace on a warm, rainy day was a little uncomfortable, no A/C there. The food, ah the over priced and sub par. The French fries were good. The oysters were mealy, and I suspect not really fresh. The burger was poorly assembled and difficult to eat, the patty was over done and dry, their home made English muffin which they used two sentences to describe was dry and I suspect stale as well as overly dense. A freshly toasted Thomases would have been a huge improvement. My wife's frittata was tasteless, with no hint of the advertised feta. There is more but I'm tired of talking about their poor food. I normally love this restaurant and their brunch on the weekends. I booked this for Easter Sunday and was very disappointed that the only Sunday of the year they don't have brunch is Easter, the brunch day of the year. We were a party of six. We all thought the food was mediocre. Two of us ordered the Wednesday mussel special. 12 of the mussels weren't opened with one order and 16 weren't opened with the other. The broth was nothing to write home about either. The service was slow - only two servers were taking orders on a packed terrace. But the experience was made worse by the restaurant's manager. There was a misunderstanding with my order. The special listed a beer that I thought, and everyone else at my table, came with the special. It was the only entree with a beverage listed in its description. The server didn't catch on when she told me that the listed beer was not available and I asked for a substitute. I ended up ordering two other beers thinking one was part of the special, because she told me I could order any kind. My party and I were surprised when when I was charged for both. We all thought I would just be charged for one. When this was explained to the manager- that there was as a miscommunication between what server said and what was listed on the menu- he didn't care and did not try to accommodate. We had all thought that he would try to rectify the situation, just charge for one beer, but he did nothing. It's his prerogative . Needless to say, I won't be back and neither will my friends. Why go back to a restaurant where the food is mediocre at best, service is under staffed and where the manager doesn't care about trying to rectify a situation? read more

Excellent experience! Oysters were outstanding. Cioppino and salmon were excellent. Wait staff was pleasant and attentive, we wanted for nothing. Can't wait to come back in the summer for oysters on the patio. The only drawback is parking. The road is one way, so if the restaurant parking lot is full, you have to circle the whole park to get back to the inn parking lot. Disappointing Always loved the spot; Splash was great and The Pearl was ok. My first experience at La Plage was unfortunately underwhelming. DECOR: The spot is still charming and the new deco is simple but ok. SERVICE: The hostess was so rude, the waitress was very nice but lacking basic training (interrupted our conversation many times by just starting talking to us without warning). I told her i was GF, and appreciated the waitress' diligence about that, however when i asked if my main dish was GF, she said she would check, but never reported the result... instead i was brought a dish that was so modified from the menu description that it was disappointing and bland. We ran out of wine midway through our dinner, and were never asked if we needed more. FOOD: Not great. Crispy artichokes w/ prosciutto was ok but a bit bland; not bad, not great. Mussels were overcooked (thus gummy and tough). Halibut was also overcooked (thus dry) and bland - it was supposed to be cheese-crusted and it was not, probably because the crust usually has bread crumbs. However, I was not told so, and nothing was added to compensate in terms of seasoning, so I ended up w/ a bland piece of fish with no sauce; I am not even sure it was salted/peppered because it so lacked any taste. White chocolate crème brûlée: custard was delicious, but the upper caramel crust was granular in texture (meaning the sugar was not fully melted). Overall disappointing, especially given the price. Should be a 2-star review but the extra star is for the water front location, the best dining view in Westport. read more

Arrived early for our reservation only to find they could not honor our request for seating outside ( although we saw two empty tables available), the noise level prevented discussion and there was also a large outside event adding to the congestion and noise level. I'm giving it three stars because the server was nice and the food was decent, but it was meh at best. They charged $14 for a bread basket that had very little bread. Cocktails ordered - they arrived at 3 different times (one friend nearly done with her beverage). Waitstaff unresponsive to numerous requests for bread. Ordered dinner and it was pretty good. As the place filtered out, I approached the bartender about his lite pour. This inexperienced bartender turned condescending and angry when questioned. Minutes later, the indignant manager approached the table defensive over my questioning of the bartender, claiming I yelled. Manager proceeded to chide me saying the bartender uses the "euro pour". Being belittled by a manager never bodes well, especially with a table of ladies. I will not be returning. read more

This latest incarnation at the Longshore club is very nice. My advice is to come on a good weather day and sit on or near the outdoor patio. Stick with the basics as the food is good but not great. Go there for a beachy, upscale vibe. Get cocktails and linger a bit in the relaxed atmosphere. Also recommended for your out of town friends so you can impress them with this great amenity.
