I'm sorry to post such a negative review but it is what it is. The food was decent to good (but not great) so there is hope. It was the service which was ...well hard to comment on service when there was none. Multiple young waiters were standing around starting at their phones, hanging out and talking to each other and ignoring the customers--most importantly us. I had to track someone down for everything we wanted: Parmesan cheese, soda refill, to go box, the check, picking up the check when I wanted to pay. It was as if I was interrupting their hang out sesh. There were large plates at our place setting when we arrived. When they brought over our food on other plates, they just left the EIGHT large empty plates on our table, taking up all of this room. We pushed them out of the way but one would think you may want to remove them if they are not in use. EIGHT LARGE EMPTYL PLATES at our table. The one person who was working hard was an older woman who was the hostess, cleaning up, doing take out orders. Give her a raise, hire some attentive waitstaff, and can these lazy reluctant participants in your restaurant. Lastly on the food, two of us ordered calzones which came out literally ten minutes after the other peoples' food. So I guess they take longer but maybe something they can fix. read more

Great food at reasonable prices. A very needed venue for Northport. The brick oven pizzas are delicious there are many to choose from. My favorite is the artichoke pie. The Quattro Formaggi is also amazing. Try out this place you will not be disappointed! read more

LaPorta is definitely the real deal. Authentic Italian cuisine in Northport. I've been there several times and the pizza is consistently awesome!!! I am a huge fan of thin crust with amazing topping combinations....definitely recommend the vodka pie with meatball or sausage. Fantastic!!! Great drinks and tasty desserts. Ate here last night for the first time after they reopened. I will say, the food was very fresh and tasty. Really enjoyed what we ordered...or should I say what we could order. They ran out of mozzarella sticks and iced tea, so we had to change our order because of this. Our waitress Alexa was very nice and apologetic about it. I was a little taken aback when one of the bus boys came to our table to clean our plates and asked if we were waiting on anything else. My husband said nope, just the check. The bus boy responded "ok, well I'm not the one to ask for the check." and walked away. Like...can't you give our waitress a heads up that we're done? We also asked for a water refill a few times, but no one came. The party next to us asked for utensils a number of times because they had none at their table when they sat down. Finally, one of the bus boys told them the dishwasher was broken, so everything was being hand washed. They also asked for slightly larger plates for their pizza and were told the small plates are what you're supposed to eat the pizza on. We'll most likely come back to try the food again, but may wait a bit while the kinks are worked out. read more

Very noisy. You can feel all the workers walking around the floor as the floor trembles. The pizza we ordered Bianca was really good. The ceaser salad dressing lacked taste. The shrimp scampi pasta was overly lemony like a francaise sauce not a scampi sauce. The penne Ala vodka was clumping and thick not smooth and creamy at all. I would go back and have some pizza which was good. The service is terrible. Waited forever for a check and another 20 min to pay for our check. They brought our appy pizza and entreees all together. Inexperienced young staff that needs better training and a manager to direct them better. read more

My family and I decided to eat here for the first time tonight and I am so glad we did! The restaurant is beautiful! Our waitress was attentive and so sweet, and the food was outstanding! I went here and... well it was something. Look the ambiance was amazing, admittedly they did a nice job with it, but the service? They ignored our party most of the time, and it wasn't even that busy. It was almost $40 for two small, six slice pizzas, and they just tasted like ketchup with spray cheese on it, don't think that fancy Italian pizza oven makes your food taste better, eh? Admittedly, the old La Porta was way better. You got a decent slice and it was my preferred spot for a long time. I'm a fan of this new addition to downtown Northport! We sat at a table for two in the big window on a beautiful summer evening. Since it was our first time there we decided to check out some staple items so we started with fried calamari and mozzarella sticks and then for dinner ordered a Margherita personal pizza and penne a la vodka to share. All the dishes were great. Our appetizers were brought out promptly, both fried to perfection with a light and golden crispiness. The calamari was cooked perfectly, not chewy or tough, they were firm and the marinara sauce accompanying it was tasty. The same can be said for the mozzarella sticks. The pizza was piping hot with the perfect amount of cheese, the sauce had that sweet/tanginess that pizza sauce should have. The crust was perfect. Strong enough to have a good crisp with a layer of soft fluffy dough. Spot on. The penne a la vodka was just as good as the pizza. The pasta was a perfectly cooked al dente that held the creamy rich, flavorful sauce. We each had a Peroni to accompany our dinner. It was cold and refreshing. Service was kind, attentive, and quick but not rushed. Overall a great dining experience that I would recommend to anyone. read more

Just dined at the remodeled restaurant. Very clean, classy, and comfortable looking. Not a typical "get a slice place", as it is more formal and personal pie size meals. Service is very kind. Food was good to ok... nothing overwhelming great. Ha baked clams, several different pies. Sauce was lacking some flavor and the baked clams were perfect size but underwhelming and bland tasting. I hope they are just ironing out the wrinkles. I'd go back, but hoping for a higher level food experience. I believe it's just a tweak away. read more

Had the best time at La Porta! The staff was incredible and the food was amazing. I had the gnocchi with tomato sauce, mozzarella sticks (their vodka sauce is one of my favorites), and the chicken ceasar salad pizza. They also have a full bar and I tried their Aperol spritz, La Porta Spritz, and the Ranieri, all so good and consistent! For dessert I had to try their chocolate flourless cake which all their desserts are imported from Italy, and an espresso martini. Gave it a second chance and disappointed twice. Mediocre personal pizzas for exaggerated prices. Nothing close to being authentic. The service- near to none. Lots of young staff either chatting amongst themselves or on their phones. Just a hyped-up Northport tourist attraction. read more

The newly changed pizza shop in Northport has a great atmosphere with open front wall for an outdoor feel with indoor comfort. The food is fantastic. They need to get on top of their service. We were forgotten for most of the night, i literally had to flag down our waitress and talk to the hostess to get our orders taken. The worst part was my wife has celiacs and asked for a gluten free pizza. The crust was gluten free but the chicken on top was not - this made her very sick that evening. When asked to have it replaced the waitress forgot about us again and it took 15 minutes to get the new pizza. read more

The food, service and ambiance are great at La Porta. The food is always delicious and fresh! I love the happy vibe and its location. It's one of our favorite places, we love their pizza, I actually think it's the best pizza around! We've had their salads and baked parmigiana dishes which are so delicious! We waited over 2 hours and, on our return, because we never got a call, we were told they called the wrong number! Didn't offer a drink or an apology. Restaurant is really nicely renovated (brick oven is beautiful) but food is a so so! Very crowded & noisy but we did also have a table next to us who were quite loud. Baked clams just okay. Ordered chicken Marsala which was just okay...not great. Spaghetti tasted cheap & pasty. No bread served with the meal & we noticed there wasn't any salt & pepper on the table & we were never offered grated cheese for the spaghetti. My sister's dish, chicken Milanese was good. We ordered 2 desserts, flourless chocolate cake & Italian cheesecake which again were just okay. Would only go back to try their pizza which it seemed 90 % of the customers were having last night. Also at one point our waiter dropped off someone else's meals (2x salads) to our table, we set the aside as we ordered 1x salad to come out with our meals and assumed they had just plated it separately and missed the note of when to bring it out. Went Sunday evening for the first time since they reopened. Waitress was great other service will get better, hopefully. Was told that they had no liquor license yet, but that they did have wine. Wine came with a very small amount in glass. Didn't know if it was normal until we saw another Glass come out with a lot more. Ordered fried calamari, which was light, crunchy and not chewy. Love everything about this local northport establishment. The warmth, the design, the vibe, the service and most importantly the food!! Walking down main street, we took a chance and snagged a table by the bar. it was a bonus because we were able to see all of the delicious menu options parading out of the kitchen.
