The baker is very rude. Who needs that type of treatment. You go in to get pastry and they start going into a fit sating ,"back up, 6 feet. It was just really rude and unnecessary verbal treatment. There's no reason why they couldn't be polite about it. The croissants were terrible - they were stale. I will not go back. I was really disappointed. Rude people. WARNING FOR OTHER CUSTOMERS!!! PRICES ARE NOT ACCURATE YOU WILL SPEND CLOSE TO $100 FOR MINIMAL PORTIONS OF "GOURMET" FOOD. POOR POOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Since there is no website, no official menu, and a bunch of different photos of different menus with all different prices from other Google users we decided to use the Google menu because usually if you're too lazy to create a website for your business you'll have Google do it for you. Google prices were very reasonable asking $4-$12 for crepes/eggs Benedict. We called around 9:50am (they open at 9 supposedly) to which the owner answered and let us do our entire order just to reply with "we don't open until 10". Then maybe switch your hours online? Don't answer the phone until 10? We called back at 10 and ordered which took a while because the phone they have either doesn't work or the owner is half deaf. We specifically asked for no tomatoes in our order on the phone 3 different times as well. We get there and the total comes out to $71.55 for 4 items! 2 orders of crepes that supposedly cost $8 together, and two eggs Benedict that supposedly cost $22 together. We were also taken aback when we confusedly brought out our credit card and the girl working the counter just pointed to a small sign reading "Venmo Cash or Check only." Coming from someone who has worked years in restaurants and in the service industry usually you announce the total and if you are a cash only restaurant (shady) at the end of the call so your customers don't show up in disbelief. We brought our concerns to one of the staff members who rolled her eyes and very rudely said "that's just google we have no control over it unless we pay for it, you have to walk into the restaurant for the real prices, I run all the internet stuff so I would know. Sorry?" She said it all very quickly because she knew the restaurant was in the wrong and it must be hard work tending to 1 singular table! Being a (barely) established business I'm not sure maybe you could either (1) pay google to stop misleading customers or (2) sit down for a second when you get a break from waiting the tables you don't have and type up a website like any good business would do. You guys are only open for 4 hours a day anyways lots of free time huh? :) we kindly suggested they stop half asing their business to which we got a very short "yeah sure thanks". We got home and were astounded when we found a singular crepe in each box and tomatoes in our food. Just so everyone is aware it is $10 DOLLARS for singular a crepe!!! $22 for the savory ones. We called them in disbelief to which the owner unfortunately answered again. We told them our complaints and tried to help them out a bit by sending them the prices we had been looking at. We asked for any contact number/email so we could show him to which the owner responded "why would I do that? I don't know you. Why don't you take it to yelp or something. Aloha." Sad display of humanity :) Attached the Google prices down below so maybe y'all will take a look/other ppl can stop getting confused and save their money. The food was good. The service was awful. We stopped in on a weekend morning. We weren't in a rush. The wait to be acknowledged and receive a menu after being seated got to be rather humorous. The server asked multiple times if I wanted coffee. The third (or maybe fourth) time I said "still yes". The restaurant had customers but wasn't packed. Disappointing! They only serve eggs benedict or crepes for breakfast, which is fine. But the benedicts my husband and I ordered were tasteless, boring and completely uninspired. The spinach on mine was weird tasting...I couldn't eat it; the hollandaise was not tasty, the eggs were cooked well but tasteless and the English muffins were untoasted and soggy. So I read lots of reviews each week and this place comes up often. I was so excited to get up there and eat! We were starving! Parking was a little tight so be prepared for that if you come at a busy time. We waited for a few minutes to be sat. The server explained that they were short-staffed so things might take a little longer. It was nice to have a heads up. We grabbed a spot in the sun--the view is pretty nice. We ordered.. I got a ham eggs Benedict and a coffee and my daughter got a Nutella crepe and hot chocolate. Suddenly the sun came out and it got so hot. We moved to a shaded area. Food didn't take as long as I thought it would. The waitress seemed flustered but she had lots of tables to tend to. She was really sweet. The food was delish. So yum! I haven't had eggs Benedict for years. The salad dressings on my greens tasted like a lilikoi? YUM! My daughters crepe was so good. I also haven't had Nutella in a long time. Seriously great pastries. That is what you need to know. We had just arrived on the red eye flight from Oahu and wanted to have a bite before hitting the trail with our 30 lb backpacks. We waited for the place to open about 15 minutes (they opened a few minutes late), the baker dude (presumably the owner) was grumpy to us, and they didn't quite have what the group wanted, but I decided I liked the look of the vegetarian quiche. So I got it...and an apricot tart... They were absolutely delicious. The portions are quite large, and the prices are excellent for what you get. So who cares if the owner -or whomever that was- is grumpy? The cashier was pleasant and the pastries are da BOMB! Go get some! read more

First and last time I go here. To me the staff wasn't really rude. They had only 1 server so the wait for things can be a while if it gets a little busy. Not a problem for me but something to note. My main issues were the flies and my food. I've dined outdoor more times than I can remember. I can not remember ever having an issue with flies like this place. You can't eat casually and peacefully. Trying to eat while swatting at flies every 5 seconds. It's a war! Being dive bombed by 20 huge flies nonstop is too much. Now the food. I ordered the crab cake Benedict. I was honestly perplexed. It was so bland! The hollandaise sauce was too sour. The crab cake had so much sautéed onion that you can't taste anything else. Might as well not have had any crab in there. In all honesty don't waste your time. Go somewhere you can eat comfortably without being attacked by flies. We were disappointed in La Provence. We tried a few of their pastries last week (chocolate horn and pineapple pastry) and they weren't great, but we really like crepes so thought we'd come back for a meal. The ham and cheese crepe was just ok. The cheese in it seemed to be like a ricotta cheese. Whatever it was, it didn't have a bite to it. The crab cake salad was pretty good, just way too much sauce. The great thing about La Provence is it's authentic French baked goods. You won't find better tasting croissants anywhere on Maui. That's the good news. The bad news is that everyone else living Upcountry knows about these delicious and much sought-after pieces of warm gooey Heaven and they're sold out by 8:30AM. Stopped here after spending sunrise at Haleakala National Park. A quick drive from the summit, we swung by and found parking in their lot. We were quickly seated on the patio and received kind service. They have a simple menu, but everything was delicious. We ordered coffee (the best we had on the island during our weeklong stay), benedicts and crepes (sweet and savory). Portions were generous and came with side salads. The seating is all out doors and a little chilly. I had a chicken sandwich and my cousin a savory crepe. While the good was good it was hard to enjoy it 1) while being served by someone who never smiled 2) battling the flies that lingered 3) surrounded by debris and other trash 4) the wind blowing the smell of the large trash bin. We ended the meal with a pastry each. I had a delicious cream horn. We wanted a crepe but was told they stopped serving them for the day. A hidden gem and such a good place for a family breakfast. We encountered this place on our way back from the Haleakalā summit. I would recommend their baked goods as their chocolate croissants are the best I've had, ever. As for breakfast we had the crepes and eggs and boy were they phenomenal. Authentic French feel with a hint of Hawaii is perfect to start our morning. As for the waiter, she was friendly and kind and really hard working. That added on to our wonderful experience. CASH ONLY. Nearest Bank of Hawaii and First Hawaiian is 11 minutes back in Makawao. Off pukalani. It was a bit of a let down. Just make sure to have cash on hand and grab a baked good. Server is foreign, he was nice, but there was a bit of a language barrier. There was this lady showing off her french next to us. This place makes me feel empty each time I go.... I live on Maui and have tried to visit this place 3 times I was in the neighborhood due to some locals high reviews of the place. But being from the 'other side' of the island, this place seems to cater to only real LOCALS. First time it was closed for some family event, next time it was so crowded the wait was too long. Today I tried again.... Again... There is no clear signage to enter, there is no real parking as across the street is some junk car yard, and once you find a spot FAR away on the street, I found my way in a bit, I get greeted with a sign up sheet (this is their idea of a hostess and wait list) and no one there. Finally after standing there bewildered, I realized there was a metal door that may lead into where I heard they sold pastries rather than sit down. I entered a kitchen area where there is a pastry case- several employees around- and was not greeted. I dealt with a new barista that was alone on her first day. She was so soft spoken I could hardly hear her. It took awhile, and I was given a croissant instead of a scone, when I reentered the door to tell them after I left, my hands were so full I dropped my coffee at the door fumbling. No one helped me clean up, no one apologized as I cleaned up my own mess- I had to find my own napkins... Finally done mopping up, I look up and no one is giving me my scone to replace the wrong item, no one is apologizing and no one comes over to take my messy napkins. Me and the new barista look at each other- I wanting my scone replacement I see it on the counter- her silent. Uh..... hello? I am thinking... She says, "you want your scone?" Yes. (duh??) Having to park up the street, not be greeted, given the wrong item, spill my coffee with no help and no apology or offer to refill... nah... I will NOT be back. The coffee was BITTER- I ordered the decaf capaccino, the scone was delicious but was told it was blueberry when it was blueberry AND mango. First, the service we received was courteous, attentive, and not over bearing. We ordered 2 savory (avacado/bacon egg benedict and goat cheese/spinach quiche) and 3 sweet items (Almond croissant, fruit tart, and creme filled chocolate horn (name?)). These may have been too much for our party of 3 adults and 2 small children, but we couldn't resist all the baked goodness. I have to say everything was perfectly prepared!
