Service was crap. From the lady in the red coat dismissed us after putting down our names. Tina acted as if we didn't exist. Never greeted us and didn't a lot of time at the bar area. Every request I personally had was "forgotten". From the drink to hot sauce. I wasn't rude. I overly apologized for just ordering menu items. Finally made it here, we've been going to the one in NE Portland for years so we were excited that Provence crossed the waters to open on the Vancouver side, and it did not disappoint! The croissant was nice and flaky as always. My only complaint is that is a heavy meal and that I wished there was something else to balance out the savoriness of the dish. I ate some Salmon Hash too and it's good as always. We ordered a Marionberry Cheesecake and a Fruit Tart to go. I'm not a fan on the Marionberry Cheesecake. We usually swing by for coffee and a pastry from time to time. Worst cinnamon roll I've ever had. My high school cinnamon rolls were much better. Today, we stopped by to try brunch. I had the corned beef hash and I was very disappointed to have just the overcooked crispy part of the corned beef. I guess that is what corned beef brisket is. It was mostly potatoes and a few bell peppers and onions thrown in. The poached eggs were just okay, barely. First time I've ever had a latte with no design on top, not that it changes the taste any. We waited months for them to open their doors. Well worth the wait. I love the their twist on the eggs Benedict and have it often. My wife is working her way through the menu. The waitstaff is cheerful and efficient. They have a wonderful selection of tasty items in their bakery. Definitely an award winning and welcomed addition to our neighborhood. Unfortunately they will be limited to takeout thanks to the draconian measures imposed by the socialist governor of Washington state. We enjoyed a great brunch at La Provence. The food, the coffee, and the service provided a great experience.

Firstly, we were sitting facing the bar and we saw the bartenders touching the drink garnishes with bare hand, without using tongs or gloves. One of the bartenders was cleaning the trays with the same rag that she was using to clean the counter and her hands. Another one was eating from the garnish bar and touched everything without washing her hands. One even took veggies out of a drink with her hands then put them back into the olive container then used her hands to put some olives on a toothpick. Order: Daybreaker: eggs, butternut squash and potatoes kine hash, and homemade pork sausage with Lemon Tart. Hey go big or go home aye ;) Taste: 3/5. Pork sausage : beaten to death and dehydrated aka dry as the Sahara. Was crispy though. So, I imagine if they did not overcook the sausage patties it would have earned a 3.5-4/5. For me, I do like lots of flavor-bold is my preference, a smack in your face whoa! However, I know these are homemade sausage patties and I wish there was a tad more oomph in it?! Sage? Thyme? Garlic or onion? A touch more salt or fennel? Boullion of sorts? Something is missing and the fact the sausage was beaten to death by frying pan didn't help and dried this critter out. RIP my lil friends. FYI: I did put in the special instructions that I wanted the potatoes as crispy as possible so someone here has a problem with reading and following instructions. Ok, so I think fried eggs should not have any brown crisp anything on it or it's over cooked but that's my preference. Like sunny side up, or poached eggs it should be virgin white ;) And this is coming from someone who thinks everything should be crispy but there are exceptions and this is one of them. They just come out dry is why and that crispy brown crust is not appealing at all but hey some people might like it! It's not a big deal breaker though. Lastly for taste my biggest gripe is the overpriced micro mini lemon tart. That was 2.5/5. Lemon filling taste on point perfect balance of tart and sweet and not that generic artificial lemon flavor.. Meringue was a thick sweet cloud of fluff that was good but I think what woulda been super awesome was if it has a crispier pavlova kind of texture to add some kind of texture contrast. But meringue was great nonetheless and aesthetically beautiful. Crust was sooo disappointing. Buttery? Yes. Crispy? Hell to the No and this is like a big faux pas for me in the pie world. I love me some pies and crust is sacred and I hate myself that I paid $8 for some small a$$ soft tart crust lemon morsel. The pdx branch of La Provence gave me the best lemon turnover I have had so far in my life and I had such high expectations for this. And the pdx one was way cheaper but their filling can be inconsistent. Come on man! If your gonna charge $8 for small a$$ pie make it worth it damn it. They did use real butter though I can testify to that melt in your mouth indescribable burst of sunshine flavor of salty and slight sweet cream flavor. This is my description of butter so far it's a work in progress. Portions decent minus the shrunken overpriced Guinness book of micro tarts lol. I'm a sore loser about paying $8 on a small tart not worth it. Don't get me wrong I will pay whatever price to eat good food if it's worth it. Pricing:1/5. They are overpriced on everything I think. Though everything is homemade I will say that and I guess this is post Covid pricing so maybe it's fair? Not really I think. Anyway, this was a to go pickup order after work and my lazy ass didn't want to have to cook bf and didn't want to sit in a crowded restaurant. The design of the building is so cute, and when you first walk in there's a case full of pastries available for purchase, so you don't actually have to stay and eat, you could just take a croissant to go. My neighbor and I have gone here 4 or 5 times over last 4-6 months, usually late breakfast or lunch. Mostly have sat at bar as rest of restaurant tends to be full, especially on weekends. Only once had to wait a few minutes for a seat at bar. Food is consistently 5/5 for price, quantity and flavor. Rarely am I able to finish. Drinks also I'd say 5/5, being reasonably priced, quantity, strength and flavor. I had the Parisienne breakfast gnocchi a couple times and couldn't be happier. My friend's had the salmon hash and loved it. I've had a few other dishes and consistently satisfied, but the above has been a favorite. They give a complimentary croissant, and raspberry jam is delicious!!! Definitely ask for jam with it! You're Welcome!! I frequently stop by bakery on the way out to grab a cookie or other desert for my son and even days later have to say they are delicious and will last (but like most baked good always better fresh)! To start the place was jammed at 10:30 am. We were told it would be 10 - 15 minute wait. They would send a text... 9 minutes later they were ready and we were seated. We have eaten at several of their other places in Portland, so we know what to expect for brunch. We ordered an omelet and the chorizo scramble both with a croissant. The only disappointment was the puree served with the croissant rather than their typical preserves or jams which are more substantive and tasty. But once again their croissants did not disappoint.
