Friendly staff, delicious food. I've had their vegetarian burrito twice and I love it.

After a horrible experience at Italian Riviera (avoid that place), we stumbled on La Roca. What a great experience. The staff were very friendly and the food was really good, especially for the coast. Everybody enjoyed their food, especially the pollo mole. The only knocks would be speed of service (but we didn't mind) and the chicken was slightly overcooked. Even so, we would easily go back and eat there again. read more

We so wanted to love this place. It turned out not to be as good as we read about in these reviews. I'm not sure if folks just haven't really had great Mexican food, but this isn't it. The food isn't bad, it's just tasteless. No flavor whatsoever. Bland rice and beans. I had the chicken flautas. The chicken wasn't seasoned, just rolled in a tortilla and fried. But then they piled on damp lettuce which made them soggy. My husband ordered tacos al pastor, again bland. My kids liked their bean burritos, but they adore plain and bland food. The service was ok. No refill on the chips. Probably not a place we would return to. read more

It is what it is, Mexican food on the Oregon Coast. Generic, but consistent and you know what you are getting. It's not bad...but nothing to rave about. The people who serve are attentive and eager to please which keeps people back. They have no problem altering food and maintain great customer service. read more

Great Service, not so great food. Ok, so maybe I don't appreciate "real" Mexican food but none of the food we had (save the chips) were very good at all. Our group of 7 tried beef fajitas (pretty bland and only 3 tortillas for a giant plate), chicken and beef enchiladas (ok), chicken taco (not bad actually) and a burrito. So yeah, while the food wasn't great, they did do a great job dealing with the toddler we brought. Without being asked they brought out a little cup for her with a straw and a plate of beans for her to eat. We were pretty impressed by that. On our annual family trip to the beach and La Roca was recommended highly. We had 8 of us and were seated right away. We had hardly sat down and fresh chips and salsas were brought to our table with waters and menus. The servers and staff are very nice and accommodating. I ordered the cheese enchilada and bean burrito smothered in mole sauce. It was delicious and the mole was smooth and flavorful. Fajitas were also ordered and looked and smelled so good. Serving size was just right and prices reasonable. We will definitely go again. read more

4 stars is a bit generous, but I would go to 3 1/2. I tried the fish tacos (good flavor and nicely seasoned) and my wife had a combo, including an enchilada with mole sauce. I was here a couple years ago and enjoyed it, so we came in again. We weren't very hungry this time, so I got 2 street tacos and a margarita, and my friend got a plate of super nachos, that had pork, chicken and beans, then all the normal toppings. They were very tasty, I think there was a sauce on them that made them taste more special than regular nachos. The tacos were delicious, especially the Pastor. Good margarita. The chips were good, and the green salsa but I'm not big on the type of red salsa they give. Still, food was good, and pretty good prices for the beach. read more

Very disappointed. Husband and i came here for dinner and split what sounded like a big meal. Basically they give you 6 different options, you choose 3 and it comes with rice and beans. We chose a burrito, enchilada and quesadilla. The burrito was soaked in grease. The enchilada was literally 2 bites, it was tiny. And the quesadilla was 4 bite sized pieces. After tip it was $15... HORRIBLE!! Even if we both had our own plates, it was very little food. I will not return or recommend to anyone. read more

This place is great! It is places like this that make me wish I'd taken Spanish in high school instead of French. The food was amazing. I felt like I was in a small Taqueria in Mexico. I'm not sure if it's because I'm from southern California or if the residents of Oregon just don't know what good Mexican food tastes like but we came to this one because of the ratings. This was the worst Mexican food I've ever had. The beans were actually not beans but looked and tasted like it came from a can and I'm not quite sure it contained beans but rather it was more a liquid than a solid. It had little bits of beans in there I think. The guacamole was also from a jar or can...was super runny and lacked flavor. The "salsa" for the chips was actually just enchilada sauce poured into a salsa bowl because when our food came out it was the same that was on our burritos/enchiladas. The chile Colorado burrito contained sour cream and pico de gallo which we have never ever seen before. My friend had a mango margarita and it was pretty much mainly syrup and the michelada I had was very mild, no ice and not spicy at all. Coming from a place where Mexican restaurants are everywhere and they compete to be the best may have spoiled us but this was not even close to being good. I've had a few friends that moved to Oregon from Southern California and they have all said they can not find a decent Mexican restaurant anywhere. Since this one was rated so high I would definitely hate to see one with bad ratings. read more

Tiny little place with okay food . I was expecting way better from what I heard from the reviews. I had the carne asada and chicken fajitas with extra cheese and lettuce for $30 without drinks . The place was busy not enough tables so we decided to do take out . For a big portion of food they only give you 3 small flour tortillas , not enough to cover the meat and veggies. Maybe they give you more if you dine in which i couldnt have the opportunity considering it was pack . The steak was okay would of been better if it was fire grill with the char marks . The chips they provide was however stale. Not the type of place I'll come again . read more

Spending a night in Lincoln City on the way home from a road trip to CA and I was craving Mexican so we came here and I am so glad we did. The food was amazing!! My wife grew up in a Hispanic community and is VERY picky about her Mexican food but the mole here passed with flying colors and the flan was so good I wish we had a way to refrigerate one to take home with us! If you are traveling the coast this is a must stop place for wonderful authentic Mexican! read more

The food alone was very mediocre. No flavor, low quality ingredients and a very basic Mexican restaurant menu with slightly higher than usual prices. They do serve chips and salsa but only a handful of chips and they never refilled the basket. The main reason for 2 stars is the AWFUL service. There were about four tables full at dinner time and we were there for an hour and a half. Neither of our drinks were ever refilled. The scarcity of our waiter was such a joke that we timed how long it would take between walking to the counter and asking for a check to be delivered and signing the receipt. 20 minutes. Their food is way to spicy for people that can't eat spice or don't like spice. I don't understand how people can bring their kids here. To me it is a punishment if you bring your children. I ordered an enchilida just a red sauce one which i always get at mexican restaurants theirs was way to spicy. When i asked them if they had milder version they said that is their mild. never eating here again. Pllus the service sucks too. The people who work here seem to into helping the hispanics than the white customers. It irriated me to go in here and wait 10 minutes to just order something to drink then wait 20 minutes or more for the food. Ridiculous if you ask me. read more

I had a very sub-par chicken mole. I consider myself a chicken mole connoisseur, I eat it at every new Mexican restaurant I go to. Definitely wish I had ordered something different. My wife had a combo platter with a chicken Chile relleno and a pork tamale. She absolutely loved the Relleno but thought the tamale was average. The service was fine and somewhat friendly. Me and the 3 year old were having cabin fever in Salem so we decided a quick daddy daughter "date" to the beach was in order. After some much needed kite flying we ended up at La Roca. This is clearly a family place. 7 of the 10 tables were full but there only seemed to be 2 staff. We expected a long wait. However I had no reason to head back to the valley so that was OK. We needn't have worried about time, as the food came out ridiculously fast. The Super Nachos were piled high with no skimping on meat or cheese. I was very pleasantly surprised. Great! Found this here in yelp while on vacation in Newport. This is really good Mexican food. Somewhere between authentic and "American" Mexican. I had a Pastor Taco and it was the best I've ever had simple onions, cilantro, and pork on a corn tortilla. My kids had a quesadilla, this was a little more traditional American Mexican with just cheese and chicken. My husband had a burrito and it was HUGE and he said "quit good". On weekends they serve posole and the bowl I had could compete with the best that I've had in Mexico. The margaritas are strong and delicious. It doesn't get much better than this. This is the closest I've gotten to real Mexican food since I moved to Oregon. Their burritos are awesome! The green salsa is spicy deliciousness. Chimichangas are small, but yummy. Horchata is a touch too sweet for me, but I still like it. Flan is pretty damn authentic and tasty. We order take out a lot,and often have some pretty specific requests, and they have yet to screw up our order. The food is also pretty reasonably priced. I am a definite fan :) read more
