I love that it is served with polenta instead of pasta. Husband chose his fave, veal parmigiana with pasta. I tried to order delivery and was told to expect to wait around 80 minutes before it could be delivered, which was perfectly fine. But after an hour I was told that my order was canceled because they are too busy. I understand the times we currently live in, but you can't wait that long before realizing that you can't fulfill the order. When the order comes in, make the decision soon after if not right away to give people a chance to make alternate arrangements. You put me in a really inconvenient position. I have eaten here in person before in the past and the food and service were both amazing, so it's not a knock on any of those things. This is just a serious criticism of how a delivery order was handled. read more

This past valentines was my first time here and boy was I'm impressed. First of all I appreciated that for valentines there wasn't a prefixed menu that had 3-5 items. The ambiance inside was amazing. I've never been to Italy before but my girlfriend and I mentioned the whole "Italy" feel to it haha. It was very nice to sit in the middle of the room with a live band to entertain us. The wine list had great depth and was quite extensive. You can't go wrong with a Kendal Jackson cab! Especially when I ordered the herb butter rib eye. This is By far the best rib eye experience that I've had in the past 5-10 years. My girlfriend ordered the crab ravioli. She only let me have one bite, and I fell in love with that too. I haven't been to La Strada in years, but a friend from out of town and working in the area suggested we meet for lunch. She didn't know my folks owned this establishment back in the 1970's when it was Tonelli's Dinner House! My dad was the chef and I had my first job at 14 making salads and clearing tables. Ok, enough about then........ Aside from my memory being tossed about our meal was delicious! The bread and dipping oil was a great starter. My friend and I both chose the Crab Pannini which was served open faced. The pile of sweet dungeonness crab was huge and topped with yummy melted cheese and tomato! My only disappointment were the fries. They were limp and greasy. I should have had the salad. Service was prompt and professional. I would recommend La Strada any time. Bon Appetit. I really enjoyed our Christmas Eve dinner here. We didn't have a reservation but were seated right away. I loved the Tuscan decor and it was quite cozy with Christmas decorations making it look extra festive. We were greeted with a smile and kind words by the lovely hostess. Baked Sole with veggies a side of pasta -,Delicious. The sauce on the fish was rich and flavorful and the fish was cooked perfectly. Good portion of fish too. Special if the night-linguine with seafood. My daughter said it was really good but that next time she'd tell them to hold the calamari. It was chewy. The seafood consisted of, salmon pieces, shrimp, scallops, lobster, mussels and clams. It was in a garlic butter sauce. Veal Marsala with polenta and a side of spinach and Veal Picatta with the same side. - I've never been a fan of polenta but this polenta was AMAZING. Smoothe, buttery and a hint of spice that I couldn't pinpoint (maybe nutmeg) the veal was tender and the sauce was very good. They provided bread and garlic/herb olive oil that was a great start to the meal. Everything was served hot and fresh and didn't take long at all. I'd go back. This is one of those places that I wish that I am with friends or family so that I could try more plates without feeling like a pig. I ordered the linguine with prawns and added two scallops. I am not a pasta person but I cleaned up that plate! It was so good!!! And I finished the plate even after eating the best bread (sorry mom) I have ever tasted. Decided to try out La Strada in American Canyon instead of driving back to Napa for dinner one night. I ordered Capellini Pomodoro with a small salad and the SO had the rib eye with green peppercorn sauce and a bowl of minestrone. We finished with tiramisu. All the food was delicious, the ambiance was nice and quiet, service was excellent. (Thanks to our great server, Dave!) It was late so it wasn't very busy and we had an interesting conversation with the people at the next table! We both enjoyed our meal experience very much and were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices. We will definitely return. read more

Wow! What a gem in American Canyon!! I've literally driven by this place twice a day everyday for the past 6 months and it never really drew my attention. One day, my husband is craving Italian and notices that it's been rated well on Yelp and wants to try it! It was a SUPERB idea! We really enjoyed our meals (I personally loved their take on the veal saltimbocca), the service was EXCELLENT (our server was delightful), loved that they served bread that was warm and soft with an herb olive oil (my brother-in-law couldn't get enough after a long day of yard work!)! I had the New York Steak Frites, which was a generous-sized steak, seasoned fries, cooked well. I did feel guilty at the lack of green/vegetables on my plate though. He had the Lobster & Shrimp dish, also a very nice portion with butter sauce, angelhair pasta and some kind of wilted greens. The shared dessert was a no-brainer, the Tiramisu (I'm only ever torn when it's between Tiramisu or Creme Brulee). This dish was okay, no fancy garnish, not the best but just alright. I feel like the ladyfingers could have been soaked a wee bit more in the espresso or liqueur or whatever magic goes with the marscapone just to moisten the palate. Nevertheless, you can be sure we devoured this in no time. First time in, I liked the interior decor and feel. Not sure I would have wandered in on my own based on location and regular menu prices, but this was a really great deal for the price. Absolutely no crispiness to the breading whatsoever, and barely any seasoning. Spaghetti and Meatballs -- The meatballs are a weird unappetizing gray-ish, and don't quite taste like any discernible meat. Our family went to Six Flags this weekend and we found La Strada as a nearby restaurant close to our hotel. This place is the best Italian restaurant that we have been to. So my sister bought this huge mansion and she needed floral arrangements for her mausoleum dining room. After spending 5 figures for the table alone, I couldn't stomach paying another fortune for flowers. So I talked her into going with me to the Sunday Swap Meet on Hwy 29. Of course she just loved what was available and she had custom arrangements promised within 2 hours and for less than $200. Of course my sister wouldn't eat at one of the many vendors at the Swap Meet. Kinda made me wonder if we were split at birth? Some of my favorite foods are right here. So I took her to La Strada to cool her heels while we waited. Although we looked like we'd been rode hard and put away wet, the host didn't bat an eye. We were promptly seated in the dining room. A visit to the "Powder Room" proved that cleanliness was observed everywhere. We really enjoyed our lunch, including our soup and salad and entrees. Everything was freshly prepared and served promptly. Our bread was replenished frequently, as was our ice water. While the prices were a little higher than a "chain" restaurant, they often have coupons in the paper, so you can keep it budget friendly. And the flowers? Beautiful! read more

Had lunch here with a huge party (20+), for a family get-together. I have to say I'm impressed by the execution and organization of the servers in this restaurant - there were only a couple on duty that afternoon and they made sure all of us were doing well, along with the other unlucky patrons that had to share the place with us that day. It looks like there is also a nice space in the back for receptions. The food was fantastic! The starter foccacia and garlic/olive oil was delicious, and they will refill your basket. I had the Cannelloni Ripieni di Vitiello - Cannelloni stuffed with veal, ricotta cheese and spinach in a pink sauce topped with mozzarella ($16). It was the ultimate comfort food - hot, fresh, cheesy, tomatoey. Their clam chowder was rich and full of clams - I go to chowder cook-offs regularly and this was one of the best New England chowders I've ever had. Seriously good grub. Though we showed up at 11:30 am, it sort of feels like we were given the dinner menu. Not that I minded, but it's probably the heaviest lunch I've ever had. Ask your server for suggestions if you're looking for a lighter meal (or just go for it like I did). I would definitely eat here again. read more

Had my Half Birthday dinner here on Saturday...(yes I celebrate it twice a year). Since it was Saturday night I thought this place would be packed but to my surprise it was empty. We showed up around 9 ish...and was seated right away by the hostess. It was us and 2 or maybe 3 other tables. The restaurant is huge... We were seated in the front room but there is another dining area in the back. They also have a nice size bar to the right of the entryway. This restaurant should be in Napa somewhere. The current location is a little off. It's almost like it's in the middle of nowhere. Once seated we waited for about a minute or 2 before our server came by. He was so sweet and attentive. We ordered some champagne and a glass of white wine to sip on while we look through the menu... We ordered: Steamed clams in white wine, garlic: Goog but the sauce was on the salty side Chicken Lasagna: Delicious (1st time having chicken lasagna) Chicken Rollatini: Good...the BF liked it a lot. Overall... Food was good. Our server was amazing! 5 stars for service. Prices are reasonable. Just wish it was in a better location. I pointed this out to the hostess and received a smart mouth remark. We are in the restaurant industry and if one of our employees addressed a guest in that way, they would not have a job. This is not the La Strada that we enjoyed in the past. No familiar wait staff and our server seemed not to well oriented. One of friends dining with us ordered a cocktail and our server brought 2. I should have said something, but not one to complain, I drank it anyway. Another bitch that I have, is that they now charge for corkage. Leftovers were put in a styrofoam container and paper bag which leaked on my clothing and car's carpet. This, with my other gripes, will not return. Has a change of ownership or management occured?
